I just finished getting the very last of my models that I'm taking to Adepticon up to at least a minimum standard, so I'm ready for that. Working on the display board now, but I'll leave most of that till tomorrow as it's almost midnight locally and I need sleep.
Blackie wrote: I'm assembling 9 scratch built killa kanz. I hope I manage to finish the bodies at least.
Nice, old-school orkiness. What materials you using?
I just had the brainwave of a unit of soft drink themed Killa Kans. Or maybe Killa Kans with the 'Del Monte' logo on them.
Kind of wish I collected Orks now.
Working on my Primaris Crimson Fists company. Another Intercessor Sgt and the company Captain finished, a bunch of other marines undercoated. Time to start base layering them.
Today I charged an Imperial Knight with a T'au Coldstar commander with Fusion Blades At least he lopped off 5 wounds of Knight with a lightsa... err, fusion blade slash and survived the Knights' counterattack after which it got rather ungloriously smited to oblivion by a Librarian
Finishing touches and basing of one milita battalion for AWI Black Powder. Guns and equipment need painting on another. I also need to prep and build a six pounder cannon crew to keep the "production pipeline" open.
One more militia battalion to base coat - probably a state uniform style for that one - and I'll be finished the militia part of my AWI project.
I just picked my copy of new Tau codex, and played against Grey knights with my Astra militarum. The game ended to my opponent winning with wipe out. Well, now is good to relax and read the new codex.
Completing the last bit of Alchomite Stack and weathering... waiting for the wash to dry before using my rust pigment to finish the look.
While it looks heavy when I put the matte finish on the blue piece the rust pigment will tone way down.
Just playing with various weathering techniques and ideas. Wet, leaky, oceanic, paint blotch for weathering, and sponge chipping.
Hopefully finishing off my tactical marine squad. I have the face of the sergeant, the plasma effects and the basing left. Realistically I might not fully finish the basing, but the guys should be done at least.
That would leave 3 bikes, a master, a libby and 5 deathwing knights on my to do list.
finished assembling a kit bash Big Men with KFF (basically a nob on a larger base, bits from a predator, deff dread and bird feeder attached, pics when he is painted). stuck another box of orks together as three rokkits to go with the other two as a small unit of tank busta, rest as plain old orks, another box will follow shortly all as plain orks.
Should bring me to two units of 30 and a unit of 15 or so plus a side order of rokkits and some big shoota to swap in/out to taste
Finishing my Priaris and then I'm going to have to decide which is better to have on monday - an assembled Dark Talon or an painted and assembled Cypher/Eisnhorn.
Probably the solos - I still can't decide on a paint scheme for the talons.
Putting together some Empire miniatures. I got a resin Empire warrior priest and I have to say I'm impressed. I heard horror stories about GW resin and this guy is actually an almost clean cast. Just some standard moldline removal and flash/gate clean up and he'll ready to paint.
Played 2 missions of Betrayal @ Calth, introducing one of my gaming buddies to the game. We then queued up a table and played a Necromunda match. He had horrid dice rolls for Necromunda but ate my breakfast twice for the B@C games.
I then, stupidly, bought a new Orlock gang as I was leaving to support the awesome game store. They're a cool store but I need another gang like a hole in the head.
Hoping to finally be able to get my second Talos to the painting stage (the metal kit). It's been a real pain to build, though I also brought some of it on myself by making a couple of conversions. For example, I ground away all the skulls and trophies from the nose, and replaced the head of the flayed victim on the back.
Also repainted some Plague Monks from my big bin of Skaven, which I got free from a friend, in horrendous caked-on paint schemes.
So as we are nearing the birth of our firstborn I have emptied our spare bedroom and set up a new workspace in a empty storage closet. Now I just need to get a lock for the door so I don´t have to worry about the little one getting her hands on any chemicals. I must admit it´s a tight fit but better than nothing.
While at my dads, collecting some long lost minis I had actually forgotten what I had left with him,
As well as the AoBR box, the unmade mk3 land raider, and a 2008 ork battleforce most of the boyz have been assembled but still have a sprue of boyz, the bikes and trukk have been assembled and unpainted and the black reach Orks are all unpainted
Also found is a 5th ed space marine codex, so I’ll be able to retire the 2nd ed one even though it’s the better codex
And found a tube of citadel poly cement, a real blast from the past and is still squishy
Spent a good chunk of my afternoon yesterday putting together the remainder of my copy of Forgebane. Hoping to today get at least one of the Armigers all painted up, sans yellow stripes House Raven loves to use.
