I'm sorry to that I'm sadly going to have to pull out; as I'm putting a charity gig on in December and I can't tell you how much energy's going in to that.
Spoiler:
A friend of a friend has been given weeks to live, having battled severe lymphoblastic leukemia for 3 years. He's had multiple courses of treatment and 2 courses of radio therapy that have only succeeded in lowering his immune system so much that he's now battling secondary infections on top of the cancer, which is now making its way up his neck and to his brain. It's looking as though he won't see Christmas, so some friends and I are organising fund raisers for any last ditch treatment that might be available, or alternatively for his family to with as they see fit if we're too late.
If any one's interested in coming down for the gig I have a facebook page running for this at www.facebook.com/fortheloveofray where you can keep updated with event details.
Geordie, apologies for the thread hijack, just wanted to explain my reason for not making this one. Apologies again and I hope it goes well for you all
Sorry yes the special ammo they don't get. It says sgt may replace his bolt gun with:
It doesn't say with one of the following as it does in other areas. This makes sense as if he replaced his bolt gun with a combi weapon he wouldn't have a gun to affix the combi to! So as far as I can see it is legal to replace the bolter with a storm bolter (10 pts) and add a combi flamer (10 pts) as it doesn't say only one of the options as a replacement for the bolter.
Automatically Appended Next Post: What's more the librarian is modelled with a storm bolter and a combi plasma and the wording is identical.
A storm bolter with an attached combi plasma. It's the finecast librarian in terminator armour. The codex states he can have one and the wording is identical to the LoD sgt entry.
I know in other entries it states can have one of the following but not this one.
Heres a pic of my Imperial Fists that was taken some months ago... this picture made me realise that I wasn't too far from having a complete company and encouraged me to push a little further in my collection of banana marines!
Also it is a normal bolter, with a combi plasma attached I recently brought the mini for my gf, and was surprised to find it in there , as an option they included, was a nice surprise
Also Geordie I have been told the team will be working on the prize model towards the end of the month, I will post up any WIP on here and on the blog! As well as the finished article of course

I look forward to seeing a full company! Massive undertaking, but you have the scheme down to a tee, and you're nearly there

I'm afraid not dude, the cost attached to the event is to pay for the mandatory buffet requirement for a booking of this type. If id had the choice i would have made entry a few quid and said bring your own food, but hey-ho. With that in mind tickets need to be purchased before hand so they know how many people they are catering for!
Just got my ticket for the event, can't wait now that the wife has agreed to look after the kids for the weekend but God knows what that will end up costing me.
Now i need to decide weather to bring CSM's or Ork's.

I think this is a commendable effort!
I'll be sending tickets via emails dude, a week before the event in December (I hope you didn't pay for postage?)
I've seen a sneak peak of Sar Mikaels Emperors Children, they are also looking pretty sweet!
Feel free to post up more pics of what your bringing to the event chaps, and don't forget to buy your tickets as soon as possible... I know, blah blah, yawn!
Hey dudes, don't forget, as well as the upcoming Discordia Campaign, and March 2013's Age of the Emperor Event, we also have the ZomAid Charity thing going on... it will culminate in next July's Animosity - In the Novacastrian Hegemony Campaign Weekend.
To see how thw zombie infection spreads, go to our ZombAid thread...

Thats great news dude, glad to have another recruit for the discordia Campaign!
If it helps you to make a choice, in the March 2013 event in which we will playout the Ullanor Campaign as the Warmaster rises to prominence, we'll need a lot of Orks...

Thats a sweet list, you can't go wrong with the waz, and having used two dakka jets myself in a game vs Sar Mikaels Dark Angels the last time we played i fully endorse their use (Plus, if you attend in March they'll be prominent in our all flyers/skimmers game).
Thanks. A lot of the win was down to the librarians null zone forcing re roll of invun rolls in the demons. The contemptors kheres assault cannon (which is awesome!) and the Storm Talon sky hammer missiles!
Had a great game with Sar Mikael and his Emperors Children this morning. Play tested some of the potentially available Imperial Merc's during the game (The Eversor Assassin is particularly tasty... the Hellbrute certainly though so too. mmm, bbq eversor)
Whether they'll be available is still in the air as the points required to hire them were based on larger task forces than what we'll probably end up with!
If you haven't already, let me know what forces your bringing so I can fold the sotry around your particular race.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something, mmm something to do with buying someting NOW... rickets? pickets? crickets? ah wait no... TICKETS!
Heads up, Wayland Games has got 25% off supper heavy's. Sods law as i've just blown all my spare cash on a pair of Dakka jets! but it might help some one.

