If I build the wall of sod high enough then I can indeed tell my neighbors to sod off and they wont be able to hear me... or see me.
Hopefully I might paint something soon and we can get this thread back on the rails! in the mean time its nice to know that we can all talk randomly!
Anyone here from north africa? Blimey its a funny old world at the mo. Earthquakes, volcanos, people wanting democracy, if I was religious I might think the end times had come. Incidently I hope all the new zealand dakka-ites are in one piece, and those in rioting countries - keep fighting the power!! Stick it to the man etc
Well I better not blather on for too long I have mugs and minis to post
and if it weren´t for the bloodshed i was all for a lil revolution every now and then... like the air is so much clearer after a nice thunder and lighning...but pollution soon enough starts to creep up again...
You can also search for O Scale Model Railroad Graffiti decals. In fact, anything from O Scale or 1:48th scale models, can be used in Warhammer. Enjoy!
New things - more converted beastmen and RT space pirates!! - the dude with the big hair has a robot arm and what looks like a mutated leg - I like him. Painting will commence dreckly...
If there is only war, it's probably not very safe to stand upright, the 2 guys hunched over still have all their limbs.
'I will stand tall and proud...bugger, got shot again'
or maybe they are ducking to avoid low-flying mutant razor-winged bats... Either way it seems to be a feature - and is in part responsible for rt minis looking so short.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I've just ordered the vallejo 8 paint wash set - Sepia / Pale Grey / Black/ Fleshtone / Umber / Red / Green / Blue - this should get me painting at speed again!
Lol-tastic... but I did it buy adding suger syrup to my normal grape juice wine and then adding a special yeast that ferments up to 18% alcohol - they sell it in all good brewing departments
Automatically Appended Next Post: At christmas I got a little typsy and mistook a bottle of port for wine. Me and my cousin had several wine glasses...
I disaprove of white lightening - thats not to say I didnt drink it as a teenager of course! Mixed with cheap beer if I remember right. You can actually ferment ribena and make a passable blackcurrent wine!! - I have three blackcurrant bushes now so in a year or maybe two I will have the real thing.
Port is like wine for people with an enormous alcohol tolerance. I find it best to stick to just a couple of glasses not the whole bottle - and woe betide anyone mixing it - used to get back from the club with a few drunk friends in tow and they would say 'can we have some of your incredibly strong wine' next day they would regret my generosity... and that was just the 14% stuff
Port is the nectar of the gods and should be treated with due reverence. IMHO there is no other fruit based drink that has the same power to warm on a cold day. Best used in a hip flask at rugger matchs or straight from the bottle if you are classy like what I am.
Looking forward to seeing those Space Pirates painted.
Well as an antidote to all the alcohol flowing round these parts, I'm enjoying some tea (unfortunately from the work supply tetley I think) from this excellent mug that I just received.
Long time no updates... I think I lost track of time. Its been a week of digging in the cold wind and feeble march sunshine. Sooo tired, think I might be out of shape - but we are making the other allotment owners look lazy!
Gitsplittas mug will be glazed soon - Just waiting to hear what colours he wants.
Here is my new monster - I love his four eyes!!
And here is what came through the post - vallejo wash set! should encourage me to paint more
Automatically Appended Next Post: More hot off the press - done with the new washes - they are a bit more subdued than GW - great coverage though
Chainsaw warrior dude - leader of the mercenary troop
ooh nice , those washes are very cool , love his face , hair could be a difeent colour imho , but strill looks da bomd as it were. and good on you and your allotment excersise routine . maybe i should start jogging again....... btw how much were the washes?
eight washes for that price beats GW washes anytime of the day in my purse...
the commander looks really good tho i have to say a grey hairdo would give him a better air of leadership...(me going grey to would underline that anyday^^)
the monster is one heck of a positive monster... he looks a bit as if he is one of the characters of these sad and lovley creatures of the monsters ltd movie form back a few years^^
Another cheerful gribbly for the clan Eyes are cool, the wash blending on the arms looks a little sharp though. Chainsaw warrior looks good, nice freehanding again. The colours suit him better than the traditional green/camo he normally gets done in too.
I tend to agree about the blue hair - but I probably wont get around to doing anything about it - I prefer to move swiftly on. I see what you mean about monsters inc victor! they are a bit like that!!
