After years of resisting I finally caved in and started a small Loyalist Marine army. This is only the 2nd Marine I have painted in about 10 years and my first terminator, such a joy to paint compared to the fiddly little things I am used to

Heres the first mini fresh of the paint table a Space Hulk Terminator, I used this guy to nail down the paint scheme. Because the Knights of Blood are declared renegade I went for a sort of toned down Khorne like scheme to try and portray the possible corruption within the chapter.

Some Death company and Tac Marines on the way

Thanks folks

I chose Knights of Blood so it didnt seem a bit strange when they fight other marines ,them being renegade provides some nerdy justification.

Should have some death company pics in a few days.

Very nice! I am glad I am not the only one doing Knights of Blood. I just finished a KoB rhino this afternoon. Are you changing the Death company any or are you sticking with the original colour scheme?

I am keeping the mix of metal and painted armour sections on the death company, using black insted of red. I gave the silver a wash of a watered down mix of chaos black and chainmail to darken it down a bit for the death company. Still at the base coating stage so to early to tell if that was a mistake

Let me ask you something else. What do you think of using Grey Knight helmets on some of your Knights of Blood? I know there is a Grey knight looking helmet on the death company sprue. Seems like it would add quite a bit of character if we used those helmets from the new grey knight sprue. What do you think?

That is such a good scheme that I almost want to repaint my own blood angels - I won't, but it is a really cool scheme

I do like that helmet its a MKIII I think. I had a thought of using MKIII helmets for veterans, perhaps even the Forgeworld MKIII minis. Theres a nice medieval vibe about it which suits the chapters name and prevelance for close combat. Will be interesting to see what helmets and other bits are on the grey knight sprues, should be able to pick up some helmets on e-bay when they are released.

I think I will keep the normal marines in the standard mix of MKVII with a few older bits, just for cost reasons. Trying to put the the army together as cheeply and fast as I can

I just checked the PAGK and they have 7 heads. Five helmets and 2 bare heads. Ouch. They could have put a few more on the sprue...

Looking Good

Quite a similar paint scheme we both chose

Is that mechrite red you used?

Thats the colour Im using highlighted up with bleached bone, then washed with ogryn flesh.

I think I went with either scab red or red gore. It was washed and then highlighted. They look a lot better than these pics. I will post some more when I get home from work.

So far, they are pretty similar, though your terminator looks way better. I am glad you went with a darker red. The one in the Blood Angels codex looks a little too bright and doesn't quite match with the artwork above it.

Yes, and some other parts from Chaos, Assualt and Death company marines. Plus you could use them as Jump pack or Assualt marines without jump pack.

Back with a freshly painted Death Company Dreadnought.

Excuse the poor picture quality I lost the batteries for my good camera and had to use an old one that as you can see don’t do close-ups very well.

This chap performed so well in the first 2 games I had with my Knights I had to paint him up strait away. He single handedly wiped out most of a Space Wolf army and about half of an Ultramarines one. Was fun wasting some Space Wolfs in close combat after all the beatings they gave my Tau army

Forgot to take pictures and notes unfortunately. The battles were two 1000pt games. Against the space wolfs he wiped out a 10 man pimped up wolf guard squad that came in at over 600pts a wolf priest, Razorback and 6 Blood claws. That left just 6 more blood claws and another Razorback for the rest of my troops to dispatch.

Against the Smurfs the dread took out a Tac Squad, Scout Squad, Chaplain, Culexus assassin and an unlucky Land speeder.

If only my terminators could learn from the dreads example, they got wiped out in CC by a 5 man Ultramarine scout squad
