Before I make hotel reservations - is Thursday going to be a full day this year?

@Janth

Good call. I didn't even think about that when I made my reservation for Thursday-Saturday night...

Which I did so that I could make sure I had a room

I was going to ask that, too... although I doubt I could swing coming in sooner than Thursday, anyway.

Good catch!

Well a couple things.

1. We have secured the entire Harry Caray event space for the weekend. So we have significantly more space than previous years!

2. In conjunction with the additional space, we also have a large portion of the venue a full day earlier. We have the Grand Ballroom and the Harry Caray space starting Thursday. So I would expect a full slate of events, seminars and activities on Thursday.

We have a pretty good idea what we want to do with this extra day. But, we are still sorting out the details, taking in feedback and absorbing our thoughts on the release of 6th edition like everyone else.

So, for 2013, AdeptiCon goes to eleven, is one 1 louder, and yes one more day!

Sounds cool! Most likely, I'll try to arrive Thursday morning and catch some of the happenings in the afternoon. Will be nice to have that be an actual "day", since many guys I know on here arrived early this year.

We are officially well into planning season. Preregistration looms and it is time to begin burying you with information:

Preregistration and Hotel News
AdeptiCon returns on Thursday, April 18, 2013 for our annual celebration of the miniature wargaming hobby! Once more, the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center will host the festivities and the entire hotel will be devoted to the AdeptiCon experience! For the first time ever, AdeptiCon will feature a full slate of events on Thursday, giving you FOUR full days to experience all that AdeptiCon has to offer.

A full schedule will be posted shortly before the web cart goes live on Monday, November 12th. Last year, our most popular events sold out within days, so act quickly to reserve your spot in the events of your choice!

The Westin is Approaching Critical Mass! Based solely off our announcement this past summer, reservations at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center have already filled 75% of our block for 2013. Don’t delay – make your hotel reservations today! The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center is taking reservations at our convention rate of $121/night.

AdeptiCon Warhammer Fantasy Team Tournament
The AdeptiCon Warhammer Fantasy Team Tournament has set the standard for 2-person team play in the Fantasy realm. To give these partnerships more chances to shine, the AdeptiCon Warhammer Fantasy Team Tournament will shift to a full-day, 3-round format on Friday, April 19th! If you haven’t already, its time to start coming up with your team’s theme, because the competition will be fierce on all fronts!

Warhammer Fantasy Championships
Every year, the best Warhammer Fantasy players from across the country and the world come to AdeptiCon to test their mettle. This year, the AdeptiCon Warhammer Fantasy Championships will shift to a 2-day/5-game format with three games on Saturday, April 20th, two games on Sunday, April 21st. With the expanded format, expect the competition, generalship and artistry to reach new heights! This will definitely be the ‘can’t miss’ event for Warhammer Fantasy players in 2013!

Warhammer 40K Team Tournament
By popular demand, the AdeptiCon Warhammer 40K Team Tournament will now span two days of allied carnage! The event will now feature a full 5 rounds (3 on Saturday, April 20th and 2 on Sunday, April 21st), 128 teams and a more relaxed the schedule. The Warhammer 40K Team Tournament has continually raised the bar in terms of army design, theme, and presentation – yet this is often lost in the fast and hectic pace of the weekend. In order to make sure everyone can enjoy what the best of the hobby has to offer, the top contenders for Best Team Appearance and Best Team Theme/Presentation will be placed on display in the main Warhammer 40K hall for everyone to enjoy!

Warhammer 40K Championships
The AdeptiCon weekend kicks off with the AdeptiCon Warhammer 40K Championships Qualifier on Thursday, April 18th – a 4-round, self-contained event with a full slate of awards and prizes. The top 16 players will move on to the finals on Friday and play four additional rounds to determine the AdeptiCon Warmaster! No more 5AM games on Sunday! No longer will you have to wait until the AdeptiCon weekend is over to discover who has emerged as the winner! What if you do not qualify? Don’t panic, there will be plenty of other Friday events that you can participate in, including the Warhammer 40K Gladiator, Warhammer 40K Friendly, and many others.

Stay tuned for news and info relating to: Hobby Seminars, Warmachine/Hordes, Flames of War, King of War, Malifaux, Dust Warfare, X-Wing, Historicals and Open Gaming!

2 days of Team Tournament action; that should be pretty interesting! But I can read between the lines - it's all about the crew getting older, and needing more sleep on Saturday night.

Hard to settle on a theme, though, without knowing what 6e & Allies rules will do to the underlying format.

5AM on Sunday morning the last two years was brutal. I wish to avoid that at all costs. Draft rules should be out shortly after the cart goes live, but plan on most 6th edition rules being in there. Team Members will not be able to directly take allies, as you will act as allies with your 3 other Teammates. We will be using the Allies rules from 6th (as opposed to the Brothers in Arms rules from previous years) - Battle Brothers will stay Battle Brothers and everyone else will be considered Allies of Convenience in order to facilitate the Team environment. Most of the old rules concerning your Commander/Commander Head will now transfer to your army's Warlord. More soon.

Damn Noise Marines are going to get a buff

I have kind of mixed feelings regarding the team tournament going to two days. I love the idea of an extra game, but I also liked having separate days to do other things. Might makes things complicated for us ADHD gamers who bring multiple systems to play with. But I have to admit that this year was a very early start and by the time you are halfway through game 4 most people are either exhausted or drunk (sometimes both).

We are busy putting the final touches on the webcart for AdeptiCon 2013 and it is shaping up to be the largest and most varied offering of events to date! All your favorites have returned, many with newly revised schedules and offerings, but what would AdeptiCon be without new experiences? Joining the ranks of such classics like Warhammer, Warmachine, Flames of War, Malifaux and Lord of the Rings, we are pleased to announce several new events ready to round out your weekend: Battletech makes a triumphant return with a new slate of events, Kings of War and Dreadball make their AdeptiCon debut, Hail Caesar and Saga bolster the historical offerings, X-Wing checks in with the inaugural AdeptiCon Dogfight Tournament, Hyacinth Games will be showcasing Wreck Age in all its post-apocalyptic glory and several old classics like Inquisitor, Necromunda and Warmaster awaken once again.

It is impossible to cover everything in this update, so head on over to the AdeptiCon 2013 Webcart and see the myriad of events for yourself. The webcart is about 90% complete at this time. Please be aware that events and event times are still subject to change and that new events or seminars might be added before Monday – but this should give you a good starting point to begin planning your weekend!

Preregistration opens on Monday, November 12th at 7PM CST.

