Just did a bit more work on my 3rd Dire Avengers squad applied the gold on most of the models and the Skarsnik Green as well as applied highlights on most and a mid tone and shading. Feel like I've begun on the end road of the squad.
Primed about 1/2 my undead AoS halflings before running out of spray. :(
So then I worked on finishing that 2nd unit of AoS Marauder cav - and barely got the last two done as I ran out of glue....
*&%^!
Have done quite a bit more work on my 3rd Dire Avengers squad but I'm starting to run out steam a bit. But I'll soon have enough done for my Kill Team(s) I've decided to make all my DA squads be from different shrines with each Exarch wielding different weapons. Could've made four different Exarchs with a different load out in the same colours now I think about it. Would've been much easier but I think this has been a pretty good learning experience. And I'm slowly building up to an Eldar 40k army anyway.
Assembled the Colonial Marines/Ripley/Newt from Aliens. 16 Xenomorphs to go.
On a related note, what Citadel paints would anyone recommend for 80s-ish US woodland camo? The Colonial Marines uniform is made using an unused woodland pattern from that era. I’ve found some guides for Vallejo paints but I’m having trouble finding the particular colours without paying a lot of shipping.
Built 1/2 a box of AoS Chaos Marauder foot troops.
Base coated some more Necrons (new units that've gained a rank in our Crusade - my models have to earn their paint. ).
Did some repair work on 6 Necrons.
"Finished" half of my 3rd Dire Avenger squad, still have to paint the Exarch's Dire Sword, thinking of painting it with a red field like a Sith or something. I'm doing the Witch Blades of my army purple as one of the themes I'm carrying on through the units are purple deets such as spirit stones, eye lenses etc. I'm going to do power weapons such as on my 1st Exarch's power glaive and my flying autarch's power sword in the traditional blue.
Also high lighted my 1st DA squad's black Dire Shuriken catapults with Eshin Grey, got a bit carried away with it here and there, but that isn't hard to fix and they look much better now.
Painting ghouls. 50 of them plus 3 characters. 43 more to go after these are done...Also made list of AOS painted/unpainted models. End result 820 models of which 435 painted, 385 unpainted. After the 96 FEC models I have on table now are done biggest pile is on stormcasts...137 models there...
Finished 52 flesh eater court models. Next 43 more ghouls...
Also spent time chasing down paint supplies. FLGS is running REALLY thin on paint section and what's worse GW flat out can't send sprays to EU thanks to brexit until it redoes labels. Wraithbone(which I use as primer for lumineth) I ran out, grey seer as well. Grey seer I haven't found on ANY finnish web store. Wraithbone I was able to find ONE store.
Grey seer I use for sisters of battle and gloomspite as it's my base prime to go when I go for white so I'm in bit of quandrum. Guess random primer and brush paint the bottled version? Whenever THAT comes to Finland...that too is out.
tneva82 wrote: Finished 52 flesh eater court models. Next 43 more ghouls...
Are they little green ghouls, creek. By chance? (Sorry if you don't understand the reference, but I just couldn't resist)
Tyranid Horde, that marine looks really great.
Uhh, did a bit today, was applying Nuln oil to the golden bits on my 3rd Dire Avenger squad and managed to drop one of their yet to be glued on arms and as I went to look for it I tried to push the top of the bottle closed and pushed it over so half of it spilt onto my newspaper. Good job Ben! Good job. I'm sure this has happened to everyone before. Finally managed to get the courage to shade my Autarch's white bits and...not too happy with it, in all honesty, should be easy enough to fix, though.
Green, orange and white ghouls. I use 3 colours to make the huge swarm bit more varying in look. 170 ghouls all looking same colour would be boring IMO.
Finally got the motivation to start on my Helbrute for the Dakka Painting Challenge. Highlighting the armour before moving on to basecoat other areas. Managed about twenty minutes.
Not looking good for completing by the end of the month. Still, at least I'm consistent.

Ah-ha! So there are little green ghouls, I knew it lol! I know I'm breaking the cardinal rule of 'do not explain the joke,' but I must spread the greatness of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!
Back OT I fixed my autarch a bit and he's much better now. Also had a go with that basing paint stuff on the base of one of my Guardians and it looked surprisingly good. Thinking of painting it in the colour of ruined Wraithbone as my Eldar faction Craftworld Dalorsia were ousted from their Craftworld centuries before the "current" timeline of my Secret War fanfic continuity (I should update Secret War: Upon Blood Sands soon) by a huge force of Slaaneshi cultists led by the Emperor's Children, so yeah. Thinking of separating my Dire Avengers squads into six six-man squads instead of four ten-man squads as I might not have enough for the four ten-man ones and it'd be pretty cool having two six squads riding around in my new Wave Serpent in battles.

