I couldn't find enough evidence to incriminate anyone, so I tested the lightning theory again.
Because the Ski lodge has a stone roof, the non-flammable roof actually prevents the rain from putting out the fire.
Fire does not seem to be as nerfed as I thought. A single ignition point (even at the corner) was enough to burn down 90% of the ski lodge. In the rain.
Who owns the ski lodge? I can help to rebuild it...
TBH, anything you can do to investigate, dark can do better Let him sort it, there's nothing us mortals can do other than confess or provide a witness statement

I try to mix things up a bit with a good bit of arm flailing, but even then that only keeps me amused for a week or so.
angry mobs is the way to go. Torches and pitchforks, march around looking purposeful to nowhere in particular until the culprit is caught. Maybe a few virgins sacrificed to speed things up a bit.
The Ski Lodge's structure is now mostly repaired. Although I did most of it from memory. It needs a few interior walls, some step blocks and any decorations replaced. More dark wood is available at the tree farm nearby.
I also put down a lot more torches, because every time I went in there (in the backups before the fire), there were mobs everywhere.
None of the glass was broken, it had just done that thing where it shrinks when it's not attached to anything. The piston door was already like that before the fire :-/ so I haven't touched it.
The Mushroom Forest is begun/complete (it should be much, much bigger) in Khazak whatever. The Dwarf city. Careful when going in, though, because there may be mobs, and you can't see very far.
Also, anyone can tell me what the button is that prints MC, like the above picture? I want to show some of what I've been doing in Creative mode.
F2 takes a screen shot, F1 before it will remove the HUD for a clearer shot.
Then you can find it by opening run and going to %appdata%, you want to go to the .minecraft folder within the roaming one. Should be easy enough to find the screenshots from there.
f2. Thanks. Knew it was one of the f keys, just forgot which one.
One thing that I've been very, very annoyed with, is that my Windows 7 has for some reason decided to hide my AppData folder, so for a while I couldn't get to it without doing a Documents search.
Yeah, i was so surprised when i found him in the depths of my mine, he was just chilling and ignored me completely. Kinda annoyed the Image didn't work.

yeah, creepers sometimes do that. A few pages back there's my collection of screenshots, one of which is a friendly creeper.
Just found a mineshaft and adjoining ravine system off my previously unexplored path. i weed when I saw the system....It IS HUGE. I mean like a huge cavern. Not the mesa though. Mineshafts, and cavernous caverns.
Finished building my bridge for a while, left a hole in the end for any future additions to be added to it. Can kind of see that not all of the supports lead to the bottom of the water, something I'll fix up later.
At the moment it leads out to a hill that has a sort of nice view around it, started building a gazebo of sorts for it but not sure if should keep it as one or make a sort of shrine thing with the gold I've got building up.
Then if it is to go the shrine route, not sure if to make it have a large fire pit in the center (as this is pretty much the first thing you'll see if travelling on the overworld from the manor via the path from spawn) or just put a large tree in the center of it.
If you haven't been to my temple, it is worth the trip
if you have been, the entire temple would almost fit inside the foot, its 4-6 times larger than the space marine statue in front of the temple.

IMO the game is worth every euro/dollar it costs,
the amount of time you put into it and all the stuff to do.
Ofc the graphics are old, but they have their charm.
The worst thing is propably the anarchic multiplayer code but its still playable.
I know that some of Martin IntheLittleWood's videos show off just how 'advanced' the graphics can get using things like OptiFine and various texturepacks- the Chestless with Luclin series, especially. The trees and grass waves in a breeze!
Okay, I'm almost down to the right Y-level for my templeNow to start working out on hollowing out the first five Y-levels (building it top down so I don't have to make any supports to stand on while I build).

