@Tipios : Glad you approve, almost changed my mind on that arm, but could not resist making another model out of bits separated by more than two decades.
@ROTTEN_FACTORY : Thanks a lot ! HWPO a they say, Heresy Work Pays Off !
Now time for an update on the long run projects :
The siamese demon started receiving armor plates here and there. The freshest ones are still in need of filing, and of course straps to hold them together. This should make for a nice slaaneshi look.
And then there is this, the first torso for my chaos knights. The chapel like plasticard thing in the middle is where the head will fit. The brown part on top is a disfunctionnal component I replaced from my girl's car. I will probably curse this choice later on, as it is very heavy, but I like the industrial look it has with its five "chimneys".
Thanks for looking !

That knights gonna be 'uge! Slaneshi daemons looking tits too, *raises eyebrows repeatedly* Those runes do a good job breaking up that space. Is there anything happening in between the heads? I feel like there is room for something there ... maybe those oop dark Eldar slave girls or something else from your twisted imagination? In anycase looking forward to seeing more!

How big is Your demon? (hmmm, it sounds weird ;P)

Post by: KernelTerror
Cheers guys, much appreciated ! Not been able to build a lot these last days, just put some of the prospero marines together, love these old armor designs. @genom.cor : There is room indeed, I was thinking something like 12 or so smaller necks with demon heads, 4 heads is clearly not enough ^^. Slave girls are a good idea though, might make a pendant or something out of one... @ROTTEN_FACTORY: There should be some shortly, I need to search through my plastic pile and probably scavenge an old driller in order to get started on the two other torsos. But I can show the scale of the demon, he is a big chunk of magic sculpt : Thanks for stopping by !

@corpuschain : Thanks my friend !! Got my hands on a 202, there are some very inventive models in these pages, that is a reference to keep around for inspiration, I'll see if I find some of these images online... @LostCarcosa25 : Cheers, of course, do knick the knife. Their polearms have interesting looking blades indeed, figured a chaos renegade could carry this kind of twisted looking weapon around. @tipios : So that's the english name of the part. Thanks, really liked the shape of it, kind of reminded me of some old soviet spaceships. @ ROTTEN_FACTORY : Thanks ! Yup, it should be a pretty large piece indeed. In the mean time, progress is scarce due to me being out of glue. Still, was able to place the carnigroinsorceror on his base, and give him some tentacular wires as legs : And chose the base for the other two knight torsos. Those are very early WIPs ,but I figured it could be nice to keep track of the original parts before covering them in plastic and resin. So the first one is based on a blender rotor base, which should make a very nice vent pattern for the back of the knight. And the second is based on a lamp part, looking kind of like a dome with vertical windows in it... Thanks for watching !

Update Time !
The sorceror demon prince got some arms and additionnal tentacles/wires
Added some (yet unfiled) armor and a mouth to one of the bellies of the siamese demon.
And started on a squad of staff wielding marines. Those are actually pilgrimage staffs, that get garnished in heretical parchment, bones, chains and blades the further they get.
95173
Post by: ROTTEN_FACTORY
sorceror demon prince looks very promissing .
I have a question - what is this weird plastic thing which You use to build knight torso (first one). It's looks great . Imagine lots of wires going to the center part, and creepy engine in the middle
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks ROTTEN_FACTORY, the round blue part you mean ? It was a blender component, the engine rested on it. Yup absoluetely looks the part for an engine.

@Nurgle5 : Thanks a lot, please do reuse the idea, there is never enough multi headed demons on the internet. The large pipe is custom made, with a pipe tool and the same "magic sculpt" resin used for the body of the siamese demon prince
@ROTTEN_FACTORY : Thanks a lot, yeah, that dude is getting crazier and crazier..And harder to photograph ^^ !

@r3n3g8b0y : Thanks a lot my friend ! The body of the siamese demon ? It is Magic Scuplt, dries slower and is structurally stronger than GS once dry. Or are you thinking about the white resin used on the knight ? It is plastiroc, very cheap (5€ / kg), dries pretty fast but has poorer resolution, so more useful for large scultps.
@Kurnost : Much appreciated !