Are you sure? My FLGS got new GW sprays in just over a week ago, I got some new Chaos Black that had been out of stock for a while. I know I’m in Ireland but if it’s an EU labelling thing we should be under the same rules as you?

Several stores have now said same to me.
Could be ireland being the reason. Either them applying bit looseness to restrictions(funny that eu countries do have own control) or special uk-ireland deal that predates eu? Ireland passport is now rather valuable as well for example as irish people have more freedom to move and work among eu and uk than just eu/uk people? Maybe same applies to some goods?
Or stores here misunderstood and there's another reason why they aren't allowed to order more. Either way we(the customers) were told it might take up to 2 months before situation clears.
I'm a bit in a creative slump now. I assembled and mounted on new 32mm bases some old, all-metal Thousand Sons, painted an old school fantasy unit (some ghosts, so very fast to do) and now I'm struggling to get anything else going.
I took out some Tyranids monsters as they might be next. Took out my Harpy and an old Armorcast monster for now that I need to mount on a base. They might be the next target.
More work on the five remaining models of my 3rd Dire Avengers squad painting up their Shuriken Catapaults and arms holding them and finished shading the blue on the armour on their bodies. Also pinned my Guardian emplacement, too!
Haven't got too far off now. Might begin assembling my new Farseer and Autarch on jetbike soon.
Built the shield arms/shields for 3 units of AoS Marauders.
It'll be easier to paint the figures & their shields separately, then attach them all, than attach now & try and paint underneath/behind/around.
Been mostly doing prep for my Rogue Trader session I'm running this Saturday, the PCs are about to take part in a large Void battle that involves seven NPC ships (two who are allies of the PCs) And many are going to shoot torpedoes and I'm trying to set it up that my brain won't leak out of my ears during the session from all the crap I have to keep up with and a very likely chance they'll be boarded by boarding torpedoes and drop-ships. But I just did some more work on the unfinished half of my 3rd squad of Dire Avengers, fixed up the shuriken catapults and high-lighted them as well as the guns of my 2nd squad. Felt I was ready to glue up the five but found I'd run out of plastic glue.
Not too much today, in all honesty, had my Rogue Trader session so that took a few hours, it was even harder to run than I expected, been a long while since I ran a large void battle and forgot to look over the starship rules beforehand besides how torpedoes work...
Uhh, glued the non-gun arms onto the remaining 5 Dire Avengers of my 3rd squad with the new glue I bought today. Base coated my Autarch's power sword with...Caledor blue? And my exarch's power glaive as well. I wish to paint them with that awesome powerfield effect some time soon. I also posed one of my Dire Avengers so it looks like he's about to throw a plasma grenade. I'm really happy with him.
Building some D&D Icewind Dale papercraft terrain as a test for a future game.
I want to put an entire town on the board - without spending a fortune or having to do a lot of actual terrain building.
This D&D stuff might work....
Been a bit of an annoying day, managed to spill almost all of my Ultramarines Blue contrast paint while doing the low lights on my 3rd Dire Avengers squad. Also tried to paint a powerfield onto my metal Autarch's power sword using some tutorials but using just my blues on the Youtubes and I frigged it up. Made the mistake of thinning my Ulthuan Grey for high lights with Lahriman Medium, but the results were...interesting...I don't think I hate it as much as I thought I would.
Put down the first layer of flesh on my Helbrute for the monthly challenge. Currently looking horrible, need to get all the base coats down properly before I lose the will to live.
Tonight I have to paint my Transcendent Catan.
Or at least start.
The joke is that my models must earn thier paint. They definitely earned their paint this evening.
Building the really cheap for a reason vikings from warlord games. Wish I had seen that they were the old Wargames factory models before I ordered. Couldn’t even give them away in our local community.
Been trying to assemble my cool looking but Fail Cast Autarch on Jet Bike. I ordered him online naively thinking he was plastic, but alas...
Also mostly assembled my new Farseer which...I didn't do too well as there's a big gap in his cloak. Also my 2nd Exarch of my 1st DA squad at I'd like the option to have the squad separated into two six-man squads and the fact that the paint keeps coming off due to base painting it with Imperial Primer.
Finished my hellblasters, all except for some transfers that I couldn’t get to stick. They’ve been in my garage so maybe they’re just old. And finished the bases for my inceptors.