when you are building something made of about half a million bricks, just lighting is great but the chances of a creeper showing up isn't a question of if, its a question of when.
By building hidden away spawn areas the mobs that /do/ spawn, are safe and sound inside walls and floors rather than hiding in some corner somewhere.
I'd trade a single chest full of gold blocks to make the biome this thing sits on a mooshroomer so there was never a chance of mobs, but cant win them all :(
So ladies and gents, I've finished my oh so shiny and impressive arena. And I was wondering if anyone fancy'd taking part in an inauguration ceremony for it, in the form of a PvP tournament.
Rules are being made up as I go along, but will roughly be as follows:
Same weapons and armour- gotta be a fair fight and all- at the moment I'm thinking iron gear.
No enchantments or special food- again same as above.
And you've got to have a full food bar- to ensure your health doesn't start dropping half way through the fight.
Of course depending on the popularity of this/ special requests there may be special events/ different classes to enter in etc.
So if your interested Pm me and i'll sign you up and get working on a start time for it that's good for everyone.

wait, do mobs not spawn i mushroom areas? why is that?
Bows will probably be in the special round, or I may have to build something else as I think the arena is a bit small for shooting at each other. (Not that it's small for PvP)
Nether co-ords are: X: -144 Z: -55.
And there are sign posts leading from the spawn portal.
Well they spawn up high get pushed by a piston (I assume so, that or they just fall) and they fall so far down they're left with just a tiny bit of health. Which can be punched.
You flip the lever and the floor goes down, and then they auto-die and you can just get the loot easy.
In short they're one block from their death when they fall.
I'm amazed it works on SMP! My Zombie Grinder should work the same way (it's the proper distance) but only 1 in 4 or 5 actually survive, or have low enough health.

This xp grinder has been designed in SMP by these german minecrafters for their own server. I just copied the design. There is one fault with it, sometimes the sticky pistons don't stick to their blocks thus removing a spawn place. If the grinder is running slow, that is probably why.
Hey has anyone gone into the dwarven city and tampered with the floor design ive been doing threwout the tunnels? Just logged on and there has been a 5x5 spot thats been turned into smooth stone, a walls been turned into all cobble and i spoted a cavern like object trying to be "hidden" beside one of the stairs i made. I think you mean the Administratum, who are clearly the coolest. All rebuttals must be filled out in triplicate after form EKA28371 (Request For Rebuttal) and form AKDN93784628363 (Request for Requisition) have been approved by a local governor or committee of governing bodies (depending on the legal structure of the current system the rebuttal is originating from). The form must then be notarised and transported to the governor of that sector's direct superior before finally being placed in line for final approval. Thus allowing you to have the opportunity to possibly rebut the coolness of the Administarium so long as the guidelines layed out for such a statement are adhered to and follows template AJS938462 (Official Rebuttal Template: Administratum: Coolness) whilst in the presence of local law enforcement depending on the level of the statement which may require the intervention of an Inquisitor; at which time you will be silenced instead if the statement is deemed inflamatory.
Ok guys, I've been away a while, and now that I've come back I've found a stack of diamonds and a diamond pickaxe is missing from my house. I'm not that annoyed, but if anyone knows about this I'd like to hear from them. Thanks in advance.

You can always go visit my multi-colored sheep farm. From 0,0, follow the signs to my portal, then head past it and follow the (long) trail to the sheep farm.
Portal is around -650, +100 (I think, might have the signs mixed up)
You can also use mine if youcan find it. Although someone has been leaving open the doors (they're not just glitching through the walls, someone is actually actively leaving doors open as they use the sheep ranch).

You didn't follow up with my idea about digging a two deep pit with a trapdoor to get in and out of the pit did you?
I posted it here because I want it done if you would be so kind.
I mulled it other in my head, and feel it was un-justified, at certain points.

Once I am fully stripped out my Suburbia house and taken it down, I'll be leaving suburbia. To be honest, it was too crowded after I came, and the maze/coolyo's tower which both have had numerous complaints from DIFFERENT people haven't been fixed.
Runnig a village is hard.
I know from experience, since Im building mine (other server!) between 2 mountains next to a forest and lake.
I am actually running out of dirt.