Speaking of whom, something arrived from Poland today ^^. As expected, content is awesome.
These guys will make some brilliant nurgle warriors, here are shots of them
I'll probably start with that guy, giving him a big gun for him to rest on his shoulder should let it keep its badass pose...
And an awesome bonus content in this package, some gun parts, that will be very usefull for the Chaos Knight
And a third part immediately found its place as the head of a Chaos Knight
And finally, something homebrew, a kind of dark mechanicus fetus, probably hard to read without paint, but I am pretty happy with it.

I'm Back !
Been a bit idle lately, as I had to move my hobby workshop from one room to another, and my previous was not moveable.
So I built a rolling metal table, just at the right level between my fishing chair and computer screens, pretty happy with it so far.
But back to the mater at hand, this :
The knight is getting a powerfist, jointing is still drying but I should soon be able to post a pic of the assembled knight with both his weapons...
Finished the second corrupted primaris, by working on his shoulder
And started on a third one, with a flamer and a tzeentchian head
Also started playing with the dark imperium nurgle mutants, with that tall guy
They'll be very fun to play with I reckon, so many intereste mutated bits and poses..
The death guard marines on the other hand, I am pretty underwhelmed actually, can't really figure out why...But maybe I am just pissed because they are not as tall as the primaris..Yeah, I am that petty... In any was, just needed to make em bigger then, this is what I started :

Woah, so much to see since I last checked this blog!
It's all fantastic, as always! I really like the massive daemons in particular. The Knight is coming along nicely, and some of the infantry are suitably unique.
One thing that stood out was how your spawn has a similar shape and pose to the daemon engine I just created (take a look in my latest update). It's strange since I haven't looked at your blog in a while and you definitely haven't seen mine! Great minds think alike!

Post by: VyRa
Good havens, you have made a lot of progress my friend. I especially love your Death Guard HQ, the rip cage gun is as sickening as it is fitting for the blessed of father nurgle.
As for the knight, i hate to tell you so, but i think its legs look a bit too thin and fragile for such a massive model. Almost like he's about to topple over. Adding some putty to it and adding additional mass (and dead flesh) to the legs would certainly improve this, as far as i'm concerned.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks for the advice Vyra, It is actually a point I was concerned about 4 month ago, when I first fitted the torsos to the legs, and because of that reduces the width of the shoulder plates. I value you opinion, let's debate reworking them. Here are some arguments in favour of me not doing more work ^^ : - The GW imperial knight seems to have reasonably thin legs too behind its armor plates, anyone has a measurement ? - The model is structurally strong. Everything is pinned and balanced. Right now the torso and weapons stay in place on the legs without glue, putty or magnets. I am confident that the model will stay this way. - I like the skeletal look of it. Good think about this army is that chaos lets me get away with weirdly sized limb and grotesque looks ^^ ! In any case, thanks a lot for the constructive criticism, do not hesitate to respond the points above. If I were to rework the legs, I'd most probably go the road of frontal armor plates, like on the GW Imperial Knight model... While I think about it, the opinion on that matter of any dakkanaut passing by is more than welcome.
95538

And one double headed ROTTEN_FACTORY warrior painted, loved that model, the sculpt work on the flesh melting down was a pleasure to work with. Plus, there is some kind of decayed nobility about that model...

Finished the rotten factory demon today.
And then they were four :
On another note, I had my first game in over 10 years today, as a childhood friend visited. His dark eldars faced my heretic astartes in a 500 points deathmatch. We slaughtered these sneaky xenos with the purulent might of Nurgle ! These new 8th ed rules are a lot of fun, I'll definitely try to play again.

Finished painting the headsman today :
And this conclude this painting batch's ROTTEN FACTORY models, but I have plenty more from the kickstarter that I'll get working on soon.

Those converted primaris are barely recognisable from the original models!

Great Scott! This is some awesome stuff. Love all the custom work your doing KernalTerror. Are you us No strait milliput while sculpting or are you mixing it 50/50 with green Stuff?
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
@sennacherib : Cheers ! I have actually never tried milliput products, I probably should. To sculpt the more precise stuff I use greenstuff. For the large pieces such as the knight titan, or when resolution is not require, I use clay from Giotto (5€ a kilo). I also use magic sculpt resin, that dries slower than greenstuff and is tougher.
@corpuschain : Thanks a lot ! Yeah, the primaris are quite plain models, so it is not too hard to deface them, will definitely do more !
For the update of the evening, here is a second painted chaos primaris, pretty happy about that one actually...
Both chaos primaris
And the three painted dark imperium models so far

Post by: KernelTerror
Well, one year, fourh month and 13 pages ago, I started building three knights. And I finally put the last paint drops on the first of them.
Unfortunately, my lightbox is too small for that model, so I improvised some lighting in my living room... Hopefully the pictures are readable.
For those joining in, this model is almost entirely scratch build, with wood, electric wire, plastic bits of various origins including a chocolate egg, and a part of my wife's car. The only 'real' bits are the flags, bolters, skulls, fangs, and of course the ROTTEN_FACTORY cannon (also used for the head).
Might have overdone it with the pictures^^ , hope you enjoy !

