Taking pics of loads of Warhammer Conquest models that I will never get round to. Time to reduce the pile of shame and fund a new Custodes army that I definitely will get round to. This time. Honestly.
Haven't decided on eBay or Facebook Groups yet. FB quicker and cheaper but potentially more hassle...
40K: Painted up a few more Talos/Cronos bits & pieces.
AoS/RPG: Got Galen Ven Denst painted.
RPG: Got tomorrow nights D&D session outlined. Now hopefully the session runs....
Not exactly the most robust things in the world, so getting the angle of how they cross over was kind of guesswork, and given that they meet at his body and the skull thing, you do need to get them right first try.
I got it together in the end, but it wasn't like the Ophydian kit which looks complicated, but is actually very easy with everything fitting exactly where it's meant to go with no ambiguity.
Got 99% finished with Doralia Ven Denst.
Every bit is painted, finished, & assembled - except her head. That slipped out of my fingers, bounced across the work desk, & disappeared down behind amongst all the cords. :(
It's late, so finding the wayward bit will have to wait for tomorrow.
Those mechs are very cool Privateer4hire, I like the camo scheme.
I am working on finishing off a set of 1st edition/Rogue Trader terminators for the original Space Hulk set. A commander, Assault Cannon and few other marines and that will be two complete squads.
These are the other guys I have already finished: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/595409.page

First mini of the year done! Decided I'm going to finish my Stormcast which I have had since 1st Edition AoS. As you can imagine I'm a bit backed up at the moment. Its mostly based around the first starter set which I still have still on sprue. Hopefully I can clear it out provided I don't get distracted...
I was also planning of hitting this guy with a Matte Varnish but, apparently, the nozzle on my spray can is clogged and I cant seem to clear it. Looks like I'll have to hit up my FLG as not only do I need another can, but my old pot of Mithril silver is finally dried out and I cant salvage it.
Sorted Magic cards - Beta to Fallen Empires in one binder, Ice Age up to Scourge in another (this is a bit misleading as after Mercadian Masques the cards I have from the pre-Modern sets are slim pickin's), white rares in another binder, red rares in another, same with green, blue and black, then artifacts and lands in another binder and mythics and multi-colored cards in another binder. Obviously the cards in my Modern decks (Amulet Titan, Eldrazi Tron, Merfolk, and Mill) and my Vintage deck stay out the binders.
Once these are sorted then will finish sorting my Middle-Earth CCG cards, then my Star Trek CCG cards (which I am dreading in a way, that is going to take long), then my Legend of the Five Rings CCG cards, and then my Doomtown CCG cards. The Star Wars CCG stuff I will sell, the other CCGs (Netrunner, Dune, Mythos, Jyhad/Vampire etc) will remain in their respective boxes for now.
Played & won this weeks Crusade match.
Base coated/primed a whole bunch of misc. stuff.
Painted all the tiny bitz of another Cronos.
Finished updating the paperwork involved in the Crusade.
Doing final highlights on a squad of Deathshroud Terminators. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel with my Death Guard. I have 5 Blightlord Terminators, 1 Malignant Plaguecaster, a couple of Plague Marines, 2 Bloat Drones, 2 Plagueburst Crawlers, Mortarion, and about 40 Poxwalkers to go. Then I can work on 6 Scarab Occult Terminators, 20 Rubric Marines, an Infernal Master, 2 Arhiman, 3 Exalted Sorcerers, and Magnus for my Thousand Sons. Then onto a bunch of terrain while I wait for Eldar and CSM get new books.
Now basing more old metal Necromunda and 40K figures on new 25mm bases (as most came without bases or the bases were damaged when removing the model for cleaning).
I'm done with my last 5 Scorpions, no more aspects for me! (Until I cave in and buy more from Artel W...)
In the mean time, preparing more Eldar to paint; 10 Guardians 3D printed (now primed), 2 metal War Walker, 5 Rangers, and 2 Autarch (Artel W Phoenix Lord stand-in that I'm gonna use as Autarch that match the Scorpion and Banshee).
Being rather lazy hobby wise having been reading books but have almost finished assembling 3 boxes worth of fyreslayers in fury&deep and 2 of their SC's.
Painting battletech mechs. About a star of clan and a lance of inner sphere and I plan on being done for a good long time.
Also drybrushed base layer on my last 10 Oathmark goblins. That will leave only about 10 stargrave models on sprues and I am waiting on the female versions before I mess with them.
