I was going to suggest cutting it in half but then continued to read on I know the feeling some times it easier to just go with the easier option

Yes I am sure I can bend Joel's arm although I think he is bit busy getting his kickstarter out to the pledgers at the moment, mind you I could use the delay to make him feel guilty

You got anymore traitor guard in the works ?

Just for you LLD !!!

The old metal command group I picked up from the FLGS the other day.
I'm about done now I think, a unit of storm troopers to go with a Valkyrie ( storm troopers with be anvil Republic grenadier legs , GW storm trooper arms and German heads) a couple of heavy weapons ( mostly done , need paint)and maybe some rough rider cavalry in the style of WW1 Uhlans.

What you reckon?

Not sure if the helmet less figures need helmets and gasmasks or just painting up to look nurgly ???

Amazing what a difference a head swap makes I still think the head on the standard is the best one in the set but they all look pretty cool

Interested to see how the the Storm Troopers turn out seems to be quite a list of parts, what about the torso though ?

As for the helmetless heads maybe some Gas masks might work well but keep the top half of the head exposed.

Thanks for the feedback LDD !

The head does look good , they come on a sprue of 5 and they are all different , so unless I buy a million sprues they are all going to have a mixed appearance !

The torso for the stormtroopers will be the Cadian torso with a bit of greenstuff armour added to count as carapace .

Good idea with the helmet less head, I'll maybe see if i can't knock something up with the greenstuff roller i bought the other day !

Have you tried asking for a particular head only ?
I only ask as Maxmini has done this when customers had asked for particular heads from sets, I think these ones are from Kromlech and they usually are quite helpful so might be worth a try.

Yeah they are Kromlech, I'd not thought to ask, it might be an option to get some of the archaic respirator types for the standard guard and the more techno ones for the storm troopers, I'll need to work out how many I need !

Especially for Lone Dirty Dog , my command figs with resporators !
Not sure I got the green stuff thin enough , it looks too bulky now I've got them on, but they are on !

Works a treat and it can never be to big it's 40k scale has no relevance here

With a dash of paint it will blend perfectly good job, sorry for the late reply be on hols and no WIFI

Don't worry too much about the greenstuff cables they can be a real pain, especially to get the right thickness, if they seem a little thick try rolling them on a flat surface, just lightly, it'll take the edge off the peaks a bit and give a thinner feel.

That's a good tip , thanks matey . I love the greenstuff roller I got but it is a bit stuck on "epic scale "

Today I mostly cut the heads off perfectly good miniatures.

I always fear cutting heads off miniatures, I think it's like I will regret this at some point hence I have loads of minis for converting that never get done

Some I don't even like

Those heads look pretty good though mind you cutting up the oop IG crew I only found mine the other day

I know what you mean , I quite liked the heads on the artillery crew, very characterful like the Perry twins sculpted them or something ? I dunno but I was reluctant to cut them up . But the army theme is gas masks so they had to come off !!!

Hey mate! Looking really cool... already lots of different Characters coming through and a lot of diversity!

Really like those respirator cables on those command folks... how do you make them!? I can just about roll a nice sausage shape with greenstuff and that's about it!

Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks mate , I quite like the look of them, even if I do say so myself !
I have a very useful little tool called a greenstuff roller , it's just plastic plates with different texture on and you roll the putty between two of them , simples !

Yes they were some nice sculpts but you have given them a new lease of life, as you said it fits your theme so they had to go

After a work induced break I thought it was about time to put together a couple of test minis for my traitor guard storm troopers.

I'm reasonably happy with the results , tho I think perhaps the cadian torso is too short and could use a plasticard shim.

Anyhow , WIP stormtroopers for C&C !

Well, I didn't bother to wait for C&C and went ahead and bunged all the parts together. A metric ton of greenstuff for cables and gaps and basing and we're sorted !
Also made a big start on an eBay recycled Valkyrie to transport them .

What do you reckon ?

And massively off topic but does anyone know why the iPhone 5 is such a pain in the ass to post on here with ?

It keeps turning pics sideways no matter what orientation the pic is taken and duplicates the first pic chosen rather than adding individual pics ?

My iPhone 3 and 4 never did that, but then again I could use my iPhone 4 abroad without trouble , get 3G reception in my house without leaning out of the window and send / receive documents without having a stress tantrum for an hour ……

Hey mate! Really love the look and feel of those troopers! the mix of parts is sweet and those heads are a really nice addition! Gives a very unique aesthetic and feel! Cant wait to see more!

Oh... just wanted to add.... the trooper standing with the rocket launcher is my personal FAV!! Looks like he has just spotted a target and you can almost see the smile growing beneath the gas mask!

Those heads really bring the chaos "something not quite right" feel to those Guardsmen. Very effective choice of parts. Where did you get the banner top?

Thanks very much matey, haven't forgot about your supply drop, hopefully post it all to you this week !

Mate the anvil stuff fit really well , the Cadian bodies are a bit short but a shim of plasticard cured that !

Azazelx wrote:Those heads really bring the chaos "something not quite right" feel to those Guardsmen. Very effective choice of parts. Where did you get the banner top?

Thanks Azazelx, the banner top came in a bag of bits i bought of eBay, sorry ! no idea which box set its from, tho its in the current hard dark grey plastic so its should still be around ???

thenoobbomb wrote:Those are some really cool looking troopers right there!

Thanks NoobBomb

Managed a little bit of work on the Stormtroopers Valkyrie, as I said it was a ebay rescue and whilst not bad there were a lot of poor joints and mould lines, and the paint job had visible brush marks in it, so this being a Nurgle traitor guard I Dremeled it a bit to create small pits, much lighter than on previous vehicles, and set to gluing on fine sand as rust and crud, I created some battle damage and will greenstuff some further details once its all dry.

It seemed easier that scraping all the mould lines off !

Valkyrie WIP.

Thanks guy ! Appreciate the C&C !

Probably gonna call the Valkyrie done , rust / crud/ damage wise, now it just needs to join the paint queue !

Those stormtroopers look cool. Good use of anvil parts, they really bring variety and look pretty good in therms of proportions.

I've noticed apple is like that, probably normal apple, try taking the images at 90 degrees as it might be the camera or just the software is designed to be used at a different angle, probably just that apple is a donkey cave.

Thanks Noodles, I have to say I like the Anvil parts , they really look "right" to me. And as for my iphone5 i'm really not happy with it , so many things that it does/ does not do that it just stresses me out !

I got a fair bit done today, and relaxed me no end, nothing too special but i primed the Valkyrie , modelled its flight stand a bit, and made a good start on my version of a Basilisk. It still needs some armour shields and details but its well on its way !

C&C encouraged !