Finished assembling 15 Termagants with Spinefists. Wanted to get some of those for variety purpose and used the leftover from my other units and some rescue to built them.
Finally managed to assemble my Autarch on Jet Bike. Also painted the bases of most of my already painted Eldar with that basing paint stuff, which turned out to be less of a pain than I thought it'd be. One of the dudes at GW suggested I make my Eldar look like when they're fighting in their Craftworld against Slaaneshi enemies before they eventually get ousted and I thought that was a damn good idea, so making their bases with Wraithbone coloured ruins. Also using the bird statues you get in the Dire Avengers box set and going to have them broken, full of bullet holes on a few bases of my characters such as my Autarch. Hmm could use a few Chaos Marine heads and such too, maybe...
Began painting my Skyrunner Autarch, two old school jetbikes, a Skyrunner Guardian and the 2nd exarch for my 1st Dire Avenger squad. I actually took the plunge and painted the face (including the eyes) of the Skyrunner Autarch, who may or may not be Autarch Raloth Arlyandor (Master Autarch above the others) as he was a Shining Spear and a Dire Avenger before following the Path of Command. His face it's...intense, he looks scary, actually, I wouldn't want to mess with him. I'm one of the weirdos who paints eyebrows to the face and I'm glad I did as it really added to it. He's also pale as frig which makes him look a bit scarier too lol
Did quite a bit more painting on my Skyrunner Autarch, armour high lights and fixing his face a bit. I'm pretty happy with him so far. And a bit more work on the new Exarch.
Painting stormcast. In 2.5 week looks to be having 6k game so try to get all main colours and bases done for all. Smaller details and last highlights can wait.
6k will be nuts. But got to try it once when another player took me on my note that i could play 6k. (well 7.5k with pure stormcast. More with lumineth allies that i have 3.2k)
Accidentally snapped my Skyrunner Autarch's star lance while trying to straighten it. I tried to stick it back with superglue but it refused to stick so I pinned it and it worked a charm. I was spitting and cursing Fine Cast the whole time lol. I'm hoping the new Eldar Codex will get a new plastic range of models so I don't have to deal with Fine Cast often again.

I'd nearly consider telling you to hold off buying anything new for your Eldar as I'd say a range revamp is on the horizon. Although I must admit I've been saying that for years...
Played an initial game of War Cry this evening.
Pretty good game. I imagine once I read the rules & find out what we did wrong/skipped/missed vs relying on my buddy who was teaching the game {and had clearly just skimmed the material} that it'll be even better.
My job was model assembly. 100%
His was reading the rules & teaching the rest of us. About 70%

Seeing there's not even rumour engine pics that hint at eldar's if he holds off he's looking quite likely holding off for years though...

I'm hoping you're right this time! I'm doing that with the Eldar codex, waiting for the 9th edition one if I get into 40k as I'm playing or at least trying to play Kill Team for now.
Perhaps GW are playing a long term gambit to make Eldar players so desperate for models after years and years so when they finally release them they'll get so much money, too much money. They might've "tested" the waters for it with their $105.00 NZD five-woman box of Howling Banshees? Could be.
Anyway back OT worked a bit more on my Skyrunner Autarch and glued his laser lance arm on. Still gotta paint his lance, and flags, not looking forward to freehanding the symbols on the flags, but it'll be a challenge I'm sure.

The fact that we've seen Jain Zar and her Banshees, I would disagree. There is no way studio designers just do one small part of a faction and drop it there.
I expect prices for the minis to come will be along the same lines Adrassil, although a lot of Eldar is pretty cheap on eBay if you didn't mind an older force for cheaper.
On topic, stripped a bunch of models last night, will be giving some another dunk later on.

Jetbikes were pretty much that. Were done early 2000's, were sitting around for about decade and then released.
Big entire range revamp is actually rare for GW. Smaller parts here and there is more common. Especially for non-marines. Other factions tend to have to wait for time in starter set for big revamp.
Working on my monthly contest entry. Employing the combination of my NMM and OSL "skils", such as they are.
I also got a couple of packages today of terrain supplies and various tools that I ordered a while back. I totally forgot about one of them. Now I have to either remember what I was going to do with them, or figure something else out.
Later this evening I need to start actual pait work on a unit of skeletons.
Modern skeletons have soon much more detail than those of yesteryear (including Tomb Kings)!