Easter project. Bunch of boys fos goffs, evil sunz, deffskulls and nob for bad moons. Also warboss for goffs, bik mek with kustom force field, another converted and converted warphead. Oh and painboy. Plus assembled dakkajet.
Base layer mostly done. Then highlights and smaller details
My local FLGS had a painting day. Painting miniatures is one of the two things my boy and I have naturally in common and it was a fun chance to get out and paint.
I picked up a Star Wars legion ladnspeeder for him. It was a little over $20, comes 90% assembled and is mostly one solid block of resin, making it a parent's dream for small children. I don't play legion, but I think that this might be the go-to for special occasions like this (normally he just paints a $3 bones figure)
I got Cypher mostly done. I panicked when I realized I had failed to airbrush a foot, but threw some Gnarls green on and the effect is growing on me.
I only got barely started on Eisenhorn, but was able to postertac him together for a game tonight. Tommorow will be finishing him and starting on my first Dark Talon, while also simple greening my second hand nephilim. I have some Black 2.0 on the way for that fighter.
Simple Greening a Nephilim fighter. The plan is remove the Black Matte Paint and apply a Nice Black 2.0 to it. I'm hoping the effect is as freaky as advertisted.
Enter day two of simple green soak - Can finally see the clear plastic of the cockpit (had been covered in primer). Now I have to fix the backwards facing missile pods on its sibling...
Finish assembling those bleeping wulvens. Then i can start the 3havocs squad for my alpha legion.
I'll also start the cleaning process for the porphyrion knight so i can assemble it this weekend.
At this point i'll have assembled/updated 9 armies (2k each)in 2months...
Last night primed 13 boyz and 15 scions who also got 3 stage metal for armour plates with zenith highlight attempt ready for transparent green airbrushed. Also highlighted skin for about 30 orks with 15 or so left. Found also missing IG troopers and box of orks I could have swore I had but hadn't seen for a while(yey!).
Today plan is to do that green coat for scion armour plates, finish highlighting and base coat skin of whole bunch of orks(thank you airbrush). Oh and maybe sort out exactly what that box of orks had. Nob bikes and burna boyz plus unpainted boyz but how many is the ?. Did think I was oddly low with boyz.
Pulled the Nephilim fighter from the simple green after a 2 day soak and it wasn't enough for the canopy glass *sigh*. Unfortunately I was an idiot and dumped the simple green after seeing the effect on the model's paint.
Going to proceed anyway. I'll put the glass aside until I get more 'green and start with painting the rest of the fighter with Black 2.0. I'm hoping it'll cure by my game monday.
I'm planning to finish up Barca for my Gangs of Rome, er... gang, which'll give me 6 fighters and a dominus. Then I'll try to bang out the rest of my German Heavy Infantry for Konflikt 47 for a game on Saturday.
Busy day. Finished highlighting skin for 49 orks, started work on 58 bases(I had to be out of my mind when I initially came with this base design. Takes ages to do and this goes for two horde armies...Orks and IG...), put in with airbrush first stage for two dozen or so IG trooper and started painting one scion to test out colour scheme which involves not only new(for me) way to paint armour but also colour for cloth I have yet to use pretty much anywhere.
Oh and I did quick&dirty army lists for IG and orks that amounts about all I have(or that I at least remembered) including stuff that I have ordered but not yet received. Got:
Orks 407 power level, 6712 or so points.
IG: 279 power levels, 5017 or so points(for Imperium I also have whole bunch of blood angel and dark angel power armour guys plus 2 knights)
Model count is hundreds(there's 210 ork boyz alone. Due to the 8th ed pretty much quaranteed ork clans I need lots of these since few years ago I decided to collect mixture of all clans...I still need few hundred boyz!)
I am painting up a vedros dread. I'm sure someone else has done this, probably more than one someone, but i'm also working making a few quick profiles using the vedros rules for other factions. I want to try playing a game with my little nephews.
