Assembled pylon as far as i could before painting and getting replacement pieces from fw for missing pieces. Alas the core piece for bottom is missing :( and think i'm missing couple pieces that go between toes.

Built a bunch of Malifaux models for my newer crews. Perdita Avatar, Ophelia's crew box, Wanyudo, Minako Rei, 2 Katashiro and a Samurai all put together

Put up first 2 of 4 coats of blue armour for 12 necron warriors, 5 deathmarks, upper half of pylon, annihilator barge, 4 scarab bases and couple characters. Also made bases for above stuff(and for some reason I have more 32mm bases than I need...GW being generous with bases!). Bit more work on deorwine and 2 uruk's. 5 days left to finish those!

Started gathering up parts of the old vehicles sprue to a potential buyer on the Swap Shop.

Finished up a last tree stand, and kit-bashed/painted a couple long-barrel scatter lasers for a Firestorm.

Built more dwarfs, 15 ironclad to go. 25 done built with 5 sharpshooters and a pair of metal (one piece) heroes cleaned up.

Also 3 more throwing mastiffs.

Another narrative game this evening, my Eldar are searching for a hidden key to unlock a vault of spirit stones on the planet they're fighting on while a war between Chaos and the Imperium rages.

Dark Art Miniatures is running a Chaos bases and terrain KS, so I thought I'd give them a mention. I have their Malice RPG Starter Set, from Secret Weapon Miniatures. 

Background mat is Loke Battlemat's Slaughterfield mat.

While the set is pictured by the manufacturer as generic dungeon terrain, I figured I'd paint it up as a generic evil cultist's lair.

Basecoated 20 Eldar with my airbrush in preparation for a tournament next week. Finishing 20 (now 25...) minis in a week when I've not painted 20 minis since March is gonna be a challenge!

Painted a giant scorpion (old Reaper miniature) in a necron color scheme to go with my OOP necron force. Also finished painting one necron warrior to make sure I could match the colors from the ones I bought already painted from ebay.

Hopefully getting the first steps on my Ulthwé Test-Guardian done so I can compare him to the Iyanden one and finally decide which Craftworld I'll collect

Finished my Ophelia crew for Malifaux apart from bases, now wrapping up the last non-summons for Misaki's crew

Finishing off the derails on a 5 man aggressor squad with flamestorm for a tournament I'm going to on Dec 1st.

Bought more paint. Mostly for my partner's army that they're starting (Idoneth Deepkin with a unique paint palette), gave a quick coat of paint/wash to some ETB Nighthaunts scenic bases and then took a whack at painting the first character for my new weird-Chaos project. An elf with a falconing glove and a perched bird. Not sure if he's supposed to be a wizard or what. Attached the bird to glove via a green-stuff'd tree branch he is now holding aloft for the bird to sit on. Not sure if I'll use him considering how flimsy he is and the unlikelihood of there being many aelves in an AoS Chaos warband. He is certainly a cool model though and I'm happy to have slapped some paint on and tested out my new paints for my army scheme.

Did some small conversion on chaos cultists, and carried on painting my Slaanesh CSM. Damn these new CSM take a lot longer to paint per model than Primaris Marines.

Almost done repainting my Old Metal Helblaster Volleygun. I'm slowly getting back into a painting groove which i exciting because I've actually managed to put a slight dent in my pile of minis this year.

Found some minis left over from a purge and started painting them. Welcome to the Bone Legion - just have to decide who their primarch is.

My Empire army that I am slowly repainting all have bases that I paint Khemri Brown.

Khemri brown is no longer in production, but I managed to get a completely unopened pot from my local game store about 2 years ago. I had been saving it for that long specifically for this project.

When I went to open it up to finish painting the bases of my army I found that is had completely dried out. I tried to save it using a medium and water...but no go.

So now I have to get an equivalent and hope it matches all the stuff i have already done.

I have a lot of detail work to do on my models for this weekend's tournament... Help!

Received the first package of foam crates and painted them up quickly. Going to see if it works on the table, or if I need to go back and paint some individual barrels (which I'd rather avoid!)

