Working on my Poxwalker Horde. 5 finished today, and the rest of them (another 39) now all with at least the green of their flesh done. Starting on adding the crimson wash for their tentacles next.

Putting some gloss varnish on some oop Eldar Jetbikes to eliminate the "silvering". Had one bad transfer and had to scrub it off and redo the paint on the bike. Also worked on the Standard for my entry into this months Painting Challenge.

Building my Knight-Gallant. I have to give credit to Games Workshop for the design of this kit. Despite being such a large and complex model it is surprisingly easy to build. Even moreso than the smaller Armigers.

Going to do some sealing if the rain lets up. And add some waterslide transfers to some more models.

Assembling the parts of a Galvanic magnavent for my future promethium refinery terrain project. I gotta say that the quality of the casting on these parts is considerably poorer than the Knights that I got with the Renegade set. They do not want to fit properly without a considerable amount of scraping/filing and even then they will have considerable gaps. The Sector Mechanicus stuff so far seems to be very well designed but a pain to get a good fit with.

Just got my copy of Blackstone Fortress, so I'm currently browsing the contents, and will shortly be gluing models together from it.

Playing Gates of Antares yrdting out some 1000 point lists for an event in Jan

Applying basing gravel/sand/grit to IG mortar + towed plasma cannon teams, scout spotter and infantry.

Also started custom Armiger conversion(from warglaive). Have modified faceplate, added personal details and converted chain blade to powerblade with copper wire, green stuff and plasti-card.

Is to match with pilot I have already completed.

played in a small SAGA tournament, came 4th from 6, think with a bit of practice I can reclaim the spoons

Working on getting my The Other Side stuff ready for basing and then painting, putting things on bases so I can at least play. Finished cleaning up a unit of Grenadiers, now onto the Infiltrators who are pretty much flawless already so won't need much work.

Well, apart from extreme house cleaning, I'm having a stab at casting some pieces from an AT Warhound kit with blue stuff.

The AT range doesn't come cheap and so for the cost of some milliput( £5 ), I should be able to squeeze out an extra warhound or two from the kit.

I might also do some work on my "Space Crusade meets Heroquest" project...

Painting my War Hydra. My dungeons and dragons group have decided to take a bounty to eliminate the hydra which is troubling the local waterways, so it needs painting up.

Really lovely mini. After a long time painting board game stuff, painting some GW plastics does remind me why they are the market leaders. The six heads make it a bit fiddly though!

Fixing warped pieces on my remaining TOS models and then starting on basing. Only have 7 Field Intelligence Corps, 3 Dragoons and 4 Royal Rifles to go until I have my whole pledge cleaned and assembled.

I am getting to work on painting an ugly bird.

Sleeved up my likely only deck of Keyforge. I like the game but don't want to invest more than the $10 needed for casual play.

Put decals on a 28mm Sherman tank for Bolt Action.

Painted the plasma guns on the primaris heavy weapon squad I have left to repaint.

Yesterday sneaked in a game of Pulp Alley.

Started on some oop Dark Reapers.

I finally got myself going and made a decent amount of progress. I'll probably have another session with all 42 of them again tomorrow, then after that I'll be in a position to pick out and finish individual models and finish them off for the following session.

Checking my primed LoTD resin, I had them on my desk on a plastic tray while the humbrol acrylic primer dried and one of the cats decided to jump onto the desk and catapult the tray.

Today I'm planning on working on my Dakka painting competition entry some more and get round to basing my entire Eldar army.

A little more work on my pile o' poxwalkers. Not as much as yesterday, but the daylight is quite bad, and I can't be bothered. I'll be starting to finish models off on my next session at least.

Painted Metal and Flesh on 7 boyz. Now for the cloth and paint on top of the metal.

With the sun out, going to see if I can take some photos.

SAGA army to replace my Normans who are still AWOL (house move, I know they are here _somewhere_) arrived, made a start putting Anglo-Saxons together.

Gripping Beast plastics, they are basic but functional models, cheap enough (40+ models for £22 or so).

Got two units, part of the third and the warlord put together, should but assembled and primed by the weekend

Played weekly game of 40k. Orks vs ad mech. I was trying out competive tournament list, was up against I think rookie who made couple big mistakes and had lot softer list. Add to that ice cold deck for him and it was clear ork victory. Weird to have gone from assault army to board control army to gunline.