Putting paint on the last of my Brave and the Bold, so that I can get to working on my Rogues crew. Just have Rick Flag, Etrigan, Jason Blood and Raven to go, so I'm nearing the finish line, although I'll probably do Arkham Knight at the same time
Working on the Ad-Mech contents of Forgebane, decided to take a short break from the second Armiger and primed the Skitarii and robo-pope last night, started blocking in the bionics and other metal parts with boltgun metal now.
After that, back to painting yellow on the Armiger.
So I did the Black 2.0 on my Nephilim fighter. (pics to follow). It's not even the blackest black in my paint collection. Serious disappointment. I've primered a Dark Talon - going to airbrush it next with the high gloss black.
In Manchester on work so went along to the GW store. Loads of display cabinets and 5 gaming tables! Played my first two rounds of WH40K 8th edition and had a painting tutorial from one of the guys in the store. Walked away with my first painted Primaris Space Marine and the Citadel Essentials box to paint all my First Strike Ultramarines and Death Guard
Finally primed the underhive scum using the skull white spray, not a good idea to use the 10yr old tin, the propellant had evaporated and was spitting the paint out but I just managed to get the minis covered
Finishing painting and dipped a troll...now working on converting an MDF building into something more worthy of Mordheim --- if I can get it painted, I'll use it next weekend (Mordheim road trip!)
Pics of my Black 2.0 fighter. I'm pretty disappointed. Going to do the next fighter in Gloss Black and Red and dream of a working vantablack alternative in the future:
Game of Armada, Fishshtick lost (again), but in campaign terms didn't do too badly, doing nearly as much damage to the enemy while preserving his own fleet only losing more easily repaired craft.
Enemy have a decent repair bill second round running with a carrier going down plus a few fighter squadrons (inc. Vader) while we need to repair a corvette, another that was already damaged and a frigate... will take that even though the raid itself was a loss.
Campaign games.. love them, they play soooo differently when stuff surviving matters
Also my DBMM rulebook arrived with the Book 3 army lists alongside it to keep it warm
Started building the Warmachine minis I got in the 2-player box last week. I've got both Warcasters and all 6 Warjacks built. I'm waiting until I've practiced painting a bit on some cheap army men before I do any work on my minis, though.
Played Forgebane with my brother yesterday. I think we did some things wrong as the Necrons were doing way too well, but we had fun and whatnot, hopefully a rematch next weekend where we do things properly and maybe replace the Armigers with a regular Imperial Knight.
Today I spent some time priming armour panels for an Imperial Knight Paladin, along with some choice skulls from the skulls pack to use as trophies on the thing.
Orks, orks, then some more orks. Need to get 30 kommandos(not even sent yet from store), 15 stormboyz, some 35 grots including crew for 3 mek guns, some boyz and dozen tank busta or so at least in a month or so painted and based.
I'll get a better picture tonight, but I painted up this guy. High Gloss black plus a light coat of GreenStuffWorld's Red Goblin metallics on the statuary
Compel wrote: I don't like the far right one. - I think the black parts of it really interrupt the image
Yeah that's my least favourite as well. Guess the masking wasn't as good as I thought after all. also realized probably whole bottom should be covered in flames with gaps between individual leaps on up.
Will be trying again on 3rd one today and if that works redo these 2 as well to similar style.
If this can work should be sufficiently "clan free" mek gunz. I have multiple clans but I want to try to avoid some of the more expensive stuff from being clan-coded. Especially stuff like KMK's that are one of the few units orks have that work so that I don't need to bring specific clan always to field them(future proofing for codex). Black leans towad goff BUT I will make damn sure they don't have white checkerboard pattern and flames is something none of my goffs have(nor will obviously get).
Already got hurt by stuff like killa kans I have 6 in dethskull colours, 2 on bad moons and 3 on goffs. With codex using all 11 will be fun juggling!
It's surprisingly hard to figure out clan-free colour scheme! The 6 clans cover quite an area of colour schemes that I can think for orks! Whatever I come up easily reminds one of them...
Currently working on a cheap way to add more shelves to my display case for my minis. Plastic Shelf seems to be dipping due to weight, so making a mini terrain piece pillar to hold it up.
First 2 stages of red parts of stormboyz, final layer of skin for grots, did third attempt for mek gun and primed and put up grey coat for some tank bustas(prime black, then light grey to ease up painting green).