Who knows? Last year, they went in a matter of days. This year, with the event moved to Thursday, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

The Warhammer 40K Championships sold out in about 21 hours last year, but it is anyone's guess this year with it moving to Thursday. The Warhammer 40K Team Tournament sold out in 17 hours last year - I expect that one to still go pretty fast.

For your planning pleasure: AdeptiCon 2013 Event Schedule
I am still waiting on a handful of items and updates, but as of this morning it is accurate.

Registration will stay open until at least Midnight on Wednesday. We'll keep it open later if there is the demand. There will also be an early check-in area for the Warhammer 40K Championships so people can get that out of the way the night before.

Everything you need to register on Monday can be found here:

http://cart.adepticon.org

You'll need the Weekend Badge (required) and any event/seminar tickets you want to participate in.

Couple of false starts for me - I was going to quick-pay, to get off their server & on to PayPal's, but I have a volunteer voucher to redeem, so I had to actually log in to the site first. But done now.

In the time it took (20 minutes), Championships tickets went from 246 to 161; Team Tourney tickets are down to 50.

edit: 30 minutes in, 104 Champs tickets, 21 team tickets left. Wow!

He does not have enough points yet for an army in anything else. I am trying to get him to get to the Youngblood level but not holding my breath this year. Good luck everyone!

P.S. I forgot my password so had to not login when buying the tickets but went straight to paypal. Is the password reset toast? I have tried twice to reset and has been over 45 minutes from the first one.

The Championships are obviously less popular as a Thursday event - I mean, there's still 20 tickets left, and registration has been open for 99 minutes already.

I think quite a bit of it is people signing up even if they aren't sure they'll be making it just to reserve a spot. But yeah, stuff is going fast as hell.

So kinda bummed I missed out on a getting a team ticket, is there any kind of waiting list? I imagine there will be people who bought one and will end up not having a team together.

Glad I got my singles ticket though at least, those are almost gone now too.

There is a waiting list, and I HIGHLY recommend getting on it. Some friends of mine were about 20 teams down on the list (if not more) and got in last year. There is always going to be some drops and what not, and there's a fairly good chance you'll get an invite, especially if you're near the top.

For now send an email to info@adepticon.org

I think they might put a web cart thing up, but that's probably the quickest way to get on it. Also try adepticon@gmail.com

One of those emails will get read by someone who can handle a wait list addition for ya.

Thanks for bearing with us. Felt a bit like a space-age Scottish engineer on this side of things. Managed to keep the server alive - it just got hit hard. About 700 or so people smashed into the gates with their F5 key as I turned on the cart. Ouch. We pissed off Yahoo too since we send a copy of all registrations to an address there. Anyone with a yahoo.com email address should have a confirmation email by now.

Working on getting info about wait lists. For now, just send an email to info@adepticon.org with the name of the event your are looking to get into. I'll be building these tomorrow in order received.

Having twins in April is the reason I missed last year. Is the actually due date in April? Mine was in may and we had the girls at 36 weeks which is common for twins. Best of luck to him mine were also my first kids. It's awesome either way. This will be my first time getting to go.

40k Team Tournament rules:
Looks like the Command Tokens are gone from the Team event? Sorry to see that - they added a very interesting dynamic to a lot of the missions. I don't care for the "Twists of Fate" as a substitute - it's just a basic reroll mechanic, applicable to situations that may never come up or call for it (e.g., if you never fail a Reserves roll, or don't have anything in Reserves), meaning you may not have to make a meaningful choice as to whether to "keep" the point, or expend it.

I do like the compromise position on FW stuff - broader availability than in some years, but treating everything as "Unique" across the entire TEAM means no stacking of potential "problem" units.

The Theme rules are getting ever harsher on Xenos players. Look at the list of Imperial armies, any of which can fight together with no additional justification and score at least a 3. Now try to find ANY combination that allies with Tyranids that can score similarly. (Does Genestealer Cult even count anymore? It hasn't had anything like "general support" in written form since 3rd edition; Necrons + Blood Angels is far more thematic by modern sources.)

I like the themes we see at the tournament, but unlike painting, it's scoring participants for factors outside of their control, aside from selecting their armies solely for theme. You can work to improve your painting, or include a member in your team who paints better. You can work to improve your play. You can't do anything to improve GW's background to allow a team combination you'd like to play.

Warlord Traits ended up duplicating 80% of what we have traditionally done with Command Tokens. There were too many clarification issues if we kept Command Tokens. The Twist of Fate mechanic harkens back to the old TT mulligan system which seemed fitting in tandem with the return to the 2-day format. It is also entirely possible that certain missions will specify alternate uses for Twist of Fate.

The FW rules are identical to those from the 2012 event.

Simply put Theme in the TT has always been meant to reward 40K canon. It is part of the 40k universe and has been a focus of the TT for years. We've heard this complaint before and created 4 new Theme awards, 3 that specifically recognize Heretical, Xenos and Hybrid Teams.

I still think last year's use of Command tokens in Team Cleanse was the best use ever, and the best adaptation to the traditional strategy for that mission. While Warlord traits does offer the possibility of a bonus scoring unit, it's hardly certain.

Speaking for myself, the Command Counters were flat out better than the mulligans. Comes back to making a significant decision pre-battle, plus the ongoing effects on the table top. A reroll is something that simply is; you might never find yourself in one of the limited situations that allow for it, and if you do, you might never roll poorly enough to require it.

The FW rules are identical to those from the 2012 event.
I know; that wasn't directed so much at you as a general comment. This is a good way to handle FW units.

Of course you've heard it before; I bring it up every year. That said, this bracketing system looks harsher than previous scoring systems. A straight 0, in a 60 point category that counts towards your Overall standing, just for bringing Tyranids + anything? Ouch!

I do appreciate the additional detail in the Theme scoring section over previous years; last year in particular still rankles, as we made a legitimate effort towards theme, and scored much lower than if we'd just grabbed 4 of the same army...or joined the Grey Knight-fest. But surely you can see that the straight point allocations in the brackets are advantageous for Imperial armies? With no effort at all, an Imperial team can score 30 with any combination of 8 'dexes, while our afore-mentioned Tyranid + anything team has to put forth significant effort to make it to 10.

Doesn't affect my team this year; our theme has been set for a few months. But I keep gnawing at it, trying to find a method that acknowledges effort at every level, rather than just the highest-possible bracket.

