Do you remember the 2nd ed Devs with shoulder-mounted metal guns? The only way to ensure they wouldn't fall apart was to pin them in at least two places each.

I missed those, although I think I have one I got in a batch somewhere. I only caught the tail end of 2nd, sat most of it out as it was a busy time in my life.

Metal kits constructed without regards to the laws of physics are another fun topic. Eldar dreadnoughts, hive tyrants, penetent engines. Good times…

This is an Inquisitorial Land Raider from 4th ED. I picked it up as an EBay refugee some time ago.
The previous operator had painted it red with some black shadowing from an airbrush, but otherwise unfinished.
I just needed to do the detail painting.
Unfortunately the new Inquisitorial Agents does not allow them anymore. Although, I could use Agents in a space marine list and just count it as an Astartes vehicle. I don't think GW wants Agents of the Imperium to be a real codex. I'm guessing they don't want the trouble of balancing it. It's just a place to park the rules for all the Kill Team minis people want to use in the main game. I hope they change their mind later in 11th ED. It would also be a nice way to get a few Necromuda minis in it too. May a few gangs as mercenaries for the Inquisitor.

While it would be nice to do a pure force, I kinda get GW point. I think the primary job of the agent’s codex is to splash flavor units into other armies. But I’ve been unhappy with how they have structured their rules for a while now.

Nice to see a LR get some love. A more elegant tank from a more civilized time.

Could you use the LR as a counts as for something else? Honestly they are such iconic models, you may as well design a whole space marine chapter around the Land Raider now.

Reminds me to get on painting up my old Crimson Consuls LR as a new Black Templar one.

I'm hoping Land Raiders survive 11th ED.

I guess it could work in a Grey Knight's unit, Although I only have a limited number of Grey Knight Terminators.

Alright, the statue is done. I'm happy with it and I'll be looking to do more sometime in the future. I also have a few unpainted terminators I'm thinking of using as statues on the outside a small crypt like building. So, that's it for now.

Well, back to the Land Raider. The weapons are done and I have started on the hull.
I do have the Forge World spaced armor and Ultramarine doors on it. I even pimped out the multi melta station a bit with a searchlight.
I was thinking about going back and magnetizing the rear doors so I could also have the option of putting it together as a Terminus Ultra Land Raider.
Maybe sometime later? So, until later.

If you magnetize the rear doors you could also take advantage of putting the guns either on the front two or back two! Anyone remember those arguments? I think the terminus ultra is such a niche option, it’s probably not worth all the effort, just for the option of something you are never going to do. But that’s tainted by my pretty low opinion of the tank. If you love it, obviously the odds of it happening go up.

Nice painting progress!

Wow, great work on the statue and the heat effect on the guns!

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

I have a bunch of magnetized weapons from my Predators and Razorbacks that it wouldn't take much to do.
I'm just worried about breaking those resin doors trying to get them off now.

Thank you.

I think I'm all done with it. I'm always forget something though.
Fingers crossed they don't get sent to legends in 11th ED.

To be fair, so did all the previous editions.

The first half of 40k we had more range, but 4-6 years. After the anomaly of 6th’s 2 years we’ve been on the steady 3 year cycle.

On one hand, far too short. On the other, makes it easy to plan. I still need more troops for my company, but looking at my to do pile, I’d not get around to painting them until 11th drops, so might as well see what’s in the starter before buying a couple more boxes of intercessors.

Well I'm looking at the tail end of the Spearhead box now. Five completed Jump marines done with ten more to go.
Those last ten are about halfway painted, but I'm getting a little tired of painting blue men. so I may paint a few Krieg or orks next to change things up. I also found a Repulsor under my bed a while back that I could also do. We'll see...

That sergeant is looking great. Tanks are rad, too. Digging the heat stress. It will be a sad day when Land Raiders go to Legends.

I was hoping to see Land Raiders back again in the Inquisitorial Codex as a way to keep them around longer.

Thanks, I have been trying to do more free hand work.

I have my first Krieg up as a test. They are based on WWI french Zouave uniforms. The blue came out much lighter than I intended, but I think I like it. There is a lot more detail on them compared to Space Marines, so a few small things here and there aren't pained beyond the base color. It would take too long to paint up a hundred of these guys otherwise. These are my first plastic Kreig, but I have decent amount of the Forge World models. I won't be doing much with them until the new codex comes out though. They will be a good break from Space Marines, but I do have some Assault Intercessors coming. That's all for now.

FootGuard armies always seemed an exercise in madness. Other horde armies like orcs or nids leaned into the sloppy/rough paint or lack of details. I can paint gaunts are a good pace, but they don’t have belts, buckles, straps, pouches, etc. Contrast paints help a lot, but you still need to get the right things painted the right color.

Good luck with them!

I always liked the look of French inspired Zouave uniforms on Union troops during the American Civil War and French WWI troopers.

Thanks, I hope it is interesting enough without taking too long to paint.

Well, here they are. I went with a grey toxic world base for them. I have a lot of left over parts, so I'm ordering a few 3D printed bodies that look similar to them to stretch them out a bit. I think I can get maybe 9 or 10 more out of the kit?
