Towards the end of the Great Crusade, Horus assembled three Legions to take back the technologically advanced planet Arrigata from the separatists who controlled it; the The Sons of Horus, World Eaters, and Smurfs. Most of the planet was quickly conquered, except for the massive fortress within which most of the leaders of the planet cowered. Eager to be on his way, Horus commanded Angry Ron to take back the citadel and kill only the leaders.
Eagerly, Angron led the assault. However the fortress was heavily defended and the casualties were horrendous, a dozen World Eaters falling for a meter of land. Eventually, a ramp of corpses led up to a single breach in the wall, and the Marines plunged in. Filled with rage over their fallen brothers, they were merciless.
By the time the Smurfs arrived, the battle was all but over. The inside of the fortress was filled with the dismembered and mangled corpses of the defenders, for not one soul had been spared the vengeful fury of the World Eaters. It was a slaughter
On the 15th June at Warhammer World we planning to have the meet up.
It is a preheresy event, but I wont hold that against you xeno/2nd+ founding scum!
Kill points with bonus point for holding one the enter points of the wall
Scott - WE
Myself - WE
Matt - separatists (guard)
Still - SOB - (separatists feminist movement and refusing to follow a MALE (the Emperor) )
This will be a social gathering in which we pitch up and play! World Eater players will face off against the separatists as we playtest some Animosity "House Rules" and "Counts as" lists that we hope to include on future Scouring/Pre-Heresy era events, hence the name and fluff.
There are no competitions/prizes or campaign packs for this event, its just a social get together so bring along anything you wish to play and we'll all have a mix up! oh, and because of that, unlike our more conventional events, there are no tickets!

Just in case there nerf everything I painting

finally able to look at it! damn useless computers at home.
the pack looks great cant wait to play
I have to second marks point about Eldar codex overlap, if the new book comes out and destroys my army list i wont have time to get more stuff painted
18594
Post by: geordie09
If the new codex comes out and ruins your plans you, and anybody else who wishes, can use the old codex. You won't be able to use any new vehicles/characters or anything freshly released though so be careful dudes!
45221
Post by: llamafish
Hopefully the new codex wont ruin our armies, and we can use the new one
66349
Post by: vraksianrebel
yeah i have high hopes that the new codex will be entirely positive and the issue wont present itself,
my main concerns are going to be wraithguard no longer being able to be troops
and Eldrad is supposedly dead/missing now according to the fluff so will he be removed from the codex.
18594
Post by: geordie09
During the 13th Black Crusade he split his soul across a number of stones and its believed that after he was "killed" hes lived on in those stones... but if he aint in the new codex keep hold of the old anyway. Hes in the fluff for the campaign so if the codex writes him out just put him in with his old stats etc etc

Post by: bignickex
Scott quick question, for the ITF game are the standard ratios for things like heavy weapons relaxed? ie can i include a single heavy weapon terminator in my list?
18594
Post by: geordie09
The list will allow for that but the elements that are restricted stack.
So a Chaos Terminator with, a reaper autocannon for example, would take up one 2+ armour option and a single heavy slot. A second Terminator with a havey flamer would take up a second 2+ armour option and a single template option.
Within these two mini you have used
x2 2+ Armour
x1 Heavy
x1 Template
Basically i think from what you've asked the answer is yes anyway Nick.
59755
Post by: bignickex
Cool but don't forget they also use up the AP weapon as well but they would be fun to use though!
18594

A lightbox will help immeasurably. Check out this link for some great guidance on macro photography:
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/macro-photography-intro.htm
A bog standard £50 digital camera should be more than sufficient to get some decent pics (just make sure it has a macro function).
Hope that's useful!
59755
Post by: bignickex
Thanks for the link, it's the best macro tutorial I’ve seen.
Now if I manage to find any extra time in between painting zombies and cultists I'll try and make a light box.

Post by: geordie09
Building my Flesh Tearers, can't decide whether to go with a Terminator Raclusiarch or a power Armoured reclusiarch... its an extra bod in the Crusader if I go PA, thats the only advatage I can see for the PA option but its a big deal as it will be one of the power weapon cc forerunners in the unit. 10 are set in stone bolter guys...
Anybody who brings a light box to the next event will get a big kiss by the way!