Hi

Overall, I like the draft Team Tournament Rules. The only thing that strikes me as REALLY powerful is using "twists of fate" for reserve re-rolls - increasing that key unit/flyers likelihood of arriving on turn two to 89% without a points investment seems like a little bit much.

I figure that if I read a tournament mechanic and it makes me completely re-think my approach, it may be too good.

Cheers,
Nate Stevens, Captain

Nate,

You are giving up a battle point every time you choose to use a twist of fate regardless of the outcome. That could mean as many as 20 total points missing at the end of the tournament. Reviewing the tight cuts for awards, this could definitely have an impact on standings. At the end of the day it is up to the players to make informed choices about whether or not they believe the effect justifies the cost, opinions and outcomes will vary and that is exactly what we are expecting.

Jathkin,

In as brief a post as I can justify, there is no reason that fielding Tyranids and another army costs you all your theme points. Examples might include a battle for Macragge team with 2 Ultramarine players and two Tyranid players, a Anphelion Project force with Xenos inquisitor forces and Tyranids is another, and there have been several Genestealer cult armies that have scored well over the years.

The team's theme is judged before the battles begin, by judges, not your opponents. We understand that your battle combinations may not make total sense to your opponents outside the context of your display base and that's OK. We specifically adjusted allies to the least harsh interpretation to account for this.

We will be releasing a development blog article on these topics shortly so please stay tuned.

Chris

Hi Chris,

The theme rules, as written, make NO allowance for an opposition theme.

One of the most frustrating things about the theme rules is knowing what the judges are thinking in terms of what is valid background, and how much background is necessary to be well-supported at the various tiers. So again - last year, Blood Angels + Necrons, which was specifically included in 2 separate codexes, scored far poorer in theme than just reading the theme scoring rules would seem to have explained. Meanwhile, themes derived from a single battle mentioned in a single BL book score pretty well on theme.

What about Genestealer Cults? They haven't had any rules or fluff support for 3 full editions of the game (IIRC). What about fluff that been effectively ret-conned? Do Chaos sacred numbers have any meaning anymore, given that they haven't existed in the past 2 codexes (3, if you count Daemons)? What about the discord between certain chaos gods, which has similarly gone unmentioned? Would Sisters of Battle team up with Grey Knights?

I understand the intent, and I do understand the problem, but you're trying to apply easily quantifiable brackets to a huge, often contradictory, collection of fiction spanning 30 years now. And in focusing on the nebulous "what is supported by the 40k background," you're narrowing the field for really interesting themes (such as an opposition theme).

We'll have to discuss more over beer.

Hi Chris

I am not demanding a change, just tossing my two cents in on a "draft."

The twist of fate I am concerned with isn't likely to cost 20 points since you are going to may the roll 13 times out of 20 without it. The 7 points it will on average to push the rate of success to 18/20 is 7 points well spent if it is difference between victory and defeat even once (as you said, informed decision-making makes this well worth it).

Cheers,
Nate

Basic re-rolls will not be the only use for Twist of Fate. Certain missions may present alternate uses for them (like Command Tokens of old). There will we far more attractive things in play than Reserve re-rolls for some missions and the choice won't be so cut and dry. The Twist of Fate portion will be amended to be clearer in these regards.

Reading through the TT rules, I saw this:

Victory Points gained through the Legendary Fighter Warlord Trait are added to your Coalition’s total for that game as normal,
however the maximum number of Victory Points a Coalition may earn per game is 30.

But on the scoring chart, it states that the overall total points for primary objectives is 250. Divided by 5 rounds = 50. Thats not even counting the secondary objectives.

Is this a misprint or am I not understanding scoring?

Thanks,

Twitch

Hi

A question regarding pairing for the Team Touranment. When it was a four round event, it was rotate partners, then choose for the final round.

In the 5 round format, what can we expect, or is it a surprise?

Our speculation is - rotate for rounds 1-3, choose in 4 & 5 but you must have a different partner...

Our play group has discussed this as well, and thought that having the 5th round let your opponent choose your team's pairing and vice versa would be very entertaining, and add a taste of strategy.

Just something to consider, if you hadn't already thought about it.

My concern is around combat patrol. I have posted and Matt has answered from Adepticon (Thank you!).

You will notice fortifications are not allowed. My nephew is taking Tau that has no flyers (only army he really has).

At 400 points do people see the flyers getting overpowered? I know some flyers cannot be included but the Necron, Ork, and Marine can bring some just from the top of my head.

We are going to be doing some play testing first of January around how he will deal with flyers, but I showed him an example and it truly scared him on the lethality and invulnerability (do to snap fire) of the flyers at 400 points.

I'm thankful for how quick you guys reply. My main concern is that it's a lot of work to write it up clearly so that 400+ people (or 200+ since really only 1 person per pair needs to understand) can easily understand and assimilate it.

And for thel ast round it could cause some issues, round 1 might be fun. But either way I'm with Carlos that transparency and ease of understanding are key. I'm already excited for Adepticon, and it's still 5 months away!

Thanks for the UPDATES Matthias!

I’m SO looking forward to this year. I’m really happy you guys added a day. If I make it into the finals again I can actually get some sleep now. Those 5:30am starts were killing me, being a west coast gamer, and I’m sure it wasn’t fun running them that early either.
It’s going to be nice to have that extra time to hang out and visit with some of you guys I only get to see in person once a year.

My Events so far:
• Championship
• Gladiator
• Boarding Action

I have no idea at this time what Armies I will be playing. If I don’t make it into the finals I will most likely try to have my NEW Death Korps of Krieg Army ready for the Gladiator. SO MUCH TO DO! Why do I have to like horde Armies so much?

As of right now, I’m not on a Team for the Team Event. I figured I would chill and enjoy the show for a couple days and go downtown one night maybe. If anyone wants to hang out and maybe even get a casual game in during that time PM me.

ADEPTICON!!!!!!

I like that the characters are legal from the Badab series. Are they legit as counts-as like most space marine stuff or does the army have to be painted to match the character's chapter?

I'm in the same boat Mike. I can't wait! But I'll be darned if releasing the DA book in January isn't going to make me have to think super hard about what I'm bringing.....

Gosh you mean one of four people would have to take like a pair of thunderfires and a combat stick and some super 2+ cover (ty tfire) scoring snipers?! Not that I'm doing it, just that I expect to see a lot of 2++ iron arm warp speed Loths out there.

I also think there's a veritable army of people waiting for January to see what color their marine models will be.

Sorry, that's an entry mistake. The Rapier should be allowed in all 3 events.

If you spot any other fairly obvious errors like that, make sure to point them out!