Built a new wall-mount vertical paint rack out of a breakfast tray and some wall corner guards - turned out pretty good and doing a second one for dropper bottles. Also assembling some Eldar after a lot of excitement over the new releases....
Today I have to:
• See how long it takes to fully paint up a base or two of infantry for Black Powder 15mm Epic Battles.
• Then I have to do a few more iterations with additional bases & cut that paint time down to something that A) I still like, B) won't take me forever to replicate on dozens & dozens of future bases.
It's been a good while since I've had a chance to do anything but my son has just started to take a real interest in my hobby. He's taken a shine to anything Lord of the Rings and also Chaos Dwarfs. So I dug out my old LotR stuff. He's been helping assemble and base some Rohan cavalry whilst I've been rescuing a damaged mumak
Building a Lokhust Destroyer.
Then continuing a Destroyer re-hab project - fixing busted flight stands & replacing missing green rods on some 2nd hand Lokhusts.
Painted my Guardian, and also painted some unplanned Tyranids (a single 2nd editionTyranid Warrior and a Prime made of the metal Rogue Trader Warrior).
Made a list for past weekend games and those 2 Tyranids where amongst the only thing left unpainted (that and a squad of 30 Hormagaunt that'll stay gray after their performance!), so I jumped in and painted them before the game!
I've started on 2 metal War Walker now, but also doing some slight work on a friend's model to help them (like some magnet and greenstuff work)
Working on 5 Blightlord Terminators, then trying to decide if I should keep painting my Death Guard(since they'll be shelved soon), or hop over and paint the 40ish Thousand Sons I have, or start painting my craftworlds again since I'll be playing them when the new codex drops.
Cursing the Necrons Warriors from the Imperium magazine...
Why are the arms not swappable?
They've clearly deliberately added to the pegs to make them only fit certain torsos!
Should of been basecoating them by now.
Hope to heck that the heads are swappable because they're off the sprue now...
Starting to repain 15mm archers and crossbowmen that have a worn paint job that wasn't great of begin with.
These are the last batch of repaints for my Medieval German army; which only has some halberdiers and dismounted knights to paint and flags to attach left before I call it done.
Finished putting together some Assault Intercessors for my Space Wolves. Also put more paint down on Celeborn and Galadriel for my Lothlorien Middle Earth army.
Finally finished the last 3 Liberators for a unit I started back during the first edition of the game. I have 1000pt list I want to get done and I might just buckle down and complete all the loose Stormcast I have lying around just to get a decently sized army done.
Today after work I should edit these two videos I filmed and upload them but I can do that at the end of the week. I have a few days where I can sort of work on whatever.
Actually now that I think of it, I might work on building some Tyranids...
I want to paint up a Hierophant Biotitan in a few weeks but before that I think I'll try and paint a few squads of bugs. Nothing too monotonous but nothing too wild... I have no desire to paint a Flyrant/huge winged creature but I think I'll actually build some gaunts or a carnifex.
Spent the last 2 days finishing off enough of my Yan Lo crew that it's ready to be played in this weekend's leg of the local slow grow, but also pushing ahead and trying to get the rest of the crew done as well. I also finished the 3 Batman models I got from Black Friday to keep me at fully painted.
Just finished relieving my bank account of some spare funds. With prices soon to rise there wasn't any better time to get around to filing that FW order....
Finished painting some Retributors that have been half-painted on my desk for over a year. Now to finish one more dude for the unit and I'm well on my way to finish project #1 or the year
Finally magnetizing my Talos/Cronos forces bases for easier transport.
You'd think I would've done this way sooner than near the end of the project.....
I'm heading to my FLGS to buys some bits, if they have it.
And only the stuff on my list...
...Nothing else...
...No matter how appealing GSC vehicles are...
...or a Valkyrie...
I spent a couple of hours taking pictures of the feudal world Imperial Guard army I started during lockdown. It it not fully painted as there are several squads left to go before the brigade is complete, but considerable progress has been made. Then added some of the photos to my P&M thread.
I've been making use of various models that have been hanging around in the pile of shame, in some cases for decades.
I spent over 2 hours cutting out and putting shield + barding decals on my knights. I hate it all. The decals don't quite fit the shields. Getting the barding decals fit on the cloth folds is a massive pain. I tried one surcoat decal and gave up on them.
Sally 4th started today their “Goblin Civil War” miniatures and ruleset KS, inspired by the Spanish Civil War (!), so I figure I’d post some of their “old school” Cafe Americana miniatures, based on various movies you can ask your grandpa about.