Then at home continued work on Legio Mortis. Warlord, 2 reavers and 4 warhound need base edges black and then fire arc template lines drawn. Reavers need also weathering. Then all are ready for varnish. Also 18 knights are near done until weathering stage.

Finished my Escher gang leader and started washes/inks in the hair of about half of the remaining gang members. Bought them from a buddy who got the models built and about 60-75% painted.

Finished the boyz, altough a few might be destined for the SimpleGreen bath later - painting these details is definitely a learning experience.



Finished my new Weirdboy by giving him a pair of fist-shields after my greenstuff flaming hands failed. Need to get him a new name however.

Finishing my Knight Armiger Helverin. This guy was a treat to paint and fast too! Mostly drybrushing metallics with edge highlights over the panels.

Primed a bunch of SAGA Anglo Saxons, until my compressor overheated with just four left, have enough primed to do a 4 point force though so will get the flesh tones done tomorrow and see what I can finish.

Made some nightstalker bases look spooky by drybrushing grey and adding skulls.

Painting more Plague Marines for my Death Guard army, tomorrow I start building my first plagueburst crawler and my first attempt at magnetizing a model

Doing some work on my Thousand Sons Daemon Prince. Lots of greenstuff work to get decent wings out of High Elf Phoenix parts, getting the bitz to fit and all that.

As well as putting finishing touch or other parts like my Sorcerer in Terminator armour cloak. The damaged/rotten cloak from the kit doesn't fit my view of Thousand Sons, so I am repairing it and making it more pristine.

Started painting some SAGA figures, have a unit of levy spearmen to the point they could be just about used without too much shame, tomorrow will see some shading going on with a wash, perhaps some basic highlighting and the base coat for the metals.

will leave just the shields unpainted as not yet worked out what I want to do with them, need to research Anglo Saxon shield designs a bit more

Painting traitor knights

Assembling the models from Blackstone Fortress. They really do go together well without glue, although I'll probably go back and actually glue them to their bases so they don't come off during play. One of the biggest chores has been sanding the bases smooth to prepare them to be painted as per the video Duncan Rhodes did about how to do Blackstone Fortress bases. I love how that ended up looking, so I'm going to do something similar if not identical to that.

I painted 20 Cadian infantry, a Primaris Psyker, and put together a Shadowsword. It was a good day off work, like 12 straight hours of painting / building.

Finished a biker, but then got my package from FrontlineGaming that contained a pair of half-built Ork vehicles I've wanted for a while. I did a fitting test and settled on a possible configuration for two battlewagons:







Next up is finally getting around to working on my other side miniatures.

Even did a basing test on my painted miniature (now with correct base), but found the flocking too dark. Needs to be more vibrant to match Ethiopian fields I want.



Finally, continued on the Ork kitbashing. Replaced the big mega turret for a more streamlined one on the battlewagon.

Would prefer those to be honest, while finicky, it's easier to show sag in the tracks when they roll over the idlers. I have to melt the rubber together with a hot nail and I don't really fancy that.

I am painting tubes!

It is quite dull.

Put together a bolt action plastic tiger, not bad little kit. Was pretty straight forward although the tracks had to be held for a fair while to stop them moving apart. Prefer the Rubicon one piece track set up.

Also the detail on the rear deck engine covers is very flat, almost like they been cut from the inside of the hull which is a shame as the panther and king tiger don’t have that problem. That aside though it’s a tiger so it’s all good. Pop a small amount of stowage on, then on to tiger no2.

Painting Rangers for Middle Earth, first army to start the game. Finished up Strider Aragorn today after the test mini and prepared a few more to paint (Three Hunters, 6 Rangers of Middle Earth, 3 Dunedain and 3 Rangers of the North)

Finished painting my beyond coldfront miniatures.

Doing justice to the new stuff from CB is a bit beyond my painting skills. I'm happy being able to paint to a nice tabletop level, but these sculpts are so detailed and fine.

Basing and applying decals to my second Armiger Helverin. After this I might either do a Knight Paladin or paint up a Space Marine hero figure to take a break from painting navy blue.

Built another oop Ork Stormboyz. Getting there, now halfway through assembling and pinning these.

Finally putting the second half of the second tactical squad of the Blood Angels second company

Built some GSC Acolyte Hybrids.

