Wow, I knew the barge was massive, but wow. That teaser really hammers that home. The paint job looks great, and really ties it into belonging with the other ships, I'm impressed

Thanks monkeyTroll ! The gatling guns are indeed faces, some more detailed than others due to molds pressing on neighboring barrels, but well, should work out once painted.

It is indeed carved using an electric grinder, and started as a regular rectangular piece of wood. In hindsight, I also have some wooden profiles with a rounded shape that would have been easier to work with... But well, not like I'm going to stop with that one.

Had to tidy the mancave in order to work from home, and room had to be made. I was still unhappy with some areas of the arena anyway, the inside of it especially, looked quite plain. So, yeah, sawed the whole thing to extract the parts I was most happy with. I have glued them in three different pieces, that I will now complete with more elements...

Oh noes! The arena has gone! How will we be able to fight our way to glory and freedom now?

Look forward to seeing how the remains get utilised.

@Fifty : Yes and no. Sure, on one hand getting rid of it was a bit unpleasant, and now I do not have an arena anymore to fight my way to honour and glory. But on another hand, because it was so big, I never was able to properly store it, even less put is on display. And it started degrading way too fast from that, with parts of the plaster peeling of. At least I had fun building it, and was able to share it online and with friends, these are the most important aspects to it.

@ArcaneHorror: I started with a base of vallejo fleshtone, dry brushed it white, then a wash of Casandora yellow or bloodletter depending on the areas, another wash gory red on the deeper areas, and a dry brush of flat flesh on others and finally a wash of agrax earthshade.

Grey and Green ? On the Fairy queen or the saturnine armour you mean ? I'm affraid not, this was just me not waiting long enough for the alcohol to evaporate before placing the parts under the UV lamp. Apparently this re solidifies a thin layer of resin. Hopefully this will not ruin the queen's face's resolution. Since then I am letting the parts breath for an hour before starting the curing...

Yes, this is probably the same greying as for the other models, although less heavy. This was my very first print, and accidentally got a bit of time to evaporate alcohol before being thrown into water, and still greying a bit.
But no, my more recent prints kept the original translucent green perfectly (well ,the oldest unpainted one would be about one month now), I just leave them in my basement without direct sunlight for about an hour, then straight to the UV lamp.

I didn't know color-changing resin was a thing! Also seems pretty handy. My resin is grey and then turns a sliiiiiightly different shade of grey when cured. Boring.

Oh really it is not a thing, just me being a noob and making mistakes. Hopefully I have not lost to much details in the queen's face.

It took me a few goes, and I didn't read every word, but finally got to look through the whole project. So much good, and I now have a ton of ideas for my own Chaos stuff. Keep up the great work.

I really like your Chaos Renault tank. Ever since Meer_Cat pointed out that a scratch built chaos tank I made looked like the St. Chamond tank, I have been tempted to make all the early tanks as chaos tanks, so Renault was one of my plans too. I also like you Hellhound especially the white script written on the side.

the cyclopean idea was more inline of my personal oppinion of the decimator, beeing an alien, malevolent and independent entity in general , with an eery somewhat emotionless style, and whilest their facemask does achieve that, it kinda also imo could be better done with an large orb like eye, especially the more malevolent look? maybee i am just rambling and beeing confused about my own project atm

As for the hades AC's , frankly GW's model for them is good and more importantly i allready know that it fits perfectly well on an amiriger from my count as Stalk tanks / Forgefiends, so when you brought up the equipment i thought why not.

Well I just see it as a chaos lord that got rewarded with a mutated obliterator limb. However, while the rest of his body integrity mostly remained, each new weapon generation makes the limb a bit more unstable and makes the infection propagate to the rest of the marine a bit more...

Allright, finally (re)installed a dedicated photo booth, and looking a bit better now. Still, ran out of battery while shooting, so the models I actually wanted to upload will wait until tomorrow.

Great conversion and paint job. The sword is especially good.

3d printing should let me build knights much faster. With the three scracth builds I made, the most annoying part were the legs, so I could just print legs then build a subjugator body on top....

Since I got my printer this summer, I've been trying to crack the code on printing some Subjugators and Questors Got some great files off Thingiverse but resizing them caused some issues (very thin walls in some cases) and various misprint issues meant I shelved the project for a while. Might have to boot back up!

@Boss Salvage, like upsizing Epic scale models to 40k ? Should work I guess, if one is willing to add enought details afterwards.

For a subjugator, I think I'd go with warhound legs and a brass scorpion body, then add the appropriate weapons...

Enjoy! I've printed out the knight conversion bits already, and they make me wish I could afford GW's knights so badly Maybe someday, especially if I keep having trouble with these epic knights (I hollow out the main bodies, but then they fill with resin and don't drain properly, despite punching digital holes in the sculpt. I'm now considering drilling actual holes in the print with a pin vice ...)

Argh yeah proper draining and inner curing can be a pain. On my end, for the titan, I now add 10mm holes when possible, so that I can fit an UV led inside the sculp and let it there a few minutes. This cures anything that did not drain.

Of course the fact that this is chaos and that I can easily cover such big holes in many things helps ^^!

The demons, while borderline NSFW, and weird and creepy. The purple and gold are a real departure from the other Chaos stuff of yours that I've seen.

The last 2-3 weeks have seen quite a lot of time spent working on my house, with a complete (yet planned) removal of my hobby space.

Just managed to setup something this weekend, and I am back to painting, with the Crow clan from the Bloodrage box now done :

Yeah nothing serious, but we are having some walls destroyed and living room reorganized to make place for stairs, so my hobby station is getting sacrified in the process. Will be a few month before I get another real paint desk, but well, in the mean time I was able to setup a temporary portable table. Should be good enough for now, I really missed building disgusting stuff !

Ideas on portable setup for modelling and painting are welcome by the way, I'll probably build two mobile cabinets, one for painting, one for modelling, but I have yet to decide on a design.

I'm sorry to hear that you gave up your hobby space, but that was very good of you to do. Good luck with the renovations, and I hope to see you posting from a new hobby space in a few months.
