Top of the pops, now with tin bitz on the engines and a basecoast of Necron Abyss. Great stuff these foundation paints. Too bad they totally redid their line...AGAIN.

The salvaged Canopies came off of this beast, and will return to it.

It amuses me that you lavish massive attention on ork bitz and bobs, tank commanders, and other details...

But interior details like a cockpit you find distasteful?

Well... perhaps if it was called a beaverden rather than a cockpit... it might have more attraction for me!

OT, great tut Briancj; I'm on the fence, but do tend to paint interiors also. My Valk is the one place I may deviate from this, as I found it a beast to assemble and so it's slightly off-kilter inside.

He DOES have a point, you can hardly ever actually SEE the cockpit details after the canopy is on anyways. It reminds me of painting car model kits when I was a kid..spend all that time painting the speedo and radio dials with a toothpick and enamel paints, and then you can't see it after the hardtop was on. I was the only person in the whole world who knew that detail was there...I dunno, it's just a sense of completion thing or something.

@ AnUnearthlyChilde- That was for Brian said he's been snipping sprue and consolidating his stuff.

@ dstein- I've always "buttoned up" my models (Rhinos, Land Raiders, etc) for 2 reasons- no one would ever see all the fiddly detail I put in, and it also allowed me to gut any bitz that could be better used on something else instead of sitting in encapsulated dankness forever.

*I* know it is there.

No, in all seriousness, I understand. I mean, really, I think most folks should just paint the canopies and be done with it.

Personal choice.. I Paint mine cause they are there. However Git is right, it is an alternitive. My problem is that most painted cockpits are not done very well.

In honest, I think more people should just paint their models. I have an adversion to playing a unpainted army. I mean how hard is it to get a few colors on it . ( Ok I may be proven wrong by the pictures of the original Valks Brian is fixing up. )

Like the dark colors on the Valk. bty

Playing with or against unpainted models is against my personal standards. It's nothing more than laziness IMHO.

Yey, more people who paint the insides of vehicles, cockpits, pilots etc etc.

I felt so alone, now my cause feels galvanised!

HUZZAH!

Whilst I agree that it's a good feeling to know the inside is paint, I also like to think it's doing the sculpt justice. You know, since the designer could be bothered to make the interiors for us to look at to help create the illusion I feel it's only right to paint it up.

Besides, it helps spin out the 'hobby time', and therefore also a money-saving tip (if you make yourself stop purchasing while things are WIPing).

So, a quick personal note. I hate it when toys aren't played with. This may be sappy, but being able to salvage 'junk' and bring it back to the tabletop gives me a deep feeling of satisfaction, both as an adult, and my inner child. Pew. Pew. Pew*.

The 10th Rapid Response Squadron, those Imperial Navy pilots known as the "Diamond Dogs", have long been one of the Navy's premiere acrobatic teams. Going from world to world, being the posterboys for the Imperial Navy, this was their life. And then, they were assigned to the ill-fated Magos expedition, and lost in the warp.

Now, they have to be real wingmen, fighting for their lives in the skies and stars.

Callsign "Harridan"

V-Flight Four, Lt. Petrus and Ensign Galander. Wingmen to V-Flight Eight, Lt. Finalus and Ensign Hariso.

-------

And a quick Before and After, for giggles:

Please note, the paint jobs on these are supposed to be crisp and clean. They're the equivalent of the Blue Angels. Only a little bump-and-grind will be applied to these. Plus, and three of them will be salvage ops, I do not want to derail my progress on catching up train.

*Yes, I flew around the house with both of these, going, NNRNNRRNEERRROOWWWWWW DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA.

Oddly, it is fluff. 'nids wiped out Ryza, and the good El-Tee is a monster-hunter. Thus, "Harridan".