More Dungeon terrain to add to my pile of Dungeon terrain. I have another box of Mantic stuff as well as two blisters of Wizkids terrain and some Azyrite ruins I want to work on next before maybe going back to some minis....unless I get on a REAL terrain high
Working more on stormcast. Almost got 5.4k painted to level that looks ready. Will then have 2 weeks to finish as many as i can. Also need 3 aetherwings and comet endless spell.
6k army lined up(600pts allies) ought to look great even at this stage.
Played 3 games of aos, painted models and locked army list and lined up models for 6k game vs skaven. Their battleline alone outnumbers my whole army...
Yes that all will be used in one game. 142 models.
Finished my Sanguinary Priest and fairly happy with him. I can never quite get whites to go on smoothly, some of the model is great and some parts have a grain to them that will bug me (but probably won’t be noticed by anyone else). Waiting on the base to dry before I glue him on, started a couple of Death Company marines while I’m waiting.
Made this skeleton mage from the Oathmark kit, reshaping a left hand from the one normally intended to hold the shield, right hand is from the banner pole option with added skull form the same sprue. I also added scrolls from Wizards 2 kit.
I was able to get hold of a decent Ikea Detolf cabinet from Facebook Marketplace* for £10. Slight bit of peeling on some of the veneer but perfect to show off my Tzeench Daemons, in varying degrees of completion.
I still have 2 Burning Chariots and a couple other odds and ends to finish off, but they go very nicely with my Thousand Sons on the shelf below. Click the link in my sig to find out more
*Seriously, you can get some decent furniture and stuff on here, give it a go.
Painting last actual stormcasts(leaving 3 aetherwings and 1 gryph hound) for 6k game to this semi painted leven. Once mentioned 4 models done to same level can start to finish up the 70 or so have done past two weeks
Well, I'm pleased with how my metallic Green & metallic Yellow C'Tans have turned out.
So, after dinner tonight I'll finish chroming Transcendent C'Tan #3 & then once it's dried apply a light purple sheen to it.
And then I need to do a Battle-Tech mini inventory & consolidate them.
As I clean out the storage room I keep coming across more cheap craft boxes full of mechs. I'd thought I'd accounted for all of them the other day. Evidently not....
Not today but over a few days, I tried to glue together three of my eight old school metal Harlequins. The Troupemaster didn't have the stuck to connect him to his tactical rock so I put a pin through his base and stuck him on it like that (I have another one which has all the parts, though) Repainted the bases with base texture paint as it looked a bit...sparse, they seem a bit better now. Painted the face of my 2nd Exarch of my 1st Dire Avengers squad, pretty happy with how he turned out, thinking of painting his hair blond or maybe even white. Then painted the base of my Autarch with wraithbone base paint and a bit of blue.
All my Harlequins have blades or chainswords and fusion pistols so I might have to buy more for more equipment options. I realised I can make four Kill Teams from four different factions. Chaos from the Officio Assassinorum: Execution Force board game, Harlequins, Eldar and Dark Angels. Wondering if I could get some terrain and try to play it with my flatmate using my miniatures, that'd be pretty cool.
I have continued my work on the simple terrain (made from the tree from Conquest Jotnar and Oathmark bases) by fulfiling the gaps using cut to pieces Oathmark bases melted with Revell glue, and making a silhouette of the base to look more ''natural''.
Painting the bases of my 1st Dire Avenger squad, wraithbone base paint. Most of my six-man Striking Scorpions squad and my Autarch then began dry brushing on Terminus Stone in preparation for my game of Kill Team against my cousin...today. Of course got a lot of wraithbone on the legs of my models (made sure to thin the hell out of it with water, which was easy enough to fix. My SSs will be a bit more of a challenge, though) Also tried to paint a pupil of the 2nd DA Exarch, it's...okay. As the great Shrek once said: "That'll do Donkey. That'll do." For now at least. Also, fixed up some paint splats, or at least I think they're paint splats on my Autarch's wings. Valkian Aralian, Autarch of Dalorsia, leader of the Dalorsian infiltration group, alongside a Farseer who I haven't thought the name of yet.
Finished another 26 stormcast. I might actually get 6k painted by next saturday for epic game vs skaven. Seeing start of march it was more like 2.2k(some not even used in 6k game) good result
Today I need to:
1) apply the purple sheen to Transcendent C'Tan #3
2) prime & chrome the Void Dragon C'Tan
3) make them a foam tray
4) finish up some notes for a Sigmar campaign
5) finish up some notes for an upcoming D&D session.
Optional) get some assembly & piming started on a Chaos Dwarf army I recently acquired.
Recutting and repacking my Fyreslayers KR foam to fit into 2 GW cases.
Rearranging my Tau cases as I just picked up some flyers.
