Hey everyone,

Was checking out the Games Workshop site a few days ago and I just couldn't resist the new Genestealer Cult release, so I gave in and pulled out my wallet. So the expected arrival includes:
-Broodcoven
-Acolyte Hybrids
-Neophyte Hybrid (worker gangs)x2
-Goliath Truck

As you all may have noticed the title of this blog indicates that this particular Genestealer cult has taken root in the working populace of a Forge World. Along with that theme I intended to include an opposing army in the collection of Skitarii/Vostroyan Firstborn allies who will serve as the loyal defenders of said Forge World. I have already purchased and started quite a few of the Vostroyans some time ago, so I'll be sure to upload pictures and progress of them as well as the Genestealer Cult as I make progress.


The first progress I have made on the Genestealer Cult was commandeering an extra Leman Russ I had kicking around. It was intended for my Chaos Renegades (I'll start up an active blog for them sometime), but it will now serve the Cult as an old Leman Russ that had been in storage on their Forge World, and was put into service by them.

The tank is roughly 75% done, I still want to clean it up a bit, add some weathering, and paint on some insignia/cult symbols (possibly a red or purple cult symbol on the side).

Are the cult's vehicles going to all have the same base colour or are they going to be a mix?

Hi Captain,

about the vehicles-I was intending to have any Imperial Guard units (such as the Russ) have that same base color to show that they came from the same storage unit on the Forge World.

The Goliath truck however I plan to paint differently since it seems to be more of a re-purposed work vehicle that the worker gangs used-I will probably paint it a light grey unless there are other ideas.

So the latest update is that apparently my Genestealer Cult is on back-order...

In the meantime I have been working on the vehicles intended for my Cult, a Leman Russ, and a Sentinel. The Russ is about done, other than the Cult symbols I want to add to it and I'm not sure if I want to freehand it or wait and see if there are decals or anything interesting that comes with my order. The Sentinel only has the base color, as you can see. The driver is WIP, and I'm thinking I will replace his head with a hybrid one (when the order arrives of course).

Will be watching this with interest, my current dio I'm building is also based on cult insurgence on a mineing/manufacturing planet

Alright so I've got a bit of work done on the Sentinel, it's about done just needs a few more finishing touches, let me know what you guys think. In terms of any Cult insignia, I'm still waiting on the actual Genestealer Cult order to arrive until I see to that, and it seems it may be awhile...

Alright so after a very long delay, the Cult has finally arrived! (Minus the broodcoven for some odd reason).

Anyway here they are, and I should be posting later today once they are assembled.

Like the tank, good work.

So there's been some delays on my progress, but I've gotten the Cult assembled for the most part. Nothing too exciting yet, nonetheless here are some quick pics, and there will be many more very shortly:

Alright so I've managed to get the two Neophyte Hybrid squads, as well as the Acolyte squad based and given a gray base-coat (unfortunately it went on a little thick, so I will have to remember to be careful with the spray), but they are about ready to be painted. I am still undecided as to the color-scheme I am going to use for them, but considering the theme is that this is a "Forge World" insurrection, I definitely want to do something along the lines of a Mechanicus worker scheme.

Also, the Goliath truck is almost assembled, and the long awaited Broodcoven finally arrived in the mail today, so here's some more pics:

I had some time to paint this evening, so i got some work done on the Magus, which is a wonderful mini in my opinion. I want to do a bit more work on him, so the image is WIP. So far, I've been avoiding the Hybrids because I can't make up my mind about a color scheme. I'm thinking grey work fatigues and metallic or bronze armor, or some combo of the two. Also will be including red in various areas to indicate Mechanicus influence. Anyone with ideas feel free to share.