@ Geordie do I need to split my Apoc force down to 4K am I ok to leave my large list as it is?
If you make up a 4k list as well then we can't go wrong dude. So far it definitely looks like the majority of players will be playing larger than 4k games but if we all have set 4k lists just in case then both eventualities are covered.

Things are looking up this week chaps... got a few more players on board and I'm feeling positive. I hope my good mood survives contact with the Newcastle vs Swansea game on Saturday!
There has been progress made on a number of little projects required to help represent the narratives on the gaming board too. I hope I get everything done in time...
Apologies for the poor quaility of the photos but this is the Eldar I'm bringing. Ran out of space for the Dark Eldar allies. A lot of painting and repairing to do.
After looking at all those Eldar i'm glad my Dakka Jets have been delivered i think i'm going to need the fire power. All I need to do is get them assembled and painted in time.
I've considered that in the past... football is the most frustrating and painful thing in my life so those considerations are quickly banished, why would I want to ruin my gaming by incorporating it is usually the conclusion I come too. Did name my Imperial Guard the Novacastrian IXth Regiment though. Didn't go black and white, which is probably a good thing!
NEWS - The recruitment drive continues, spread the word dudes as the more people we manage to get to the event the better it will be. Its much easier said than done, I am walking the boulevard of broken promises on a regular basis. I never imagined this would be so stressful...

I figured I wanted them to look old rather than spooky like GW ones. The open bones on shoulder pads will have some red, sore and raw pink hues in there too. Should add to the effect.
Automatically Appended Next Post: The bases are coming on too, so impressed with them, £5 well spent!
I read the Legion of the Damned Space Marine Battle book and i've made a few up but not painted at all yet. Have bee trying to source a cheap SgtCenturius for over two years now... its not happening!
I made a version for my pre-heresy World Eaters though so I may do the same again and push them forward. Whether to do them old or spooky has been the main issue that they aren't painted. I thought spookier to begin with, like the ghosts from LotR's but felt it was a bit basic and not very Mariney...

Should have a defernate answer on my time away and wether i can attend by wednesday, which is good news. But just wanted to see the trouble Maelstrom Games Ltd are in will effect the venue/event?
Just read this here http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.co.uk/
No Ryan, its all sweet as far as I'm concerned. The venue made a break away from the Maelstrom Company and is a firm in its own right now.
Obviously there is going to be a bit of a reputation hangover but it only effects us because some potential players still think its Maelstrom and won't give it a chance.
So far, all is well...
I hope its good news dude, it'll be a better weekend for your participation!

Can i take a moment to thank those people on dakka, who've contributed to the thread or simply viewed it. Unlike other forums, "ahem, warseer" nobody has felt the need to stick the knife in, or accuse me and the Animosity event of being in cahoots with some dude whos sent Maelstrom down the pan! It seems the haters continue to hate... everybody! Whether they've a reason or not. Its quite silly.
There have been some dissapointing times organising this, our first event, but thankfully none of them have been perpetrated by the people who read and post on this thread! For that, thank you.
Hope your game goes okay kantor... I'm gona need some mega 6th edition practise if im to squeeze a game into 40 minutes on day one!

bignickex wrote: I'm really looking forward to this event - Me too!
Do we have an idea of the numbers who have signed up yet? - As things developed over the months, going back to March when I started to plan things, we had 35 players signed up at one stage and looked like maybe more. Unfortunately a great deal of that was hot air, some having no intention of coming, some having the obscure aspects of life kick them in the balls and some just disappearing into, oh I don't know, the Eye of Terror (a***holes). At the minute we could definitely do with some more players but if they don't materialize we will still have enough players to make the story threads cool and I can assure you that nobody will play the same faction twice (unless the story lends itself towards it) or indeed the same player!
Hopefully this will inspire further recruitment rather than deter people who are looking in from the outside! It will be good, and the more players that attend the better it will be!
Just finished my Storm Raven this morning, got a lot to do to make sure everything is sorted for the Campaign so I may not get a full battle company together in time! Will still have plenty of yellow to hammer the enemy though!
Just go hold of some old style las cannons from an old land raider, probably 15 year old and as good as new! Gonna use them for my talon, scratch building tonight!
This one's for you and the animosity goers. Nuke began work on the prize mini today, decided stock miniature is not prizey or display enough. And has decided to work an an awesome display diorama, starring an Imperial Fist and an unfortunate Daemon Prince. Strictly WIP of course, this is just a mock up of the pose, green stuff work to come! I believe the idea of painting some yellow for a change has gone to Nuke's head