Totally redoing my Astra Militarum cases to allow for a custom Tallarn force and 3 new vehicles, including a rather lovely (I think) Chimera command tank made by Archon Studio, the 'Wolverine' tank.
Re-arranging my painted Harlequins, Space Wolves and Idoneth armies in cabinets to allow room for... well more something.
Checking out Detolf / Argos cabinets & sources of extra shelves & lighting so I can maybe display my aforementioned Astra Militarum forces... if they'll even fit!
Not much today, in all honesty. Tried to wash the traces of crap off my Angaran Chronicles Hero Forge minis I made the mistake of priming and not washing beforehand and stuck some arms that'd fallen off a couple of my Dire Avengers when I went into town to play Kill Team Commanders with my cousin yesterday. A little deflated as the Autarch I spent so many hours painting was useless in that game and died in the most anti-climactic way possible and it was all my dumb fault lol Learned a lot from that game, though!
Finishing up more stormcast putting completed models this month to 65(mind you biggest work was done last month. Not 65 models start to finish in 5 days ).
Just 2 ballista and crew and 6k list all painted. Pretty sure i can do that for saturday's game...
Adrassil wrote: Oh by the Emperor that'll be a challenge, mate. Good luck! And looking good.
Thanks!
And I'll be "cheating" / "playing it safe" by doing not just big models for this challenge. Chances are the Og may be the biggest one of the bunch.
Laaaaaaaate last night, due to insomnia, I've finished an Imperial Guard veteran with shotgun, along with a Steel Legion officer just now. I had hoped to batch paint three Steel Legion models, but the movie I watched proved to be more entertaining than anticipated.
Crappy picture, due to potato quality of my ancient iPad and well, bad weather going on right now, we's got snow.
But that's 3/24 done, hopefully tomorrow I'll get the Steel Legion sergeant and trooper done as well. After that, a more detailed or somewhat complex model to even out the bulk painting.
Milliput Monday! Added more bits to my Death Guard Rhino for this month’s painting challenge. Small but more to do tomorrow and then hopefully can prime when wind calms down.
Tried to primer spray a few miniatures, including my Hero Forge minis of Anargrin and Raleas from the Angaran Chronicles. Thought I frigged up due to the surfaces seeming lumpy, so quit. But after a while, they turned out fine, except for one which I began painting today and he's alright so far.
Currently painting a "Blood Tower" (special terrain back in Fantasy 8th edition). I built it ages ago based on the Dreadstone tower with some work made to match the idea of the scenery from the book, but was never painted. So the tower is al painted now and working with Blood for the Blood God and water effect, hopefully it'll look decent in the end!
Base coated 6 bondi warriors for ravens feast. Once they are done, I only need to build and paint another dozen (6 for each warband) and that project is done.
I've managed to get the sergeant and trooper done:
Ignore the guy on the left, he was painted up a while ago and he's just there to round out the fire team photo op. And holy gak, the face on the sergeant looks BAD now that I see him digitally. Will need to retouch that one asap.
But as is, that's 5/24 done. Next up, something with a bit more detail or the like, maybe a classic metal Commissar with sword and fist or the fat Cadian.
Building 3 Lumineth ballista & trying to figure out R/L arms for some chaos dwarves.
Edit: Holy Gak are these ballista fine & spindly things. There is NO margin for error on these. One slip of the blade, any tiny excess of glue, & you'll have $60 worth of junk.....
Made some changes (again ) to 2 Frostgrave female wizards. Turned one into some gorgon like/possesed mad fury by replacing both arms and her head. Second one also got a new head, and to further differentiate it from the identical body on another wizard (you get 2 identical sprues of 4 bodies in the box) I removed a pouch sculpted there and replaced it with one of the bags from the sprue.
Been trying to paint the face of my Hero Forge Anargrin model and it's...hard. Tried twice and will a third. Using the method of albino skin taught by the great Duncan and I think I'm doing it rightish but he looks weird.
I did a number of things, finished some GW scatter terrain given to me by a member of my gaming group. Got the first layer of dark blue on my three Shining Spears. Also started on four more metal Orlocks.
Migraine during the day wiped me out so ended up catching up with work this evening when I should have been painting. Watched a movie and built some lists on Battlescribe though, three Crusade armies planned.
A lot of building. I assembled and primed both armies from the soul wars AoS. Then played a first blood skirmish against myself. I also primed a base for my warp lightning cannon, and assembled a grey seer.
Love the Warlocks! Have a bunch to do myself, maybe soon!
