The local GW manager mentioned that they might get in the warhammer forge Tamurkhan book a few weeks after it's released... has anyone else heard similar? I told him I'd hold off on getting it in case they did (support the local store, etc etc) but I'm curious if it's going to turn out to be true or not.

Supposedly a lot of GW shops stock FW books now.

My FLGS carries most of the FW books, the independents get them on the bitz order. So I can expect to see Tamurkhan and IA11 there when they release if not soon afterward.

From that one picture, I'm not too keen on the techmarine either, but we will see when the proper pictures come out.

As for shops stocking the IA books, our local GW has the more recent ones.

The GW online store has them all after a while http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat440351a&rootCatGameStyle=books and all GW stores and many Indies can get everything that is on the GW website.

BTW Avian over at Warseer found out that the Brood Horror is a minor resculpt of Trish's old Nurgle beasty, that at the time wasn't intended for release and was mistaken by many as a Skaven monster anyway

Also interesting, here a Dark Eldar concept art photographed by Gobsmakkd some time ago. Too bad, that Jes carried his Dark Eldar concepts with him during all GD and noone took a photograph of them.

Did he? Fair enough - I haven't watched the videos yet, and was working from the notes of the guy that posted the images.

Yeah, he said Plasma Gun in the presentation.

He might have meant Plasma Cannon or one of the other designers there countermanded his statement in an interview though, who knows.

You have to remember how much taller the contemptors are to a normal dreadnought. That makes the plasma weapon consistent in size to the normal dreadnoughts plasma cannon, without any consideration to the superior tech used to build these.

VERY good catch there!

And you're probably right too!

This is a "plasma gun" not a "plasma cannon", but I'm betting the rules for it will be closer to a 'cannon' than a 'gun'!

Have to start saving now... 2, 3 or more of these will not look out of place in my army!

In the close ups of all the Contemptors in the case, one has what looks like a plasmagun nozzle in it's fist, so maybe that's what he was referring to, not the actual "Plasma Cannon" arm.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Fixed that. I have the same sentiment. For the longest time FW cared about non-marine things... now its 60% of what they do. Also, if you watch all the videos in the link someone asks about a Marine superheavy and the presenter says its something they've been thinking about. So it doesn't look like we'll see much change. Its funny, when the presenter talks about different projects in generalities... no mention of SoB, Tau, or Necron guess FW has no love of those armies either.

Out of interest, what could they do for Tau other than more crisis suits?

Since they can have standard Contemptors, I don't think it's as unlikely as you think.

But hey. Dark Angels cannot take Riflemen Dreadnoughts, despite Mortis patterns being the creations of the fething Unforgiven.

Exactly.

Besides, it’s not like any FW items are required to play 40K. This isn’t GW releasing yet another Marine product rather than making a Tervigon kit, this is FW releasing a bunch of new arms for its recently released Dread kit and adding another special character from their two big Marine books.

I mean, they’re releasing a Tech-Marine, some Dread arms, a new LR variant... and a new Guard Super-Heavy and several Dark Eldar vehicles. How can anyone complain about that really? I mean sure, I’d prefer resin Noise Marine and Thousand Sons conversion kits, but I’m hardly going to complain or say ‘screw you’ to FW for making cool models.

The only thing that FW should do is finish off the Ork story they started in IA8. Other than that they can do what they want and I’m happy.

Quite easily, from the look of things...

I'm just chuffed that they're releasing more models that are STILL cheaper to buy, here in Australia, than plastic variants... Thanks FW.
