Hey all, thought i'd share my latest project.

I purchased two Mk I Rhinos on eBay recently. £4 each.

They arrived this morning and I've been busy with them all day.

Here they are, as I received them.

Pretty poor paint job. Also quite thickly laid on, losing detail. The tank on the left has an ork head stuck to the front....we can fix these things.

Firstly, need to strip the paint. I use this stuff form B&Q (UK store). It's about £10 per tub. Small stuff can be left in it overnight. Tanks can be pasted with it. Safe for plastic - highly recomend.
I used a cheap packet of dentist tools to get the paint off. Local pharmacy £1.

After I let them soak for an hour, I went back and scrubbed away. This stuff removes superglue (not plastic glue) so the tank fell apart a little.
This was good as it meant I could remove all the paint from the cracks and crevices.

After some more cleaning I re=assembled the tank..... almost as good as new.

Next job was to start repairing it..... I've started by adding missing rails and replacing the plastic ones. Just used some paper clips, into small drilled holes.

Painting next....

Wow, that is a good result from a paint stripper, looks like new. I tried stripping an identical rhino in dettol and it was a disaster. Does it damage the plastic if you leave it too long?

Well so far the longest i left a model in was about 30 hours, that was one of the new plastic marines. Model was absolutely fine, paint just fell off it. It does dissolve super glue as well.

Cool, I like your one. Blood Angles is such a nice old rogue trader chapter. Looks perfect with these tanks.

Thanks! And i totally understand. Once I found out how good it was...i basically just doubled my marines army, cos of all my old (not so well painted) stuff.

Won't need to buy any more for a while.

They are looking pretty good. Anyone else think they'd look awesome in Deathwatch colour scheme? ...if they even have a scheme for vehicles that is.

The tub is about the width of a toilet roll, you could easily fit a tactical squad in there with some other bits. It cost £9.98 in B&Q.

Yeah, I've used it to strip paint from loads of stuff now. Marines, bikes, a dread etc. The gunk starts to get a bit grim looking (where some of the paint runs). But it still does the job.
