Yeah, if I remember correctly, the White Scars spent most of the Heresy running around in circles being thoroughly trolled by the Alpha Legion, who had been tasked with delaying them form joining any of the fronts, along with a couple of other Legions who escape me atm, and they just about made it to Terra for the big finale, but as Alpharius said, they made it in near full strength. Therefore I think they could be a relatively easy Legion to shoe-horn into another book, as they don't have much of a campaign or major battle until Terra, at least atm.

Did you read the newish HH book "Scars?" It deals with this pretty well (including the Alpha Legion to some extent though not in the way you describe) but is the first real look at the Legion.

Ah, so they have already begun fleshing out the background for them? I thought Scars was Great Crusade stuff?

Scars begins slightly before Isstvan, the bulk of the text handles the events around the time when the news of the Heresy reaches the legion and what happens then.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.

We all know it will be 2025 by the time the siege of Terra gets a BL book and it will be done in a quad-rilogy by C.S. Goto, with the first book in laser disc format.
The second book will be published as a handcrafted stone tablet inscribed with a GW made pictograph based language called "Fine-Speak."
Book 3 will be a GW brick and mortar store exclusive, with an employee reciting it from memory.
By the time they get to book 4 (approximately 2073) climate change will have taken its toll, making the demand for it non existent (due to humanity devolving into Lovecraft like fish monsters) with GW patting itself on the back for a job well done.

By that math FW should get to the Siege of Terra by 2134.

I personally cannot wait!

looking at the contents page, im incredibly disappointed to see no mechanicum additions apart from draycavak.

through my tears i noticed that the solar auxillia list has an 'optional heavy support' bit which is the same as the legion list red book which allows legion armies to field thallax and castellax.

after comparing contents lists of the other books it seems there are 3 pages of 'optional heavy support' open to the solar auxilia (290, 291, 292)

i think that will be; thallax, castellax and vorax.

the "forces of the..." section near the top of the contents page offers a ray of hope.

The Land Raider could be an optional Heavy Support Option, they were used by the Imperial Army during the Great Crusade and in the early Stages of the HH, until high loses and insufficient demand left them being solely reserved for use by Astarte forces.

This is the first HH book which hasn't filled me with the urge to dash out and snap it up without delay. It just doesn't seem to drive the story in the way the previous 3 did. Hopefully it won't go the way of the BL series ...

That's my fear as well, but I think that the summary cards will be quite useful given the scattered nature of the rules across multiple books. I just hope FW don't lose their minds BL-style with endless pointless filler.

I would not sweat it, FW has been very open with that it is a book to:

1.) Broaden the scope of the conflict, not everything was pure legion-on-legion warfare.

2.) Give rules to models that have none and sort said rules into proper army lists.

3.) But above all, give sculptors time to finish the backlog of models from HH 1-3 and room to be on schedule with model production for HH:5.

So yes it is a "filler book" but one that is nessecary, I for one has high hopes for a good campaign-system and alternaive playmodes (Tactical Strike) in this book, also, you get an armylist for Knights and a part of the Imperial Army so why all the fuss? The alternative was to have a 12 month-period with no new books after HH:3 and have the content of this book it shoehorned into the following 3 books ( Calth, Prospero and [Only Alan Bligh Knows] FYI.), cutting down on their content, is that what you want? No, not me either.

Following three books? Are we sure Calth is one book? I'm really worried they will stretch them out.

That's the joy of capitalism. If you don't feel a product meets your cost to benefit ratio you're totally free to get something you actually want.

I've been looking forward to it for a while now so I slotted in as one of my $100+ hobby purchases for the year.

I'd be surprised if it where. I suspect one book will be devoted to the planetside battle and another for the void war stuff. That IMO isn't padding as there is enough there to take up two books but if they tack on a third then it will be.

I have not heard any chatter about Calth getting three books, I think that is just standard paranoia from the fanbase, Calth is large enough of a battle to get it's own book but three? come on, be a bit rational.
Yes, the first arc got three books but it covers Isstvan III (purging the loyalists), Isstvan V (Drop Site Massacre), The 100 day hunt for Corax and the surviving XIX Legion on Isstvan V, The battle of Paramar and the battle of Phall.

Also, remember that the fall of Prospero was supposed to be book 4, but due to unforseen trouble with balance in playtesting with the Thousand Sons and Custodian Guard it was pushed to book 5, Calth, initially planned for book 5 took Prospero's place. Then they realised they needed more time to tackle the backlog and they -did- have enough new minis to cover a whole bookrelease, and they did need to get that campaign system out into print that they had been working on.

Thus book 4 became war in the gothic sector with knights and imperial army (+Legion sideshow), Calth got back to bookrelease 5 and Prospero slid back into bookrelease 6 (probably to the great relief of the playtesters).

Why do people angst so much over this? It's really quite hillarious to watch.

Who said three? I think most people I've seen said two, personally I think it'll be one as they showed off a lot of UM stuff at Warhammerfest, more than enough to match what the other legions had for the other books.

I'm not expecting Prospero at all next year, but I've no idea what the 6th book will be, wouldn't surprise me to be a full Dark Mechanicum list and two legions.

I thought the talk was 2 books. And that makes sense to me -- one that gets down-and-dirty on Calth, and another that covers the other actions during the Shadow Crusade.

Go through the Imperial Fist notable battles, the final conclusion of, I think, the 2nd story has what you seek.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

There are so many cool things happening in Forge World at the moment. First up is the soon to be released upgrade set for the Imperial Fists Legion,. I got a few quick shots of some of the parts from the kit before it was whisked away to Production, and also some models the Studio have built up with it using Legion MkIV Maximus Armour.

Parts from the new upgrade kit.

Imperial Fists made using the upgrade kit.

The tickets for the Horus Heresy Weekender 2015 have arrived and I’m told they’ll be on sale early next week. The Horus Heresy Weekender this year was fantastic, and there’ll be more information on next year’s event soon. All I can reveal for now is that it’s at the Belfry Hotel in Nottingham on Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th February, and if I wasn’t working at the event, I’d be ordering my ticket the moment they go on sale given how quickly they sold out last year. Hopefully I’ll see you there!

The first of the tickets for The Horus Heresy Weekender 2015.

Talking of all things Heresy-related, one of the first copies of The Horus Heresy Book Four – Conquest Special Edition somehow made its way to my desk this week, if only fleetingly. The special edition, presented in its own slipcase that also contains a massive poster and four double-sided quick reference cards, looks fantastic. Once my own copy arrives, the poster is going straight up on the wall and the quick reference cards will be coming to every game with me – they’re going to see plenty of use mid-game when I usually forget weapons stats and special rules! If you want to get your hands on one, make sure you get your order in very soon.