They're Micro Arts Studios hard foam "crate heaps", three optional sets. You can't find them reasonably in the US but Trolltrader has some on eBay from the UK with reasonable shipping.

Painted this. Also rolled some dice in Age of Sigmar for the first time with my partner. Just the introduction "battleplans" from the Stormstrike box set, with only a couple painted miniatures in total. Explaining the rules was both more and less complicated than I thought it would be. AoS is pretty good like that. I never really did stop to think how convoluted the "Hit-Wound-Save" sequence might be for someone who has never seen it before until sitting down to play with my significant other.

Today I spray primed a Stormcast army I've had laying in a box for a few years:

1 guy on the dragonhorse thingy
20 hammers/shields (Liberators?)
5 archers
10 of the two handed hammer guys (Dominators? Decimaters?)

The chaplain guy with the standard with the candles on it
A converted chaplain guy to represent the Lord with the sword/hammer

I have 3 of the winged hammer guys assembled with magnetized wings but I need to glue in some plastic to keep them from rotating then assemble the other 3 winged guys. I also have the new female commander, another sword/shield commander, and another guy on a dragonhorse to assemble.

They were sprayed with Rustoleum aluminum primer which is nice and bright for contrast paints. I'm thinking one coat of light purple then the darker purple washed into the recesses. Turquoise on the shoulders and shields? Gold trim?

Quickly did up another three "stacks o' crates", for a complete massive rusty depot.

Elbows, why do you keep posting things I will want to get?

It's the same game, but they've managed to make it play even better and smoother somehow.

Day of Black Crusade-ing went well. We spent far too long taking down a Mutalith Vortex Beast. Our 1KSons Sorcerer managed to accidentally summon a trio of Bloodletters. They didn't last all that long, but one of them busted our Alpha Legion HTH monster's giant double-handed chainaxe. He did pick up the Daemon's Hellblade though. Those things are DANGEROUS.

Tried to un-warp some cork hills and painted some skeletons (just have a few for RPG and maybe Vanguard).

Inventoried an X-Wing 1.0 starter I picked up reasonable on ebay. Guy threw in some extra tokens and cards, which was nice of him

Did some Chaos cultist conversions this morning. Now working on painting Slaanesh Chaos Marines, slowly working my way through about 50 models.

I have 20 Freeguild Swordsmen I got off Ebay that I need to rebase. I also think I'm out of spare round 25mm bases so I'll have to go through all my bits boxes for spares.

Went to a model train shop near me, it's a wonder I even found out that it exists to be honest,

Got some pine trees and got them on wider basing, much easier that making my own. Just need to flock the bases and seal them all.

More work on CSM. Getting into a steady rhythm of painting the colour scheme now and making some decent progress.

Painting more terrain for LOTR tournament on next week saturday. Getting close. Also worked on the pairing program for it and did bunch of number crunching to determine actual average damage for necron pylon vs various targets after removing the overkill(doesn't matter do you do 12, 20 or 54 wounds vs leman russ. It's dead. So excess damage over 12 is misleading. This overkill distorts quite a bit. Vs baneblade simple formula gives tad under 32 damage, removing overkill about 19.5...)

Painting up command miniatures from Alternative Armies for my undead KoW army.

I managed to paint one colour on one model last night before I got distracted by a Total War campaign...soo...Not much to discuss.

Although, thanks to Ebay, I am now one tower away from having a Full Citadel Fortress I can use for Siege battles!

Picked up a couple of bits on Ebay for a pair of projects I'm working on. A lasercut MDF dungeon layout for Dungeon Crawling with my partner, and a second hand 28mm Steampunk army for a ruleset I'm writing and need units to playtest.

More work on my Slaanesh CSM. Working on my first Havok Squad. Three CSM left to paint for a complete Havok Squad.

Playing against Orks in a 2k ITC game this evening.

