Dood, I have seen BFG fleets at Games Day, and I have never seen ships painted as well as yours! You have totally sold me on BFG too! Excellent work! I am especially fond of the chemical plant ships, they remind me of the Colonial Fleet from the new BSG.

Thank you, Gitsplitta, I'm glad you like the fleet I really want to do a fleet shot of all my stuff - it comes to just under 4000 points but the rest of it is half the country away. Something for another day I guess.

I'm actually feeling rather burnt out after doing all these - I have a few ideas about how to top this all off but that will wait until a later date. I'm keen to clear my desk of projects as it's my birthday in April and I MIGHT want to start some new stuff... Might.

Big D! Shucks, I dunno what to say, that is very high praise indeed! Thank you very much, that has really made my day! Does this mean we will be seeing some BFG stuff from you? The chem plant ships are some of my favourites too, it's the first time I based a fleet around a limited 'palette' of parts as a theme.

I have managed to sit down and put some much needed paint to my Ork Hammer Battlecruiser. It is now tabletop ready BUT I intend to add more to it. I am thinking about adding yellow dags to the 'jaws' and yellow flames to the fins - thoughts? Also, this puppy will need some heavy weathering using boltgun metal drybrushing and charadon granite sponging. And windows of course.

Next month it's Onslaught Escorts...

If I didn't have my irons in too many fires already, I would definitely get right into BFG, perhaps some day

Question, how do you glue on the fine metal mesh with CA without getting ugly, glue-filled spots in the mesh?

The Yellow sounds good indeed and the Hammer is looking brutal!

I shall keep an eye on you for when your willpower finally buckles then

Answer - I use a few small blobs of super glue on the area I want the brass mesh to go, then I place it down with a pair of tweezers. I then blow gently on the mesh so the glue spreads out and doesn't obscure the detail of the mesh. A few gentle squeezes with the tweezers help to secure the piece - this is tricky as the glue tries to stick the tweezers down!

Hope that helps, mate.

Thank you! Yes, I have now decided that ALL of the Ork capital ships are going to get yellow dags. I have already daggified the Hammer and its attendant escorts. Pictures below!

Thanks, buddy, ever the loyal supporter As I said, I will definitely add dags to all the cruisers.

One of my recent projects was bulking out my Ork pirate fleet, and with the addition of a final 2 escorts I am happy to say this project is now complete !

This is likely to be the last update for this log - I am going to be putting everything in to the more general log that my Marine thread has become. Light quality for these photos is not that good, so apologies for that. I am very pleased that I can call these guys done for now. Actually, I want to go back over them and add weathering powders and windows but I'm rather worried about taking the plunge... Here is what I am thinking of using to weather them:

http://www.bragdonent.com/weather.htm

Anybody got any experience of using these?

Anyway, I hope that you like them - please do post up any suggestions or criticisms!

Have a great day, everybody

Thank you, monkeytroll! I'm pleased that you like them - they do fit in well with the rest of the fleet. Ironic, as the fleet is now so large it won't fit on it's old shelf!

My other log has new shinies too y'know...

Hahaha sorry had to be done! I have left this thread dormant for far too long, for which I apologise. The bulk of my recent work has been zombies and marines on my other thread but I have recently gathered pace on my Ork Waaargghh Fleet!

Here are some snaps of the 3 builds I am aiming to complete shortly. Ravager, Kill Kroozer and my latest build - a rather large Terrorship! Should I be using the BFG Ork Pirate list this will bring my fleet to it's full quota of 6 cruisers. I also have my Hammer Heavy Kroozer for fun and games of course, plus my long intended battleship is next on the To Do List

Recently played a Surprise Attack against Scarper's Imperial ships. Next time I will take some shots for these pages, but needless to say my small posse of ships caused a nuisance of themselves, only to be ultimately pulverised by the many Imperial weapon batteries around them. I went for a fluffy fleet of numerous escort ships backed up by two Kill roozers - in hindsight I think more cruiser hulls is the way to go for actually gaining victory... But I do love my fluff

In other news - recently treated myself to some counts as Klingons from Studio Bergstrom:

My picture does not do the cruiser justice - it is very nice indeed! I think it's emulating a D7 Klingon cruiser - the two brass rods bracing its 'neck' are rather odd but not that bad in the flesh - they certainly give it extra strength. For your reference, the ships are on a cutting mat using 1cm squares. The smaller ships will be my destroyers and frigates - they are just too cute not to be used.

