Hi @ all !

This is my first blog here so please be gentle I still have to figure out how to use all the functionalities of the forum.

I am not a gamer but instead focus on painting and modelling and I would like to share my current long-term project with you. The intention is to build a defense line looted by a mixed pack of Orks which has to defend itself against an approaching foe. I plan to include a lot of cinematic effects to make the whole scene more dynamic.

Please fell free to comment on the project and if you have some ideas let me know. I hope to get encouraged by your comments as I am a slow painter/builder (due to job, girlfriend, other hobbies and so on..) and hopefully you can help me to stay focused

The first set of pictures will show you how I did the base. I will include the whole dio into a plastic showcase for the sake of protection against dust and little children. The material used for the ground is called "Holz-Reparaturspachtel" which best translates into "wood-repair-putty".

And here are some detail pics of the defense line itself. I bashed parts from several manufacturers and intentionally left some gaps between the wall elements to show the crude nature of the whole thing.

Cool! I really like the blast impacts. The trim on the defense line could use a little more color as it blends a little too much as is with the color of the soil it sits on, but aside from that it looks great!

I agree. From a real warfare point of view it is often intended to have the fortification blend into the environment as this will confuse the enemy but I see the point when it comes to dioramas which need some contrast.

Some of the little gimmicks I already included.

A remote controlled "mine" on its way to the enemy lines. I will add an exhaust plume.

An anti-aircraft machine gun on a pintle mount. Maybe it will be manned by two Gretchins standing on top of each other

Nice. Definitely go for the gretchins manning the AA gun.

It is a combination of several parts from my bits box and a Kromlech stubber.

Ok, it is time for some minis. I found an old Grot in my stash and intend to use it. Of course he will be positioned in front of the fortification. Someone needs to have a closer look at the enemy...

Unbelievable that it took me half a year to finish the first mini for the defense line

I'm also curious about the defense line source. It looks like a kit, where did you get it?

Great job on the diorama!

It is not a GW product. The walls are made of resin and come from MicroArt Studio but as far as I know they are OOP. The turrets as well as the AA Gun and the remote bomb are from Kromlech.

Maybe one additional model until the end of the year

Glad you like it!

I am still working on this one occasionally. Recently finished the Commanda. He is in charge of all the boyz manning this section of the defense line.