Back to assembling stuff, started a squad of Primaris Noise marines today.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
I say that all the time, but I really love cultists. However, since the release of the 8th and the three games I had, I realized I really lacked cultists with long range rifles. So, let's make some more cultists.
They will be bases on these ~40 old school elves I just received, the long robes and small size look appropriate for them.
While the anvil industry guns arrive, time to get chopping heads and arms !
66077
Post by: Kurnost
Looking forward to seeing your take on those Elves; your Primaris are awesome. That Knight is just amazing; it's like a massivedaemon used random knight parts as a suit of armour. Very very coool
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thank you very much Kurnost. Much appreciated coming from someone who appreciates big machinery ! Tonight, I started converting a ROTTEN_FACTORY sorceror into an heretic magos. He'll naturally receive even more tentacles and the robes will be prolongated over the joint. I also repositionned the right hand to fit the new pose : I also worked on decapitating the elves, getting them one step closer to cultists : I then inserted metal rods into their necks And glued some painting tissues on them : After a dip in PVA they are now drying, and should provide me with a nice base to build organic looking demon helmets.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Today, I worked on this RottenFactory conversion, he'll make a pretty badass squad leader for one of the cultist squads currently being built
Also added tentacles to the heretic magos and details the bottom of his cloak :
And the cultists are now dry, these should make for nice bases while sculpting the helmets

Good evening Dakka, I finished some primaris noise marines today.
First the champion :
Then one with an old schoold sonic blaster
I also moved my old plague marines to 30mm bases. In their last battle they managed to pass all of their disgustingly resilient saves, making my opponent very sad.
Side by side with the dark imperium conversions :

95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks a lot ROTTEN_FACTORY, you definitely will, I also like how he is turning out.
Tonight I finished building a Berzerk out of a reiver.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Evening dakka, I finished 5 cultists today, the pics don't really show the faces, the hoods are probably to blame for that. It will get much more readable once painted. Also had an unpleasant surprise this morning, as my knight fell from a two meter high shelf, and shattered to the ground. Most probably, an ankle joint gave up, probably earning me a big cup of "I told you so !" . Aaanyway, most of it is already fixed, but just gluing it back gave a pretty wobbly model as a result. At that point, I considered turning in into a Lord Of Skull, but that's no game, I wanted a top heavy knight, I shall get one ! (Although now, I want to build some lord of skull....stupid Kernel Terror !) In order to get a more stable result, I placed four big woodworking screws through the legs. They go through wood parts on one side, and plastic plates on the other, and the result seems much more stable. Just need to camouflage them with some demonic flesh, and paint it back, it should be good as new).
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Evening Dakka ! Tonight, I finished converting the ROTTEN_FACTORY OneEye into this heretic magos : Also finished a primaris noise marine : And finished camouflaging the repairs on the knight. This new setup feels stronger than the previous one, we'll see if it holds ^^.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Another day, another noise marine. Really love these forgeworld sonic guns...
I also started on a pretty nut project; building some kind of dark mech belisarus cawl based on a necron plane and some roots : here are the first steps :

Post by: ROTTEN_FACTORY
WOW! I must say this "kind of dark mech belisarus cawl" looks very interesting . It reminds me some illustrations made by Ian Miller.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks a lot ! Yeah that should be an interesting build. The base sealant is currently drying, after that I'll be able to mix industrial wires with the roots and shape them all properly, can't wait !
In the mean time, I finished my fifth and last primaris noise marine :
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Made some progress on the second knight's torso today, slowly taking shape.
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Added more tentacles to the belisarius chaowl, and started working on the body's stance. The gaunt summoner's head will be perfect for that dude. And added armor plates to the legs of the current WIP knight. the lefs still needs widening aroung the waist.