I hate painting things in a traditional way; when I was young I would slavishly copy the 'eavy metal colour scheme but these days I'm trying to be experimental. Its more interesting and if it wasn't interesting I would surely give up.
Yep, I never could get into painting my guys the same as everyone else, where's the fun in that?
But for some reason everytime I pick up a chainsaw warrior I just think 'green'. That's the real reason they've stayed unpainted all this time, nothing to do with my laziness at all.
if i was ever into ultra marinesi would probably jsut buy them painted... i think this will never ever happen^^ ...
so i am all for individuality and going for a special look for ones army...after all i think it would be the pinacle of boredom on a table if bloodangel against bloodangel would have to fight...
Some more minis to make you all jelous! Got a lotta new stuff to boast the forces of chaos - these terminators are the most oldschool you can get - I'm going to give the one with the missing arm a multimelta I think:
GIANT HAND!!! This dude is fairly oldschool second ed. I love his enormous fist!
And this dude is just bizzare so I had to have him - I think he is a seahorse with legs! Whatever, strap a gun on him and hes good to go.
Heres inquisitor number four, surely the most impressive of them too. Old Syro peg-leg to his enemies and His Supremacy, Syrocusious Kathqurka Inquisitor Magester Supremus to his servants.
And finally the new orlock - she is not one of the honeys she is the hardass chick with a big gun
yes - I want to be in team rocket and save the world from truth and light!! its definitely a heretical abomination, the inquisitor would have the whole program purged.
Ahh, I have a bunch of scouts who all had some sort of nasty solarium accident Plus some traitor guard who look like they Homer and Marge were in their family tree.
sure^^, what range is he/it from? the really big gun is a nice contrast to the rather pale body...i lkie the eyes of him particulary...the freehand on his kjnees looks as if you actually had a liesized modle and spraygunned the "5" and the star onto it via a stencil...
damn it how do you spell antocities workshop? I cant remeber
Automatically Appended Next Post: I would say he is purely artistic - but he can always fight with the mercs - the official imperial forces wont have robots - if its not got a human brain wired into it then its not on
i think he would be fitting for the mercs... like he would be good with a name like: marvin...in it´s second life... now back with a vengance and spreading despondence to all others...^^
Yeah I'm bookmarking that one too - so difficult for my brain to even remember it let alone spell it.
I love the future car and I was very tempted to buy the mad scientist with the half robot body and metal octopus arms - be great as a renegade tech-priest
Yeah, I've managed to avoid any actual minis so far, just get modelling supplies from there, but think I'll be getting a few next order. That mad scientist for one
Well, that shows what a good paint job does I've never really cared for the synths much, bought a few for conversion pieces, and to be fair if that photo was the only one I'd seen I wouldn't care much for that piece, but I liked your version enough to consider getting a couple.
me too, but that purchase is so far away that i don´t have a long enough stick to even touch it yet^^
the urban war minis have really good minatures... 40k wise much to be used and converted to get unique looking minis on the table...very characterful...
on ebay i set my eyes on some arabites looking minis for quite some time...and i see other minis as commissars all the way... the company has lots of cool looking minis...gosh the moey one could spent if one could but spend...
so weety.... today we here in germany celebrate the womensday...well normally a day to get some cheap flowers and sweets to get a kiss from my dear wife and all...but guess what? i heard the doorbell ring and the postman brought me a big package from good old england...blue plastic box and all^^
well let me say my wife and me where really thankful for the mug and the testing begins tomorrow when we eat breakfast together...the pictures you showed really didn´t do the mug justice...i have to say that seeing your pics i had thought it would be far more heavier weighing, but now holding it in my hands i say it is rather unexpectedly light... that has to be a special feature of the clay?!
well thank you agian for that beautiful work of yours...and to all out there following this thread here, i recommend getting your own mug from weety! evereyone should have one, or two or three....
Myabe you could have a random droid gang made from donated random droid models , donated by dakka members chosen at random by randy jackson and dom jolly. who are being held ransom in the dominican republic....okay now i know its bedtime ...;-)
Ooh good one , you have taken the best though , will be hard to find a beater.... A robot must protect its own pun , so long as its own pun does not conflict with the first pun or second pun

I have him, he came with a collectors edition of the inquisitor novels back in the early 90's he's meant to be Draco from the novels but one fo the best damn old school termi Inq's ever dreamed off
"Ole Peg-leg" nice
Your getting a nice collection by the way I enjoy checking in on this thread I see so many old mini I used to own before I traded/lost/hacked up/wife forced abandoned them.