I plan on getting more, and will be using Full Thrust Lite rules for the gaming - here is the free ruleset if anyone is interested. It's only 4 pages long but full of potential.

Right, I am now going to get some undercoat on my Orkses and work on some fluff for the finished results! Thanks for looking, everybody

Happy 2014 everybody, and thank you, Gitsplitta

Recently sat down and played my first game of Full Thrust against the mighty Scarper. We both used two light cruisers each, with suitably contraversial names.

Firestorm Soryllians Ben Dover and Piles versus Imperial cruisers Arsey and Classy. The Soryllians came off worst with a devastating first salvo knocking out most of one ship's weapons. I promptly went on the lose the game, but we really enjoyed how quick it was to run through. Took about an hour, which was very refreshing after Battlefleet Gothic Next time we'll try it with a full array of ships to get more tactics on the go.

Also got a game of BFG Convoy Run in! An Imperial convoy came under attack from Ork pirates. Note the brave Cobra destroyer closing on the pirate Killkroozer at the top - I rolled a 6 on the random foe generator!!

The convoy clustered close together and dodged my incoming torpedoes only for the Killkroozer to close in fast! However, help was on the way in the shape of an Imperial light carrier, top right, which promptly gutted the Ork for the loss of only a single transport. Oh, and some reckless Imperial escorts but still a poor result for my Orks

I should have chosen bomber squadrons instead of torpedoes when I rolled those choices - it would have given me more flexibility instead of the convoy dodging my torpedo salvos. In the same vein, I probably should have taken a Terrorship instead of the Killkroozer but I was seduced by all those gunz!!

Thanks for looking, going forward I'll try to post up some more slick reports for us

Long time no post - I have still been hobbying but real life has been stupidly busy. My apologies for allowing the thread to go rusty.

Today I had a great bank holiday Friday - the weather was awesome and after I enjoyed the sunshine I sat down and put the finishing touches to my entire Ork Waarrgghhh fleet!
It was really satisfying finally varnishing these ships up - felt like I'd closed a chapter on one of my projects

I do still have THE Ork flagship to complete and I will post some work in progress shots soon, my word on that.

For now, I hope you like these shots of my Orkseses(es).

Every ship has been scratchbuilt by me - most of the pieces have come from a Pegaus chemical plant model kit. Other parts are Orc shield bosses, Lego bionicle heads, wire mesh and random weapons.

Thank you for looking at the pictures - please do comment if you like them

Roks... Well, they're not part of the plan for now to be honest. I have a host of other small projects I'd like to get stuck into such as completing my Klingons (recently picked up a bunch of MicroMachine D7s to bulk them out). The Hulk, on the other hand, is kinda what I've been working on recently here:

This vessel is intended to be the flagship for my Ork Marauders, and once I'm finished adding lotsa armour plate and mesh I intend to use it as a battleship and space hulk, whatever I fancy really. The project's a bit of a slow burner at the moment but I'm enjoying slowly bulking it out with bits from the IMEX kits and my bits box.

I've also been working on scratchbuilding an Imperial battleship to round off my human opponents:

Sorry for the slightly blurred picture and the fact it's currently held together with white tac! It has proved easier to keep this beast in three parts for ease of building and eventually painting. I'm enjoying how she's slowly coming together, especially the homemade prow. Finally, there's a small civilian cargo ship I've cobbled together from half a GZG 'Crusty' light cruiser and a Leman Russ turret ring:

This is what happens when you misread the description of an evilbay lot - I only got half a ship so decided to fix that with some imagination! I dunno what I'll use her for, maybe a Kobayashi Maru type scenario at some point.

All three of these builds still need bulking out with styrene and much more detailing. They've taken quite a while to get to this point already! I hope you like them - hopefully these will serve to inspire other scratchbuilders on how easy this kind of project can be

Cheers

Ragsta
