Original post:

So last year we had the Dakka awards ceremony, here's me hoping that one of the technical wizards behind the scenes can dig up this years information in the next few days as it was well received last year.

Here's a link to last years winners and Kid Kyoto's thread....
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/628321.page

Here's an edited list of ones to watch this year.....

Thanks for a great year guys.

Would be hard to judge "quality" of posts- which is already subjective.

Well they have split them into quantity and quality (votes/exalts). I would say that's about the best you can do.

I suppose you could add up the number of characters (or words) posted not inside a quote tags. It's not really a judge of "quality", since "blah blah blah" is 3 words, but generally, if a post has more words in it, it will have more... brain cells consumed to produce... than a post that says, "LOL... Exalted!" or "I like!"

Most Gallery Votes might be another?

Also: perhaps a composite score that assigns a percentage to each of the categories and adds them up. So, most exalted thread gives you 1/5 of the score, exalts 1/5, posts 1/5, gallery images 1/5, etc.

Thanks for keeping it fun, and running the website, guys

I'd like to see that as well.

I"m certain there are plenty of posters that have far exceed me, but going on the handful of forums I hang out in, not many people have as many gallery votes as I do (though there is someone in this thread that is close!).

I'd like to give a shout out to:

Buttery and Paradigm for running the monthly painting challenge, by far one of my favourite threads and a great example of some community spirit.

Reds8n for always finding these quirky and interesting wargaming articles.

GMM and Devidov for seriously inspirational painting in the galleries, really inspiring stuff.

Crablezworth for the little camera results thread and great style batreps.

Arbiterian and Hulksmash for keeing the 40k torunament, reference sheets and formations guides and rules up to date, good job guys!

Dman controversial as he may seem, I found his topics quite interesting and at least they generate a bit of banter rather than the usual dull "what army should I be?".

And finally to the batrep guys, a shout out - various contributors in there. Takes a lot of time and effort to put together a good and informative batrep. Kudos.

Clearly, this does not take into account BrookM's contributions to a certain thread in the DCM forums...

Wasn't even thinking along those lines...until now. I assumed it was a series of photos of your cat dressed as sisters of battle. Now, I'm assuming the cat is a repentia.

Honestly, my love for 2015 goes to Dakka at large. On the whole I don't think I've experienced such a well-natured, helpful forum where folks motivate one another. There are disagreements, but they're handled expertly by mods who are so done with your gak well practised, and rarely do I see the vitriol freshly available elsewhere.
Good on you, guys.

 BobtheInquisitor wrote:

Does it sell it if I say there's also a thread for cookery, plus one where we detail the various weird jobs and experiences that don't make it onto resumes/polite conversation?
Also blogs and projects from shy members.

Freeze dried vitriol is the worst. Has that rehydrated taste.
Accept only vitriol you see prepared fresh, no pre-ground instant jars, either.