Thanks.

@Hulksmash - Just as any other special character available for the Space Marine Codex in conjunction with the 2013 AdeptiCon Model Policy. So legit counts-as, but our expectation would be individuals wishing to field these models would put forth the hobby effort to make them clear to their opponent. In other words don't take a stock special character model that has existing rules and call him Malakim Phoros for example.

Thanks Yak, I kept trying to wrack my brain all day to try and figure out why the Rapier was banned but the Avenger was perfectly legal. Glad to see it was an easily correctable mistake.

Is there someplace we can see the rules for some of those FW units without having to buy their books?

I had not realized that there would be FW models in the Friendly, and am not looking forward to being surprised at game time with rules I have never seen before.

Ok so this is just a little question I've got, and I apologize if this was answered elsewhere and I didn't see it, but on the first page of the allowable forgeworld units PDF, it mentions "Chimera alternate turret weapons" (turret autocannon, etc)

Are entries like this, that affect a regular unit in our codex by giving it extra gear or weapons, limited to only one per list as well? So for example, if I took 4 chimeras, only 1 could have an autocannon turret as an upgrade?

@nolzur –
I had not realized that there would be FW models in the Friendly, and am not looking forward to being surprised at game time with rules I have never seen before.

Forgeworld models were allowed in the Friendly 2012 and for 2013 are allowed with the standard AdeptiCon restriction. (due to the scarce nature of these units, each unit is considered unique (0-1) and may only be taken once)

For an overall summary a good place to start would be here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/v/vehicle6thupdates.pdf

Imperial Armor Aeronautica and Imperial Armor 1: 2nd Edition are the latest books and cover off on the vast majority of units. So if you can source someone that has the books those are the most current.

If you have specific unit question an internet search will typically pull up enough information to be “informed” on a particular unit just make sure the information is current. Additionally, players are responsible to have a copy of the rules for the units they are using, these should be made available to you.

All that said, I think I best be clear on the spirit of the Friendly. This is not a standard format tournament and the primary focus is not about individual performance or win / loss records. This is first and foremost about the “event”, “participation” and enjoyment of your opponent and all involved. Army lists should be built with the primary objective of being fun and an enjoyable. As such it is an opportunity to field units and lists that normally would not be considered optimized as whether you win or lose does not matter.

The nature of the event is also full of surprises. From bidding wars for deathstrike missile strikes and off board artillery bombardments, to HQ and unit bounties, valiant last stands, suicide missions plus whatever else our warped and twisted minds can fathom. Whether you know the rules on a particular Forgeworld unit or not will likely be your least concerns. : )

If you or anyone else has questions about the event please contact me as it is important for all players to understand the spirit and intent of this event as it directly effects the enjoyment for all players.

@MrMoustaffa -

Good question - As it currently is constructed you are correct. I have put this out for discussion as I am not sure that was the intention or if we want to draw a distinction in those cases. On the next update we will add a clarification one way or the other.

Thanks - Hank

Muwhe, last year I REALLY appreciated our opponents having a printed out sheet of the rules they could hand us for their FW unit, in both team tourney games that I faced one.

Makes it way easier for them to show the rules to an unfamiliar opponent than having to pull out the huge hardback.

So, I VERY much hope you keep the requirement (I believe it was such) to have a sheet with the rules printed out to share with their opponent. It was great

Only downside was I would've liked to keep the sheet for reference during the game. The first guys needed it back, so I couldn't consult it. They were great chaps though

Sorry if I may interfere, but since our meta uses similar combat patrol rules...how do you handle Necron HQs? Are there any modifications (e.g. -1W for any Overlord) or are you simply not allowed to take any HQ as a Necron player?

Thanks in advance!

/e: On another issue: are you not allowed to take Annihilation Barges due to QS increasing their AV to 13 or does QS simply increase their AV to 12 instead of 13? Currently, I assume the latter...

We played it that way in the last combat patrol tournament and it did not seem to fair as most people do not expect a lot of vehicles, mainly transporters. At a huge tournament like Adepticon, though, people might be more experienced and know what they'll likely face.

AV 12 in a 400 point game with the killing power of Annihilation Barges is pretty terrifying. Less than half the cost of your army, and can handily destroy most things you would see in any other CP list.

Definitely going to need some plasma/melta to take care of threats like that. Well, maybe some missile spam.

This is my understanding on how we handle these at the Combat Patrol events at AdeptiCon.

HQ units are not required for combat patrol so there is no exception here. Chaos was in a similar position in previous years.

As for the barge, any vehicle upgrade that increases the av value may do so to a max of 12 (it's the second to the last bullet point under army construction rules which can be found here: http://www.adepticon.org/13rules/2013cp.pdf )

Hope that helps ..

Do you know the answer to my question above, muwhe (will you still be requiring folks to have a printed out sheet of their FW units' rules to hand to their opponent)?

Post by: muwhe

@Rtides - Sorry didn't see a question in your post above ... thought it was just commentary. : )

We require players that plan to bring Imperial Armor models to do the following:

1. They have to bring a copy of the most current rules.

2. They have to make those available to their opponents for reference.

We do not mandate how players must bring a "copy" of the rules. Just that they bring them and make them available to their opponents for reference.

Okay, thanks. And yeah, I guess there wasn't actually a "question" in my question sorry about that.

Also, I'm pretty bummed that I did not register for AdeptiCon this year because a group of friends planned to run the Tough Mudder the same weekend... then changed their minds! Hoping to come out again for the team tournament in the following year, though... that was by far my best warhammer tourney experience to date.

The third annual AdeptiCon Army Charity Raffle will support the Wounded Warrior Project. 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to help honor and empower these brave veterans and service members.

This beautiful World Eaters army was masterfully painted by Brandon Palmer of GMM Studios. The models were generously provided by Chaosmailorder.com, with Dragon Forge Design kindly donating all the bases and AdeptiCon adding the essential Forge World coolness - including Angron, a Chaos Decimator, Khorne Berzerker and Terminator conversion kits, a Contemptor Dreadnought and more! And that is not all - the winner and a runner-up will also receive complete Badger Airbrush setups!

You can purchase raffle tickets in advance (available for pickup along with your Weekend Badge starting Wednesday, April 17th at 7:00 pm) or onsite at the AdeptiCon registration desk for $1.00 each. You will receive a number of bonus tickets based on the total number of tickets you purchase. This year’s prize? 2000 points of World Eaters! You can find out more information about this charity raffle in the AdeptiCon 2013 Webcart

The drawing will be held at 4:30 PM on Sunday, April 21st, 2013 in the Westin Grand Ballroom just prior to the start of the Sunday Warhammer 40K Team Tournament awards. Your ticket must be present to win (although you do not).