Otherwise I'm still doing the water effect on my tower, giving plenty of time to dry between layers. As a side project, I painted an Eldar Dreadnought and working on a War Walker right now (both old metal version, and first out of 3 for each). I'm baffled at not being able to recreate the bases I made for my other Eldar not so long ago, but doing the best I can for now. Putting the grass and aquatic foliage should match them fairly well enough once it's all done.
Played whopping 6k game of aos(pleasant surprise how little game broke when neither playei maxed out with guns and magic) and continued paieting bloodreavers. 40 got skins done
Just finished my third attempt at my Anargrin's mini's face and this time he looks better. Gotta paint the pupils in his eyes but leaving that stage for later.
Jeremiah Kraye. Cygnar/wmh
2 x houseguard rifleman officers. Retribution. Wmh.
5 x houseguard riflemen. Retribution. Wmh.
The Iron Golem warband box. AOS/Warcry.
Just completed:
4 x houseguard stormfall archers. Retribution. Wmh.
Epic Caine. Cygnar. Wmh.
3 x them bloodtracker conversions for Untamed beasts. AOS/Warcry.
Got some Stirland Battlemire to try on my Eldar I'm working on, I'm really stumped at how I did the color on my previous bases and Stirland Mud alone was not cutting it (to flat, drybrush made it too light as a result), so maybe the Battlemire will help, but who know!
Oh and picked up a Cursed City box too Guess that's what I wanna do next!
Finished building my 3rd Lumineth Ballista to complete my battery warscroll.
Between these & several characters I've now built 9 elves & 3 ballista/quivers - & I'm 100% tired of dealing with tiny spindly elf bitz....

At least you can build them. Here we are still waiting lumineth to arrive.
Myself finished 40 blood reavers putting total of month to 131 completed models breaking my record yet still need to paint 83 to keep my goal this year(paint as many as bought in month as bare minimum)
Finished my Azyrite ruins, now Working on the last of my prep pile before I finally buckle down and finish a project. I have too many boxed games unfinished that I want to get done.
Painting the many rivets on a Land Raider Crusader, touching up details then working on the crewman hanging out with a Multi-Melta and the big ol' search light on the top.
Me yesterday: "I've now built 9 elves & 3 ballista/quivers - & I'm 100% tired of dealing with tiny spindly elf bitz...."
And so of course tonight I find myself assembling 5 Vanari Bladelords.
They weren't originally in my build plans for this week, but a friend doesn't have time to get his unit of them built for our team game tomorrow evening. So we'll be using my unit. A combined 2k of elves vs 2k of orks at the FLGS.
Almost finished assembling my Harlequins wish I didn't have to use one of the already assembled heads so I might ask my cousin if he has an extra one for he has Harlequins as well. I am very happy with how I posed them and might take photos of them and post them here tomorrow.
Starting on painting my last 3 models for the Shadow Wind Clan in Bushido and King Kondo and General Hondo for Monsterpocalypse. Getting back into painting by hitting the backlog in some places I've wanted to for a while to pick up the mojo again
I had a slight fixing of my Anargrin mini's face; he looks a lot better now. He looked cute, like a koala or something, which wasn't what I was going for as he's meant to be a badass sorta James Bond Expy (in one scene of my novel, he infiltrates a bad guy's party using the alias "Jerrick Bane", then manipulates the bad guy's daughter to get close to their enemy) So cute isn't what he should look like lol. He also painted the highlights and low lights of his blue shirt. I painted his pants with Wraithbone or beige as he's usually wearing a Beige two-piece suit with a blue pinstriped shirt and navy blue tie. Sorta his signature look. Not sure if I should use Seraphim Sepia for low-lights as it's for stone, it seems. It doesn't matter, really, does it?
Finished King Kondo for Monsterpocalypse and 2 Karapan for Bushido, putting last touches on my last ninja for Bushido and starting work on the Republic Specialists for Legion
Just finished assembling my Howling Banshee Exarch and one Howling Banshee which was pretty fun for a more diverse Kill Team roster. Hoping to primer spray them and my Harlequins tomorrow as the forecast claims it'll be nice. Hopefully.
