The plaguebearers have come up really nicely. I love the subtle colour blends (which you also do with greenskin lips). The Chaos marine looks good as well, but the plaguemarines take it for me.

Ooo, always interesting to see someone else paint a model that I have already done (doesn't happen as often as you might think).

Nice take. Like the colour.

Dr H I'll be doing the cultist militia as well soon. I notice you did most of the dark vengeance set.

Thanks gitsplitta and azazelx! The orange is vallejo german orange glazed with sepia.

I did the whole set (although not the limited edition piece), which are now spread thinly across Europe.
While I'm not much of a fan of the bling-tastic Chaos marine sculpts, the cultists were quite fun to paint.

The chaos marines are quite tiresome to paint... so much baroque detail and sharp points. I've blocked in the german orange and the metallics and its taken 5 hours! Cultists will be a breeze by comparison.

What kinda price did you get if you don't mind telling? What ballpark anyway? I'm probably selling them so curious.

Yeah, the 6 Chosen models took me over 30 hours in total, whereas the two 10 man Cultist groups took about 40 hours in total. 20 models vs 6...

As I keep track of these things I can give you exact numbers for the whole box:
These were all sold through ebay (in a friend's shop), so I didn't really get the best prices for all of them.
Excluding my time, I did make a good profit on the boxes' cost though.

Bronze level models;
SM Tactical squad = £40
SM Bikers = £35
Chosen = £40
Cultists (Tetchvar) = £45
Cultists (Anarkus) = £40

Silver level;
SM Terminators = £55

Gold level models;
SM Librarian = £35
SM Company master = £25
Kranon = £25
Helbrute (Heavily converted, magnetised, with all the extras) = £175

I found the squads were much easier to sell compared to the individual characters, but as it's ebay, results may vary. Good luck.

Thanks that's good to know. I've a lot of experience ebaying books and other media so hopefully it'll work out. I probably wont ask much for the

Here's a link to the plaguebearers sale if anyone wants. If its not gone by the end of the month I know someone who will buy them so get it while its hot! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182054334365?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I'll probably sell the chosen for a lot less - there's less of them and the models themselves are very common on ebay.

Very lovely indeed, and a reminder that old skool paintjobs can look amazing on contemporary models.

Hiya peeps. Yes the chosen were much duller in their official GW photo. I went with my gut on them rather than looking at source material and so ended up lurid. I've considered a final wash of dilute umber-grey to give em more grimdark shadow, but I'm indecisive. Your thoughts dakkites?

I always end up replying at half five in the morning for some reason. I was too busy sticking my overkill together yesterday. Another box of dark vengence is due today as well so expect cultists and dark angels.

Overkill is rather tempting be interested to see what you do with it.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

The plaguebearers are stunning, awesome stuff! And I'm so jealous of your chosen CSM - they're better'n mine by a country mile! My excuse is that I found them too detailed (if you catch my drift)... Found it hard to get motivated to do a bang up job on them...

Hello dakkites. I am drowning in miniatures at the moment and had a wide choice today. I decided to hold fire on genestealer hybrids and go for the order and simplicity of space marines. This is how far I got today, a wash of sepia-grey and some nice bright green and silver on all the metals, then I worked armour wash into the lower legs and feet for a dirty battlefield grime. Next I'll ink in red on the guns and insignia.

These are going to be commercial work. If(when) I paint a space marine army for fun, it'll be the 80s beakies I've got stashed away probably. Not that this isn't fun. Its nice to paint something large, plastic and simple, restful for the fingers after the chaos models.

Thanks camkierhi I hope you get that bone feel down...
I cannot recommend these washes enough - http://www.amazon.com/Vallejo-Wash-Set-17Ml/dp/B004RO3UCU%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q%26tag%3Dduckduckgo-ffnt-uk-21%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB004RO3UCU

Of course when I say I applyed a wash, its not enough just to splash it on and hope for the best, you need to control the wash and keep an eye on it while it dries, adding extra here and there or taking it away as necessity demands. I use a brush and sometimes my fingers...

Thanks EDC