Beast-Captain Torgo: AdeptiCon 2013 Sci-fi Model

Torgo is one of a line of genetic experiments known as Broolians, the product of an insane experiment by the mad geneticists of the planet Broolia. The so-called Broolian Beastmen first saw service as mercenaries in the service of several stellar empires and have now fought in countless warzones across the Orion-Cygnus Spur.

Beast-Captain Torgo insists on taking the same risks as his beast-brothers, and so is ever to be found at the forefront of the battle. He wields the same flame thrower he as carried since his earliest days of service, unwilling to take up a weapon others might think more suitable to the commander a successful and feared mercenary force. In battle, Torgo is as ferocious and savage as all his kin, eschewing subtlety as soon as the bullets start flying and the charge is called. Few can stand up to such a charge, for the Broolians of Beast-Captain Torgo fight not for wealth, but for the sheer, savage joy that was seeded in their bestial hearts by the insane geneticists of the planet Broolia.

Direct from Victoria Miniatures, Beast-Captain Torgo will be found lurking the swag bags of the first 2000 preregistered attendees with an AdeptiCon 2013 Weekend Badge! Bring a leash!

Here are the Warhammer 40K Championships Primer Missions. The first page details the typical Order of Battle that most W40K6e games follow - however, play particular attention to the terrain rules as they are unique to AdeptiCon and our terrain sets.

This Order sheet will be included in all major Warhammer 40K events, with only slight modifications (e.g., references to Coalition instead of player in the Team Tournament packet, no references for Fortifications in the Combat Patrol packet...).

Warhammer 40K Team Tournament Primers will be released shortly.

Well in my opinion, as popular as LOTR can be considering it is treated as the red-headed step child of GW core games. (And I'm talking about GW's treatment itself)

The event draws a good crowd of local players (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan) with the occasional player from further afield. But the event is nowhere as big as 40k or Fantasy, which IMHO, isn't a bad thing really. We have 12 teams for our Friday event and 16 players for each of the other events (Thursday night and Saturday day). If you are looking for a break from the other systems and something a bit quiter and low key than LOTR events at Adepticon are perfect. They are usually about an 8 hour event so it leaves you time for evening activities (except the Thursday night event which is about 5 hours) and are one day so you can easily fit them in around other events. We have often had players who play the 40k team on Saturday (in the past) and would do LotR the other day as a change of pace. Plus, the group we usually attract are fantastic players and people always have a fun time at the event.

If I can answer any questions for you or anyone else interested in trying out LOTR/The Hobbit at Adepticon (or just trying it in your local club) please send me a PM.

Warhammer 40K Team Tournament Primer Missions

Here are the Warhammer 40K Team Tournament Primer Missions. The first page details the typical Order of Battle that most W40K6e games follow - however, play particular attention to the terrain rules as they are unique to AdeptiCon and our terrain sets.

Remember: Each Coalition will receive two Twists of Fate per game. This ability may be used to re-roll any of the following rolls regardless of the original result: Warlord Traits, Mysterious Terrain, Mysterious Objectives, Outflank or Reserves. Standard re-roll rules apply (pg. 5) – second result counts and no single dice can be re-rolled more than once. Each unused Twist of Fate scores your Coalition 1 point. Certain missions may present alternative uses for Twists of Fate in the Mission Special Rules section.

Sweet. Sitting at #1 on the wait list for the TT so I'm pretty pumped to start trying out these missions.

Any idea when the initial FAQ draft will be out?

Possibly tomorrow. Otherwise by Monday for sure.

I currently have a Team wavering, so there might be an opening soon.

Ok, I admit to confusion. It's regarding the Gladiator and allies/force org stuff.

Here are the two parts of the rules packet I'm confused about:

"Armies will consist of a base list of 2500 points or less using a standard Force Organization Chart with an optional secondary Force Organization Chart and additional Primary Detachment rules (Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, pg. 109).
o 1 Fortification per standard Force Organization Chart
o 1 Allied Detachment per standard Force Organization Chart (See Super Heavy or Gargantuan Creature Rules Below)

and

Only one Super Heavy or Gargantuan Creature may be taken per army. That unit MUST be of the same codex as the Primary Detachment and is allocated as the entire second optional standard Force Organizational Chart."

Now does that mean if I took say CSM and a Warhound Titan. Would I still be able to take two allied detachments or just one?

Warhammer Fantasy FAQ and Clarifications

The Daemons of Chaos have been unleashed and in their wake trails a number of lingering questions. The following mini-FAQ will be in effect for all Warhammer Fantasy Battles events at AdeptiCon 2013.

Warriors of Chaos: Demon Princes are considered Demons for the Lore of Light Attribute.

Demons of Chaos: Reign of Chaos applies only when rolled during the Demon player Magic Phase.

Demons of Chaos: Reign of Chaos rolls 5, 6, 8, & 9 - roll for each enemy unit (regardless) and only for friendly units with the named Mark.

Demons of Chaos: Kairos Fateweaver must have his 8 chosen spells declared at the beginning of the tournament and must use those spells in each game. These spells must be listed on the army roster.

All summoned models (VC Undead, Demon Princes, Spawn, & Demons) must be painted according to the AdeptiCon Model Policy in order to be used at AdeptiCon.

Well, not every question gets included in the FAQ simply because this FAQ is looking to be much more stringent than the INAT was in order to try to keep it as small as possible.

However, if you can remind me what the question is/was, I can give you further details as to why it wasn't included (either intentionally or unintentionally).

Wait, Yakface, did you help write the adepticon FAQ?

I helped participate, yes, although my role is smaller then it was doing the INAT (which was the reason that I needed to stop doing the INAT because my role in it was way too large and time consuming).

I didn't write the document (Matt Baugh did), I just helped by editing it and participating in the conference calls regarding the rulings. I also helped by collecting questions for the Daemons codex in the YMDC forum here on Dakka.

Oh, and I did write the Imperial Armor/Apoc section actually mainly because I'm somebody that has all those books and therefore is able to go through them all looking for the issues (because frankly we don't get enough questions submitted any other way for IA stuff to make any kind of realistic FAQ).

Wow, Fiends got amazing.

When a unit makes a shooting attack at a vehicle that is completely out of the firing unit’s LoS cannot be affected by that shooting attack (unless the attack does not require LoS, of course).

