I think that's intentional so they can use the same body with four different heads (and one optional tail). if it looked too "furry/rat ogre-y" it could look odd with the regular ogre head.

No doubt, and the variant peices are a great idea. I'd like to see Puppets actually do whole rat/ork/undead teams. That'd be sweet.

As a concept artist that actually gets paid to do stuff like this, I really am sad to see you do a contest like this.
Here's how companies normally do this..
Float a contest with a small prize.. check
Receive dozens, hundreds, or even thousands (Netflix) of entries... check
One entrant receives prize.. (not yet)
Company keeps all entries and has a stockpile of free concept art.. (in progress)
This is viewed by professional artists as one of the dirtiest corporate tricks in the book. Perhaps that wasn't your intent but understand that without spelling out who has the rights to the art that is submitted or what your company will do with the entries, you have left this open to abuse.

Guys, this is contest. It is supposed to be fun. As You are probably aware of, we are making products fitting certain esthetics. We MAY use winning entry to produce something, if it is really good. But I'm certain that in this case the author of the drawing/photo/art will be contacted and some royalties will be agreed upon. So please treat this as an accassion for some fun, not a cheap way to rob You of ideas and designs.
And a small studio update.
What do you think, what else could we fit into chest like this?

"Fun" doesn't cut it when IP rights are concerned, and exposure kills. Especially when good work can take a lot of time and resources to do properly. If I'm going to spend 10-20 hours working on something, a $25EUR voucher and no guarantee that you won't use my work without proper compensation is a joke. It doesn't matter what the intent is, spec is always slimy. All this does is cheapen the extremely hard work of anyone who actually wants to work in the field.
If you want to make a call to artists, at least provide proper documentation.

100x this. PW, I know the majority of people that are going to submit to this are probably not professional artists but Fafnir is absolutely right. If you don't have an exclusive set of terms and conditions about what will and won't happen with the art that is submitted (including the winner) then nobody is protected. Not the artists who submit their art (be they professional or not) and not you. I understand you say this or that won't happen or whatever, but the fact is, if you have not put it into a terms and conditions or similar statement that anyone submitting their work can read, then it's exactly what we've described.
Netflix has held a few envelope design contests for their mailers. The people submitting art would receive no mention, no credit, would not retain the rights to their art, would allow Netflix to use their art in whatever way they like, and the artist would not even be able to show the art in their portfolio. This applied to every single entry. The winners would get to "see" their art on a Netflix mailer. They ended up with tens of thousands of entries that were now all theirs. On the low end at $100 per design that is a lot of money they never paid anyone for art they ended up using.
These are examples of other types of "contests". Stephen Silver, a famous animation artist has gone into great detail, so if you need examples of companies doing the following, I can dig them out.
Numerous businesses in the US and Europe (Australia as well) have held logo design contests. The winner gets some cash prize and a mention. Most corporate logo designs cost several thousand dollars.
There have been numerous poster design contests for concerts, albums, and tours. They have all followed the above examples. The artist would get a small cash prize or maybe a t-shirt or a free concert ticket. Their art would now be used on album covers, t-shirts, accessories, posters, advertisements, etc.
What I would hope to see from you Puppetswar, is specific terms and conditions. These should outline what happens to the art (all the entries not just the winner). What you would intend to do with the winning entries etc.

Guys, I understand Your concerns, Your opinions are passed to the owner of the company. I'm pretty sure we are not Netflix or any other big companies needing to spend few thousand dollars on a logo. Speaking of which, ours (in its various forms) was designed and made by professional, paid artist.
And now something new.

PW - Art is art and ideas are ideas. Designing a logo, a poster, a t-shirt, or a miniature.. it's someone's idea and art and talent that has gone into it. The way you're dismissing this.. it's a bit insulting.. though I do appreciate that you passed it on to someone who might "get it".
Those containers look good.. and $15 for 3 is pretty tempting.

Finally put in another order. Bad timing for me being able to do a big order like I wanted but I had to jump on this and at least pick up some of those things I've been eyeballing. There's very little in your store I don't want Automatically Appended Next Post: You guys are usually pretty open to suggestion so here goes!
Many of your pieces are compatible with a certain game set in the grim dark future.. Recently something has come out for that which uses small little automated tractors.
It got me thinking.. that you have a few different "small" track units for tracked guns and similar and a cool little 3-leged walker (which I just ordered one of). It would be neat to have a little accessory pack for vehicles to add cranes, lifts, small drills for mining, or other utility features. This adds the ability to create objective pieces and additional terrain elements from your existing ranges.
One other idea.. I really like the little 3-legged walker. It would be really neat if you did a version that replaced the lower "walking" leg with a wheel unit. This would turn it into something similar to the mobile workers from Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans
Either way, I am glad you guys are successful.. I own a few of your models now and have been happy to watch you develop and grow as a company... getting better and better.
94981

Thanks a lot A set of various industrial tools is in design already I believe
And a wheeled carriage for tracked guns... I will pass this idea to the design team.

