Very nice indeed, I am always impressed by people who manage to tame my mortal enemy: Yellow.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

I wish I could get my camera to show the contrast better. My yellows are highlight with a brown rust shading. Doesn't translate very well in the pics. Lost of practicing.

Or what I meant to say ... thanks.

Great army. This inspired me to love the Badab war, so I'm gonna try to make some Howling Griffons or Mantis Warriors.

I like the pod solar. I know you mentioned you were still doing some final touches but it occurred to me that you damaged the pod but kept a nice clean white. It messes with my senses a bit. The white is awesome just seems a bit out of place with the great battle damage.

Nice job on the red heart / tear lamenter symbol btw.

Thanks all.

Ice: Very true.. yep haven't done the oil weathering yet. This should tone down the white. Thou I must admit I have a preference to the white as it represents the heraldic element of the chapter. Some of the white sections do have a little more damage. Just not the one you see in the pic.

I actually tried doing a stencil for the heart symbol .Total failure. Future learning and practice item. If anyone has any tips, I'd be appreciative.

Nice looking drop pod SL. For stencil tips, try printing it out on your printer first, then you can cut it out and use the paper directly or if you want, trace the cutout onto masking tape, then cut out the masking tape and use the tape on the model. I did the paper only method for my skull for my DC rhino a year ago. Worked ok but did have a bit of cleanup to do afterwards.

Thanks egg.. means a lot.

I tried both. For such a small heart and drop I had massive bleed thru. it was all clean up at that point. It became easier to paint them by hand . Not perfectly matching but still close.I made a specific design choice to only include them on one side, same with the ramp checkers.

At 50 my hand eye cord is not what it used to be.
I'll try a larger stencil - when I re-do my SR.

You could use a stencil as a guide to draw the heart using a illustration pen, then just paint it in by hand. You could use a red pen, that way you wouldn't have to worry about painting over the line.

Looking very formidable. I'd take a pic of my 1000 pt army, but then I'd have to weep uncontrollably.

SL army shot looks nice though you really need a better camera. Your current pics don't appear to be doing your paint jobs or models any justice.

Seeing a Lamenters WIP army always makes me want to start a new army. Awesome scheme, awesome rules, what's not to like.

Your doing a great job solar lion
I would NEVER sally forth into the wild yellow yonder. Painting yellow is so painfully brutal. In all honesty i am not sure how you do it. BTW. the suggestion that was made about using the artists pen and the stencil to draw in the bleeding heart. Priceless. i am so stealing that.
i too also love the fact that you are modelling up a lesser known chapter. and one that has scout bikes. Amazing. keep up the good work.

Thanks Palehorse, Ouze, MPand Avatrass.

Yellow is getting easier. I use a red rust as a base and shading. I find that it works well with Sepia and depending on the Yellow layer, It bleeds through very nicely.
On my figures I use Eggrolls method of highlighting. so some under areas and edges are just the rust color. I try to let some of it bleed thru to the upper plates by top down ABing a lighter yellow. So far so good. Yellow just takes some practice to figure out what secondary colors look good with it. Personally I find white the hardest to do . But recently started adding a bit of blue/grey to my whites and they look more subdued and allow for a white highlight.I recently did this on my side panels on a Vindicator. still looks white but not bright white. Learn as I go. I'll try to get a picture up.

Also started my Death company. Swapped out the heads for he skull looking chaos heads. Removed the arrow on the forehead. I like the way they look. The plan is to paint them white with red X's. Giving them a Bone look. I'll still do the Lamenter badge on the shoulder. Hopefully have a test paint job this week.

Sennacherib: Thank. Yellow was a pain to start with, but It's getting easier with time and the slow learning curve of using my air brush. Thank Git for the stencil Idea. Honestly sometimes the simple solutions are overlooked. We started the Badad war armies in responce to going to Adepticon. Since Git already had the Mantis warriors and I didn't relish the paint scheme for the Tiger claws or the Eexecutioners, I started the Lamenters.

Scout bikes are useful in the right combination of units. See some of Gits battle reports. He has used them sucessfully multiple times. However timing is everything.

Comments always welcome.