Bases, bases, bases. The way i do chaos need base done before can glue model to it and hate to paint model separate from ba#e so need bases for tzeentc/ done asap
It was a cold day today, so thought it'd be bad weather to primer spray my minis, but went ahead and did it and yeah they turned out fine. I sprayed most of my Harlequins, fixed up my Vindicare Assassin, my Space Marine champion I posted the photo of earlier and my Howling Banshee Exarch and one Howling Banshee. Happy I finally got it done. Playing Kill Team with my cousin tomorrow and it'll be nice to try out having a Howling Banshee Exarch fighting with my Dire Avenger Exarch and Striking Scorpion Exarch. My Sriking Scorpion Exarch did a good amount of heavy lifting in my last game, utterly slaughtering one of my cousin's DA termies in close combat with his Scorpion's Claw. But the MVP was my heavy weapons platform that slew most of his men with its missile launcher. Also, it made him play overly cautious. I lost only because I was an idiot with my Autarch and thought he had 4 wounds not 5 total lol
Just tested my Harlequin Troupe's colour scheme black, warp stone green, silver and Snarsnik green highlights and purple and red boots, looks pretty good. I think I'm making my Harlequins more space-ninjas rather than space-clowns.
Been working on a 2nd Harlequin for my colour scheme test, using my old metal ones before going onto my new, nice plastic Harlequins. Here are a few photos, sorry about the bad quality of light etc... :/
Just been working on brainstorming movement rules for my own Table Top Skirmish game for my Angaran Chronicles setting. Been playing Kill Team for weeks now as research for it and playing a demo of War Cry today for more research. My game is going to have an emphasis on character customisation with points build, but the stronger the character is, the more expensive they'll be in-game, as well as traits etc. Like a combination of a P&P RPG and a TT Skrimish game. It's going to be interesting to balance lol.
Thinking it could also have an expansion or something for a 1v1 Roleplaying game. Where the PC plays one character in their group and makes the other characters who are a part of it (or the GM makes them or they both make them) And the GM runs them and the enemies and such outside battle. Then there'll be more stats added for non-combat skills then etc. It's all based off the rules for a tactical C-RPG my friend and I were making back in 2010. It was going to be a combination of Fire Emblem and a classic C-RPG such as Dragon Age. It fell through, but we did a crap ton of world-building on Angara in the process and those rules were a great jump-off point for this game.
I built some stuff. Clippers, scraper, and glue work.
The KDM Echoes of Death 3 series, some scatter terrain, and a couple post-apoc figs from Anvil Minis.
Paint tomorrow!
Base coated my Harlequins and had a demo game of War Cry at my GW today, had fun and won by the skin of my teeth. It was a nice different game to play for my research of my own Skirmish game.
●This evening I'll find out just how much /how fast I'll have to get stuff painted up for our coming Escalation League.
Atm I've got 500pts worth of LoN ready to go....
Just have to finish the last highlights on some Pistoliers before moving on to some Goblin Wolf riders. They've been sitting half-painted for the last 2 years and I want them off my table.
Also making movement trays for the pile of Empire Handgunners I have lying around.
Trying to
A) Make a decent Legion of Nagash force now that I know the restrictions/requirements for our upcoming escalation League,
B) Find a color for bone that I'm happy with once applied to masses of skeletons vrs just a few/one offs.
Still working on building my Cursed City models. Skeletons are clipped off and ready for cleaning (following the instruction orders, so only swarms and objectives/tokens left after that).
Also mostly done with my Blood Tower, water effect should be as dry as it can i guess now so I thin I will be ready for the final assembly.
Edit: Oh yeah, and starting to dabble into 3D printing too. Had my printer for a few weeks, but finally got it set up in a separate room and everything so I can use it. Spend good amount of time working on that too (test prints, lots of failure, messing with 3D models, etc)!
Realized won't have much to paint tomorrow. Don't want to start anything with monday new project starting. Think i'll take day off. With over 200 models finished april think i deserve day off
Finished the last 6 Poxwalkers I had. The immense sense of satisfaction of having all 16 done and off my pile of shame was great until I remembered I bought 20 more earlier in the week and I’ll be back painting maggots and pus again very soon. At the very least, I varnished all my DG and totted then up what I have and I’m at 25 PL so it’s my first Crusade force ready for whenever games start up again. It’s only 475 points so will work on another few Poxwalkers to bring me up closer to that.
Trying to stick an Inceptor to his flight stand...
... and failing.
It's all painted (well, Battle Ready, if you call that painted) and just needs sticking to the flight stand so I can take pics and post in the Dakka Painting Challenge.
1st tube of superglue was rock solid so now in the bin. Gorilla superglue gel was mostly solid but managed to scrape some out of the bottle, although that failed to stick. Probably heading to the bin in a minute.
About to open a new tube of superglue and try again...
Superglues start going "off" as soon as you open them. Tubes are single use for the most part. No more than a couple of days.
