Also I'm up to about 35 images on this model's progress alone now. Definite record for me.
I brightened up the eyes a touch. It seemed when I washed them before to have the pupil glow brighter than the rest of the eye, I forgot to go back and actually make it brighter with white.
Same with the sword face.
I'm thinking the grass itself can be sort of dense in the middle around the rock and maybe weave out around the runes into a sort of ring of it at the very edge, kind of only leaving the runes and the slight glowing areas around them uncovered by it. Since the grass is really dense for the rest of the force, though I'm not quite sure about this either I could just do the grass in the middle and sort of stretch out in between some of the runes instead.
Funny thing is I slipped while highlighting the sword so had to brighten up the glow. I've also noticed I haven't spread the glow onto the head yet either so I suppose I'll do that and the hilt before flocking it and finishing it.
Not much of a change today, OSL glow has been extended to the head like it probably should be and the base now has the grass. Basically this is just the final WIP shot to look for flaws before I take the proper picture for the gallery. After all of this might even make it its own thread in the showcase section and likely a new group shot for the signature.
Perhaps a touch more of a highlight on the hilt, I had meant to paint it a different colour but it being black sort of grew on me so I just let it build up a little.
Also Vik you've sort of given me an idea.
Viktor von Domm wrote:ha! now i have remembered why i like that model...it reminds me heavy on the draneei form WOW...no wonder she looks so sexed up!^^
The name can be much easier if I just steal the one my Draenei hunter had when I used to play WoW. I'm thinking maybe "Iluni, the elegant huntress".

"Your mumblings are awakening the sleeping Dragon, be wary when meddling the affairs of Dragons, for thou art tasty and go good with either ketchup or chocolate. "
Dragons fear nothing, if it acts up, we breath magic fire that turns them into marshmallow peeps. We leaguers only cry rivets!

Once the Deneb Stone was dry it was time to carefully paint all areas that were not going to be flesh black. After that all areas that are to be pink or purple were based with Liche Purple, though not too much on the non-pink areas to let the black through a little. As usual all the OSL is left to last. Sort of annoying as screwing it up screws up a lot.
Countess Marianna Chevaux from Games Workshop's Mordheim game. The hand with the sword is a separate piece and I switched it with one I cut off a hand from a Dark Elf warrior kit.
a very good looking piece! and i like how you added more grass to the base still... now the runes look truly like they are "growing" up through the grass...
seeing that small warband now... have you considered a gloss varnish on these damsels? i would understand if you don´t like that... just a thought that crossed my mind...
Thought hadn't occured to me actually. I do have the GW gloss varnish just sitting around gathering dust (back when I was told gems are drybrush and gloss varnish... ).
But, I've been having a sort of crazyish idea about the fiends. To push my sculpting to its limit and try to create my own. Basically to sculpt a Lamia.
Spoiler:
My sculpting however sucks a bit. The left one could be a perfect ninja turtle, that's what I see when I see the face.
Though I'd have to create maybe 12 in total so I'll just give it a thought while looking for decent alternatives. If it fails I could always fall back to the spider rider conversion that seems to be popular... Either way, that's what these blogs are for; throwing ideas out there when you get them whether you think it good later and go with it or look back at how dumb it all sounded.
But first there is painting Iluni's sister and also making a tutorial of how I paint these Daemonettes with one or a couple of the basic models, simply because I've never really felt I had anything decent enough to write up as one.

i think if you kitbash some nid stuff and some eldar or daemonette stuff together with a bit of minor sculting you should pull that one off quite niceley... never played a game of FF by the way... i bet there is a lot of inspirational stuff in that series of games tho...
and i do like your pillar deamons... they are cute...which isn´t wrong with deamon at all... they get even creepier thus^^
what you really should do is make a really indepth step by step as to how you achieve that magniificent glow effect... makes me so envius...with details and effects like that it is always upsetting me what a subpar painter i am ...:((
Might be able to pull the kit bashing off, I've seen a few have ravener ones. Not too sure of them myself, but may work with a more beast-like approach.
It's half aesthetic, half fiends cost $40 each and I think they look horrid.
Found a picture of the sort of kit bash you were mentioning.
Not sure I'd do it that way, they look a little... fat I guess you could say. The join doesn't look as smooth as I'd like.
yep... i pictured it better...but then again it is milliput all the way for you i think...i think you are capable to pull that off better than that kitbash tho^^
ah ok... first i was a bit worried...but as you stated at the end pre washes... for me the cloth was a bit too bright... tho the hair looks again perfect!^^
what will happen to the moonshaped thingy on the upper torso?