95538

Thanks Sennacherib ! Well I am supposed to be making cultists instead of being silly with roots and half a necron ship ^^. Looking forward to see your zombie tide painted, I have no doubt it'll be worth it.
96054
Post by: corpuschain
Wow, the Knight is absolutely revolting! In a good way Sorry to hear about the accident :(
I'm always amazed how, when you convert marines and other infantry, it's really hard to tell what the original model was. That's the sign of an excellent conversion!
Inspirational as always!
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks a lot for these kind words CorpusChain, means a lot. And regarding the knight, this is what happens when you incorporate automotive parts in a model ^^. No worries though, the repair looks stronger now !
If I want my magos to be a chaos belisarus cawl, he needs a fancy looking gun and an axe. Here are early versions of both. In each case, I'll be adding more wires, skulls, root tentacles...
And I also duplicated a daemonette claw in order to equip some of the magos' tentacles. I used the following setup based on a hinge and some resin. The results are not exact copies, but in that case, it is a plus.

Really glorious creations, Kernel! Very very imaginative and realistic in their corrupted and warped nature... it would be a pleasure to see these across the tabletop!
How did you manage to make the green stuff stick to the plastic so well? If I try it it usually falls off when it dries....

How did you manage to make the green stuff stick to the plastic so well? If I try it it usually falls off when it dries.... Thanks a lot r3n3g8b0y ! Regarding greenstuff I never really ran into that issue, does this happen regularly ? Aside from solidarizing it to the surface by pressing the borders of the resin with a tool, I do not do anything special to it. Of course it is not as resilient as glue, and I would not trust it for an heavily solicited area. For the noise marines above I sculpted the joints, then removed the weapons once it dried. Only after painting will they be glued back into place. Let me know if I am being unclear. Automatically Appended Next Post: Finished the tentacle batch holding the gun, and the arm holding the axe.
I'll then work on modifying the axe to make it look a bit mode darkmechlordish and on adding some skulls to the gun.

Wow. Some really over the top (or should that be above and beyond) conversion work you've done! Loving the old school (2nd edition) Chaos vibe these models are giving me.
And those flaming swords on the Primaris guys? Fantastic!
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks a lot Kestral and Craggy, much appreciated !
Wired the front chapel of the chaos belisarius, and placed most of the plates. Also shamelessely copypasted faces as top ornament and placed wires into their mouth. The magos's body can still be removed, as well as the axe, that should make for a less nightmarish painting experience...
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
With the frontal chapel finished, I started working on the back of the magos, adding dorsal sensors and some arcs on the side. Added the sigmarine reliquary, I think it works nicely...

Last weekend, my folks visited, and brought back tons of models from my high school years, including my old black legions.

Back to working on the Ghoul company, by corrupting the rest of the old school elf warriors I secured earlier.
Some of them received a sigmarine shield, stole that iead from a brilliant blog somewhere, unfortunately cannot remember which one...
The imperial gun is pretty long, so these guys will be using them with the help of different kinds of tentacles :
And with seven shields done, I can already deploy a nice looking squad, should be appropriate to "hold the line" in this month's painting challenge

Good evening fellas, tonight I finished a dark eldar haemonculus.
This is for a friend's birthday', who I am trying to get back into the hobby with absolutely zero subtlety by giving him unpainted models. Back in they days, my Black Legions often faced his dark eldars, leading to epic duels between Chaos lords and Wyches.
Hopefully I'll get to face that haemonculus one of these days, and shoot him in the face !
Next update, back to chaos I promise.

Holiday season always takes a toll on productivity, but I am back !
Made some progress on the heretek battlemagos, this one only needs a head and should be ready.
Also assembled one of my favourite ROTTEN FACTORY model, and gave it some tentacles that should mirror nicely the ones coming out of his belly...
And prepared daemonettes of various origins, who will be the first of a batch of 30... And I thought I was done with tedious infantry works after my cultist project...
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Good day dakka, finished one of the sigmarine dark mechanicus today :
Assembled another daemonette, from the latest models. Not fond of the monbreast look, so I added a new one, and some tentacles :
Also started working on this ROTTEN_FACTORY dude :
Since I like it a lot, I sliced it in two, and placed him on new legs :

One more primaris berzerk,
And a familiar for the fallen inquisitor.
And since a new year is beginning, here is all I finished in 2017. Around 90 models, allmost all of them converted. Many good things happened this year, between the Dark imperium box, arrival of the ROTTEN_FACTORY models, or the completion of some messed up project, such as the dark mech overlord, the renegade knight, or the quadruple demon.
Happy new year Dakka !