Putting the (hopefully) finishing touch to my Tzeentch DP. Just done with the greenstuff, so once cured I should be able to finalize it and glue the last pieces.

Attended competive tournament. Not being competive player it showed. Not only was my list worse than others(not helped by lacking lots of needed models as GW shuffled good and bad units so bad to make sales) but also got outplayed often. Also would have helped if I had realized kill points were in all. At least capped at difference of 6 but basically starting at -6 in vp's every game was hard handicap to start.

Plenty of improvements I could make but plenty requires additional purchaces :-/

Putting together actual Mek Gunz. The scratch built ones seem extra cheezy these days, as if I just slapped them together because they were so OP.

The GW ones are far easier to build than the scratch-builts.

I have been touching up some of my Chaos Space Marine models to a better quality for Kill team.


I also recently managed to rough in the colors for my Skitarii kill team options.

Also still need to clean up and detail my 30K Dark Angels/Fallen Angels.

Finally, I have also got the base colors for the start of my Tau kill team.


These are to at least my tabletop standard, but becuase Kill Team doens't require that many models, I want to try to get them to the best I can do. I also have a bunch of bloodletters and horrors to finish up, but seeing how they don't have Kill Team rules, the all got bumped to the back of the que.

Combine mek gun kit with trukk kit and get all 4 from 100% GW parts. Easy to build as well and correct pieces identifying weapons from each other. Will be pretty similar size silhouette wise.

Anybody complaining will be TFG not worth playing with anyway

I've been working on some chaosish marines.

Will be starting on the 2nd tiger kit I bought from warlord the other day and also finish off sculpting some winter kit on to the tank crew.

Just played my first 800 point game at my local gaming club's WH40K night. Ultramarines vs World Eaters. Although I lost I was so close (1 wound) to killing a Daemon Prince in close combat with my Terminator Captain! Would have helped if I'd remembered that the Sanctic Halo gives him a 3++

Painting up the figures from Fantasy Flight Games' Fallout. They're quite nice figures for a boardgame, and a good size too. I could see using them for an RPG or table top wargame, if I ever needed to!

also picked up some 1mm styrene sheet and thus have now assembled my Cruel Seas Japanese, except the sampan masts as they are a royal pig, will need the holes filling then new holes drilling.

I like DV8's drones armour!! I've got some Dark Vengeance Models to paint - in paticular Dark Angel Ravenwing! I've also got some tau fire warriors bases to paint :(:(:(

Assembled some Plague Marines and did what I could with the leftover bits to modify some easy to build one. Ended up carving up one of the e2b marines, giving him a new chest plate and greenstuff’ing the gaps.

If I’m lucky and get time...painting up a second Slaanesh Seeker Chariot. One done, three to go (until the new SC boxes come in).

Currently I am re-assembling and painting my local gaming clubs older sector imperials terrain.

Whoever assembled it first used UHU adhesive, which meant it had virtually no structural integrity and was assembled in such a way that it was hilariously imbalanced on a few and probe to tipping.

Feth that. Disassembled, cleaned up, re-glued with proper poly cement and balanced them. I recon of the 5 buildings I'll get to make 4 out of them but I'd rather terrain well made and safe than painting the shambles it was.

Got 13 orks to paint. Nothing to do but get to it.

More work on Damian Wayne and Goliath today. Aiming to get them finished apart from bases, I'm not far off at this stage

Myself and a kinda-Khornate pyromaniac with a flamer took an Arbites precinct by ourselves, whilst out other three compatriots bluffed their way into local PDF motor pool, organised then in a parade to 'inspect the troops' before opening up on them with a heavy bolter.

Almost finished painting another of the five Ork oop Stormboyz. Went to the Imperial Hobbies Boxing week sale.

Yet again, more work on Goliath and my current batch of Rangers (2 Dunedain, 1 Ranger of the North and the Three Hunters). Today final highlights on the browns are being done so the Rangers will be finished pending basing, and I'll continue on highlighting the red on Goliath and Gimli

Getting work done on my Space Wolves characters. I've only got a few days left to finish them, so I'd better get a move on!

Built my Imperial Sector set.

Buildings are less ‘blingy’ than the single sets. But mixed in they ought to work nicely.