What is this meant to say?

That clarification is missing the word 'it', so it should be:

When a unit makes a shooting attack at a vehicle that is completely out of the firing unit’s LoS it cannot be affected by that shooting attack (unless the attack does not require LoS, of course).

So basically vehicles that are completely out of line of sight of the firing unit cannot be damaged by their shooting, unless a particular shooting attack doesn't require LOS (like a barrage weapon).

How does it make a shooting attack at a vehicle which is out of LOS, without a weapon which doesn't require LOS? Is this talking about (e.g.) placing a direct fire blast weapon so that the center is over a model in a unit you can see, but part of the blast covers a vehicle which is completely out of LOS?

Yep, this clarification covers this situation, but it also covers vehicle squadrons (those vehicles in the unit which are out of LOS cannot be affected) and also strange situations like the Necron Death Ray, etc.

Basically the rules for shooting against a non-vehicle unit has kind of a 2 part restriction on LOS...you have to have overall LOS to the unit AND ALSO those models in the target unit that are completely out of LOS can't be casualties.

The vehicle rules are much, much more vague and the rules for vehicle squadrons even more so. However, the general voting consensus was that this was not some sort of secret easter egg that vehicles are supposed to be able to be hit when out of LOS more than non-vehicle units, so we just sort of clarified across the board that vehicles are treated essentially like models in non-vehicle units in that, if they are completely out of LOS from a firing unit then they aren't getting damaged by that shooting (unless the attacks ignore LOS, of course).

You guys ruled that fiends assaulting a unit that has a Initiative of 5 or less doesn't get to attack because they lower the initiative to zero?

spaguatyrine wrote:

That is a really tough one. I think everybody hopes that GW comes out and issues an errata to clarify what Initiative 0 means in close combat before Adepticon because nobody was happy with the ruling, but every other alternative seems like kind of a big stretch.

The rules clearly allow characteristics to be lowered to 0, but then the CC section only specifies that there are I10-I1 steps. While the rulebook never says what happens with I0 in CC, based on what they do specify for WS0, for example, it seems to fall in line with that concept.

The other issue is that SOME abilities in the CD codex have a minimum included on them, but there are several different Initiative modifier abilities that don't say any such thing...so do we assume that GW made a mistake in ALL cases and that Initiative modifiers never can take a Initiative to below 0, despite the fact that most other characteristics can? Or do we step out on a limb and make up a rule allow for an Initiative 0 CC step, despite the fact that GW's basic tenant is that when a characteristic is reduced to 0 it means the model cannot do whatever it is the characteristic is supposed to do (in this case attack in combat)?

So yeah, we ruled that if a model gets its Initiative reduced to 0, it means they don't get to attack because they are I0 and there is no I0 step in CC.

But like I said, its a ruling nobody is really happy with and hopefully GW will issue some FAQs for April soon and shed some light on exactly what the hell they were hoping to go for with some of these rules.

However, yes, for the time being, Fiends are absolutely lethal.

Okay, I've got one...

How is it that a Bloodslaughter of Khorne and a Brass Scorpion of Khorne and a Plaguehulk of Nurgle are not considered Daemons of the relevant gods and are simply daemons? With the new Daemon codex, you can't even have unaligned daemon princes or soulgrinders anymore, yet these obviously aligned units are left hanging?

I wasn't involved in the FAQ process at all. IMHO, however, giving them "Daemon of X" is giving them extra rules that weren't paid for. The Daemons codex bundles a number of USRs into each "Daemon of X" rule, so, for example, giving "Daemon of Nurgle" to a Plaguehulk gives it Shrouding at no additional cost.

The FAQ looks to be trying to stick to RAW where it's possible, even where it is unlikely that GW will do so in any eventual FAQ (see, e.g., Fiends). Adding the "Daemons of X" rules to FW units would seem to deviate from that philosophy.

The goal here was ultimately to try to get things in a playable state for this year's Adepticon based on the rules that exist currently. Obviously FW will be updating these rules at some point to bring everything into line with the new Chaos Daemons and CSM books, but honestly we can't go completely overboard and just re-write the rules for these units because it would be kind of a pain for players to have to play half from the printed rules and half from a bunch of errata changes from the Adepticon FAQ.

Admittedly there are still a few places where that ended up being the case, but those were the units whose rules were really, really wonky.

So the dividing line really was if a unit was only available to be taken in a Daemon army, then obviously this is a Daemon unit and had to be made to roughly match how the Daemon army book works. That's why the Daemon Lords and the two Daemon Prince special characters (Uraka and Mamon) got the rules for being 'Daemons of X'...because they are undoubtably from the Daemon army and therefore need to be able to interact as such.

With the Plague Drones, Plague Hulk and Bloodslaughterers, these are all units that can be either taken in Daemon armies OR CSM armies. So there is always the question of which one of these books are they ultimately from. In the CSM book there are clearly Daemon Engines that aren't 'Daemons of X' in the form of the Defiler, Maulerfiend and Forgefiend.

So the decision was made to just go with the minimum amount of changes to make those units just work...and for the most part they do just work as written, and just incorporating the new generic 'Daemon' rule along with the standard Daemonic invulnerability to being shaken/stunned where needed.

The funny thing is, I was actually able to get a bit of a heads-up about where FW is likely to be heading with the rules for these units when they update them, and they likely will be 'Daemons of X', but they are also likely to get quite a few changes on top of that as well. So again, if we were going to go down that route of trying to change them to what FW is 'going to do' then we're talking about making major changes to the printed rules without any official basis for doing so.

So although it is not the optimal solution, when it comes to FW and the wacky way they have to update stuff after a codex hits, there are sometimes just going to be these strange little periods which just happens to fall this year during Adepticon.

Silly question, but will the FW event model be available at Adepticon. The email was not particularly clear weather the model was only at the FW day or all events with FW present.

They were at Adepticon in previous years, but you might want to e-mail Forgeworld to check for sure.

Just got the latest update email, and watched the Greg/Brad video discussing deployment and pregame setup. Awesome to be able to get table assignments via text message. Bravo!

The video was a nice intro to the pre-game sequence and alternating deployment of terrain. It should be especially helpful to folks who haven't been practicing the new Adepticon style of terrain setup. However, though i have practiced it a bit, the video did prompt a couple of questions for me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahVMcXMeGTs

1. They stated that Fortifications are allowed to be placed anywhere on your half. As opposed to the primer packet, which required them to be at least 5" from the table edges and from any other Fortification.
2. They stated that terrain pieces just need to be 4" from any table edge, Fortification, or piece of terrain, as opposed to 5".