True desperation.
If only I could run a village...
Just start building one.
Mine was pretty easy.
The clan Im in got this fortress between 2 mountains, see..
Its actually not at all about running a village, it's about people actually doing things when asked to nicely.
I kinda got irritated at Coolio and the maze holder just after the third time I asked NICELY for something to be done, and there was no response to it.
Thats too bad.
I asked if someone could help me with a farm on a few servers, and everytime someone came and build an epic farm on their own.
Someone teleported to me to look at what we had, left 2 large chests full of stuff and took a plot.
Might be the bond of having the same skin.

Same here. Coolio's problem was fixed, but the maze... I'm not sure about.
If anyone want to start making some movies for youtube with me at a cracked server, please tell me.
You don't need headset or so.
I dont use dat anyways.
Anyone have the ability to host games? Was thinking of getting a few people from Dakka to play the Skyblock map with me.
We'd need a host, someone to record what's going on (maybe the host can?), and possibly skype (I wouldn't be using it, but it's more interesting to watch with people talking).
Probably one person to host, one person to take/edit/post the video.
My ports are nigh-unconfigurable and all I have for recording is an old version of FRAPS, so I can't really do either.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and:
I went in to creative and did a test run on my temple, it's going to have various side alcoves containing various symbols in ascii art. Just curious if this is the right direction though-- I was going for an ankh.
With that texture pack it's just the larger bricks of the floor look better against the smaller bricks of the wall. Fits together still, but also breaks it up in a way. Although looking at it more it might be better to go with the smaller bricked floor to blend it in with the stairs and make the alcove stand out more. I think I just convinced myself to like the second more than the first.
What are the dimensions by the way? I sort of feel like messing around with it as well, see if I can come up with anything that can give you ideas.
n0t_u wrote:What are the dimensions by the way? I sort of feel like messing around with it as well, see if I can come up with anything that can give you ideas.
When it's finished, I plan for it to be 15-20 high (building it from the ceiling down after I finish planning). I am not decided on a layout, so I can't really give dimensions. The current hallway and the first alcoves are five wide.
Made a few with roughly those dimensions then. These are 15 tall not counting the floor and the "ceiling".
First with glowstone for the ankh.
Then replaced it with lava as it's cheaper and can actually kill stupid people.
Then the obnoxious level.
After that made the other side of the hall to get more of a feel for it.
Finally made it more obnoxious, but with a benefit.
Checked all of the blocks and it's bright enough that none of the blocks appear to drop below light level 9. Of course it might not look as good as your ones, but with it at that height it's actually quite cool to walk around in it a bit.