I got my order from the 20% sale in Saturday.
The new weird foam mixture crates are.. very bizarre. They hold the detail well enough and apart from a few air bubbles, they're as well cast as any resin I would expect.. but for being solid they weigh so very little. I'm honestly worried about knocking them around on the table! I'll probably mount them to a base to help with that though. The look is very strange but I'm sure a coat of primer will help and a coat of paint will help even more
The Taurus APV had a few slight casting issues and part of the inner body cracked where the sides are supposed to mount. Otherwise it is a really interesting kit. The weapon mounting points are a little odd to me but overall, for being one of their older kits, it's a solid purchase.
I also got one of the little walking gun sentry drone..things.. It's really neat and I ordered a 5 pack of missile pods to go along with it (and arm up my bigger stompy robots too).
For my free pack of heads I got werewolf heads! I was pretty excited about this. I admittedly won't be using them for werewolves (probably). A while back I had ordered some Privateer Press Steel Head Halbredier bodies to convert to D&D Hobgoblins and these heads will likely go to that. They are crisp and look great!
All in all it was an awesome purchase. I'll have to figure something out for that cracked Taurus piece but I think this is my 4th or 5th purchase from PW and they are definitely holding onto my business.

MLaw, please contact me via e-mail (puppetswar@gmail.com) and we will see what can be done with this faulty resin
Speaking about containers... Well, I was suprised how this new material comes off too. First - models casted with it are detailess on the bottom and there MAY be some small bubbles there. Additionally, casts are multicolored and seems made from faulty resin - they are not. This is foam-resin and it shoud looke like that. By using this technology, we will be able to produce relatively cheaply larger pieces of terrain for example. And as they are lightweight, it will be possible to ship them without breaking the bank too.
And topknots... yes, I think they may be popular among some of the more chaotic goths

Love the door! Any possibility of making the door separate from the frame, and having holes available in each so you could magnetize the door?
I know that's a long shot, but that would make the door incredibly useful.
How about some sci-fi windows, with shutters that could be magnetized as well?
Regardless, the door looks great!

To expand upon this, it took 22 days to get a shipping notification, but the package actually came the day after I posted this - go figure. Notifications aside it actually arrived in a quite fast fashion so I apologize for impugning PW's good name.

That is a beautiful model. Really dynamic, nice facial expression, the inexpert shock absorbers on the front tines, nice detailing on the jacket, good job of using the Ork tendency of pop culture parody with the Judge Dread helmet, and I love how his legs have a hard time wrapping around the body so the pedals are elevated. Just a well made model. Makes me wish I collected orks.

Puppetswar, have you test fitted your bits on the new line of larger primaris space marines? I'm curious if your heads and weapons fit as well with the new models as they did with the smaller scale previous marines. I can't find any pics of primaris models converted with your bits yet. If you have access to them, could you post some blu tac test fits with them? I'm worried that the heads and swords will be comically too small.

I don't know about their weapons, but the heads seem to be pretty decent sized. You might want to cut the neck piece so the head can be glued a little bit forward judging by the dry fit I did.

Thanks for posting the pic. I actually think the head do look to small espeically with the gorget (the second from the right normal marine being the prime example but also true on the primaris ones). They don't look big enough to be able to contain a head appropriate for the bodies in that pic IMO and I'm not sure how the Puppets War heads compare wtih the helmetless heads on the new primaris kits.

I know that pain all too well. Hopefully you'll get settled in and share some awesomeness before we know it. Best of luck with the move.
PW - Is there any chance we know roughly when that amazing Prime variant might be released?

I'm looking for count-as for possible ogryns and I'm having a hard time understanding the scale on some of your products. Are the Destroyer Units roughly around the same size? Smaller? Bigger?

And... if you know us you knew that this kind of upgrade was inevitable

Warthog is taken, right? :p
Gazelle is already a helicopter…
How about the Oryx then?
Big antelope sorta thing with extremely pointy horns three times the size of its head.

Jeepy McJeepface.
There's certainly precedent for the name.

The Honey Badger

It seems to me that, as it's no doubt fast, lightly armoured but armed to the teeth, then it's going to be something along the lines of:
Marauder
Brigand
Raider
Ravager
Riever
Bandit
My suggestion would be 'Ravager'

I second Oryx. Or how about Impala?

Definitely a Badger.

Post by: insaniak
Honey Badgers are certainly angrier, but it's a clunkier name for a light vehicle.

Really cool that you're doing something like this traditionally instead of digitally!
I would call it .. the Echidna
Looking at the orky buggies that are along similar lines, do you have any plans to release gunners posed for either of those kits?
EDIT: Also.. any chance of getting a conversion kit for the new jeep kit to add a more "lived in" type of look?

In honor of the SAS iconic desert rats JEEP, I'd say call it the RATT (rapid all terrain transport or rapid armored trooper transport).

Renegade

Wagoneer

@warboss - I have to say I rather like RATT as well - it seems to just fit and the acronym makes sense. I also like the sentiment behind it - but unfortunately, the SAS weren't the Desert Rats (that was the 7th Armoured Division). The SAS are simply 'The Regiment'.

Thanks for the clarification. I blame childhood 80's reruns of the old TV show for my confusion!

Of course in this case it would be the RATT Patrol.

Very nice names guys, I have my personal favourite here, let's see what other guys think.
And MLaw, yes, there is a couple of add-ons we are thinking of. Ofc, turrets will fit the ring.

Hehe, don't worry about it - your confusion has given birth to an awesome acronym! TBH, RATT Patrol sounds even better - almost like there should be other variants...