Continuing my Dark Angels Repulsor Build, panels don't line up very well, so green stuff work to fill gaps, and hopefully start magnetizing the 715 freaking guns on this thing

Bit of painting, but also three games of SAGA, and usually two wins

Finished up a Khorne Slaughterbrute, now back to work on the Creature Caster Lord of Ruin.

BMG and LotR gaming during the day, then finishing the last highlights on the batch of minis I have out. Goliath and Gimli needing some larger panels of red highlighted/layered, and the Rangers needing some small highlights on arrow fletching

Been painting my Lexcorp which is something I started 2 Christmases ago and I only work on during the holidays

I've done all the greens on them except the edge highlighting, which is going to be

Metallic Medium with Light Livery Green.


And I've started with the purple which I used as

Metallic Medium with Hexed Lichen.


Part of the reason that painting them has taken me so long is that I constantly forget what colour of paints I have used on them...

Primed 15 Daemonettes and 3 converted heralds (bigger bases and debris, plus large claws). Worked on more Seekers. Currently have 8 chariots, 20 Seekers, 30 Daemonettes, 1 converted KoS, 2 regular KoS, Masque, 8 fiends and 2 DPs for my Slaanesh army.

Waiting for this test of my new texture paint to dry. It's the first time I've tried Vallejo Earth Texture Acrylic and apart from the drying time being longer than stated (perhaps because it's spread thickly over a 55mm diameter vitamin tub lid) it looks pretty good. I deliberately went mad with the shaping of it to see how well the peaks hold up when dry. Smoothed out it looks like cement render (stucco) so it'll be good for model walls as well.



Unless I start decorating game boards with it, and I might, I imagine 200ml is going to last me a while. Nice colour too.

Almost finished painting another one of the five Ork oop Stormboyz. One more to go. When the last one is done I will go back for final corrections and then sealing.

It is indeed fun! Most of the time. Today i dropped a curtain on my shelf and broke a bunch of little dudes. This is less fun.

I've spent the last couple of days cleaning up and basing my Vostroyans in anticipation of getting them painted up before my order from GW arrives to complete my infantry company. I also assembled the first of 3 FW Bombards.

However the best part of the last couple of days was getting to encourage my 3 year old daughter in painting her first 2 ork nobz.

Interest being piqued by the reveals the other month, I’ve dug out my Deathwatch Overkill to take stock of my Genestealer Cult models.

Caused me to build the Neophytes that had been languishing in the Killteam box.

30+ Neophyte. 20ish Acolyte.4 Aberrant, usual Command and of course 2 Purestrain Genesequalers.

You know, I reckon another box of Acolytes to round out weapon selection, perhaps some for Metamorphs, and I’m mostly set for when the Codex comes out.

Add in bikers and buggies, and of course a transport or two....perhaps a trio of Leman Russ because boomboomboom?

Primed my Orlock gang that I built this week and glued them to their bases.

Got distracted and assembled three Ork Boyz.

Painted most of a carrion effigy, need to add blood (it's a theme with my ressers) and basing.

For AT, built my second Warlord, and magnetised it and my existing one. Well, the Apocalypse Launchers for the first anyway, as I’d glued the arm Weapons on.

I may try removing them tomorrow though, as plenty magnets spare.

Practising some wet blending on my farseer's cloak this evening and finishing off my old metal fire prism before the new year!

Built a few models for my new League of Assassins crew, and am currently finishing basing on this batch of Rangers

Sending out the last of this year’s Loot, in the form of three Noise Marines.

From there? Genuinely torn. Do I build more terrain, or make a start painting some Titans?

Spent the day with 5 friends playing more Black Crusade.

We were given Terminator armour (on loan!) to help with an ambush against a combined Imperial Guard/Ad Mech column that was supporting the arrival of an Imperator Titan.

We lead the ambush and in the end helped board the Titan's legs and sabotage it, leaving it irradiated and immobile far from its target (a device capable of drawing a whole planet into the Warp).

Our resident 1KSons Psyker kept blasting his Bolt of Change at enemy vehicles, resulting in a pair of peril's that shut down all our guns and armour. That slowed us down quite a bit, and as I couldn't be bothered unjamming my Reaper AC I just ploughed headlong into Skitarii and Guardmen hordes to cut them up with my Chainfist.

On a related note, Battlecannons and Inferno Cannons are dangerous, even when you're a hard-as-nails Nurgle-aligned Chaos Marine in Terminator Armour like me.