Iron hands are around 30% complete so far - I changed my painting checklist a bit to avoid painting highlights earlier than anticipated

Almost finished Dreadnought 4-6 with painting up the last off white coats on the details - after this I can finish off the few spare base coats and then give the entire army a wash this week.

2nd armour highlights on my WE Exalted Champion. Also messed up the wings so now decided they will be black as my intended scheme didn't work.

Decanted a couple of GW paints into dropper bottles - made a mistake here too (didn't thin before first attempt which was so thick and gloopy it blocked the opening and ran down the side of the bottle so lost a little paint here).

Every day's a school day.

Catching up on my Conquest backlog, Chaos Rhino up next.

Stripped paint from a dozen miniatures I found in storage. Going to finish these Series II terminators just for sheer stubborness

With these moria goblins done I'm about 600 pts(standard size for games here) WITHOUT Balrog. That's good point to be in.

Hobbywise, I kinda want to finish all my Black Legion models before the end of the year. Should be very accomplish-able even if I do plan on picking up more CSM and Havocs to update my army to the new sculpts.



Until then, I think I will hold off finishing Abbadon. I currently have him to a tabletop standard, but kinda don't want work on him more as I want to clear my backlog and don't want to get sloppy trying to rush.



If I finish that, I also would like to be really close to finishing my Primaris army before the end of the year. I just have 10 Intercessors, 10 Incursors, an Apothecary, a Chaplain, 2 repulsors, 1 Impulsor and a Storm Raven. I would be pretty content to just get the infantry done by new years.

Worked on my 2nd hand baneblade, with some 3rd party parts, looking great, just got to basically work on the turret(which is dead on top, on account of it being an abandoned Fortress of Arrogance conversion project) and then onto details

Worked also on single truescale primaris marine, and fire support tank wyvern/hydra using Kolosus turret from blood and skulls

Base coating a second regiment of revenant cavalry for Kings of War. Hopefully they'll be nearly fully completed by the end of the weekend.

Ran lord of the rings tournament. Player count dropped a bit so 9 came plus me. Goblin town won narrowly over serepent guard/rivendel. I was guest friendly and came last last game 3-4 loss and even one more turn could have turned the tide

I'm working on Goblins in two scales: two units of 10mm Wolf Riders to act as Light Cavalry in a Dogs of War army for Warmaster, and ten 28mm Spider Riders for my O&G army.

Drawing 2D card terrain and trying to put together some believable solo scenarios for OPR Age of Fantasy.

Working on a Commission for the Kill Team Arena terrain. I didn't take that close of look at the GW colors when I accepted it. It has a lot more white and yellow than I thought it would. It also took me a bit to figure out they went about the doors colors. Or at least what I am going to do: 4 doors in the black and yellow and the rest in dark blue and dark copper. I think I will be a little more fancy with the boxes too adding a little extra gold trim to them since it is easy enough to fill the recesses with the main color.

Finished this month's moria goblin project's main part. 12 warriors, 1 prowler, captain, drum and drummers. Next to finish up bonus model(balrog). Also progressed with dunedain ranger force, minas tirith banner bearer and horn blower, their bolt thrower and started working with 12 unarmoured lothlorien elves plus captain. Oh and working on isengard troll as well!

Also got bunch of metal sheet. I will cut this into smaller pieces and attach to plastic container and then put magnets to bases and hey presto magnetic transportation/storage solution.

Working on painting Plague Marines. I still hate them, but the more I do, the closer I get to finishing. That's the only thing pushing me forward

Black Washed an entire marine force last night of some odd 50 models

Two more terminators and I'll be able to move on to my primaris stuff. I now have 6 bolter terminators and 4 melee terminators. A pity I don't have DeathWatch any more.

Clean and organize my workstation a bit, pack my Necron army for gaming tomorrow, and then start putting paint on my second Tomb Sentinel.

Finished 5 rangers of north, 6 dunedains, Halbarad with and without banner and Arathorn. One ranger missing but I\m sure I find him sooner or later. Also work on few minas tirith guys, 13 wood elves and isengard troll continues.