Eyes were “painted” with a 005 pen, and I fiddled with blacklining either with Secret Weapons Miniatures grey Concrete, or a 005 pen. Wasn’t sure if I should have used sidewalk or flooring for the bases, so left them black.
Not exactly Warhammery but you can see how a 005 pen worked for blacklining vs. a grey wash for the figures in white. Figures in grey have a black wash for blacklining. Mebbe I'll try a dark wash to blackline white figures next.
Once the post office delivers my package today, I'll have several different blue paints to test out to find The One that will make my new Ultramarines army look just right to me. High hopes for the Coat d'Arms Marine Blue.
First 3 Dark Eldar lads, been sat unfinished for a few years since my last aborted attempt to get back into 40k. Pretty happy with them, except for getting the splinter cannon gunner's arms in the right position, anyone else have trouble with that?
Built an official Ork Truck this evening for my Grot force.
Not at all impressed. Giant chunky overwrought ugly arse thing. I will definitely be mounting my grots in German 1/2tracks &/or 1/72 scale Universal Carriers*.
* (sadly the BA one from the other night proved a bit too small :()
Finished 4 more Liberators! Had these guys since 1st Edition of the game and finally on my way of completing a 1000pt army that is now significantly more than 1000pts due to the new point costs 2 Editions on. I am soooo backed up on my paint pile.
I'm going to take a quick break from Stormcast to paint up some old Metal Skaven for WHFB 6th Edition Skirmish.
Played ba vs de, assembled sloggoth and 3 stone trolls. Love these guys. 15 and not single duplicate and indeed even without heads think i would need to build like 60 before starting duplicates even without thinking about heads that multiply it like by 27.
Finally got around to getting all the bits of army I've been buying, stripping, fixing and priming, then hiding in various parts of my house all together in one place. Bit of an eye opener, I'm not really sure how this got away from me to quite this extent! I am now going to have to try and sell half of it, as it's ridiculous. I need to delete the ebay app from my phone, I obviously cannot be trusted to be sensible.
With this list I aim to;
A) use stuff out of my case that hasn't seen much table time recently, (happens when there's almost 6k of stuff in the case). Time for the OG Immortals & Lord to come out & play. B) show our new Tyranid player some stuff the other Necron players at the shop often shy away from.
Triarch Sralkers, Doomstaljers, assorted named characters, the Monolith.....
I don't know what sort of Necron list he's envisioning facing, but I'm willing to bet this definitely-not-meta-list isn't it....
Likewise I've no idea what flavor of Tyranid I'll encounter.

You're not alone!
Looks like a nice collection of one army to me.
I wouldn't get more Stormcast though.
Automatically Appended Next Post: 15mm archers. Almost... there... just a few more.
I really dislike the current Ork truck.
So I converted my grots a new ride!
They get to motor about the table in a 1/35 Tamiya Universal Carrier Mk.II. At 1/35th the crew crew & driver compartments are waaay to deep. (The gunners side worked fine)
So I just built up platforms for them to stand on from some card stock.
Yesterday I trimmed flash, organized the different poses, then glued onto bases Great War Germans from Battlefront - 2 Stoss Platoons, their HQ, a sniper squad, and Minenwerfer team.
This morning I began the assembly of 2 A7V tanks, which I hope to complete tomorrow.
Going to do the final zenithal highlight on about a hundred models with some white ink through an airbrush later today. Once my set of Pro Acryl paints arrives this week, I can test all the blue paints I've acquired to choose The One for my Ultramarines.
Finished my first batch of Skaven for my Skirmish force. Old minis are fun to paint. They are a lot less busy than modern GW sculpts
I have a few more I just bought coming in as well as some Gutter Runners I'm stripping. Probably going to get back to finishing my Stormcast though, so close to 1000pts!
Last night I undercoated an Ogre black for Warhammer Underworlds, tonight I start painting him and will try and finish the rope, wood and bones on a savage orruk.
Two more Grot trucks:
The larger one is a Bolt Action Opel Maultier 1/2track
The smaller one is a Bolt Action Universal Carrier - looks way too dinky. Hence the 1/35th version lurking in the backgound.
Finally finished the last three I had in my to do pile. Got these guys from the Original Bones kickstarter. Now I have all 12 completed...but still the majority of my Bones models are lying in wait to be painted.
Cleaning & prepping Grot tanks x8 (2nd squadron)
Priming 40 Grots
Magnetizing Makari so I can have him on his base or mounted in a truck. (base won't fit where he looks coolest standing)
And finally found a readily available, easy to work with, sci-fi looking part that can serve as the barrel of a kustom-mega blaster for the tanks - the grot-prod stave head from the Runt Herd!