Just wanted to drop in and say all the best with the tourna- *ahem* I mean narrative campaign weekend, of course. Judging from what I've seen and read on this thread, I'm sure the participants/victims (delete as applicable) will ensure it's a memorable event!
It sounds like everyone who is going to be involved is well up for it and I'm gutted that I wasn't able to sign up (my 11th legion were not amused, although I suspect that has a lot to do with the fact that they are, for the most part, lying in dismembered sections on the chopping board, awaiting reassembly).
Your banana army is looking pretty dang awesome, and I'm liking the orks and Eldar I've seen so far. And Nukearts look like they've got something going there...
I'm gonna try and spread the word to some mates and a couple of clubs, in order to recruit more cannon fodder for your weekend of extreme friendliness to xeno filth...
Its imperative that we know who (and what army they are bringing) is coming to the event in order to make the narrative elements thoroughly encompassing! If folk leave it too late to buy their ticket then it risks the day being a bit shambolic!
Automatically Appended Next Post: For those not in the know, our painting competition winner will be taking this professionally created/painted custom miniature home with them!
Good luck dudes...
I sooo want to win that, good job I've got 2 weeks to get Asurmen painted. Is it 1 model into the competition or can we submit a unit?
For Conversions its single minature, but to win that bad boy in the painting competition it is anything you like as long as it aint a super heavy... so single minis vs units vs vehicles if thats what people choose to submit!
Does anybody think it would be inapproproate for me to enter, as its a vote by those in attendance I can't influence nor fiddle the results...
@Kantor - They were originally going to make it the standard Crimson Fist 25th Anniversary paint job, which would have been right up your street I guess. They decided to go with an Imperial Fists livery as Nuke is sick of painting blues...
@Farseer - got your list dude, thank you. Great job, tasty forces!
@Everybody else - Please get your tickets as soon as you can, and get your friends to join us!
I'm not comin for the trophy just the recognition and the gaming. I have ha a run of victories that haven't been broken in 5 games against various foes with points up to 3000 so I'm arriving confident!
As Nuke http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/nukesarts progresses our awesome (i told you didn't I) [ainting competition first prize, don't forget we also have some other competitions running over the weekend. Our Conversion COmpetition, sponsored by Bitz Box http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/ and the Snake Eyes Award (new name), for the most outstanding and crazy tale of miniature heroism over the weekend. The Maunsfeld Man of the Match Award is now the award to reward the most sporting of players across the weekend.
I'll recap all of this on Saturday morning when we go through the registration process though.
What size board is game 1? I played a kill team game the other day on a 4' by 4' board rammed with buildings. Looked like a small section of a city scape.
Its 40" x 40" but depending upon which planet you are deployed to will determine the amount of terrain etc.
There are some subtle differences in our kill team to the Battle Missions kill team, mainly, units maintain coherency and there are no univeral special rules dished out. Also, depending upon the narrative you are involved in will determine what the victory conditions are, that goes for every mission that though!
Quick question regarding game 2 defensive force. Can we take any other fortifications in addition to the bastion. I've planned to take 2 defensive lines. I found out tonight that you can only take one on a force organisation chart. Do I need to amend my list? Can I field as much fortifications as I want for the apoc game?
Game 2 you can field whatever you wish in the 300 points. Apoc is unlimited force org as long as you have your 1500 points list and 4 troop choices as a minimum.
Nice one Kantor, it looks good with the old school Las canons.
I've just finished off my second Dakka jet, i'll try and get some pic's up. I'm looking forward to some fighta ace air duelling soon.
At the moment it seems like the majority of people will be fielding more than 4k so the chances of utilising everything you have, or near enough at least, are quite high! Which I think is a good thing too and will make for some cracking showdowns on the Sunday!
I finally feel like I'm making progress with the final preparations... Just need a boat load of paper mach to finish, some spraying, some flocking and a few things printing and laminating! May still run out of time though, a few dudes need painting too actually... I'm sure something else will no doubt crop up.
I've beginning to get a bit sick of asking people now! Organising this has been one of the most stressful things ive had to do, and i have a pretty intense job!