Then started working on land speeder storm+deth kopta+plasticard=chinork conversion.
edit: Oh and assembled weirdboy. Love the grots trying to hold on with chains of the crazy psyker!
Assembling Clear flight bases for my DA Air Wing. I'm now three 40mm flight bases away from an entirely rebased army. Unfortunately for me I ordered the 40mm flight bases without pegs :p
Game today, 40k @2k, pre-FAQ rules as practice for an upcoming event.
My Tyranids managed to bring home the silver medal against Dark Angels.
Struggling to hurt T5 stuff as usual, but not helped by failing about half the Psi rolls, and failing 6" charges, then failing the re-roll, and failing most of the saves...
meh, such happens, would have lost this one likely anyway but learnt a fair bit so not too fussed.
like 150+ tyranids can deny Dark Talon T1 overflights easily enough, and Rippers are good for sticking on the upper floors of ruins to prevent sneaky attempts to get round the ground carpet.
It could be considered slightly disheartening to have managed two charges beyond 2" in the entire game, but everyone gets days like that
Got in some good painting time for the first time in a few months. I finished up some Greek peltasts and archers. Then started work on some Indian elephants.
Primed my last 4 UCM New Orleans for DFC Primed the drones for my Ferrum for DZC Printed out some test token sheets to glue to chipboard and cut out for DFC.
Painting necrons. With the new codex I've decided to dive back into the first 40k army I ever collected and innthe process got a buttload of minis for literally free from a buddy that didnt want them.
Used the airbrush booth and found out the following:
1) They work. There is so much suction going on that it actually affects the texture of the primer. I'm thinking it might actually make GW Primer usable. (but probably not)
2) Using an aerosol based paint (figured it would be the most likely to cause problems) I found 0 leakage in the sides, but a definitely paint spray mark under the hood. Will have to lay newspaper down for that.
3) Darn things are noisy. Even noiser than my airbrush. Not certain if I can have other people in the apartment with me when I use this thing
Been planning a conversion for when the new Knight codex and assorted models drop. Been wanting to do more scions on foot for some time now and while the model in question is nice, it could do with some more gubbins and whatnot to enhance it and make it look more at home in the setting. One printout of the model's concept art and an afternoon of scribbling later, we may have something here..
Spoiler:
Still waiting on the model itself to show up though, dear Royal Mail, hurry up already!
Had japanese lessons so hobby time was limited but did get to pick up box with tons of IG and orks and assemble 8 slugga boyz, 26 shoota boyz(minus armour plates etc) and 4 tank bustas. I'll be continuing assembling those today after Ghazz leads boyz to a battle. Tomorrow need to prime and hopefully get first layer of skin so I have plenty to paint on long weekend I'll be having(thursday will be another game so no airbrushing time).
Looking forward to assembling gorkanaut. Rules suck but maybe codex helps and I can't help but love assembling ork walkers.
Finally started on a batch of Batman models I've had sitting on my desk. Etrigan, Jason Blood, Red Son Superman, Arkham Knight Sniper and Raven are now in various stages of painting, should hopefully get them done tomorrow
Assembled 12 Termagants and three bases of Rippers, washed and cleaned 8 eBay Termagants, will give me 30 with Fleshborers to run as 3x10 for general utility
I finally got the arms on my Stormguard Knights connected to the right spears. Turns out that the issue was just an issue with the mold at the hand connectors. Also got a plain primer to use instead of the Krylon paint+primer that I had been testing before. Really glad I tested it on some cheap dollar store army men, first. Speaking of those, I've been practicing my painting on those and have slowly been figuring out proper thinness of the paints (as well as which of my paints are thin enough already). As soon as I get these infantry built, I'll be ready to start painting.
Been very slowly assembling some Idoneth today. . . Hoping I can prime what I got left, and start getting some of these subassemblies into final place.
Will be leading orks to battle once more today. Have watered down list a bit and only 1500 so maybe I can actually get a game finished in time(by getting blown out of table by taking crappy units like gorkanaut and dreadnought but at least game should last more than 2-2.5 turns...)
Future War Cultist wrote: I want to spray paint my Overlord Frigate but rain is preventing me from doing so.
I feel your pain. I wanted to prime a few minis out in my garage since I finally got them assembled, but the weather has been bad all day and we've got a vehicle in there that takes up most of the space. I've been practicing my painting a bit on some dollar store army men, instead. I think I finally got a feel for just how much to thin down some of the colors, which will help when I finally get to the minis that need those colors.
