basic rules:
-Models can be based in an setting or universe, as long as they are wargaming miniatures.
-Models should be of 2 or more figures interacting in some way (can be on a removible base)
-This competition is open to all members of DakkaDakka (to sign up, state that you will enter either on this thread or in a pm to me)
-Anything goes (conversion wise): Random parts, sculpting, scratch building etc. are all allowable; the more you do the better!
-To participate, you must promise to update at least once a week on this blog, though not necessarily with pictures. WIP pictures are not part of this posting requirement, but as they are part of the final entry it can never hurt to post them up. I understand we are all busy this time of year, so a simple "I'm pretty busy, haven't had much time" will suffice for a few weeks.*I will not be checking to make sure that you post once EVERY WEEK, but if at the end I have no record of you posting, then your entry may be subject to investigation by the Inquisition and potential disqualification.
----DEADLINE IS Midnight VALENTINES DAY 2012
FINAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
-Final entry must consist of one(1) WIP picture (pre-painting), and at least two(2) finished pictures.
-Finished pictures must be taken against a white or semi-white sheet of paper, for uniform look.
-Pictures should be posted to the Dakka gallery, and then PM me the link (for the voting thread). Finished pictures should also be posted here, though it does not have to be before the deadline.
-Included with the final entry must be a few sentences of fluff containing background information on the characters or squad.
After the deadline has passed, a 2 voting threads will be posted in the P&M Showcase forum, where the miniatures can be voted on by Dakka users.
ENTRIES MUST HAVE LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO 10 MINIS PER ENTRY
-BASES CAN BE NO BIGGER THAN A BASIC PAPER PLATE-

Looks good so far, but you might want to use bold/underline/italics in your OP to delineate between points. Also, a link to the original thread might prove useful so people can see what went on last time. A fun graphic or something could also be nice to break up the text. Also say what you want Duel to mean in the context.

Count me in! I have a rules suggestion though.

Clarify base size. I'd say 60mm: not too big, not too small. Bases keep the entries looking clean and uniform.

@Rogue , wow this excellent idea mate, I love that your going to make the skyrimm guy vs a Dragon... so excited to see it complete. lots of great head choices out there too ! I must resist starting another project ... This would give me the perfect opportunity to do a fantasy dio i have been planning for an age ...

at the moment , I am thinking three things ...

Classic old school D&D style fantasy conan maids etc..

VIKINGS or you could say Norse men

and A pretty cool WFB idea , that just sprang to mind

would love to do all three actually the vikings one would the easist i think though , with the wfb being rather tricksy ;-)

..or maybe Napoleonic ..?

i think the viking setting is nice but a true conan theme i think would be great for you as i think the artful aproach is right up your alley!

Here is a mini I threw together on a whim a while ago. Now I will probably get a chance to actually use him.

I have the duel planned out already... This marine standing over a decapitated Bloodletter with a chaos warhound bearing down on him.

The duel will be entitled "Fetch".

I followed the previous competition because of Zefig, who also got me into 40k (hats off there budday). I know this seems to be an individual thing, however, I just got my wife into 40k, and being one who has always done arts & crafts, she is quite skilled at painting. I, on the other hand, suck at the moment, however I really like assembling, glueing, sanding, priming, etc. Would it be ok if we jointly entered?

as for the amount of the entry piece... i think rogue wolves, we need you to clarify a bit more... i think for what i would like to see as a duel base at least a cd sized base is a must...i can´t picture the fighters up that close...

Yeah, but the reason people put size restrictions on their competitions is because "bigger is better". The sheer size of an entry will help draw people in, regardless of painting or modelling skill.

Either way I'm fine with it, I guess I'm just looking for uniformity among entries overall. Like, to avoid having a little ninja showdown followed by this huge clash of titans over a hive city. As ridiculous of an example as that is

How bout this. I put a vote down for a size limit. You guys can decide what that limit will be. I just think that we need one.

sentinel... i second all your ideas here... all is sound and i totally agree to make a suitable decission for a base size... rules are important to have the entries on the same level...also when this is set i can plan for real... before that somehow my imagination is a bit frozen so to speak...

I also can't imagine my entry going on something bigger than a 60mm base.

LOOOOL.... now that makes muuuuuch more sense... lol... somehow some guys have instilled in me a craving to look for huge walking mechs...now i seem to expect those lurking at every corner/thread^^