Sorry I haven't commented properly recently! I just had a good look through some of your recent work and it's as good as ever.
The old Black Legion army: it was interesting to see these. I find it fascinating to see where people started from (or where they've been) on their modelling journeys, particularly when their current work is of great interest to me. The Black Legion seems like such a standard looking force compared to your current work! Did you change direction one day, or was it gradual evolution?
The Cawl model is fantastic. I just decided myself to make a magos on dark abeyant, with lots and lots of tentacles, so looking at your Cawl has given me inspiration for what works in a dark mechanicus setting at what doesn't.
I like the little details such as the face with a pipe/tendril coming out of the mouth. Little details like this are what make these kinds of models so rich and characterful.
The Ghoul Company are great. They're unique, but have that typical KT feel of being slightly creepy and odd. I particularly love the tentacle arms holding weapons.
My favourite recent additions, however, are the hooded cultists - particularly the one with the torch and the gun over their shoulder. Something about that model conjures an image of cultists making their way through tunnels, shooting loyalists and burning them while they chant. Fabulous.
Keep up the great work! Yours is the first thread I come to on Dakka. It's inspirational when I need inspiration most!
95538
Post by: KernelTerror
Thanks for these very heartwarming words my friend, this encourages me to commit even more heresy.
Regarding my old Black Legion, it was used for gaming every week, modeling was just a bonus activity. While now, I almost never play and build models for the sake of it, and to discuss them on dakka. Well there is also the fact that I can now afford to buy a ludicrous amount of used models from ebay as conversion fodder, that surely helps.
I am looking forward to seeing your take on a Dark Mech Magos on Abeyant, that is a very promising project indeed !

Good evening Dakka, finished converting a squad of titanforge not plaguebearers into masked hereteks tonight :
Another Titanforge model is this demon queen. I wanted to fit her with wings, so I had to remove her hair and an arm :
Also recruited this ROTTENFACTORY priest into my corrupted inquisitoral warband, by replacing his arm with a gun.
And last but not least, some progress on the knight titan, with the plate holding the head drying into shape. I'll the remove it to finish modeling the head properly. Also added some ROTTEN FACTORY shields to the shoulder :

Update time on the demon queen. I almost entirely redid the wings, doing the tentacles out of clay and expecting to model their points out of greenstuff was delusional, and, I'll admit, cheap. I also added some demonic faces to the wing borders, and some spikes.

Nice work. Bumping up the slannesh in your forces.

Thanks Sennacherib ! Absolutely, one of the reason is that my main opponent used to play dark eldar. If we ever have a chance to play again, these daemonettes will strike first, which will most certainly make him very sad ^^.

That's quite a speed painting, still with a very good quality result!
Nice tactic to reward yourself that way, I do it too sometimes!

Thanks ! Yeah the next building batch should be pretty fun, I plan on finishing the TIE as well as finishing a knight titan, two big unreasonable projects as I like !

Those are some good daemonettes, I really like the claws. Quality sculpts from Raging Heroes seems like.

Yeah, that is a very good call on Raging Heroes' part, it absolutely fits the look and lightness of these models, as well as their general slaanesh vibe.

Nice work from the warp.
Digging the daemon rider, nice simple but effective conversion. That queen is pretty cool too, may have to pick one of those up, although I'll be changing up the lower half rather than the top.

Thank you very much MonkeyTroll ! Yeah, Titanforge has a nice range. I hesitated quite a while before removing her mechanic hair, as they were pretty cool, but they were in the way of the wings. And she needed wings to be able to keep up with her retinue. That reminds me that I forgot to take a group shot... Will fix that later.
In the mean time, work restarted on the TIE, adding two guns and many wires. I am considering replacing the wings with interceptor shaped ones, I think they'llwork better with the shape of the cockpit.

Much appreciated Apollinaire, welcome aboard !
Yesterday I modeled the skeleton of the chaos TIE's wings, could not resist attaching them, even if they'll need to be removed for the rest of the modeling and painting :