Done with my Eldar ranger, just need to do the jungle base.
Started fiddling with my newly acquired Eldar Jetbike. Will magnetize the gun on the bike, I will start with only the shuriken catapult for now but in case I want to try other options I'll be ready.
Will also want to hunt for a few oval bases for them though. The little clear bases isn't good enough for me, I want more jungle on the bases!
Can't run the Autarch with the Mandiblaster Helmet thanks to the latest codex, and the sword is there for show as he can't have it along the claw, but still. At least the Star Glaive has the exact same stats as a claw would have, so that's a win, plus his shoulder gun is perfect as a fusion gun.
One more Kabalite Warrior done, tried creating a heat stain effect for the first time, pretty pleased with how that turned out. The tattoo on his head was a spontaneous decision, I didn't really have a plan for it, just started painting lines, it's alright though, in-universe he was drunk when he got it (on the distilled tears of a 1000 virgins, or whatever Dark Eldar drink).
Man it’s fun! Simple, but fun. The two players had fun in the teleport maze, and managed to bag 15,000 Gold. Given the pains they went to to get that much, I was giggling as I revealed it was Fools Gold.

Cheers,

Keep it up Captain
Thanks Stevefamine. I need to protest that it is Marine Month for the Monthly Painting Challenge with Eldar figures.
Vive la révolution!
Do you hear the miniaturists sing?
Singing the song of angry painters?
It is the music of the people
Who will not paint marines again! When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is art about to start
When tomorrow comes!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond those Space Marines
Are there other models you long to see?
Finished one squad of blood knights. Primed the other two squads. Started on some grave sites as well. Hoping to finish my 2k point army by the end of April.
Built a squad of Beyond the Gates of Antares Concord C3i Strike Troopers with two spotter drones and one light weapons drone with plasma weapon (next one will be with subverter matrix).

Played a remote game of battletech alpha strike. My inner sphere combined arms in defense against my buddy’s clan mechs. Got my head handed to me.
Following that, we played Dice Throne. DT is a card/dice game of dueling preset characters. Very cool. Reminds me of a mortal combat type fight on the tabletop.
Finished a number of Dire Avengers made from bits (hence the two with metal helmets, and the shorter Shuriken Catapults), one complete DA, and one old metal Exarch.
Finally finished my Knights Excelsior Celestant Prime. I'm far from a good painter, I aspire to be an average one, but I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. It's by far the biggest model I've painted since I got back into the hobby and I've been putting it off through fear of messing it up, so I'm chuffed that it's come out in a way that encourages me to do more rather than the opposite!
I finished 10 HH Raven Guard doods and a Contemptor Dread. Well, the doods were mostly a yesterday project but I stayed up til 5am with the wife watching Outlander and painting, so it still counts.
Slowly building a gates of antares starter I picked up on clearance. The game feels like 1st edition AD&D, one game with extra bits bolted on to other extra bits held on by extra bits.
Seems like everything has a special rule and at least a quarter page explaining all the situations where it does and can’t apply.
Now painting 15mm pavies with vaguely heraldic patterns as a compromise between what I can reasonably freehand and the coats of arms that they would have been decorated with.
Painting first 3d printed terrain, struggling witk 3d printer(store's "print your first print in 15 minutes" can go straight to hell) and assembled and started painting fyreslayer terrain for tomorrow's game.
Other Games:
Base coating a starter box worth of French for Epic Battles from Warlord.
40k:
•Scratch building grabbin klaws for my grots trucks.
•Adding tow hooks to all grot trucks, tanks, & killa kans.
•finalizing the prototype for my scratch built grot zap gunz (Big Guns) - I've got all sorts of left over bitz from Kans, Mech gunz, etc to use up.
Working on 2x Mortian medium tanks
A mortian battle tank
A carnodon
And a Macharius vanquisher.
My desk is currently a world of resin tanks!
Oh and a khursan miniatues saurosuchus, a 10m long warm blooded croc relative from the triassic. Just to swap things up. Will be a rough rider character's mount.
Just about finished my 3 annihilators, just need a final edge highlight on their armour. Not thrilled with them tbh, think I made a couple of poor choices on what panels to cover and they've ended up a bit dull looking. Shields look nice though, so I guess that's a plus
I've said before that my models have to "earn their paint".
Well....
Gotta paint a bunch of Grots tonight/tomorrow..