Nice work with the Zombies Scott.
I’m off to WHW today for a spot of play testing Death Guard army list options for the “Hive of the dead”.
I want to see which works best out of the following;
Typhus vs the much cheaper Chaos Lord with MON
7 vs 14 man Plague Marine squads
2 x 21 Zombies squads vs 35 man Chaos cultists with MON
The Helldrake is definitely in as is at least 1 Defiler
18594
Post by: geordie09
I'd guess the only advantage to a Lord with MON would be the cost as it seems like Typhus has some Gucci options and powers.
Let me know how you got on Nick. You'll get an opportunity to use Typhus at some point even if you choose not to lead your army with him.
59755
Post by: bignickex
Well, the play testing was a bit of a mixed bag really.
Typhus was a beast in combat despite rolling a 1 in his second round of combat with his Daemon weapon, gakker! That combined with his magic kill off 6 of 10 assault Terminators for the loss of 2 wounds, before he was backed up by a squad of Plague Marines.
The Lord had a quiet game, he was in with the 30 man squad of cultists who spent the whole game camped on an objective in cover. His random warlord trait did however go along way towards winning the game for me by enabling me to infiltrate 3 squads directly on to objectives.
As for the zombie vs cultists dilemma I’m still undecided, in the first game I ran 2 squads of 21 zombies. By using cover they were very resilient with a 4+ cover and then a 5+ FNP save against most of the shooting the lasted ages and were ridiculously cheap.
The cultists on the other hand I ran as a squad of 30 with MON, 3 flamers and a mix of 10 Auto guns and the rest with CCW’s, accompanied by the Chaos Lord. This did work really well they were surprisingly shooty and when made fearless by the lord stayed put despite being shot at every turn.
Here are the 2 lists I ran today both won comfortably and were fun to play;
1500 points
Typhus
Hellbrute, MM
7 x Plague Marines, Power weapon, 2 x Melta guns
7 x Plague Marines, Power weapon, 2 x Melta guns
21 x Zombies
21 x Zombies
Helldrake, Bale flamer
Defiler, Havoc launcher
Defiler, Havoc launcher
List 2 1500 points
Chaos Lord, MON, Black mace, 5+ inv
14 x Plague Marines, Power weapon, 2 x Melta guns, Icon of despair
14 x Plague Marines, Power weapon, 2 x Melta guns , Icon of despair
30 x Chaos cultists, MON, 3 x flamers, 10 autoguns
Helldrake, Bale flamer
Defiler, Havoc launcher

Are you on the Animosity forum Jon?

There are a few people toying with the idea of fantasy and starting some beginner events so they can learn low level point games together and move on from there.
Also, don't worry about your ticket delay dude, you're one of my solid dudes who I can rely on. Please bring the tunnel thing it will help me to sort a plan.
@The Farseer - As things stand we've got four Eldar in the faction, which is a pretty solid base line. One more Marine will make a 4 player asartes faction, that already figuring Jon's Crimson fists into the task force. The other races are looking at a player each at the moment but will increase over the next week or two no doubt.

Mikey uses Halford Grey Primer for his stuff... I've used it for undercoating the underhive but haven't ventured into undercoating a miniature with it yet, but it works otherwise Mikey wouldn't use it!

Yes. Basically for players who can't get 3k together. If there are any double teams they will likely play vs a 3k single player as well.

Right, zombie miniatures ordered - I've bought a "Bag O' Zombies" off eBay so I'll get painting once I'm back home from Scotland. They are 20mm scale but should look on once based up. You can see how the Zonbie model looks against a Marine and a muscular guardsman here:

Right chaps... this week I finalise narratives, which as ever means that if you are planning on attending and have not bought your ticket yet you need to hurry. Its not that you can't still get a ticket and join us, it just means that any potential storyline for your army to play through is limited due to time constraints. With this in mind I ask all who want to come and are yet to purchase to let me know as soon as you do... this way I can make the adjustments as I go.
Thanks dudes.