Thanks but I do have two already - If you've got two the same I could swap you one? I thought they were gona be for your legion of damn? I have one who has a blow torch and another who as got a tiny bolt pistol and looks like he is checking the time...
So they do - well its a mystery to me I have not moved from my cosy cornish hideaway - how do they decide where you are from? It could be my IP but I wouldn't know squat about that...
Miss Dee wrote:Im a carier and have so many jobs to to, the washing, washing up ect I never get much time to paint, only in the night when the light is very poor.
so your a Night Lord or rather a Night Lady for real obviously not to be confused with the rather different Lady of the Night
Ah - you have exactly the same two I have! I couldn't possibly except them as I would only sell them - My ethical sub-processing unit flags that up as "wrong". If only I could disable that pesky ethics chip!
Lol to the cheek! I am painting space pirates but it is slow progress, my efforts to become fit and dig a quarter acre allotment, combined with my habit of spending the evening drunk, seems to interfere with the warhammer...
Naaah. But I did get some cool large senic base for them as they just dont look right on the little bases. Thanks for commenting, I love it when I get a new face!! I will check out your stuff if you post it!
Automatically Appended Next Post: I really should base the rest of my armies but you know how it goes with the time pressure
Just be warned she means that stuff about getting a new face. A small force of rapidly painted demons will sneak into your abode and remove your face, taking it back to her evil lair, where she will turn it into an android sculpture
HAHAHHA aHa ha HA AHAHAHAHAMWAHAHAh ahaha ha. Sorry I find writing that instead of just lol expresses my appreciation better. Yes I will be in Canada tonight with a scalpel and a horde of tiny demons!
I must paint something just to keep you guys talking
that is so cool and ancient looking...but one thing i have to say... the control panel looks a bit like a croissant to me... is there something that you could do about it?
I dunno? Think I did these as attachments straight from my files - it takes dakka a little while to assign them to my gallery I think.
The yellow is nice - but I feel they need more checkers and stuff. But I have other things I want to paint before I go back and make improvements - a whole bunch of traitor marines arrived today and there are inquisitors and gang members languishing in primer.
Anyone here ever tried archery? I'm really tempted to give it a go - bin watching to many robin hood movies I'm sure
i think for archery you need plenty of time... tried it once on a fair and i failed miserably...but with time and your own equip you can go a long way...and you probably should as well... archery should be trained in a real offside area...can be very dangerous for bystanders...(the unknown ones that try to walk where they deem fit...)
Well, regarding medium to short range weaponry, I can't much speak as my weapon of choice is a scoped air rifle (though in my defense, I did kill a squirrel with just a few seconds' prep, the wind in my feet, a quick targetting, and a quicker squeeze of the trigger). But yes, anything that goes out from oneself certainly needs to have safety of others ensured (though ensuring your own safety is a good idea too).
i like the idea of a longbow, or even a short bow , deffinately medieval or dark age , i really dont like the look of them gun bow things with optical sights etc, you see at the olympics. my kids have a rather large selection of homemade boys crossbows and toy ones , we go to the park and let loose some from time to time much fun to be had!
and i like to state here that i think it is cruel and totally unnecessary to shoot squirrels... this is no funpost here... it is clearly that doing so is a childish manner and i can only say i am sorry for thiose who think that hunting down small helpless animals is something remotely close to sports...
and we wanted to get a good old fashioned bow for a long time... to test it on a nonliving target...
Tried a bit of bow'n'arrer action when I was a youth (not seriously, just here and there) and it was good fun. As gits said, it requires time and decent equipment, just like so many of the things we like to do
I have got flat-bow, which is very similar to a longbow but flatter in section. I would love to find some where I can get some lessons - or faling that just a safe place to practice with targets and stuff.
