Dam, if only I could do power weapons like that, now'll I'll have to sulk and stare at my Dudes with power weapons, 'Why can't you guy's be as good as this?' Seriously nice job.

Woohoo... PAGE 3!!! Page 2 lasted forever...

Update tomorrow, being working on the last 4 arbites so hopefully a WIP shot tomorrow soon followed by some finished pics.

Power weapon was dead simple... just keep making it lighter towards the end and let blue wash do the magic.

Hi guys, did some painting last night on the last 4 arbites. Decided i'd post some WIP shots of the paints jobs as i dont have time to work on them tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully all the mistakes, paint spills and areas i missed painting will get rectified. Still need to do some work on the armour as its just the basecoat of mordian blue at the moment, plus i also need to highlight the cloth.

The last model is troubling me. I would like to give him blond hair but i've never done it before, always stuck to something safe like brown. Anyone know of any good tips for painting blond hair? I dont want to end up with bright yellow or orange.

Really phenomenal work on the Arbites, and I also am a huge fan of your veterans: the 'operative' idea for Marbo turned out really well, and IMHO is a LOT cooler than John Rambo at age 20.

Just questioning the scale factor on the Cyber-Mastiff: that's Barbaretta's dog, unless I am mistaken?

It is Barbarettas dog... i picked up three of them off eBay for about $10-12, but i've only made one so far. Need to think about how to make them all look different, which isnt easy as they are only two piece.

I know it looks much bigger than a normal scale dog, but i see it more like a cross between a dog and a modern day police horse, easily capable of pinning down a fugitive or helping to disperse a rioting mob.

Finished the last 4 arbites im likely to do for the time being. Although i do still need to do 2 more cyber mastiffs and i do fancy doing a female Arbitrator after reading the first two Calpernica novels, Crossfire and Legacy. If i can pick up a suitable model, maybe an Escher model, as the base then i might try and add some carapace, a spower maul and make her a psi-cop.

Anyway, 2 Arbites with bolters, 1 with shotgun.

Followed up by some shots of my second proctor, although im gonna tidy up some mistakes and take some pics tomorrow if theres better light. Quite happy with how his blond hair turned out too.

Oh, and a group shot.

Next up, some more guardsmen i think, as much as i would love to work on another side project its time to get back to the main force for a while.

The Proctor looks awesome. Sorry if this has already been asked but what was the base model?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Some more standard guard, including the first part of a mortar squad, a sergeant and two guardsmen. Apologies for the dodgy focus on the first pic.

Next up, more of the same... 2 more mortar squads, 6 sergeants and 13 odd guardsmen sat staring at me. I love horde armies.

Yet more fantastic work. All your models have a fantastic 'feel' to them, that is difficult to quantify exactly. Most of all, I think, the unified colour scheme and method of painting, from the figures to the weapons and even the bases, is smooth, clean and realistic.

I really like the arbites....they look better than the actual models.
I do have a question on the guards coloring......is it just desert yellow over black w/ a wash?
If not, I would appreciate it if you shared the colors.

I look forward to more updates.

thanks,
Rick

Thanks for the kind comments guys, really helps to inspire me when i think of how many guards i have left to paint/repaint.

Tzarinchilla - I cant take all the credit for the idea. There was a crimson fists army on the back page of white dwarf years ago that had the same idea for scouts. I just borrowed it and turned them into arbites.

Ivyoda - The guards fatigues are scorched brown, heavy layering of desert yellow, highlight of bleached bone and then a wash of devlan mud.

Hey, lifeofshan, I almost hate to ask, but where are you getting the heads for your Arbites conversions? You GS/resin-casting them?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Robocop was silver!!! well, a silvery blue anyway///

Death By Monkeys - wish i'd thought of casting them, of had the capability to do it. All the helmeted heads came from the original Arbites models, lovely chopped off.

Couldnt bring myself to paint tonight, the call of Gears of War 2 was too strong. Anyone else have a similar problem?

More guardsmen... and more photo's with dodgy focus to accompany them..

Group shot with previous 5 guys...

next up, probably more damn guardsmen... although i did buy a base model for calpernica, gonna base her on a house escher necromunda model but will need to bulk up her armour and make it fit in with the rest of the arbites.Hopefully gonna turn another 2 eschers into a callidus and a gggrrrrrr.. words escaping me... the pyshic one, with the massive head mounted weapon, cant think of his name... only mine will have a shoulder mounted weapon instead.

Hey guys, not a real update as such, but took a break in the weather to re-shoot the photos of my Arbites proctor for a competion, thought i'd share it with you all.

For some reason his skin looks a bit orange in the pics, like hulk hogan, but you can see from earlier pictures that its not the case in real life.

Proper update in the next few days.

More guardsmen. 1 segt, 2 guardsmen and a mortar team.

Gonna try and do some more tonight if the xbox doesnt distract me. Got a junior officer, 2 segts, 5 guardsmen and another mortar team sat staring at me.

Work on assassins will come after, waiting for a bits order for the head for the culuxus and trying to figure out what would make a good calidus pistol.

Update time. Being busy repainting loads of guardsmen and finally decided to take some pics of the new ones.

First up, 3 members of strakens CCS, all with melta guns.

Next, a Storm Trooper segt. Head comes from the sentinel sprue.

Heres my version of Lukas Bastonne, with weapons supplied by two of my storm trooper sgts.

And finally, here are five members of his hardened veterans squad.

Next up, some WIP on my Assassins.

Here's my WIP Assassins for my Witch Hunters Army, first up, a Culexus.

She's made from an escher ganger, servo-skull for the head, necron flayed one hand and shoulder mounted weapon is from an eldar dire avenger.

My Callidus, made from an escher ganger, necron flayed one, a dire avenger sheathed blade and a neural shredder made from a shuriken pistol and a plasma pistol.

Might take me a few weeks to get round to painting them, still got loads of guardsmen to do.

Very high quality work here, I'm a huge fan of those shotguns (so much in fact, I wish I had seen them before I opted to use the Scout shotguns on my hardened vets!). The paintjobs seem to keep getting cleaner and cleaner and I love all the detail you put into your specialists; they really stand out.

The guard has always been an army that I think massively benefits from adding that bit of character; too bad that doesn't always happen since you often have to deal with so many troops! Great work, keep it up man!

Finished some more guys. Only got two guys with flamers to do and that should be it for my infantry.

First up, three guys with shotguns from bastonnes squad.

And a plasma gunner for the same squad.

And finally the last melta gunner for Strackens squad.

So yeah, two infantry to go, along with finishing my basilisk, two leman russes, a chimera, a hellhound, a sentinal, a valkyrie and finishing converting a vanquisher.

And i hate painting tanks too...

Got some tanks done today. Finished my Basilisk that i started painting at least 9 months ago.

Next up, a chimera with turret mounted heavy flamer. This started off as an old-shool hellhound, which i ripped apart two weeks ago and retrofitted to a chimera, with some plasticard. Couldnt find another multi-laser though, so i fashioned a heavy flamer for the turret from a sentinal.

Finally, a group shot with another Chimera.

That means my Helskans now have a semi-respectable amount of painted armour. 1 demolisher, 1 armoured basilisk and 4 chimeras. Next up, either two leman russes or a new hellhound and sentinal.