Finishing Gimli and Goliath, then I'm at the whim of the weather as to whether I actually get more painting in. Humidity has sat at around 70% for the last week and a half, hoping it drops so I can prime up a bunch of stuff

Worked yesterday on almost completing Prince Imrahil and 6 converted Gondor Warriors to use as foot Knights of Dol Amroth, today I'm gaming all day

Painting the top floor of my Renedra tower. It has a detailed interior, and suddenly I am glad only the top floor does.

I found a tiny owl! I am going to perch it upon a space marine, somehow.

Today, I battled BA (Primaris, 3 Dreads, 1 Lib Dread, 2 Preds) with my Necrons, 2000 pts.
The game was basically over in round 3 where I almost tabled him.

Continuing to work on some Imperial Guardsmen.

Today, it was time to convert 3 Night Scythes into Doom Scythes by attaching the underslung heavy weapon.
Now that DS got much cheaper, they are really playable.
But maybe pfreak5 comes around the corner telling you that Doomsday Arks are much better.
However, I cannot hear him - I simply cannot stand the * Ark models.

I've been asked to get a Goliaths gang painted for a mate.
After finding out about GW's Specialist Games in-store policy (don't stock anything after a fortnight), the idea of starting a Bloodbowl campaign died off.
So, last year's initial attempt at getting Necromunda going resurfaced, and I had to dig out a part-magnetised gang out for painting.
I'm going to be busy for a week or so.

Yesterday, I battled Marines (Primaris, 3x Dreads, 1 Lib Dread, 2x Pred) with my Necrons, 2000 pts.
Three Doomscythes did a good job. But I need a second Triarch Stalker for ''marker lights''.
Almost tabled him in round 3.

Been working on customizing my foam to fit all recently builded figures. Had to make a brand new foam tray out of leftover to fit my Heldrake, as it's too large to fit in the foam I normally use. Lots of hot glue later and now he's ready for transport!

Working on mounted Knights of Dol Amroth and Prince Imrahil, last bit of hobby for a couple of weeks before I travel to New Zealand

Today, no time to go to our gaming club.
But I'll resume painting my Deceiver.

Finished my Dark Angels Repulsor, now painting a Dark Angels Primaris Librarian

Repainting a hotwheels matchbox car for Gaslands.

Last night I put together a leman russ and an armoured sentinel (forgot how fiddly the legs are!). Today I'm hoping to finish off a squad of Vostroyan guardsmen and then maybe put together another sentinel or a tank

I just got done basecoating a t-34/85 with a T-34/ZP turret for Bolt action/ Konflict '47.

Well, resuming to paint the Nightbringer after finishing the Deceiver yesterday.
My impression from my recent games is that the Deceiver is the most useful C'tan in town.

Played 2 games of Batman as a celebration for my birthday tomorrow, and got a few models. Built those models, then continued on painting my 6 metal Knights of Dol Amroth and Prince Imrahil, doing the wash on metals now which will probably be the last painting for a few weeks

Finished my Nightbringer.
Now working on the transcendental Ctan.

Trying to figure out what project to start in the new year. I've been lazy the last 4 months and barely painted anything. Now I going to force myself to get stuff done.

Assembled a box of Nuglings, very nice models.

Also found four unpainted French Dragoons for Sharpe Practice, had wondered where they got to.

Found a box of French Hussars as well, the officer and three others, plus another five horses assembled for another unit.

Somewhere there is another box of Perry line French, a job for this week to find them

Woohoo... after 3 days of hobby time, finally managed to finish assembling the Blackstone Fortress minis. They are gorgeous, but damn are they spikey. I ended up trimming of quite a few extraneous blades and spikes to help.differentiate between the Guard duplicate.

The last set of this scale I had was Space Crusade, and these models.are light years away from those.

Back to work tomorrow though, so no idea when I might actually play a game

I'll be continuing the Necromunda Goliaths I tried magnetising last year.
The arm joints are odd, with an overhang to stop the arms sliding down. This means that the magnet connections have to be just-right, and the arm side is difficult to line up.
I ended up gluing a few of the arms on, and the 2-arms-holding-a-weapon are the majority I ended up keeping loose.

Finished all three Ctans. Now they are ready to play.
But only the Deceiver will enter my army lists.