Automatically Appended Next Post: What really grinds my gears is the ignorance of some people! They have no idea hoe much effort i've put into this, i just hope that those of you who've had faith enough to buy tickets can see some of it in the way things play out! Ive done a hell of a lot of work spreading the word, inviting people and chasing up leads to drum up support, i think i've got a 1 in 300 succeSs rate!
Automatically Appended Next Post: While i'm spouting off, if anybody tries to cadge onto a game or hassle for a match tell them to do one!
Dude, if you need some help with things let me know. I could do some of the printing and laminating for you to take some of the pressure off, if that would help.
Just a thought for you Geordie, but if you're struggling to get non imperials in why not have a back up "virus" that makes an imperial force fight for "xxxxx"?
If they were to be fighting for a (for instance) DE storyline, they could be brain washed arena combatants, driven mad by the insanity that is commoragh.
If fighting for an orc based storyline, they might have been tinkered with by the lcoal mad doc or something?
Sorry again that I can't make it man. Running this gig has made me realise how much work you must have put in to your weekend. It's hard man, it'll be damn well worth it though
Thats kind of you nick but its an option that i can't take! I've figured out certain allegiance changes etc that fit fluff of 40k and whilst ive got the end game figured out, its balance in the opening salvo matches that really need us to gain two more players! If you know anybody well enough to get to sign up who may have been put off by size of apoc games or not have a useable force of their own i guess thats an option!
Hey chaps! The voxnetradio forum has gone live! There's very little traffic there at the moment but here a link to the home page where you can get access and begin to make things happen for them! they've been staunch supporters of the Campaign so far and will be in the future (if we manage to have one), so lets see if we can't give them a helping hand?
I’ve not seen the new dog fight rules yet, I guess i’ll have to dig deep and get yet another 40K expansion book.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh Man! I’ve just read through the pack for AOTE in March. Very cool, I need to start sweet talking my girlfriend. Keep up the good work Geordie.
I'm looking forward to it too, It'll give me a chance to use my Orks! I've chosen Ullanor for that very reason and whilst it does disclude a lot of forces i'm hoping that it will still be well represented! There are a lot of Ork players out there and its not just for the Pre-Heresy Legions... there are options for Imperial Army (Guard) and Mechanicum forces too!
Don't you worry Kantor! You can use my Imperial Fists if you want to come! I've got the heresy era stuff in progress and they will be led by Sigismund as well as the chaps who went on to found the Crimson Fists!
We can have a chat about it next weekend. You've jumped on board and supported the first Animosity Event without hesitation... it'd be a shame for you to miss the second! (fingers crossed the first goes well enough to justify a second!)
And I'll be living in Leeds from January so you'll be able to see them to make your own list, rather than me forcing a list on you!
Automatically Appended Next Post: You can do your own Dorn though, wouldn't want to deprive anybody the pleasure of creating and painting their own Primarch!
There’s a whole lot of love kicking about here now. It’s good to see you a little less stressed, are you starting to see light at the end of the tunnel?
I jumped on board for a few reasons. Firstly it looked like fun. Secondly it was cheaper than the overpriced GW events. Their January doubles event at £92 is ott. Thirdly this is my first tourney and I wanted it to be with a painted army, which I have now got.
I started 40k last year again after 15 years away from it with de. I just couldn't get in to them properly though so I had the chance of a load of marines that needed some tlc. Most of my
Force is second hand repaints.
I probably will be up for the next event. I am interested in running my own based on the new campaign so I am interested to see how it all works.
As for the love in, its important to let you guys, who've bought tickets and contributed to the dakka thread etc, know that i apprecite the faith and support! Without it it would have been an even more difficult task.
It’s going to be great, unless the dice gods curse me that is. If they do then i’ll do what Orks do best “Die in large numbers and make a lot of noise doing so”
Really can't wait for next weekend, Eldrad is consulting his runes for the most favourable outcome for the might of the Eldar preparing to enter the webway
One week to go and my paint station is a right mess and I’ve still so much to do. I have managed to add 3 Bikers, a squad of 4 MANZ and a truck to the Ork hoard though. I wish the were to the same standard as the Nuke arts team, I can but dream.