I don't know if any of you realise, but the reason I haven't been near the maze in a while is because I am doing exams and was previously studying for my exams. So if you have a problem with a virtual building that is in the works of being fixed up, why don't you bugger off and complain about something else. It was there far longer than Suburbia and will be fixed. Also, have you been trying to make a pattern with normal stairs and upside-down stairs over a very deep ocean? I don't think you are, so again, complain about something else. Why don't you check out the map because surely you haven't seen it in a while.
Tyranid, I hardly give a crud about your exam life. If you cannae do it, relegate the task over to someone else. I lit the whole maze because it was spawning mobs from the tops of it. I also recall that you SAID that you'd give it priority.
As for what I am doing. I am moving out of suburbia and I have a nice large place away from that hideous mess of a maze.
You just don't get it do you. You adopted that, you said you'd fix it and you haven't. Therefore I have a right to complain at you.
Being part netherack from memory, it may make it look a little better.
Honestly though it was kind of fun to do a run through of it before, it's just the outside of it. I think we need a labyrinth somewhere and not just the cave system Mel's temple is trying to fight off. Maybe if I can ever be bothered I could throw together a hedge maze, but I'd rather just enjoy trying to get through it than building it; as if I did there would be no challenge in it to me.
Just noticed, we are almost at 400 pages.
I might try to get back into minecraft, I have been playing Technic SSP a bit, but I haven't been on the server in ages.
Not much that I nkow of. I've been continuing to clear out the MASSIVE natural cave system (not_me and I had a joint venture where we went through well over a total of thirteen stacks of torches and that was on top of my previous ventures, and we're still not done yet), which I need to shut off so I don't get any surprises whenever I get around to digging out my temple which itself will likely be rather massive and require truly prodigious amounts of stone brick.
I'm new to the Minecraft scene (by new, I mean: 'I'm getting it this Thursday'), and this may be crazy but...
What if we had a city dedicated to roleplaying? I would love to design a city and several dungeons for the sole purpose of running an RP. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in such a thing.
At least on our server, I don't think that's really something that'll work out. Dakkacraft is pure vanilla Minecraft, and we tend to be more builders than anything else- we somewhat 'Roleplay' through what we're building, and our skins, but most of the community projects are dedicated to massive construction in vanilla SMP.
The 'best' RP servers will normally have mods installed for things like 'character name chat' and minimaps, or utilize Adventure Mode or pre-made Adventure Maps, as well as having invisibility, no-clip and fly mods installed for the Moderators or GMs.
I'd actually suggest checking out Hammercraft, and perhaps looking to see if there are any other RP servers out there that fit what you're looking for- I'm sure they're out there.
It could work, with the new trading patch whenever it comes out we could even have a currency to go along with it.
I have refurbished village out in the middle of nowhere that could be considered if people wanted to use it. I figure NPC villagers would also help add to it.
Also Mel, I'm up for any more cave exploring whenever really. Kind of curious to see how many stacks it takes in the end considering we seemed to keep finding more cave.
I found one of the most *bleeping* huge cave systems I have EVER seen, like 5 or 6 ravines together as one. Its going to take at least 4 trips to clear it. Plus I have a mineshaft as well.
Oh, and someone has destroyed the beanstalk portal on the nether side.
Dunno when I will feel like it, not_u. If I do, I'll bug you on steam.

Two mine shafts, at least three ravines, six dungeons, but mostly, it's just huge natural caves, without special terrain features.
But eventually buy it so you can join everyone here.
Matt.Kingsley wrote:In the latest patch, currency can be used to make blocks! Emerald Blocks! Though villagers won't buy them
Emerald blocks = Emerald house. Well depending on how they look at least. May end up being a floor somewhere for me. Or more if they look good against Obsidian, been meaning to make my door fancier than iron.
Edit: Page 400 get.
Also we just need more gems added eventually. I know there's a mod floating around with them I think.

Texture for the blocks is quite nice, not just straight solid colour
and 4th post And I currently have that mod installed, adds rubies sapphires and emeralds, all with boring (but nice) textures
I forget which mod it is though...
And, I agree with you Mordo, an RP on minecraft with a purpose built city would be cool, but I also agree with the others that the Dakka server isn't really appropriate. For a start you would really need to use creative mode to make the city in any sensible length of time.
Does that mean they only link to ones you make or that each player has their own enderchest inventory? First way would still allow trading, but much more controlled.
You lose the ender pearl when breaking the chest, but this means you can finally lock your items away (at the cost of pearls) by breaking all ender chests you own, making the contents inaccessible to anyone but you!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Good question, I hadn't thought of that. Do specific enderchests belong to individual players or does any enderchest show the contents of that players' "ender-inventory"?
Well we don't have any issue with getting pearls. I have no idea why, but I'm up to filling my third double chest of them.
The thing I found the most interesting about the chests was that they seemed to open up long distance trading. Even sending letters with the new books. Though if they're not I guess I'd only really have an interest in them for decoration of sorts.
Edit: I guess someone will test that hopefully and let everyone know. I don't mind having several of the things to trade with different people. But if so I figure that trading building we have could get one from every player with their name placed on a sign near it or just a new building for it entirely.
I thought there was one inside wolf's pyramid, but I can't find an entrance to it. The pyramid is solid on all sides, apart from a single tunnel that doesn't go anywhere.
EDIT: I have found my error. It isn't wolf's pyramid I am at... I didn't realise there was another one.