Are those the final instructions for the Championships, Gladiator, and/or 40k Team Tournament?

Tangential note: Did I misunderstand, or Brad brain cramp, generating one rulebook power for his Space Marine Librarian and thinking he was allowed to keep his second Codex power? Or did he actually have two psykers, the first of which just had one power?

Very nice innovation with text alerts for table assignments.

How is the wifi and cell reception at the hotel?

Cell reception was actually pretty good last year, no issues I noticed.

Signed up for the alerts as I hate the crunch at the sheets.

Email/text notifications for table assignments?

Finally, the future is here!

Its both about time and a wonderful thing to see (as I know its an additional technical hurdle to get over and more work to organize as well).

However, I have no doubt it will greatly improve things overall.

Wow. I almost don't need to go now - I've gotten my quota of Brad/Sparky banter for the year.

It is FANTASTIC to have email or text message options for table assignments.

Take a look at any of the rules documents or Primer packets again (make sure to refresh in case you have a cached copy). The Orders Sheet has been updated. After several terrain placement tests, we decided to reduce the distance between terrain elements to 4" in order to give people a little more wiggle room. Along the same lines, and to bring things in line with the rulebook, we also removed the restriction on fortifications and the board edge.

I'll send out an addendum to yesterday's e-mail just so everyone is aware.

Hmmm it will be interesting to see how the terrain placement goes. I can see some people taking forever setting it up actually. I can also see that if player one in the video had forced each piece to max forward position then there would have been know way to place the final pice while adhereing to the 4 inch rule where his aegis was unless they "settle" where it can be placed. I am sure in most cases it will be a none issue but I will be interested in hearing the few cases where a beardy guy with a shooty army makes him place the final piece behind that aegis causing severe congestion lol

Warhammer 40K FAQ and Orders Sheet Update

With AdeptiCon less than a week away, and no Games Workshop Codex: Chaos Deamons FAQ in sight, we want to get a few more questions answered and clarifications posted. Version 1.2 of the AdeptiCon 2013 40K Rules Addendum and FAQ has been posted. New rulings since the last version appear in red. This is the final update to the FAQ prior to the convention.

After several rounds of terrain setup and playtesting, the Pre-deployment Orders Sheets for the various Warhammer 40K events have been amended to bring them further in line with W40K6e and to give players a little more wiggle room when setting up tables. The Pre-deployment Orders Sheet will be included in every event packet. the changes are as follows:

Fortifications: Starting with the player who chose table halves, players alternate placing any fortifications wholly within the owning player's table half and not within 4" of another fortification. (There was previously a required 5" distance from the board edge for fortifications)

No terrain piece can be placed within 4" of another terrain piece, fortification or the board edge. (This was previously 5")

And finally, the Second Founding Podcast rounded up Greg Sparks and Brad Chester to go over the basic pre-deployment orders as they will be played at AdeptiCon 2013. You can watch a video of the step-by-step process over on YouTube.

Adepticon giveth, Adepticon taketh away?

A Fiend of Slaanesh’s Soporific Musk cannot reduce a model’s Initiative Characteristic below Initiative 1. [pg. 57, C:CD]
There's a reversal. Pity if anyone had changed their armies as a result of the previous ruling, but it was awfully generous before.

This one, though....
While making Pile In moves, if both players’ moves in a particular Initiative step are insufficient to bring any combatants back together, but Pile In moves in subsequent Initiative steps that turn would be sufficient to do so, the assault continues normally. [pg. 23, W40KRB]
I'm curious what motivated that. We don't need to dig into the rules discussion here (there's an existing thread for that), but the poll that spawned that particular discussion thread shows, if not consensus, at least a very definite trend towards the opposite viewpoint.

Well, it was a contentious issue from the get-go. The straw that broke the camels back though was the realization that Blessings and Maledictions have a cap on lowering stats to 1. Given that the Aquiesence power does essentially the exact same thing as Soporific Musk, the idea of having two rules doing totally different things based on what easily could be a simple omission didn't sit right with a lot of those voting. There were still standing firm to the end that Soporific Musk should be able to lower Initiative to 0 and this means the model doesn't get to attack in combat (if it is attacking at its Initiative value), but it was now ultimately less votes than the reversal position.

This one, though....

I obviously made sure the poll results were well known. However, in this particular case I don't think there was any dissenting votes. As I've agrued in the rules thread, I firmly stand by the fact that the rules in this particular case can be interpreted either way. In addition, nobody seemed to think that including a single higher Initiative model in a combat should suddenly cause a bunch of warriors staring each other in the face not to fight each other, when if that model wasn't there they would fight.

AdeptiCon 2013 News and Notifications (and Reflections) @ 2013/04/14 13:07:14

Given that Init doesn't (in general) have a cap preventing it from going to zero, the other possible ruling on Fiends would have been that they can lower the enemy Init to zero, but the models then fight on Init 0, after 1. The assault rules do describe the attack sequence as running from 10 to 1, but that could be taken as a general case, and things that reduce to I0 an unusual exception. That would have allowed Fiends to act more like Assault Grenades rather than leaving Skull Cannons the only such ability in the codex.

Still, as long as we have a ruling I'm happy. I think this ruling is probably more likely to be GW's intent than was the "can't attack at all" ruling.

AdeptiCon 2013 News and Notifications (and Reflections) @ 2013/04/14 14:14:28

Post by: Hulksmash

Fiends should still be able to hit before units in cover. And the way it's set they won't be able to now. And with less than a week till the event making this change is a little messed up in my opinion. I'm not playing daemons but if I was I'd be less than happy at the 100% flip. Somewhere in the middle (i.e. still allowing people to fight at Initiative 0) would have been far more acceptable given the shortened time frame of the ruling.

The other one is how everyone around here played it anyway so I'm not seeing an issue with that one. Hadn't heard it another way but now that I have I can see how that makes sense.

In the case of the Fiends of Slaanesh soporific musk ability the FAQ ruling was one that the group wasn't totally comfortable with but lacking a clear path from Games Workshop or relevant related rule it was decided to take the presented wording at face value. Since that decision was made two significant factors influenced our opinion to revise the ruling:

1.) Weapons with the unwieldy rule changed the modified initiative from 0 to 1, in our minds gaining a significant bonus from what is intended to be a negative effect was evidence that something was not quite right with the original interpretation.