Just finishing off some models for the weekend campaign with Matt last night, and he pointed out we only got 3 mths to sort out our PH armies. What rules sets are we going to accept? Betrayal and TF rules sets?
I think TF for the majority but if you own Betrayal I think that the TF chaps are making it so that its a level playing field if facing Betrayal forces!
I'm still waiting to see what actually rolls out of the index astartes section as the basic downloadable rule for tac squads etc are there just no legion specifics!
Yeah really could do with the Legion stuff as it slightly awkward/paranoid to start making list that might not want to run once the rules are published!

Hope everything goes swimmingly for you Geordie, it's took a lot of effort on your part to organize but make sure you enjoy the event too!
Thanks dudes! Just been down to the venue and arranged the tables and stuff! On way home to get ready for some late night hobbit action then an early start int mornin!
Got a DHL note when i got in this afternoon! I was severely delayed getting back from newcastle! Im pretty confident it was our painting prize! Tried to sort new delivery etc but no joy!
Considering where it came from though its been a speedy delivery! Thanks agin to nuke who've been really good!

I'm not sure kantor! I'll do my best to get you that info as early as poss! We'll be there from 830 so if you get there with time to spare then we'll try to help you get checked in before game start!
Its seems yes, no trophy but the winner will still get it as soon as poss!
i've just done the final tally my total painted force is 7959 points. I look forward to meeting you all tomorrow, I'll be the one with a car full of Orks!
Day one DONE! Thibk its gone well, and everybody who i believed to be coming over the last few days, came! Which is excellent! Thanks everybody for making day one work! I'll update with battle reports and results after tomorrows apocalypse!
Start at 9 but get there early! S we can all get started.
What a laugh today was, had some good battles and only lost one!!!!
Bloody knees ache now, shower and kip me thinks.

Well I have to say I had an amazing time today, it was great fun and really nice to play with very much like minded players.
Looking forward to tomorrows stupidity just spent the last half hour trying to stack tanks into a bag lol.
More tanks? Is this possible? Well after having my arse handed to me for the first two games it was nice to scrape a win in the 3rd and a draw in the 4th. Looking forward to the mayhem in the apoc game tomorrow, so many daemon princes!
So we've left Discordia, and the fuzz ball natives of the Forest Moon of Rendor behind (They're a nasty bunch, they'll be dancing round their camp fires and using Space Marine and Grey Knight helmets as drums by now!).
Well done to our winners. I'll be posting more details tomorrow, and thanks to all who came. Weekends like this are made for the gamers, but the gamers more often as not make the weekend!
I've just had funny looks because i burst out laughing when i saw this... I F**~#%$G hate those furry little F@%*!RS... Nearly half my force is now part of a fur ball on that planet!!!
Cheers for a cracking weekend buddy!!! Had a right laugh, can't wait for the next one.

Funny you should say that as I have a relic contemptor that would agree, especially after being hit from either side by tree trunks! @&£&@&g fur balls!
Awesome weekend, really enjoyed meeting and playing you all. I am looking forward to March. Especially after teaching Slaanesh super heavies not to mess with fire dragons
Thanks for a quality weekends gaming. Some of my personal highlights were;
An Ork Nob brought down a bastion with his Power Klaw killing half of the occupants and opening up a warprift.
The TH/SS Terminator who Death or gloried my Death rolla Battle wagon, he laughed off 5 S10 hits and pounded my wagon to bits.
And my favourite was when the combined fire of a squad of Lootas and a Dakka jet killed an Eldar Titan!
I can’t wait for the next event.
Ewoks Killing ratlings and necrons
Some mental Ork Nob finishing off my A Mech Facility with his fist....
Pedro Kantor taking a Leman Russ shell to the Face (oddly he stopped breathing shorty afterwards...)
Showing the RavenWing and DeathWing of the DA not to mess with the might of the IG tank line, soo many dead and dying units, it was joyful!
(oh, killing some space marine vampires that weren't invited to the party)
Cant wait for March, to battle against familiar faces and hopeful for some new ones!
Brilliant weekend and great group of guys to meet.
Thanks so much to Scot for sorting out the stressful side of it all so we could have such a great time.
Really looking forward to the weekend in march now (just gotta paint a gak load of orks lol)
highlights for me
Commisar lord surviving a round of duelling against belial (sp?)
the screams of hatred at the little furry bastards lol the sight of all those models set up for the apop game
Only bad point of the weekend for me being i was having so much fun i forgot to take more photos lol