I found the bow at a car boot sale for a tenner, unfortunatly he had sold all the arrows already - it is almost as tall as myself and has a 26 lb draw, which feels quite easy. It is made in england - reassuring. I'm sure they make great bows in china but I feel better with a good firm piece of british wood in my hands... .... Firm and smooth and springy.. Lulz.
do you use an armprotector?
someone told me you could slice your arm if it is not protected with something leathery...the sinew of the bow is like a very thin knife and if it comes back after being released then it could cut very well inside the fesh of your arm...maybe this is some kind of advice only for the unschooled but i think better to sound like old mum as being on the sore side...(me, father of three sons...)
Anyway, you're not allowed any more hobbies. What with all the ceramics and getting dirty in the allotment you're already neglecting your fans, can't have you spending more time away from the minis
Although I'm thinking there's a few more than before now as I've moved to an earlier shift time at work Once the clocks change I may even get home whilst there's still daylight to paint by You know, if I ever did any of that p-stuff.
Only slanesh can wear such garish contrasting colours and get away with it , they are the 40k Fashionistas darling. I bet Gok wan would have a field day with a bunch of these guys. They are the true bravest marines of all time , not even afraid of clashing colours
So far all the chaos I have painted are meant to be emperors children but I tend not to stick to the official paint scheme and just go crazy with clashing colours. Hopefully this says slaneesh to people. This one is fairly unmistakeable though as the mini was made to be slaneesh - great model this - I have some khorne to paint, world eaters? I think thats the name
These are v old - I was hoping to paint them slaneesh but looking at them they look nurgle so maybe thats how I should paint em. what does everyone think? I've already got ones which are khorne so a mixed force is inescapable. From 1988 and they say 'chaos warrior' on the base not chaos marine, which is odd.
I'm a bit short on them myself I'm afraid - to get enough backpacks for my metal rts I had to buy a squat o plastic rts and saw them up - worth it though for that authentic look!
Think you can get em for about a pound each online usually
love the backbacks of the old chaos marines... they are true gothic...wish i could have lots of them...
that slaanesh marine loks really good...i should start chaos as only with them you can use lich purple and the other non mainstream colors... that or nid...well...
And here is the start of a project I'm doing for a dakka convention
Automatically Appended Next Post: warning! The youtube vid may not be suitable for children who you are trying to shelter from the fact of the existence of boobs
OMG that chalice is so funny i really cant describe how weird i feel after seeing it, i dont think i have ever witnessed such a fine piece of pottery . good job Weety , and Monkey you dirty boy
I Liked showing things on video - it got 26 hits in the first hour or so - good for the first vid...? Hopefully I will be an internet sensation, but probs not.
It rrreally is a sexual chalice. Demonettes a plenty. Didn't really have an idea till I was halfway through and then ran with it. My studio was freezing but it seemed to help the creative process.
well for a man this work surley would have provided warmth through thoughts... sculpting at least the lower "parts"... but being a woman i don´t know if this particular warmth is ignited in you when sculpting breasts... depends on ones personal taste^^
well is that so much of a loss? i only bought me a couple of issues once and mostly i just leaf them through anyway... seldom anything worthwhile in it anymore... i read much bad comments and the comments also tend to say back in the days the WD was much better, which i can only asume as it is kind of a pricey advertisment paper of GW... i think they should do it for free as GW only uses to show new minis and not anything beyond...
Glad it arrived safe, would love to see some pics of it with your minis.
I have been slack recently, real life has just been too busy and interesting for much painting - but I have yet more oldschool traitor marines including one with a heavy plasma gun (bloody bargain 4 pounds including postage for 4 marines which have to be worth 25-30 quid to a serious collector) Also 1980s deamonettes and khorne demons! Very cool, I will post pics as soon as they are out of the stripper
Automatically Appended Next Post: Havn't read White Dwarf since 1996
Cool. The scale of the gate could have been just a tiny bit bigger but otherwise it looks good with the minis. Its hard to get that kind of thing perfect as the clay shrinks a bit when fired.
Here is a bulk mega pic of the "museum of rogue trader and necromunda minis" I suggest zooming in.
And finally I got me a space crusade dred! I'm afraid that he might end up being chopped up to make a sentinel
Yes the dread needs chopping as I always hated the model and only bought it because I like the legs and the big guns. If anyone wants its head let me know.
