Well, we all know how annoying starting an army can be, so a few of us have decided to start a 'Tale of Four Gamers' style thread to chart progress, as we're all starting, or have already started, new forces this year. Here's the details, we'll be posting updates on our own blogs, and on here at the end of every month.

- 500pts completed by the end of March
- 250pts completed each month after that.

Afternoon Dakka - good stuff Ian! I've taken a few photos of my newly-arrived AoBR tactical squad (it's the only part of the whole box I want or need) and am currently painting them up. I reckon I'll have my 500 points done super-quick, providing I can kitbash up a quick Captain!

Fantastic. I'm starting with the basics, too. And with the counts-as Blood Angels part of the army.

10 x Assault Marines, 2 x Melta, Sgt with Powerfist
10 x Tactical Marines, ML, Flamer
1 x Sanguinary Priest, Powersword, Jump Pack.

Are you taking any of these to Platinum Devil? (maybe not looking at your timescales). I'd love to face Panic's mass Hellion army.

I've been out of 40K for a while, so I'm putting together an army from scratch for PDIII. Not sure what yet, but think it will be a non MEQ for some variety

This has inspired me to get back on the case with my Secessionists. Work was a bit crazy there for a few weeks, and I've been roped into DMing a fortnightly homebrew campaign, but I can't let my Lamenters be forgotten! I'll go and undercoat my Baal Predator now...

Right! I'm being uncharacteristically fast. Here's my progress for Feb. I have nearly two whole tactical squads completed and painted. As you might see, I've converted the AoBR sgt into a ML marine, but he's missing the launcher. I've scrounged one from a mate though so hopefully that'll turn up soon.



If anyone has an unwanted Emperor's Champion, or maybe some leftover BA bits I'll gladly trade them out. I've got nearly a month to make my Captain.

I was planning to have 500 points base-coated and ready to show at the end of this weekend, but now I have an Ofsted inspection at my school on Tuesday and Wednesday, so it'll be next weekend instead. :(

Looking good Ian. I recently started work as a model maker in London, so that has been sapping my time and also my will to glue small things together and paint them. I'm still on track though. Expect updates soon.

5 out of 21 models completed in my 500pts list :( I need an extension !

But I have got off the starting blocks now i've started painting, plus no more messing around with resin... I think with a few hours here and there I'll catch up soon!

Good news, over a month late and I'm 99% there on completing my 500 points. I have my captain (yay!), and two fully-kitted tacs. I'm three tacs short of painted and based.

I have started the claw termies, and have even started modelling some sternguard, more for fun than anything.

I need pics to back this up. The good news is I quit the model-making job, and am now back in a nice comfortable desk job

Right this minute, I am painting my last three tacticals. I have to base them when that's done, but then we are set.
I'm planning on basing my scratchbuilt termie chaplain at the same time, so I can then show him off.

Then I need to convinve the long-haired general to lend me the camera I bought her, so I can photograph my toy soldiers. Fingers crossed, we'll have some photos up before the weekend. Oh, and happy Star Wars day.

not only do we crave it , but piss everyone else off by laughing at it later over a cup of tea and scones...

I wish I got in on this action.... I have so many Death Korps to paint and the ones I did finish are slowly being repainted in a new scheme. Compared to me you guys are hitting Warp Speed!

Well, I officially win round one of the ToFG, surely?! Only three(?) months late. Here's 500 completed points. 2x 10-man tac squads, free flamer and ML - Captain w/ Artificer Armour, Relic Blade and Storm Shield. Cool.

Dude I've been following your blog - it's all looking super-sweet. I just noticed that photo is pretty zoomable, eh? Shame the DoF is so shallow (I don't really do photography - the camera belongs to the missus). Sounds to me like you've easily reached 500. I'm adding detail to the Assault Terminators today, adding some pennants and knighty stuff.

Yeah Ian I noticed that your marine blog had ground to a halt, and that out of nowhere you started updating your namesakes. I was going to post a trollish comment in the thread, but your painting was cool so I just ended up looking at pretty pictures for a while. And a battle report.

I guess technically you're cheating, but everyone knows I'm not a stickler for the rules - plus your army is cool, and that counts way more.
