Got myself a copy of Betrayal at Calth after a very happy birthday. I was giddy as a school girl when I opened it up to all those sweet heresy plastics. Gonna assemble a 15 man tactical squad!

Hahaha. Not intentionally.
But yeah I am trying using a primed MDF as a pallete so I can test how paint will look on the same colour as the model before it goes on.
I generally prefer to prime light grey but I figured nightwing and batman would be best primed black.
Nightwing is going to get the New:52 red and black look rather than the standard black and blue.

Things did not go too well for me. Turns out that a scenario where you're surrounded by 2 enemy fleets, each larger than you isn't the most balanced game in the world...

Really wish I'd done that with mine to be honest, I reckon it would have popped against the grey suit much more... oh well, when they come out with an AK Nightwing, which they almost certainly will, I may well just do that anyway...

Continuing the theme of finishing the stuff on the table..
83rd Foot, finally finished.
Slight cheat, only actually half painted four of these today, and the flags plus basing, the rest having been done months ago, glad to have them done though. 24 strong, enough they are usable, though may do a further 12 to get them to 36. More for using in skirmish games than anything, 24 being plenty for Black Powder.
Part finished a few other bits but will take pics of them when they are actually done.

I think trying to multitask too much is my downfall with painting. I try to paint too many models at once and get overwhelmed and end up with an bunch of half painted stuff. Trying to take it one model at a time atm are if the added focus helps.

Have had the sniffles for a few days so not really felt up to hobbying (hobby time having been spent napping or browsing forums).
Starting to feel better so decided to take a group photo of my Black Legion Chosen of Abaddon conversions. Still some work to go, especially on the Slaanesh chosen, but they are starting to come together nicely now!
Automatically Appended Next Post: I've been considering beheading the Slaanesh (middle) chosen and providing him with a helmet. I know he is already half painted, but not sure how much I can do with that face... And a helmet would help tie him into the rest of the unit better!

The evils of running out of balsa wood. I keep buying a ton of it, then forgetting how much I use. Unfortunately then the cottage which I'm making right now's going to be missing a floor and roof for the short term then (I need it done for next week though). :(

I've gotten more Guild Ball painting done, finally finishing up the original Season 1 miniatures for the Masons team.
I also got a chance to play Airborne Commander, a solo deck-building game that I helped kickstart. The player commands units of the 101st Airborne Division during the D-Day invasion. My first game ended with a score of -2.5 Victory Points, although I did mess up a couple of the mechanics that probably didn't help me in the early game. But I'm going to be playing some more games later on tonight.

Painting and basing Wargames Factory Shock Troopers.
Gotta say, the options really surprised me, and while they're mounted on that horrid base (Which needs surgery to remove...) I still quite like them!

Been painting an Ork Battlewagon, and a squad of Boyz with a Nob. Worked on some Tau because I caved in to their awesome new kits! Now I'm just trying to figure a cool color scheme and faction...

I try keep extra models around when I'm painting something, but not necessarily to paint them all... just to use up left over paint if I've put too much out or what have you. For models I paint more or less singly, I tend to try to have 2-3 models out with a similar palette ready for painting. Sometimes I run them as a mini batch, but usually it's kind of a productivity queue. It will often end with one model finished, one closer to basecoated, and the other with just a few licks of paint. Just while stuff's drying.
Need to get back to these zombies but I'm feeling a bit like one meself at...m.

And picked stuff out from my largely unused Ultramarine and Chaos armies to make up a Betrayal at Calth set with the rules/cards/tiles/dice I bought for a massive 8 quid...
