I don't mind metals... but you can always experiment with NMM.

Finished the 2010 Gamesday Chaos Sorcerer!

<insert thunderous applause>

This is how far behind I am in my painting... So very much! ^_^

- PINK: The pink highlighting doesn't quite show on the photos, but there's a little more there than it looks. I actually started with a deep purple base and went to pink from there, but I wasn't really happy with the look so I washed it with Red Gore, and went to pink from that.
- BLUE: The blue hasn't really been touched since the last photos save for some tidying.

Everything else is pretty standard for me, if you've got a question feel free to ask... As always I appreciate you taking the time to view and leave some constructive criticism...

Looks very anime, in a good way. Base is a bit ott for my tastes. Might be nice to see some "magic" glowing eyes in the skulls.

Hmmm... I was actually considering the glowing eyes, but I thought then there might to much color going on...

Well, I guess it depends on the desired result. Right now, it stands as a single mini, on a tall base. If the eyes were glowing, some of the focus on the mini itself is lost, and it will become more like a mini-diorama. I'd avoid red glow, it will take to much away from the rest. A green or purple maybe?

I really like it Vent. Sort of like Hell Boy as a sorcerer. Actually I think the normal eyes are one of the best focal points... they're very well executed and really give it a "living" feel.

Great job on the hair... though I think that shoulder armor would benefit from a little free hand work.

Oooh I like that idea. I may have to do something there... Maybe a glowing rune or something...

You think all the eyes would be the same color WM?

In my mind, yeah. I think you may get Christmas light syndrome otherwise.

To clarify Gits, not talking the dudes eyes, more the skulls. I do agree on the pad, some good arcane runes or something would be cool.

Ah.... got it. It's not like if you disagree with me you'll find a severed horses head at the foot of your bed or anything.

Did I ever mention that my Grandmother was 100% Sicilian?

Nice job Vent, digging the base

Agreed with Gits that the pad needs something - the bare metal doesn't seem to work with that mini (for me at least ), and with WM about some glowing eyes - but not all of them.

And I love how you complain about how far behind you are because you've just finished a two year old mini. I'd guess half my unpainted stuff is older than half of Dakka

My maternal grandmother. But it wouldn't matter as my grandmothers' maiden names and my last name have nothing to do with each other.

Hmmmm...

From a personal perspective: Forgefiend or Maulerfiend?

Either is fine with me... What about you?

Well, the current rule set leans towards shooting over h-t-h, if that helps. The forge fiend looks pretty cool to me.

Don't worry about the rules. I doubt I'll ever actually play a game. This is more just a 'oooooh I like that' kind of thing. But that is one for the forgefiend

I am planning to scratchbuild a Forgefiend myself, mostly because of how shooty he is.... and the fact that everyone is calling the new kits "dinobots" and I think a Trex skeleton suitably nurglified and kitted out with massive assault cannons will look hilarious

Since I painted the Chaos sorcerer above I've had a small voice in the back of my head to paint things pink... I wonder what a Pink Forgefiend would look like?

Uumm, might just be me but you may want to avoid the version with Ectoplasma cannons.... he already looks geigerish with a pink paintjob he would look positively phallic

Hey Vent, was hoping you could help me out with a paint recipe!

I have 60 Plague Zombies to paint and am planning on drenching their lower jaw, chest and hands with blood and gore. How did you get the blood on your Marine Vs Dark Eldar diorama to look so black and realistic?

Cheers,

Blackhand
