Hey I can be number 2!

I thought about trains for awhile, but too expensive and space taking for me right now. I would love to make a modern layout though.

And rescue valks would be awesome to see.

I, in fact, regularly go to the Hobby Bunker, in Malden, which is a few blocks away from the former Wargames Factory now Defiance Games!

Yes, true about the steam locomotives. But damn, so many of Britains' bad boys came here to start up.

Thanks for all the kind words! My army isn't nearly as large as my previous IG army, which had grown to about 120 men, 32 rough riders, two Baneblades, and about 20 Chimera and Russ-hulled variants.

So, here's Salvage Valk #2. Thanks to the successful salvage of the canopies from #1, and a pair of canopies from poda_t, I should be set on canopies for the entire project!

This Valk is in fairly good shape. Missing the rear ramp, rear landing gear (worst part on the valk is the rear landing gear, shears off if you look at it wrong), a side-door, one engine intake, and the pilot and gunner have lost their heads. Otherwise, it is a good Valk. The original owner did an okay paint job, edged all the panel lines, painted the cockpit, etc.

I'm going to repaint the pilots, give them their heads back, and that'll be that. I've already salvaged parts from the bitz box, and the remaining Salvage Valk. I'm going to try and build a replacement tail and the 'elevator' wing between the booms, before going to eBay and buy bitz. If I can manage this, then I can move to painting this Valk immediately.

This Valk is going to be a 'rescue' craft, since I've always wanted to paint THIS scheme:

We'll see how it goes, I have a selection of Tamiya painting tape coming to me in the next couple of days.

A little more work needs to be done, some edging and some 'nega-rivet' drilling, but the new tailplanes are IN PLACE.

Nice repair job on that Valk.

I like the red and white paint scheme, my initial thought was barbershop pole though: *)

Can't wait to see it painted up.

I would have to do a major disassembly job to get at the interior, so probably no divers/equipment on this one, alas.

I have purchased the bitz required to salvage the last Valk to full flight status from Imperial Armoury. They're in the UK, so it'll take awhile to get here, but that's okay. Total cost for all three Valks is now at a little under $70, and I'm happy with that number.

Hopefully, the bitz to finish the last of my Tau projects will be here soon, so I can finish them and paint them and throw them up for sale. Time to move my old Dark Angels collection to eBay as well.

I had forgotten how much I hate painting red.

Cockpit glass and frames thoughtfully provided by poda_t for an absolutely reasonable price. I had to replace one section of the glass thanks to an overly aggressive postal service. Cockpit glass in place temporarily for the shot.

Hi, kids! Miss me? Forget who I am? That's okay. Dakka is fickle.

Have a Rescue Valk! I'm at the point where all the main colors have been laid down, layered, re-layered, and OMFG I HATE PAINTING RED AND WHITE WHY DID I DO THIS TO MYSELF?!

Here's some in-progress pictures, so you can see the layers going down.

And here's the primary painting complete. Next up, putting dark back into the recesses, chipping it up, and applying decals. A bit of work needed on the interior cockpit details.

Actually it looks like a rescue plane. You should put a big white cross on the wings and fuesellage (sp).