Pah, Crimson Fists will always be the second sons (even thought you won!) Vladimir Pugh went head to head with the Stompa up our end and pummelled it to bits with his double power fists! He must have taken his eye of the ball though when he heard somebody at the back of the room compliment him on how well painted he was, as he didn't duck the shrapnel from the apocalyptic explosion he caused and died... horribly!

People came, yay. Thank you!
Seeing all the cool armies folks brought to the Discordia System (It looked like a game of Epic from the table ends), awesome!
Smashing things with my Imperial Fists (usually just Sar Mikael but this time a few other folk too).
Lowlight...
Sitting on the A617 on sunday morning behind some ridiculous police escorted farm equipment! Only an hour or so late!
Thanks again guys for coming and for the positive comments!

I personally think the fuzzy critters should be a regular fixture... (or similar )
Hummmm i now see how the guard can still keep fighting they have a twisted way of viewing the world, they had 3 rounds of shooting wiping out some tanks and wounding dreads killing sammel but only killed a total of 23 termy of the 60 i fielded the rest were in their lines it was just a matter of time.
Highlights for the DA
1) Well a cheeky deff roller tried running over a squad of termys with an epic fail with no wounds scored
2) A terminator sergent with a storm shield putting Typhus to sleep in a challenge (with the aid of Typhus deamonweapon and a perils of the warp, Typhus didnt have the best day to be honest.)
but they do say the EMPEROR PROTECTS.
3) Watching a titan go down to a squad of termys who deep struck in cycloned it took the full force of its fire power then proceeded to clip its toe nails which broke it.
low points
1) watching Belial fail to kill a comissar lord in a challenge with his thunder hammer.
2) watching my heroic charge at the Tau held objective with Two thunder hammer terminators (one was an apoth) come to nothing as they were taken down by a single squad of fire warriors,
3) watching my poor def roller/ titan hunting uber termy, get atomized by some D cannon weilding super heavy ( he was next on his list right enough )
But what can i say about the week end .......a class, epic way to spend my time and to all those that didnt make it well it was trully your loss, not ours.
ill miss the next one as im out of the country with work but will def be at the one after.
great job Scotty a great effort for a first go now you just have to try to improve it which wont be easy
Oh yes im still sorry about pedro.
Id also like to thank Tim from Maunsfield Games for his friendly help and assistance during the weekend and use of the great facility that we will hopfuly continue to use for these narative campains.
i am sure the shadowsword would have dealt with the rest of the terminators in short order lol,
what was that land raider variant you were using by the way i forgot what it was called?
shame your not around for the next game mate, hopefully see you at the 3rd event (whenever that is, has it been anounced yet?)
One little thing, i was just looking round the eye of the storm forum seeing if there were any other events worth going to and noticed that the weekend at the end of march is booked up completely for their 40k doubles tournament???

I'll have a word with Tim about that, i hope its just a little error and nothing too calamitous
Well done everyone this is awesome feedback, sounds like it turned out to be an amazing weekend, told you it would be epic ;-)
Now for March, let's see if we can make it bigger,
If anyone has anything they want to shout out or such jump over to VoxNet radio and let us know, we're getting Scott to do a solo cast about it and we would love to mention it all in the main cast... Scott just doesn't know about it yet mwahahaha ;-)