Doing some more work on Red Son Superman, Raven, Arkham Knight Sniper and Etrigan/Jason Blood. Should hopefully get Superman, Raven and Arkham Knight finished up today
Working on my final unit of Sisters of Silence and some Null-Maiden Rhinos. Might finish up a few random miniatures I'm painting for Starfinder NPCs too.
Started on converting a pair of Sisters of Battle. Speaking of which is there any Sister's players that want to trade helmeted for non-helmeted? I have three Sisters with helmets left and am willing to trade straight across for three without. (2 Heavy Weapons figures and 1 Storm Bolter)
If you look at my painted Sisters army there are no helmets as it was easier to pick up models without. So I have kept that style since.
Painting up 20 termagants, just need the highlighting and bases to finish, ditto three more stands of rippers (17 stands now!). plus a bit more work on the last 8 ork boyz.
Some finishing touches on my Sisters of Silence - basing, a bit of additional work on the skin to make it match my other units and some transfers and weathering on the Rhinos.
Converted 9 Warlord Caesar's Legion Romans into post apocalypse Fallout Caesar's Legion to use in This Is Not A Test. Looking forward to playing it, but it won't be with painted models as I have 2 big assignments coming up for uni. Hobby is taking a hit because of it, but what can I do
Built and primed some Infinity and painted Nicodem, Mortimer and the vulture. Which completes the models I wanted for Ressers (Tara, Molly and Nicodem).
Continued painting dakkajet, 20 grots, weirdboy, 4 tankbustas, nob and 12 boyz. After this MOST of infantry I need for 20th day tournament is done bar basing(still need at least 4 tank bustas and 2 squig bombs done plus vehicles)
I'm going to finish my 15mm Romans. Then it's a couple quick pieces for my Gangs of Rome and Konflikt 47 projects, and then on to the big project - 10mm Ogre Kingdoms for Warmaster Revolution:
Found these guys buried with my 30-year old GW Genestealers, so painted them up with some INSTAR paint's metallics. INSTAR is a new UK paint line by a professional paint company that matches existing paints. They're creating a line of paints that match discontinued and existing (?) GW paints. They offer a 10ml size, for any paints you don't use much of.
Finally painted my last flyer and two agressors. I have to go over each models and add detail now - I'm happier with the 'busier' detailed theme than I thought.
Had one of the most epic games of 40K ever. Had things happen that just never happened before. Likely due to terrain.
It reminded me why impassable terrain is awesome. The table was so crammed that if it wasn't for the cards we drew from the Open War Deck, we wouldn't even be able to come close to fitting our armies on. Ended up with the column vs front deployment and meeting engagement. As well as supply cache.
2K point game, Craftworld vs Dark Angels. Yes, we used 7th rules but no formations, those are total jokes too, like "mortal wounds bs", because 8th is a silly place, like Camelot, where they have to push the pram-a-lot.
We also agreed to allow deep-strike in the later groups after group 1 in the "meeting engagement".
The table was setup with a bunch of basalt terrain with a canyon with impassable terrain walls on both sides and an opening on the opponents side and on my side. We deployed and both used our infiltrate rules to move into an objective so that turn one would reveal all objectives. I got first turn and none of mine were the cache so up the board we went.
My Captain, Interrogator Chaplain, were with a combat squad of bolters and a sergeant. Their goal was to tie up the eldar center that was backed up by the Avatar of Khain. I knew it would hurt but I had to keep that Avatar tied up and away from wherever the supply cache was. Plasma Cannon and Grav came in and tore up the place a bit, weakening the deployed eldar significantly, including two wounds on the avatar. This included popping the wave serpent with the wraithblades and taking down 3 of them bastards.
The eldar moved up in their turn with the avatar and wraithblades with their save increased to 2+ from the spirit seer. They charged into my tarpit and the avatar took my chaplain to one wound. The spiritseer did jack all, then one of the wraithblades finished off the chaplain and put some wounds on my captain.
They also rolled their objectives and the last objective was the one in the middle of the canyon. The epic was about to begin with the striking scorpions holding that objective.
