Hello!

I am wondering if anyone knows a miniature company that might make female Saxons. I am looking for a female warrior in the 28mm range, preferably armored in lorica, or other typical 7th century armor.

Other female warriors from that time period might work, since I am pretty handy at converting.

Thanks to anyone who can help me find this!

-Tabitha.

Red Box have some superb female warriors with Saxon style clothing.
Depends what you are wanting them for though
They are true scale but very nicely sculpted

Not sure what you're defining "Lorica" as, that's the Latin term for armour and is usually used in conjunction with another term to describe a particular type of Roman armour.

By the 7th century, most well-armoured Saxons were wearing mail shirts.

Thanks Chibi! I like the second one alot!

Carmine, the plate or boiled leather armor worn by legionaries in the movies was actually fairly rare later in the roman empire as the industry needed to support it went out of use. Also after the Romans encountered the Gauls in France and discovered mail they began to use that more often. Lorica does mean armor, but is usually used to refere to a type of mail worn by romans. The roman forces in england, prior to their departure, used mail "lorica" and as such most saxons who could afford armor (most just used a helm and shield) wore lorica, usually bought from the Romans, passed down over time, or looted on the field of battle.

Anyway thanks again, I think I will end up getting Ylvfriodr of Ulfrstadt.

Agreed or scale. Scale was at least as popular as chain for earlier Saxons.

Not sure about the armour for the top one, but the second lass looks early Saxon to me.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