Which one do you use, the large standard grey primer @ £7.49 or the smaller plastic grey primer @ £6.49?
The larger is much better value for money but is it safe to use on my miniatures?

Well that was a bloody affair!
The Chaos hoard suffered at the hands of the Imperial gun line, loosing my Hellhammer in the first turn of the game before it had fired a shot was gutting. However the shear joy of watching the Plague tower soak up several turns of army wide shooting before he gave up was really something.
A close run game, called after 5 turns as a draw. Automatically Appended Next Post: Turn 3 was an epic, 66 terminators, 3 landspeeders and 2 drop pod dreads arrived ouch!

Yep, it took a lot longer than I'd hoped and it was a shame to have to call it before a victor had emerged but a draw was fitting end for all the carnage.
Sam had an entire Salamanders Battle company, Predator assassin squadron( who's new D weapon rule was nasty) plus 30 terminators, 20 scouts, 10 Stern guard vets and a tone of supporting tanks. Supported by the Dark angles 36 Deathwing, 2 Raven wing bike squads, 3 Drop pod Tactical squads and 5 Dreads Led by Azrail and the command squad from hell. He was able to put a world of pain down with a tone of fire power and tasty combat ability. The supporting fire rule he gained form his formation was tough as well.

Cool, in that case I'll distribute my work-in-progress Squat Codex once I'm near a computer again - probably early next week I reckon.
The main thing that is needed is some top-quality fiction pieces and some unit descriptions. Most of the units are complete in terms of stats, special rules and wargear, but one thing I have very consciously avoided is any points-costing as yet.
Once I've emailed around the 'skeleton' document I'd like to structure the development so that we complete one unit at a time (perhaps one unit a week?), rather than going at it piecemeal. I think that way we will end up with a working, cohesive army book in a relatively short period of time!

Ok, I'm back from my holidays now and ready to distribute the latest draft of my Codex: Squat Stronghold to those who are keen to help get it finished.
If you do want to help out, please PM me your email address and I'll email out a copy (as a PDF) to you. I'll give everyone a day or so to say whether they want to help, and then I'll send one email, containing the PDF document, to everyone.
In the meantime, I will annotate the document, stating on each page exactly what needs to be done to finish each page off.
As I mentioned before, I suggest that we should finish off one unit at a time. Therefore, once everyone has had a few days to have a good read through the whole PDF document and collect their own thoughts, I will post up the first unit to be worked on. When the first unit is posted up, anyone with any suggestions can post their thoughts on the forum for group discussion. I will then update the master document based on the group's consensus decision.
Once the codex 'as it stands now' is finished, I'm more than willing to add extra units to it, but is like to finish off what is there first, before giving ourselves even more work to do!
Cheers,
GS.

You might be required to bring a little bit of terrain/fortification that suit your race
Dont worry - the Adeptus Mechanicus have fired up the forgeworld and are making some fortification (or more commonly know as Vrakianrebel, Meldon and myself "working" hard to create terrain)

We've been very quiet on Dakka recently, but the event on the 8th and 9th is still taking place. Numbers are good so if you want to get on board time is ticking.
We're still doing all our regular competitions and the theme has attracted ALOT of Eldar so far... if you want to kill Space Fairies this is the event to attend!

First Animosity update in a while... we've been getting along quite nicely with our own forum for those wishing to attend our games or just get involved with the chit chat and I've let the dakka thread slip a lot.
We've got two event coming up in the summer at Slayer Gaming, the first Animosity - The Ramde Insurrection, on the 21st and 22nd of June is a 40k narrative campaign weekend. Our second will be the first foray for, Animosity - In the Old World! On August the 16th and 17th we play our first narrative campaign using the Warhammer Fantasy Battle gaming system! I'm building a very Slayer filled Dwarf army that will fight out of Karak Kadrin.
Our venue, Slayer Gaming, are launching their loyalty card scheme this week and players buying their Animosity ticket will get double points for the ticket and double points for anything they purchase from Slayer over the weekend of the Ramde insurrection.
Our June event is sponsored by Lil Legend and Bitz Box and we'll have our regular competitions and prizes.
We look forward to seeing you there.