Humidity and atmospheric moisture are catalysts for the reaction that cures superglue (it's why 'blowing on it' accelerates the curing) and as soon as you open it, you introduce extra moisture into the bottle/tube.
Began my Hero Forge Raleas Effernetti model from my Angaran Chronicles series. Pretty happy with her, it didn't take me like three times to get her face right as it did with my Anargrin model (new paint mix, possibly?) I'm painting them up as I wish to use them for playtesting my Skirmish combat system soon. I was given a whole lot of terrain from a board game from an old workmate from years ago and I'm looking forward to playtesting it with it. It's sci-fi and my setting is Dark Fantasy/Diesel Punk but it's just proxying. Also, it might be dwarven buildings or whatever who were quite advanced technologically speaking before they were conquered and enslaved by humanity.
Didn't get as much painting as I wanted done last week but I did manage to get this guy off my paint table. I really dislike painting horses but for some reason this guy came out waaaay easier then I remember. Which is good because I have to repaint the rest of my Pistolier unit as well as complete a unit for my Cities of Sigmar army.
Next up is a bunch of Wolf Riders I had base coated back in 2017 and am now going to finish.
Years ago I painted my space hulk (3rd edition)!marines in tan and gave them a wash to bring out the details. Past few days I have been using red contrast paint to upgrade them. They look much better in red and the contrast paint is making the work a lot less drudgery.
Finished the last three Shining Spears. These three had to be made for various parts (like Guardian bits, 3rd party lances, old Jetbike rider legs, etc.).
Assembled 4 stegadons(which had been started yesterday) all but riders, 1 bastiladon same and 1 bastiladon close behind. today will complete bastiladon and start assembling 2 more stegs and 1 more bastiladon
Finalized my undead list for our impending Escalation League. Well, at least the 1st two weeks worth of stuff....
I've got my opening 500 pts & the first 250 pt expansion sitting on the desk awaiting painting over the next few days.
Painted my Harlequins a bit more up while watching It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia with my dad hoping to get them done soonish for the Kill Team League.
Finished the simple terrain made from the second part of the tree from the Conquest Jotnar kit, and Oathmark skellies bases. It needs to be painted of course
Started hacking up some Plague Marines to make some Possessed. I hate the official Possessed models so I have to get creative with Milliput. Also doing a bit of painting on my entry for this month’s challenge.
I'm painting some 2mm stuff right now I've seen a guy attempting 1mm. I think it was strips of velcro drybrushed in the regiment colours and small banners stuck on top.
Assembling Krieg models. I haven't done anything gaming related for ages and these poor fellows have been languishing in a box on the shelf. Sadly, I have 30 or so Krieg Death Riders to assemble as well.
Made a start painting the Silent King, having finally grabbed some Grey Seer spray.
Undercoat done, and first contrast colour on. Seriously thinking of switching to the airbrush for the next couple of colours though, as got lots of crooks and nannies which are a paint with a brush.
Again, more work on my Harlequins and almost finished them. Had a Kill Team Commanders game this past Sunday for the KT league at my GW, played against Custodes for the first time with my Eldar, they cut through my poor Eldar like butter and my terrible rolling, still managed to win by some sneaky tactics with the objectives and my luck managing to turn around in the last turn which turned out to be the most important turn so far. And my Striking Scorpions Exarch almost managed to kill the Shield-Captain in one turn with his Scorpion's Claw, he then died, but he died in honour. Was a very fun game indeed.
Started priming my Cursed City models, then should be able to start painting them!
Also printed more stuff for my Nids including a test mini (first small scale printing). They are finishing curing under the non-existant sun for now (it's cloudy and rainy here, yay!).
Punching tiny holes out of cardboard to make tiny rivets on different cardboard.
Super time consuming and frustrating gluing it all to my fingers.
This little building is going to look sweet, though.
About to search my local Walmarts etc for cheep Hotwheel car scale road construction signs/scenery.
Edit: Well that was a bust.
If I took and combined ALL the toy aisles from my two local Walmarts + my two local Targets?
I'd have one poorly stocked stores worth of stuff....
Clearly restocking toys hasn't been a concern (or possible) over the past year.
(And of course my local hobby shops didn't have any in their train sections. But I knew that already)
Built 5 more Wargames Factory Vikings. That leaves only 7 more to build to be done with the kit.
After that will be the painting part which is slightly less annoying. So 12 models total out of a box of 32 to be finally completed with this project.
I've forced myself to paint these lousy minis as a reinforcement lesson in not wasting money on impulse purchases (I was infatuated with Raven Feast when I saw it on YouTube).
