So I was reading the rules for Salamander tanks in Imperial Armour, and I wanted in on that action. Since I don't have the money to get a Forgeworld conversion kit, I decided to use spare bitz I had and some shopping at bitz sites to make a scout car instead. Here's my results:

Unfortunately my last drillbit broke, so I haven't been able to drill the barrels out. All things in time...

Sweet. Looks great. Looks like it belongs in WWII on the German side!

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

That's a pretty cool looking scout car. It reminds me of the diamler dingo the brits used in WW2.

Its very cute, but a bit tall. Based on a Russ hull?

@Mr Burning - Check out the last pic. there is a teeny tiny exhaust underneath

Nice work, very Imperial looking.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Gathering the Informations.

Personally, I would have reversed it so that the rear of the Leman Russ formed the front of the armored car.

Gives it a significantly different profile than this, which just strikes me as a wheeled Leman Russ.

I used pictures of one for reference

This is in fact based on a Leman Russ hull. I didn't want to turn it the other way around as I had a really clear idea on how I wanted this to look. Also, the back end is even flatter than the front.

Since building it I've also detailed the sides a little more with some ladders and rope. I'll post pictures here once I paint it!

There was a tutorial for a model quite similar to this in one of the old citadel journals (though one of the old dwarfers also used these as chimeras circa Fall of Medusa V). They're called Centuars, but the ones in the journal used the Chimera hull bottom to give it a little less height and the chimera rear doors for side doors. ^^ All ya need on this thing is mud flaps.

Very nice conversion. Kudos to you.

I'm guessing it counts as a hellhound because of that ominous looking heavy flamer.

Salamander command tank actually! It has rules in Imperial Armor, and I use the amended rules for 5th ed, where it's basically a Chimera that can give orders like a Company Command squad.

No greenstuff? I'm riveting up a tank right now with that putty, though it does come off a little uneven.=/