Unfortunately ended up with a cold and have not been able to progress the mortar teams any further.

Finished the assembly and basing of my French Hussars, primed and put the first wash on the Nurglings

Continuing with my modern silliness. For a while now I've been making miniatures based on the Ukrainian conflict. That's been relatively tame. Now I'm covering the Syrian Civil War, and well things just get silly over there...

Today an order from Warlord Games showed up, so I was able to make a start on my latest technical. This one's a commercial truck chassis with a WWII era Soviet Zis-3 Field Gun mounted on the back. ...Which at least is a bit more reasonable than the even lighter trucks I've seen these bolted onto.

The plan's to sculpt some crew figures up for it. Modern Artillery crew miniatures are next to non-existent, so I'm using some sculpts I started for my Ukrainian project for this. At the moment one of the key things on my mind is to improve my sculpting, as its now an area that I kind of want to move into as a career, so vehicles like this are just fodder for a bit of experience (whereas I could have bought existing models and just converted them for my purposes). Here's hoping that pans out.

Building two 500-pt unofficial armies for Gates of Antares for us to give the rules a try. Used a Stargrunt platoon to make a small force of Algoryns and bits from the Jupiter Rescue boardgame to make Ghar outside of their battlesuits.

Also just finished my 5th of 10 Orlock gangers from the new kit. Green-stuffed bandanas around their faces.

Picked up a Tyranids Maleceptor this weekend, so I'm building it right now. Most part done, but I decided to magnetize the Toxicrene options as well (head and arms only). So this part take more time as I try to be as neat and precise as possible so the parts fit well. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the magnet in and green stuff too.

Priming the last few miniatures of my Vanguard stuff.
Then onto painting my army of nightmares.

Deployed my orks to the table for the first time yesterday and naturally had a couple models break. Time to glue/repair.

After that 5 more Ork boyz. Even with all these third party bits I'm starting to go nuts working on all these boyz in the same color scheme.

Picked up my infection node box from post office, played two games of Sharp Practice, leading the French to the silver medal in both, still learning the rules for this amazing little game.

got home and found the second box of Perry's French line infantry which is a little project for this week to get assembled and based up, ideally primed if time permits.

Despatch note for two boxes of Venomthropes as well for an upcoming event, expect to have these built by end of next weekend as the paint scheme is pretty basic

Basically completed the second pair of Guardsmen for the three mortar teams.

Got home today from New Zealand, so making the most of it and continuing Knights of Dol Amroth. My main brush is on its last legs though, so progress has halted until I can pick up some new brushes

Working on the gang leader and last model for my new Orlocks. Also put a wash on some board game aliens that will be my proxy Ghar as we test Gates of Antares as a possible addition to our schedule.

Finishing these Ork boyz even if it kills me, then moving on to the ShockkJump dragster because I want something straightforward to paint.

I picked up the Squig herd, so I'll be adding a couple gretchin/grots to my list along with a bunch of squigs to my vehicles as drivers and gunners.

Apparently my Khemri Brown paint is dried out....RIP Khemri brown. Now I need to either buy GW's newest version or find a cheaper alternative.

Aims for today were/are: Finish painting my Forgefiend and build/magnetize my second Reaver.

It feels as if magnetizing this Reaver is an awful lot easier than the first one.

I'm going to wash, flock, and varnish my Mordheim warband, and that'll be them done until the campaign starts and I either start taking casualties or adding to the Henchmen.

Finished off a 2000 point nightstalker army, for now.

primed 42 Perry's french infantry, primed a neurothrope, venomthrope and zoenthrope, though they need a second coat tomorrow.

more on some Perry's French Hussars, including replacing the dark blue with "Azure" after finding out the colour is meant to be "sky blue", not "Prussian blue", they do look a lot nicer.

with luck will get them finished tomorrow ready for a game on Sunday, where on past form with Cavalry in Sharp Practice they will end up in the corner of the board trying to slowly become relevant again.

The upcoming GSC gunslinger is part of a Kill Team pkg that'll cost $50 if it costs a penny. It's also the only model I'd want from the team and I don't play KT.

So one GSC trooper plus three six-shooter arms left over from building an Orlock gang nets me this substitute. I'm a tabletop standard painter so this gets me closer to being able to afford the new GSC stuff.