2.) Secondly, and more importantly maledictions state that they can never modify a stat below one or above ten. Given that Acquiescence is an identical effect from a different source that would have to follow the rules stated for maledictions the position for soporific musk became untenable.

Ultimately that left us with two choices so close to the event, leave a ruling that given the new knowledge was clearly wrong or publish a correction. In this case we choose to publish a correction. We recognize that our first interpretation was off the mark and felt more comfortable addressing it prior to the convention. We understand this may cause some frustration for those players who were heavily invested in this particular ruling. Short of offering it as an excuse, the relative rapid fire release of codices and the first year of a new edition has proven challenging.

Anyone flying into Midway tomorrow afternoon who's interested in sharing a shuttle, shoot me a PM with your cell #. I'll be checking my messages again in the morning. Me and a friend are flying Southwest landing ~2pm, and will be grabbing a shuttle around 2:30 or so. It's substantially cheaper than a taxi, and the more people we have, the cheaper it gets (usually around $20 or so per person depending on how many people, including tip & tolls).

See everyone there!

Hey, I am flying in tomorrow from Seattle. Hope to meet tons of people from Dakkadakka. This will be my first (and probably only) year going, so I want to see everyone. I am landing at like 1.AM, so I doubt I will see anyone that night (high school comes first). Hopefully the line won't be too long on Thursday.

Is there an Adepticon meet-up thread posted here or do we have to hunt each other the old fashioned way?

Concerning the revised fiends ruling. Were you aware of the following errata when you made your decision?

"Page 22 - Fight sub-phase, initiative steps. Change the bolded text to read 'Work your way through the Initiative values of the models in the combat, starting with the highest and ending with the lowest.'"

Given that this specifically replaces the segment of the rules mentioning I10-I1 (unless I'm missing something), it seems to me that the obvious rules interpretation would be that the Fiends are able to reduce a model's initiative to 0 (as the rules say that initiative can be reduced to 0, and only maledictions, which the Fiends' special rule is not, have a stated cap of 1). The unit going at 0 initiative would then go after anything charging through cover, but they would still be allowed to attack. The I1 buff from unwieldy is certainly odd, but a relatively obscure rules confluence, and it's more likely to be deserving of an FAQ than the Fiends' ability. It seems to me that the RAW is clear for the way that Fiends work, given the rulebook FAQ, and it is not the decision that the Adepticon team settled on. Given the short timing of your switch, especially, I anticipate quite a few very sad Daemons players in the next couple of days.

Judging by all the issues with flights I would not be surprised to see a few slots open. Last year I showed up from kansas city with no spot. I was like number 10 or so on the wait list and made it into the event. Just make sure you check in with them and let them know your on the wait list. Last year they tried to get accountability of everyone in the morning and gave last calls if those people didnt report they had wait list people standing by to fill in. Hope that helps and wish you the best on making it in.

Had I gone I was going to be a wait list participant again this year and was 17th on the list. I am confident I would of made it into the event again had I been able to go.

Looks like it has always had open spots in years past.. And I'm on the wait list at least.

No badge, no event ticket, but I'm 5 min away, army in tow, lists printed, ready and willing.

Thanks in advance.

Haha thanks! Your report from last year inspired me to take the gamble.. Didn't think I'd get work off, but I did! I think I am actually dead last on the wait list.. Shrugs. Just get there early, I suppose?

I just read a Chicago Tribune article that states that the Villiage President of Lombard was going to declare the town a disaster area due to flooding & that many of the main streets are closed.

Lombard Acting Village President Bill Ware declared the town a disaster area and advised residents not to travel because of the number of cars stalled in flooded streets.

Stretches of Roosevelt Road were flooded. Cars were stranded on exit ramps from York Road to Roosevelt Road and on Finley, Highland and Meyers roads.

And from the Village of Lombard's web site:
Posted on: April 18, 2013
Village of Lombard Declared State of Emergency Due To Flooding-UPDATE at 11 a.m.
At 4:58 a.m. this morning, Lombard’s Acting Village President Bill Ware declared the Village of Lombard in a state of emergency due to flooding and high water. The Village’s Emergency Command Center has been activated.

Regular storm updates will be provided at the Village’s website, www.villageoflombard.org
The Village Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for this evening at 7:30 p.m. has been canceled. Elected officials and staff want to focus on the flooding related issues and provide service to the residents and businesses that have been impacted by the storms.
The Village of Lombard has received approximately six inches of rain during the last 24 hours, which has led to flooded roads, ponds overtopping their banks and hazardous conditions. The weather forecast anticipates up to an additional two inches of rain throughout the day.
Village crews are working to minimize the impact of the storm on private and public properties. The Village is currently focusing its resources on emergency response. All storm sewer and pump stations have continued to operate at capacity. “The Village has received hundreds of calls from residents. We are focusing on Life Safety issues and we remind residents to call 9-1-1 for a life threatening emergency,” said Dave Gorman, Assistant Director of Public Works. The Village strongly encourages residents to avoid traveling, as many vehicles have been stuck in the high water.

Do we have any information as to if or how this will affect getting to the Adepticon site? There's no mention of anything on the Adepticon web site. Would be very helpful for those of us driving in from out of town to know where the clear routes in were. With more rain expected, we could all be in for a very "interesting" weekend.

Update:
I talked to the hotel. Things are still good there but Roosevelt Road is closed so if you're coming from the north like we are, you might want to go just south to Route 88 & then take Highland Ave. north. Yorktown Center will be on your right after that.

That is a bold statement cotton we will see if it bares fruit. Orks havent been hit too hard in 6th edition because adding ap to weapons didnt really matter when they only had a 6+ save to begin with. Either way I would be surprised to see one end up in the top 10.

As a Primary. Orks as secondary could make it up there depending who they are aligned with.

That's info on last years feed. Independent Characters are not attending or broadcasting this year as one of them is in England this weekend. No one else stepped up to do a live stream of the championships this year (that I know of or can see) since its quite an undertaking (couple thou in gear and shipping costs if I heard rightly).

Might be some other podcasts doing general coverage (there were several last year) but nothing rocking like what the ICs did the last two years.

Currently they have the main hall and the Privater Press hall up. They should have the 40k Championship Finals tomorrow. I'm not sure if they are doing a top table type broadcast like Independent Characters did or not though.

The weather.

Adepticon is normally good about time, but the weather delayed a lot of people. The waited a while to start and then they had some no-shows and had to work the wait list.

Even though the airport is open they are way behind and still had delays this morning.

Edit:just wish there was a 40k champs finals camera. The main hall camera is both Unsatisfying and useless haha.