Cool! Two that will use ready made codex' and one thats due out real soon if the rumours are to be believed... I wonder if somebody's had a sneaky insight?
I've confirmed with Tim, their is no clash with their 40k doubles weekend so the next Animosity Campaign Weekend, Animosity - In the Age of the Emperor, will take place on the 30th and 31st of March!
I'll work on the campaign pack over the Christmas period and hopefully have a decent/finalised pack ready for the new year!
Some thoughts for improving on the weekend...
If you guys can help me out with some feedback to the following that would be much appreciated!
1 - i'm considering making the flyer game 1000 pts, 50 percent of which must be flyer/skimmer/jetbike/jump and 50 percent regular force org... May be better for players? Will be an extremely long table though and, much like an apocalypse game, all in!
2 - would you prefer a large apocalypse game, starting saturday and continuing into sunday, or smaller games and an apocalypse, with more structure than the discordia confusion, on the sunday! (Maybe set up saturday evening or even started) There will definitely need to be a strict turn time limit next time too to ensure we rattle through! Or just a large game, 3 to 4k max?
3 - i've got no problem with people using counts as codex' for their force, eg grey knights for custodes, sisters for sister of silence, blood angels for world eaters etc! Since tempus fugitves have produced and are producing rules for the legions i'd hope evrybody could download it and use that though, has anybody got any strong feelings about this issue? Doesn't bother me like, I'll be playing as orks either way.
Have a think anyway dudes, the weekends will be even better if folk can help me develop them like this and iron out some of the logistical issues!
The flyer game i think will be fine as it is, if you want it to keep as fast paced there is no point in including regular force org charts as it will just slow things down, i think it would work just as well if you allow a few tanks/ground based anti air and the rest still has to be flyers skimmers etc.
As to the larger apocalypse game the big concern would be the turns times, obviously we need to get through the game and make sure everyone has fun, but at the same time if you stricly limit the turn time you will be proving the marine forces with a massive advantage.
The marines being a small elite based army you can construct and 3k army with only a couple of tanks full of stuff whereas to build and ork army even if trying to keep the model numbers down is still going to consist of a massive increase in the number of models on the table

Automatically Appended Next Post: I think as long as we are in a place ready to kick off on the sunday morning we won't need to time it! I found personally that on our table we were really playing three seperate games dye to the game speed up the line! It meant there was little communication and instead of being a communal game it was three games in one! I'd like to try to remedy that next time. Was the other table affected similarly?
Maybe max timing the phases would be a better idea. 30 minute limit, but provided the table is ready you can move on to the next phase when there is a consensus? Starting the timer again at the start of the next phase? Hopefully keeping the line together!
Again tho that would be massive disadvantage to larger armies. Marines can do everything in half an hour with time to spare whereas the orks would end up only being able to move half the army let alone shooting and cc phases in under 30mins
I’ve been thinking about the game, it would be good if we could include rules to allow jump troops to assault flyers and I really like the idea of scattered Ork anti air emplacements. How much fun could you have with an Ork-tress of redemption full of Lootas!!!
Well, we'll just scrap timing in that case as you've got a point when in comes to the massed infantry forces. I'll stick to preparing it in a manner that will prevent time loss and if nobody has any objections we'll maybe deploy on saturday evening?
I've been having a think Nick and I'll post up some rules for that this evening!
I really like the idea of the rules for jump troops as i think that the use of jump troops would really add to the game both in the comic eliment and look but have a few concerns, could you look and see if I have interpreted them correctly?
1. The only way for Jump Troops to assault a flyer is via a vector attack
2. To conduct a vector attack the unit must pass completely over the target flyer during the movement phase, each model who does so my then role a D6. On a successful role of 6 that model may then make D3+1 attack on the flyer with all normal weapon modifications.
3. On an unsuccessful roll of 1 that model suffers 1 wound with no saves allowed and the flyer must make a dangerous terrain test. A failed result by the flyer (a roll of 1) would cause the flyer to lose 1 Hull point and fixed velocity if it fails its Jink save.
Here are the my areas of concern;
1. During a vector assault Orks would not be able to take advantage of furious charge and so would only be hitting at strength 3. They would not be able to damage or even glance a flyer as there max score would be 9 against a minim AV10. Only a PK Nob would be able to do any damage.
2. Would the vector attacks be auto hits or would you need to role again to hit for your D3 +1 attacks.
3. Could you use grenades during your vector attack if so would this require an additional role or limit the number of attacks made.
4. The chances of doing any damage are too low when you look at the odds, and that’s without Jink, the limited opportunities due to the speed of the flyers relevant to the Jump troops and the potential loss of 1 Storm boy per turn due to failed jump pack roles.
Could i make the following suggestions;
1. Jump troops need to get in the mood to do a vector attack and due to the speeds involved at least one of the jump pack attacks should be resolved at a strength that could at least glance the target.
2. All failed vector assault roles of 1 cause instant death to the attacker and cause an auto immobilised result on the flyer.(loss of 1 HP and locked velocity)
The other thing you could use is the hammer of wrath rules for jump packs, dont they strike at strength 10 for the first attack or something? that way everyone would have a chance of damaging the flyers,
I agree instant death on a role of 1 but perhaps just count the plane as taking a penetrating hit.
I just found that in last weekends games the planes getting locked velocity really didnt effect my game at all, the planes can still move at whatever speed there were going at (generally 18") and can still turn and still shoot doesnt really make a big difference,
Whilst the element will produce interesting game play i don't want to make the jump pack troops op as it may adversely affect the game! It will be D3 + 1 auto hit but could add the option of an alternative 1 grenade attempt to! I understand the concern about strength so maybe i'll add their furious charge but they'd loose it as a squad for their assault phase?
Hammer of wrath is unmodified strength but init step 10.