Well over time everything started piling into the canyon with me using a drop pod to block off the eldar side of the canyon, but that didn't stop his dancing jetbikes going up and down and up and down the impassable terrain to poke at me. A venerable dread ripped a guardian squad apart and half a squad of dire avengers. Then the hero of the battle appeared. My blackknight command squad had one survivor, the apothecary. Who through amazing rolls proceeded through the battle to shoot down a wave serpent, blowing it up, 6 in blast, a fire prism, blowing it up as well, one shot each vehicle. Insane. And taking out two jet bikes before killing himself with plasma overheat. MVP stuff there. But our vehicles this battle kept blowing up. My venerable blew up, also 6 inches. His viper blew up also six inches. It was pure mayhem. My librarian took down his avatar after it killed it's way through two combat squads of tar and my chaplain and my captain.
For the first time ever I got a crossfire (drop-pod) blocking the canyon escape for a squad of dire avengers.
In the end it was a single model scatbike and a two model scatbike squad with his farseer on one wound facing down my Deathwing termies who were lucky and tough this game and one lone tactical squad dude.
As both of us had objective secured on the objective it was a draw.
Epic, explosive, and bloody. I think that impassable terrain is awesome and really added some zest to this battle with the close packed hell of the canyon which was only wide enough for a drop-pod or 4 marines abreast. Assault Marines and Jet bikes played a huge role as did the explody vehicles.
Also, my scouts did jack all the whole game.. lol. Still. It was arguable one of the most exciting games because of the restricted movement and being out of position and the bum rush for the objective and the last turn a doomed squad of three tacticals being scatter lasered down to one guy who had to re-roll 4 successful saves to keep it a draw and not a loss.
Will be leading out orks against slaanesh daemons in 1000 pts game(well 1003 for her). After facing gunlines 3/3 in tournament my orks are itching for good in your face game and I think slaanesh daemons aren't known for falling back and shooting so it should be good 'un!
I thought I was done with daemons, but a friend of mine doesn't think he'll be playing silver tower again and gave me one of the horrors (makes a nice herald). Finished that up, so I'm done with daemons. AGAIN.
Now on to my pathfinder red dragon (Reaper), finally
Wyrmalla wrote: Slat armour. You too can turn your perfectly nice BMD into a shopping trolley with its simple application!
That is fantastic! I'd always liked to take a BMP and make it into an Imperial Guard APC / AFV ... the application of Slat Armour makes your vehicle so much more urban and gritty!!
Working on clipping more bits off of sprues and putting them in my dedicated bits boxes, which is already helping to declutter my space. I'm also assembling some Toughest Girls of the Galaxy models (which might be used in my collection as counts-as Sisters of Battle).
I painted their purity seals, highlighted the gold in Ironbreaker and attached the symbols from Shapeways. Just to base them and get the tactical arrows for the other shoulder and they’re done!
Got some more work done on my current Batman batch, should hopefully start getting them finished tonight. Arkham Knight and Jason Blood need whites done, Blood, Raven and Superman need skin and Etrigan needs his demon skin, fire and a few skulls on the base
I’m aiming to do another 5 man batch of Intercessors but there’s a problem...I’ve also just rediscovered SimCity 3000 and I’m being sucked in. I should be highlighting the gold but I have to balance the town’s budget before it goes into the red!
Spent the evening clipping bits off sprues in order to free up space in the hobby box.
Also spent some time staring at the Chimera and Taurox sprues plotting all manner of conversion possibilities, need to finish off my Tau KT and some IG roughriders before doing Tanks tho.
Finished up Raven, Etrigan and Jason Blood are soon to follow. Happy to finally see them done, and now I can start working on my Central City Rogues crew
Today? Almost everyone I know is at Warhammer Fest - but my university deadlines put a stop to that for me! I'm hoping to finish up some plague marines
Rygnan wrote: Finished up Raven, Etrigan and Jason Blood are soon to follow. Happy to finally see them done, and now I can start working on my Central City Rogues crew
Blood is done now, but it's late so I'll probably finish Etrigan tomorrow
Painting prison jumpsuits, starting on my Central City Rogues with12 prisoners, all the Blackgate henchmen that Knight Models currently make. Aiming to have the jumpsuits done today and start on the bases, tomorrow all the skin and other cloth
Tangentially hobby related - I am headed to a business meeting for a pagan retreat.
