So, didn't get the job, but a very deserving friend (an ex, no less) got it, and am not going to let that cloud a lovely birthday. Thanks again for kind wishes, have got the new Jim Butcher, Forbidden Alchemy and Batman: Earth One amongst other things (and just been out for fab Italian). All in all, la vita e bella, etc.

Here's some holiday highlights - we were down in the borders, and of note visited Dino Park:
That's not going to end well...
Threave Castle
Caerlaverock Castle...
... and grounds
And inside a Vulcan Bomber (which my wife insists on calling a Vulture ) at Solway Aviation museum

^ I see you got in there fast!
Was checking I'd successfully managed to share pics from Fb.
In more general mutterings, having if not a hobby break, then a refocus - tiny ships going pewpewpew have distracted me delightfully, and I'm playing another game tonight (along with some Boss Monster, the card game of end-of-level 8-bit glory!)
I'm resigned to not finishing the waste dump of waste - having the kids over the summer means I've very little time other than projects with them (expect a Trebuchet!) I am going to try to get back to my sisters/orks though, hand as cramps are much better generally (according to a mate who's an orthopedic hand and wrist surgeon, they're nothing serious, I just need to take it easy - it's writing on a board all day that does it). So it's about priorities at that point; I'm not feeling the love on the waste dump really, so I'm just going to draw a line under it rather than getting down about another unfinished project.
Other than that, feeling pretty chipper all round - catching up with friends this week, mostly. Will try to get some pics of tonight's tiny spaceship action!
Later,

Hmmm Warwick Castle was definitely better when I was a kid. The Ice House was great although last time I was in the area it was far too expensive for my tastes. Those look a good pair of castles though. When I've been over the border wandering around Kilmartin glen and clambering inside the Neolithic tombs was great fun.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Thanks mucker!
So I had a great night last night.
I got completely monstered by the borg, although it was a lot of fun and only narrowly went against me. I misjudged my suicide run on the borg sphere by 1mm so only managed to lay into with my polaron beam (avoids shields). Although between them 3 jemhadar attack ships seriously dented it, he toasted me. By his own admission though, it was seriously close and had he been running a drone based sphere I'd have also had him (jemhadar are anti-crew). The borg are scarily nasty, but not unstoppable if you approach them right - also, I hadn't specifically meta'd vs Borg, so was really happy with how I coped.
We also played last night on earth - zombie survivor game - playing as the hero team, my borg buddy's wife and I won versus the zombies. Then, a game of Boss Monster, the card game of 8-bit dungeon building which is insanely good fun.
So, good times!

will you use then the kit... there is a modelling range around that produces kits that are designed to look like da vincis builds...if you remember I built a da vinci LoeR monument out of the Vitruvian man...I think their stuff has quite a good quality...
and that reflex should be avoided...tho...do you do that avoiding actively or passive?
and... when you play these games... does your wife join in or is she keeping an eye out for your kids or who watches them then?... I bet that this is quite the fun to have the chance to play such games...
