Due to continued complaints from our sponsors and a recent flood of inappropriate content, we have decided it is time to get rid of the OT board. It will be locked today and removed one week from now. There have been a lot of good posts over the years, but they are buried in the junk and we just cannot spare the moderation resources to deal with something that is ultimately offtopic from dakka's true purpose. Offtopic discussions will still be permitted in the private DCM forum, but any offtopic content that does not fit the scope of existing forums will incur punishment. If you wish to discuss this matter, please do so in this thread and nowhere else on the forum.

Personally I thought the OT board was something that made Dakka really differant then other wargamming sites. I mean granted I never took part in the "how old are you" or "how tall are you" threads but there where some very intellectual discussions on the thread and some opportunities for members to learn things about eachother outside of wargamming. And I don't like that off topic discussions will still be allowed in the DCM forum, if it's going to go it needs to go for everyone.

I don't know if this will resolve the problem.
If anything its going to stir up alot of trouble with alot of Dakkites.
I'm worrired now with no OT some people will go to other other boards to post spam OT post
Only time will tell but I think this move is in the wrong way.
You also might lose a great deal of members in all this.
Thier are other gaming forums that have OT threads.