Planetstrike in a nutshell is a rule set that allows for deep striker to assault on the turn they arrive, everything else is kind of faff for faffs sake so i could make up an alternative for the campaign pack and then its freely available!

On the flyer game, fluff-wise certain jump pack units couldn't attack flyers for example warp spiders and tau stealth suits. I would suggest that a list is included in the crib sheet of jump pack units which can attack flyers. Also what about Eldar and Dark Eldar jetbikes, could an Autarch on a bike with haywires perform an attack. Subject to a new Eldar codex.
Technically speaking yes, but i don't want to exclude Chris so there will be an alternative Eldar twist in their somewhere! Just haven't got round to figuring it out yet!

Just had a look at the new pack Scott, wow it's looking really good.
I’ve done some quick sums, and for the Blitzkrieg I like so far;
2 x Dakka Jets
5 x Deffkoptas
An Ork-tress of redemption
10x Lootas
10x Grotz
10x Grotz
Might have to look at the points balance though, as it may be a touch heavy on the ground element. Do the Orks need an HQ?
No, nick, neither side are required to take an hq! I'm working on a couple of additional units for those that like to build stuff too! They'll be finished in a day or two! Mainly to help the orks along as the imperial element are way ahead in terms of resources for the weekend!
Any thoughts on the pseudo-planetstrike rules? I think i've struck the right balance for that style of game without causing the havoc that planetstrike is traditionally assosciated with. Thats the angels of the emperor - death from above set for those who haven't yet seen the wip pack!

Always some sneaky Eldar around.
Scott do you want me to look at Imperial or Orks for force building?
The skyfire/ interceptor rule boost won’t be too much help as it doesn’t effect template weapons and the only other HS options for Orks are either short range; Rockets, KMB. Low strength; Big shootas or random Zapp gun. Now if the Lootas got the boost that would be a different story.
I looked at the total airborne list with a supper heavy Ork bomber but changed my mind. I felt that the fortress fitted the fluff better.

I think orks mate, i imagin there will always be an over balanced imperial element that we'll need to deal with!

Every time I see pictures of those Apocalypse tables I just have to shake my head and smile, it was truly epic!
I really wish I’d taken more pictures myself.
Sounds good, the fortress table at WHW springs to mind. A game like that need’s more than one green tide formation and a hand full of Stompas to look right though.
Standard boyz, at the moment painted 90 with another 50 waiting to be done.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I can field about a total of 180 painted Ork infantry models at the moment. With another Ork ally that should be enough
After the pasting I received from the Crimson Fists during the Apoc game I’ve been feeling a bit under gunned. So I’m thinking about investing in a pair of Super Cannons to deal with all of those annoying Landraiders. Also might get myself a mad Doc for the 5+ inv.
Wow this is strange, the speed freaks are slowing down, big gunz and fortifications what is Animosity doing to me?
Yeah I really wanted to be able to build something custom and ridiculous, sadly with the amount of painting I have to get done suspect I won't get chance
They'll be ready before the 1st, at least to the point in which you could begin a build! Some tweaking before their rules are finalised would be needed as with the mission stuff so input when they're out there will be welcome!
Hi all, I am still smiling after denying the waagghh!
I have started planning the crusade of fire campaign for friends up here. Scott can I have a copy of the record sheet you used to keep track of points as I am wanting to use a similar system?
Busy planning special missions, golden flag objectives to build doomsday devices and other goodies!
Still thinking of a way to include the arena battles between HQ's any suggestions welcome.