I had 3 squads earn their paint today. In particular squads #1 & #2 - between them they captured both an Aquilla Vortex Missle battery & a Void shield generator from the IG player. Both things I'll now get to use later in our Crusade. Honorable mention goes to the Wazbomb for making sure the IG had no practical response to this happening.
Grots - now armed with a WMD & hiding behind a force field.
Finally built up the courage to give my airbrush a real go, after about 2 months of being terrified of using it. So far I've only used it for a bit of xenothol white ink spraying and a bit of playing around/practicing, which almost always ends up with me clogging the thing up and spending ages cleaning it.
I'm pretty pleased with how it's come out and I got a lot better at the mechanical processes needed to not make so many clog mistakes, so generally happy with how it's gone. My Stardrake now has 5 tone purple wings that actually look pretty nice.
Still messed up a few times, clogging it twice by letting the air stop before the paint and also wasn't thinning the paint as much as needed at first, but I got over the first hurdle of stopping worrying about it and actively trying to learn. I am generally terrible at being bad at things and suffering through that in order to get good at things, so it's nice to have succeeded a bit
Progress was achieved! Moritorium officials report that 2 squads of fully painted, and based IG depart the pile of shame for the boxes of "maybe when the new codex arrives"
Silly me I forgot to take some pics of such a wondrous moment. Sadly our informants confirmed that the pile of shame seems unfazed.
Most were second hand so it was more of $150~ for the Warriors but I have 15. Only building the Prime + 12 for now since the last two I might use as conversions if I need them to be Lictors/Anything else
lord_blackfang.... lovely basing on your Turnip lads. Ferns are killer
Got 3 more Pyrovores, a Lictor (how many is too many?) and Deathleaper for my Nids.
For my Eldar I got 6 Swooping Hawks, 6 Dire Avengers (had extra printed legs so all the Exarch bits could be used on top of the 5 regular) as well as a Wraithseer.
I'm about to start assembling 2 Stormcast Dragons.
I hadn't expected to have to do this for another week or two, But the 1st game of our new Path to Glory went quite well & I found myself with enough Glory Points to add them to my roster right now.
From the pile of shame, have dragged my two Ironclad Dreads (one built from box, remaining bits applied to the Black Reach easy-to-build "Black Reach" Dread); over black prime have blocked in the metallics, and the white base for the eventual orange armor panels.
Also extracted the 10 minis which will become my CC-oriented Vet Squad: one Fist, one Axe, one Plasmagun, 7 chainswords - had to ransack bits from sprues from multiple kits to accomplish the builds. [EDIT - So current Co. Vets are limited to 5 a squad, so will make two squads instead.]
Bought a card-game 930-count storage box, applied offcuts of packaging foam to create my new 4 Dread "stasis vault" where the two Ironclads will eventually join my two standard Dreads for slumber between wars.
Feeling good!
Automatically Appended Next Post: [@ Blackfang - love the Turnip 28 doods!]
working on a huge number of terrain tiles, and MDF buildings I have accumulated this past couple years.... and getting some new stuff set up to 3d print.
Built a variety of of things to use as Big Gunz for my Grots. Some scratch built, some not.
For Lobbas we have a few Nebelwurfers, several bases containing 3 IG mortars each, and several smart missile arms salvaged from some old Tau Broadside suits.
For Zap Gunz there's 3 complete scratch builds from bitz, 2 made from the old Broadsides rail guns, & one actual vintage Zap Gun.
For Kannons? I found a 3d print of an 105 mle 1913 Schneider field gun @ 1:56 scale that's going to work perfectly.
The goal is to eventually have 18 of each "type" of gun (so 3 squads of each).
Converted/magnetized a few bitz for my Hive Tyrant for the new dex. Got a new HVC with both arms on the same side, and got the whip magnetized to go with the sword I already had, so now he can have a the classic loadout, with the whole gun on his right side!
Now painting those new arms with the hope to use them this weekend!
Rage painting Tyranid Warriors after work. I didnt airbrush them so they're coming out "messy" with blending skin and it's going to be a 15-20 hour process to paint them
Goal is to finish them end of week but I'm barely halfway
Finishing modelling 3 pretorian rough riders (mounted rifles) ready for priming. Sculpting 4x scions heads (with the little spikes) to be speesh Mamluk scions the last guy will have a beret and mask.
Built 5 more close-combat Vets: 2 powerfists, 3 powerswords, all with plasma pistols.
Stalled on painting the Ironclads: all main colors are applied. I forgot what a chore painting checks can be - they are roughed in (black and white are the colors) at least.
Between this post and last I also painted an old Apothecary.