Reminds me - you still want that die-cast steam-roller monkey? I dont want it specially and you did send me those pickups
*cringes on thought of chopping up a spacecrusade dread...*
well here is hoping you do something about that crappy paintjon...i know you do that^^ ...and you have a cool concept for him...*sobs*
von dom - funnily enough my friend said the same thing! Think he has fond memories of that dred from childhood. But chop I must!
Monkey - send that too you soon! I really think the steamroller would make your grots smile.
Thanks enormously perkustin for posting that vid, hilarious! they actually got people to dress as space marines and genestealers! GWs first run-in with mainstream capitalism.
Sounds amusing - I will get on that as soon as I can!
The role-call of rogue trader awesomeness continues:
Automatically Appended Next Post: Hey miss dee you got any spare oldschool chaos backpacks I am like 3-4 short - we could do swapsies for rt marine backpacks if I win them
ha ha ha , i was just talking to bailey about that space crusade advert , i must show him it! i spent wa to many nights playing that game , i loved the docking boards that came with it and hated the nasty 3d board that always ripped and fell down. the stargate ring with those CSM look really good. and that bunch of RTCSM's look great too. those old space marine backpacks are fantastic , i have just enough my TSCSM forturnately .The nosie marine looks epic.
Been using my new sepia shade on these guys and trying out stronger highlights, seems to work if I concentrate hard enough. Thanks for the noise marine Gathering Storm it is a proper classic. Its one of those minis that I just had to own!
Cheers monkey. Oldschool is my aim. I think I achieved it in these two. If only everything worked out so well.
Weety, I'm digging the colors on the axe too. Is it a yellow base coat with a green wash?
Also really like the figure itself.
Sorry to hear that WD isn't available locally, Miss Dee. I guess we're among the few on Dakka that read it. I'm still trying to fill holes in my collection from where I let my subscription lapse. I'd buy it for the painting tips and terrain building tutorials alone. It's better though when they talk about some of the WHFB and WH40K armies that I or my peeps collect.
Weety, the mugs just keep better and better. I may order one from you once I'm settled in Germany around late summer.
"Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated"
Moved my Man into my flat to save him from his evil money sucking landlady and what with all the cuddling and DIY and romantic meals I have been neglecting my sci-fi love. But I did get some fun things in the post - and a new "nurgley" background cos my bloke tried to wash a painting and it went runny. (he likes warhammer too but was never a great painter, not obsessive compulsive enough)
The traitor marine is 1988 and the deamonettes are 1987. The horror is newer - 1999, but I love the model
I've got some really old khorne deamons too but they need gluing together before I show them off
I just thought you had fallen asleep at the wheel The deamonette on the left is just scary ! and well real life does have its pleasent moments of distraction. , and now the winter heating bill can be shared and halved at the same time ;-)
Gribblies galore!! You just wait till you see the khorne demons assembled.
Well I did 4 hours of pottery this morning and my distracting BF has gone to his nieces wedding so I finally had a chance to paint (in between getting drunk and betting on stupid horses which fall down). This is work in progress on my first two oldschool nurglites. I'm thinking of going for metalics to finish, with plenty of rust and verdigris (the green corrosion you get on bronze)
they will get finished soon - Right this minute between romance, gardening and frikkin work I have been slowly going catatonic making mugs for a dakka-con. There should be 12 but I only got as far as 9 today
you seem to do pretty well fighting a multi frontal war... even the roman emire or th french didn´t have to put up with so much different fields and yet you seem to be on top of it^^
well the mugs seem to be upside down but there you go^^
Cheers mu - I think thats why I love the old chaos marines - organic little works of sculpting art they are
These old chaos marines are my first true love - they make me happy... I still dont have them all though and they are like pokemon in that respect.
Better do some internet shopping... mmmm I want the thousand sons dude with the pharoah head dress and the wierd khorne moster guy with the auto-pistol.
Thanks - more corrosion would be nice. I might add extra corruption as time goes by - so as they are drwing closer to father nurgle they get more stinky
Never seen him before , where do you find em ? lovely model and nice gold edge highlighting , really like the green on this guy, suits the red very well.
this is the first bunnyeared Khrone marine that i feel attached to... he looks super cool! the facemask is the best marine helmet i have ever seen! this screams Sifi...^^
can anyone help me - I brought this covered in paint as an unknown model - now its stripped it makes me think 'Imperial pilot'. But Im not sure and the names is corroded away and iits date is 1989
