Looking for objective marker ideas - could be something you found at the dollar store, or something cool from another game - all ideas sought.

Also want to make sone Necron terrain. Would love some ideas beyond those in the Codex. Links or posts appreciated!

So are you looking for just things you can buy or make?

Here are some ideas for objective markers

Necron Lord Sarcophagus

Necron Lord Throne

Energy extraction machine (put people in it and extract their life essence to be channeled to the C'tan)

Builder Scarabs (made out of warrior torsos)

Holding areas for slaves/prisoners

Anti warp node

For terrain what are you looking at? jungle, desert? keep in mind that Necrons stay in stasis for millions of years so while the planets they're on may have once been wasteland plants and all that could regrow. So you could have the entrance to a Necron Tomb covered in vines and such and surrounded by jungle trees etc.

Buy build or make.
I wanted items that wouldn't be too terrain type distinct so I could use them anywhere. I'd love some plastic pyramidal items, but can't think where I could get them. A trip to the dollar store and a DIY is in order...

I've made a summoning core inspired by the dawn of war game as well as two obejctive markers, one "minilith" and one pylon/pillar thing.

Shouldn't be too hard to find useful decorative items. Pretty sure I've seen Egyptian-styled pyramids, obelisks, and the like in pet stores, for decorating fish tanks. Scribe in a few techno-lines if the finish is too tame for your taste and after a quick repaint, I'm sure you could have a few cool objectives banged out with an hour or two of work and $10-20 for the stock items.

Neongreen crystals by many manufacturers, e.g. GF9: http://www.warpathgames.com/wholesale/warpath.php?m=detail&p=71446

Armorcast has some techno-egypt terrain:

Hirst has extra sets to make your own Necron buildings:
http://www.hirstarts.com/skematic/skematic.html
http://www.hirstarts.com/molds/moldsegypt.html

Lots of Hasbro movie merchandise toys have the right look like:
Hunterkiller from new Terminator movie
Borg Cube and Borg Sphere from Star Trek
Several small and large Droids from Star Wars

But I agree, playing Dawn of War Dark Crusade and scratchbuild the terrain there is maybe the best option.

In the pics below you see a now OOP Pharon Pyramid for the game "VOR the maelstrom" (Kilroy Industries), a simple "half awaken Monolith" conversion and an entry made from Hirst, all in the first pic. Then an Armorcast mini-techno-pyramid in the second one.

You supposed to cast Hurst on your own?
I'd like a very smooth plastic pyramid rather than an Egyptian one - more of a living metal look, in a glossy finish.

Hirst offers moulds so you can cast your own plaster parts.
But there are people on ebay, who sell the parts for specific buildings as well (which I used).

I think of the terminator movies when I think of necrons so I would go with a server stack.
like skynet central....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It would be fairly simple to make your own pyramid mold. Tape 4 triangles together, turn it upside down and fill with plaster, dentac, or fix-all.

Heroscapers (the community website for Heroscape) had some papercraft pieces that were perfect for necron objectives. Specifically, there was a portal and an obelisk that look great with a bit of paint. Here's mine before priming and painting on stiff cardstock, they're on 60mm bases:

Unfortuantely, my job's firewall won't let me get through to their website. Here's a link to one of the terrain pages anyway, maybe you'll find what you're looking for.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

I made a Necron temple recently for a commission, the results were... above expectations.

In a couple days I'll have the completed pictures up, until then you can read the project log over here. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/340499.page

I saw an objective marker made of a painted pyramid shape, with clusters of green crystals scattered around it. The crystals were made by sawing a pencil into irregular lengths then using a craft knife to form to the tip of each crystal.