Finished rangers of the north bunch of wood elves and took photos for blog. Got chance to see all the moria goblins I have arrayed at once so far. Quite a horde already. Still need some 20 or so gobbos plus some trolls and bat swarms

Also been cleaning up room and organizing models around a bit. Put all the LOTR models not painted to "primed box" and "rest". Depressingly full boxes...Well just got to keep painting. 24 mordor orcs progressing nicely. Then to finish up near done mordor force...Then to isengard and dwarves. AAAAARGH!

Finished building all my plastic gloomspite gitz. Just the Squig Gobba to go. And that’s resin so it’s going to take some prep.

Christ it’s a sea of grey plastic. I’m going to have to take a sabbatical if I want to finish these in my lifetime.

Drawing up some more 2D card terrain. Village themed this time so houses, barrels, crates etc.

Clearing my old garage, in terms of gaming this has lead to me finding:

- Megatraveller boxed set, with the Hard Times expansion
- Traveller boxed set, with half a dozen expansions
- City Tech boxed set
- 1st edition soft bound Rouge Trader edition of 40k

So many Chaos Knights to build. Well 15. It seems like a lot more will all the mold line cleaning though. Also have another dozen Chaos Warriors too. I am hoping to have that all built and primed before Thanksgiving. That gives be the 4-day break to get them painted to my minimum tabletop standard (and hopefully beyond) for the next week of my Escalation League. After that, I am going to wait for the new Battletomb to see where I want to take my army next.

Finished first 2 rivendel elves for test scheme. Gold done with vallejo liquid gold paints. Also worked on 6 warg riders and started 4 black numenorians and 6 morgul knights. Also glued up metal sheet for plastic container. This will be new storage/transport solution for me. When the 300 magnets(covers all my painted models...but not much spares. Need more soon) arrives, whenever that is since finnish postal service is on strike, I start to put magnets on my LOTR models.

Need taller box or two though. Pikes and morgul knights are bit too tall...

I think they're fantastic models and could definitely see the IG range being updated to work alongside these sculpts. They're not as goofy as the older ones!

Got chapter symbols in, going to prime and basecoat them.

Anyone else running into this odd issue where simple green won't affect the Contrast primers? I left a paint tester to soak for three days and all the contrast paint came off, but the primer coat remained. I've never had a primer survive so cleanly before.

Begun painting a Tyranid "lurker", a genestealer conversion.

Stripped paint for like 60 lotr dwarves, random bunch of lotr high elves, some moria gobbos. Preparing for tournament tomorrow(this tournament doesn't allow discarding maelstrom cards that you literally cannot score in any way unlike usually here so I had to alter refined strategy options a bit)

Today I was a jammy git and managed to paint pinky-purple gaunts to fit a grungy-green colour scheme for a small Nid Kill Team. Jeremy the Genestealer got upset earlier, and dashed outside to eat some mushrooms in the garden. He's now grown an extra pair of arms and taken up woodwork in the man cave.

I think they're ready for the match on Wednesday.

Finishing Starfire and starting on my first few models in a new Malifaux crew I'm doing for a local slow grow. These 5 have to be finished in the next fortnight which is easily doable given their limited palette

Airbrushing armour highlights on a CSM squad.

Re-airbrushing original basecoat after highlights way too heavy and bright. Looks nothing like the rest of the army which has more muted dry brushed highlights.

Still too bright, so re-primed with Army Painter Chaotic Red spraycan.

4 hours of my life wasted getting back to where I started - still at least I drew even by the end of the afternoon.

Tomorrow going to drybrush the armour highlights like I did with all the others - lesson learned - stick to the plan.

Going to finish the Immolator assembly tonight if all goes well.

Yep. Alas have found that changing way you paint mid project rarely works well :( bad for old armies.

Ho-ho-horror!

Began layering my Skullmaster and reorganized my Khorne Daemon army post - CA.

Spent the afternoon playing Black Crusade with friends.

We finally reached the end of the campaign. After detonating a Knight reactor to open up a massive pair of blast doors aboard a giant Chaos vessel, we went into the ship's bridge to find the bastard Chaos Lord who has been trying to kill us since the very start (we're on the same side, but he doesn't like us).

