No Inquisition missions? Perhaps this is the end of them as a standalone race?
Liking the sound of the kill team type mission, but HQ Duel seems a bit lame (duels are more of a fantasy thing if you ask me) and the 3 Baneblades Vs... is just an excuse to shift some plastic.

Info from Mr. The Custodian from Warseer
Guys that commando missions isnt called Commando...
Its called Kill Team (Yeah I know)
Not allot like the old one... All models act on thier own, 200 pts max
You may select 3 models in your armies and give them any USR from the book. None of the specialists may have the same rule.
No restrictions other than what was mentioned before
0-1 ELite
0-2 Troops
0-1 Fast Attack
__________________
Saw the other missions also, seems that there are a couple that allow Super Heavies, the Baneblade one (a whole normal 1500 pt army, vs 3 baneblades). And a marine one where they can take a thunderhawk for 900 pts (same as apoc I believe). It stays around until turn 3 before leaving the table. If the hawk is killed the marine player auto losses...
Basic run down of what I can remember, cant remember what the opponent gets all the time >.<. All armies get 3
Eldar:
Flank March, where anyone can outflank,
one where kill points are used allot (every aspect warrior and enemy troops gives 2 KP's and hqs 3 or something like that)
Nids:First one has the table divided into 6 parts. Every nid unit starts in reserves and comes in on a table edge decided by a D6 (each number correspoding to a table section)... Im not sure but I think all non vehicle units can score
Second one the nid player divied his army onto 3 waves... Enemy sets up sorta like this
***++++++***
***++++++***
************
************
Nid player sends in one wave per turn, choosing which of the 3 edges he wants to come in. Cant come in on one used by another wave previously.
Last nid one makes all area terrain dangerous terrain. Nids get stealth on all models, while the enemy gets prefered enemy
Dark Eldar
All dark eldar missions have the DE player going first on a 2+
One of them has it stay night fight rule every turn unless a 6 is rolled at the end of the turn... SOme other bonuses but cant remember (again)
Second one is a slave/prisoner fight. Whenever an enemy looses or killed in assault (doesnt matter if they are sweeped or remain in assault) they count up the models lost (Not sure exactly how this works... Once again, cant remember)... GUy who has the most prisoners wins...
Marines:
Initial assault, this is the thunderhawk one im talking about... All marine infantry can score.
Gaurd:
Battle of attrition, all enemy and gaurd troops have Without Number
This is all I can remember off the top of my head... WHile some seem overpowered the enemy gets bonuses also...
Automatically Appended Next Post: and more info, thanks to Messrs. Sovietspace and Scryer in the darkness for the intell
Right then guys, I have seen and had a good look at the shiny new battle missions book, and I've come to share what I have learned! First off, lets get a good look at the missions themselves, in full:
Chaos Marines
1. Pillage
2. Black Crusade
3. Scorched Earth
Chaos Daemons
1. Night Fight
2. Invasion
3. Fight to the Death
Dark Eldar
1. Dawn Raid
2. Slave Raid
3. Feigned Retreat
Eldar
1. Pre-emptive Strike
2. Flank Attack
3. Mobile Defence
Imperial Guard
1. Prepared Assault
2. War of Attrition
3. Trench Warfare
Necrons
1. Ambush
2. Reconnaissance in Force
3. Implaccable Advance
Orks
1. Blitzkrieg
2. Waaagh!
3. Cut & Run
Space Marines
1. Vanguard
2. Surprise Attack
3. All-round Defence
Tau
1. Vertical Envelopment
2. Counter-Attack
3. Fighting Withdrawal
Tyranids
1. First Contact
2. Wave Assault
3. Infestation
Universal (all armies)
1. Kill Team
2. Linebreaker
3. Clash of Heroes
So then, what else can I tell you. Well, first the book itself is very nice. Its well put together, some good bits of fluff and some great shots of models/battles. I'm also happy to say I can allay some fears about the race-specific missions. Although they are clearly designed with each army in mind, this is more from a fluff point of view. It is clear that any army could happily play any mission, indeed this is expressed in the foreword. There is no reason why a Marine army couldn't play the Counter-Attack mission in the role normally filled by Tau, for example. This means we are in effect getting 33 new missions, as opposed to the few for whatever races your gaming group has.
As far the missions themselves go, they are a mixed bag. Some are subtle changes of deployment zone or objective placement, while others are really off the wall or ingenious. My personal favourite so far is a Guard mission that has a random bombardment. This involves cutting out bombardment counters, holding them 36'' above the table and letting them 'flutter' down. Wherever they rest suffers a large blast hit. I think this is a really simple but awesome idea (though not one for tournaments). There are other similar surprises throughout the book.
Finally I'm going to highlight the last three missions. Not only do we see a slightly modified return of Kill Team, but also a hero centric battle where only characters are allowed to kill off other characters. These seem like a real blast to play, and I'll be trying them out as soon as I can.
...
Further to the much talked about Space Marines mission - Thunderhawk costs 900 points and takes up one each of Elite, Fast Attack and Heavy Support slots. Arrives automatically on Turn 1, takes off on Turn 3. If destroyed, Space Marines lose the mission automatically.

I saw something in the other thread that makes me think that it's just the killing blow that needs to be done by the character, and that all your units can do damage, just not kill them.
If not, think about the new 'nid codex with the Doom of Malan'tai...

You don't need special characters to be viable for Clash, you can use any HQ. The condition for special characters is that they are worth 1d6 Kill Points when they go down.

You can kill the other Named Character at range. Doesn't have to be HTH. Suddenly Shadowsun becomes rather vicious with her twin fusion blasters and jetpack.... VPs are only awarded for models killed by the Named Characters, with automatic victory should one of them be slain themselves. For models part of a larger unit, you divide the cost of the unit by the number of models to get each ones VP. So having added up what they've minced during the game, you then deduct the characters cost from the total. This done, highest total wins. Luvverly!

Yeah, so if the opponent has some big expensive hard to kill hero unit, you can try to keep him tarpitted with cheap expendable units (or just keep the hell away from him) so he can't make his pointcost back.
I do wonder how vehicle-based hero units will be handled though. Like Tank Command Pask in a Leman Russ or Master Sammael in his Landspeeder.

Sammael is a named character, whereas I suspect Pask and other non HQ 'characters' are more viewed as singular upgrades.
I'm not sure on this, so probably best to discuss with one's opponent before hand as to exactly what counts. For me, has to be The Swarmlord!
Oh, and it does say if you don't have any Named Characters in your Citadel Miniatures collection, you can use any HQ or Monstrous Creature. So perhaps Pask does count?