The connection is that my original job with the retreat was running the Pathfinder game.
Somehow I ended up corralled into Financial Officer....
The Auld Grump - that retreat is how my wife and I got together, when she sat skyclad in my lap to 'help her with her character'. (I am amazingly thick sometimes - I did not recognize it as a seduction. Twice. I thought she was trying to freak the 'dane.)
Primed all my First Strike miniatures with Macragge Blue (spray) and Death Guard Green (brush). The spray was so much quicker and I felt gave a better finish. Even though I used 'two thin coats' of the green, there was definitely a noticeable reduction in detail compared to the spray.
I'm sculpting a Flesh Atronach from the Elder Scrolls at the moment (among all the other projects).. Trying to make realistic looking saggy fat is ...enlightening.
Continuing on my prisoners, got the bases, whites and metallics all finished today, aiming to get browns, blacks and tans done tonight so I can call the prisoners finished. Also started on Captain Cold, Killer Frost, Professor Zoom and Black Manta with these same colours, and primed Green Lantern and Rick Flag. All in all a productive day, but I'm hoping to get more done
Another month, another local 40k tournament, another 1-2 finish. I really need to gitgud. This time it wasn't my list's fault, but rather some poor play decisions, and one very bad matchup. It was still a fun day, and it's always nice to go hang out and throw dice with fellow gamers. I also picked up some Scout Bikes for my Dark Angels.
I played a game of kind of 40k which was a mix of the vedross rules and some homebrew additions. it was a lot of fun! Imperial guard vs orks in this case, with the orks coming out on top, just by a bit.
We worked objectives into it, but it's a work in progress.
Browns on prisoners to finish them off, and the lenses on Black Manta's helmet, to finish him off. I'll probably do the browns on some other models I have kicking around my desk as well to get them closer to completion as well (Captain Cold, Green Lantern and Rick Flag). My Rogues are getting quite close to completion now, after the prisoners and Manta I just need to paint Captain Cold, Killer Frost and Professor Zoom to have all the models I own for them painted, and all of them are in various stages of completion.
Went to my local FLGS's ding and dent sale and my 3 year old convinced me to buy him the Flames of War 2 player starter for $15. Now I'm assembling 15mm WWII tanks.
Been waiting for the humidity to subside so I can prime a few models. I've got the top halves of five chaos knights that need priming along with three spirit hosts.
Well, now that I have finished my prisoners and Black Manta, it's time to do the right thing and abandon half painted models for new projects. On that note, I've finished up bases on my first This Is Not A Test warband, based off of the Caesar's Legion from Fallout:New Vegas, so they should be primed tomorrow ready for paint. On the painting front, I'm starting Spider-Man tonight for some Marvel action, and maybe continuing on Green Lantern if I feel like it.

Did all these, but I ended up also doing some work on Captain Cold and Killer Frost at the same time. Only doing blues on them because I was doing the same on Spider-Man, but progress is progress
Got store credit from a used miniatures sale. Another 2 squads of primaris intercessors to assemble. Just need to get them enough to try out DW and see if I'm going to replace my primaris list

Finishing up Spider-Man today, and some more minor work on Rick Flag, Green Lantern and Captain Cold. Not going to get as much done today as the last few nights though because of uni work, but that's probably more important (and this lot will be finished in the next couple of days anyway)
Ended up not touching Spider-Man, but got Captain Cold and Green Lantern very close to completion. Aiming to get all 3 done in the next day or so, that way I can start on painting my This Is Not A Test warband before next week's game day
After several nights finishded assembling thIs baby. Instructions were horrible. Also assembled movement tray" for 215models. Next up start work on more bases. I have 100 grots to base and do airbrush before they can be fielded. Want to try 120 grot list!
Proof-of-concept for turning a £3 Wilko's kitchen storage bin into a reasonable office block/administrative building for AT / Epic in general.
I think it kind of works, just need to decide on the colour of acetate sheet to affix inside as glazing (loads of "windows") and whether I should add lighting.
Also assembled and primed/base-coated 2x of Vanguard's "ever-so-chunky" 6mm Mauler assault transports.
I also had to give the bathroom a thorough clean as it was windy outdoors today and I had to spray-prime in there ... good job I live alone :-)
(might post pics tomorrow as I think it's def got potential ...