He was attempting to rebind a daemon to the ships navigation system (all the bound daemons got released Ghostbusters 1 style), and we decided to help the daemon as it couldn't be any worse than the stupid guy trying to kill us all the time.

Eventually the Chaos Lord cast an enormous psychic power that would have instantly wiped us out, except it is such a dangerous power that it causes two Perils of the Warp, not just one. One of the results the GM rolled was "Psychic Mirror", meaning the power's entire effect is instead inflicted on the caster.

The Chaos Lord died, blasting himself into oblivion, and now we have a new master: a very annoyed and recently freed Bloodthirster who wants us to build him a skull throne.

Finished first 6 sisters of battle to pre-varnish and gold stage. Now wait for dry enough weather I can varnish them! Also worked on 23 dwarves and started 10 seraphim's.

Worked on the Immolators and finished three more Eschers.

WIP of PEG's The Goon Miniatures, after colored primers and washes. No paint, except for the bases. The dwarf in the background only needed a few washes of Purple for his grey-purple suit. The gypsy, meanwhile, was then painted grey, as I was trying the purple wash as something of a shade color. Still needed further painting, of course, but skipped most of the basecoating and blacklining.

Back to sculpting. I started on another Sisters of Battle figure - this one carrying a heavy looking warhammer. And have kind of been spurred onto making something else. I'm considering doing some corrupted Sisters figures to complement these. Likely all for one god - probably Nurgle - though Tzeentch could be interesting too (if perhaps in a style which is more common with other manufacturers of similar models, so not so appealing).

Eventually hopefully I'll be making these figures available for sale as some alternative 40K figures (ah, obviously sans any proprietary iconography by GW).

Still part way through a house move, not touched a model paint brush in six months, huge backlog of stuff to paint.

Painting Mordian Iron Guard squads...I have 30 I'm working on, and another 110 in the white waiting.

I have had no time to paint. I managed to highlight the red on a mini i'm currently working on and that's it in the last week!

Working on some scouts. Realized I'm actually going to have to get out the flesh tones.

Sculpting details on several miniatures: a chapter serf weapon team and vox caster for the Fire Hawks, some unification era techno barbarians for fun, and a rogue psyker for Ing28. Later, when the GS needs to dry, I will paint some plastic praetorians.

Tonight, I have resolved to try airbrushing for the very first time. Probably just a bit of priming. I'm pretty nervous, but excited all the same.

I purchased an Iwata HP-CS, though I have yet to even remove it from the box. I fear the second I begin spraying I'll instantaneously cover the room in a cloud of paint. Haha.

recovering from Yesterday, Yesterday was more interesting with game related stuff. so about Yesterday, because today was dull..

Played a game of Chain of Command, only my second game so far, my Imperial Japanese Army taking on the might of the Soviet Union. got my opponent down to 2 morale points, there was then a bit of edgy moving around as we both tried to avoid casualties while getting a good position

in the end, Soviets charged, and got me down to 2 morale also, but managed to nail the swines shortly after.

I do love this game, easy to play for anyone with a decent bolt action army, by decent I mean not "min/max" to oblivion and actually having a decent number of infantry.

Great fun though

A bit of 1-1 scale wargaming aka airsoft but sadly nothing miniature related. Hopefully over Xmas there will be some free time to pull some Star Wars legion out of storage.
Other than that I have been planning and making purchase lists for lotr sbg.

About to play the second mission of our Christmas campaing with my brother, searching and rescuing a chaos lord who drank like a fish. Couldn't resist the call of hot wine.

Assembling the extra bikers I got from Warhammer Conquest as Deathwatch Bikers. 11 of them now ready to ride to the undercoating table.

Nursing a sore head after staying up too late building a vintage wolf chariot with a crew botched out of whatever spare goblins I had lying around. Chariot is looking passable and once the boy's skeleton chariot arrives in the post it'll be time for a little festive chariot race!