Finished Spider-Man, Captain Cold and Green Lantern. Next up on the desk is some small details to finish Rick Flag and Killer Frost, then working on my This Is Not A Test warband in preparation for starting a campaign in a few weeks time.
Finished my Allopex, gearing up to do my Akhelian Guard(eel riders). I dislike the new flight stand so I got a set of the Shardwrack Spines to cut up and use to have barbed coral looking stuff that looks like the art for the Mor'phann Akhelian.
A single set of Shardwrack Spines will let you do 18 Akhelians, so man was that worthwhile.
Thought I was done with my Inceptors, only to realize I failed to paint some cables and thruster nozzles (doh!). So I'll be getting that wrapped up soonish, I hope.
Professor Zoom is pushed back a bit, working on my Watchmen as a quick little side project. Hoping to get them done in a couple of days, Nite Owl and Rorschach will both be finished tonight at least, maybe also Ozymandias
Glued together some cavalry mounts for my IG rough riders.
In a box somewhere in my parents loft there I know I've got a few sets of the old era metal rider legs, but not much good to me here. Going to have to need to think about making my own saddles and legs.
Finished my Watchmen crew for BMG, almost completed yellows on Professor Zoom, primed Killer Croc, Frank Miller Batman, the Easter Bunny Viktorias, and my This Is Not A Test warband, and got base coats down on my TNT bases. All in all quite a productive day when I spent most of it gaming, and after tomorrow I'm on a temporary hobby freeze while university assignments get finished up for the semester
Finished bases for my This Is Not A Test warband, and started painting Frank Miller Batman and Killer Croc. Finished 2 Mongrels from said TNT warband, so now I 'only' have 9 models to go for that as well, and the 2 Batman models I started today are going to be very quick jobs it looks like. Once they're done I only have 3 models left to finish from the Batman backlog until my Gotham City Sirens and The Other Side models arrive (Hulkbuster Iron Man, Professor Zoom and Wonder Woman on warhorse) so I can start making a dent in my quite large collection of unpainted Malifaux models in the meantime
Cut some hardboard to make terrain bases, also a bit more work on some 15mm Normans, have some baggage train stuff nearly ready, ditto a third command stand to be my overall commander then a further batch of archers and foot knights though they just have skin tones so far
DBA event at Bakewell in a couple of weeks so trying to get ready in time
So, two and a half years after the last parts were delivered, I’m finally starting work my Millennium Falcon project. Here’s what I’ve assembled so far:
Spoiler:
Excuse the messily presentation, but my desk is currently full of paint pots and Celestial Lions. Also, in case you want to know how big this peice of junk is, here is it’s 1:1 scale blueprint compared to the universal unit of measurement, the banana (and my old guddies)
I was planning on doing some painting today for some more marines to reinforce my Iron Warriors, however, I instead ended up playing a few games and Blood Red Skies and have to say I really enjoyed it.
More work on Miller Batman and Killer Croc to break up a take home exam I'm working on, aiming to have them close to finished so I can wrap them up tomorrow night.
Finished off Miller Batman and Killer Croc last night, working on last touches for Professor Zoom and touching up some Amazons. Only 2 days till I'm finished uni for the semester as well, so I'm hoping my recent hobby kick continues into the tons of spare time I'll have in the next few weeks
Messing around with some branches from a bush out the front, horse hair and hot glue gun to make some test trees for my bolt action.
Never really been happy with the ready made trees or tree armatures. Although the 4 ground trees do look good il be damned if I’m paying 22 quid a tree.
Working on my TNT warband, hopefully I'll have it done by the game day next week. I only have 2 Batman models left to paint though, so for completeness' sake I might finish them off during the week instead
I finished painting my Might Lord of Khorne! I want to keep working on my Bloodbound but it's too humid to basecoat anything so I'm probably going to work on some terrain projects I have lying around.
Hopefully I can finish some Dark Angels Scouts, and get started in earnest on a second squad of them. I did sell off a bunch of my Daemons stuff yesterday (ended up trading some of them for a Tau Hammerhead), so that's less temptation to flesh them out into a full-fledged army.
Built, primed and washed a pair of Helverins and a Valiant, also built a Forgeshrine and started work on a regular old Errant, only the arms and body, still need to do the legs, which will require some drastic cutting.
