Well, there is a stratagem where any and all tanks get to carry men, it is of course called, "Tank Riders" they can leap off and charge too boot!
Viktor von Domm wrote:oh....this would then be a yet even stronger addition to an already powerfull tank... you are not being nice to your oponent then^^
You have seen the old WW-II vids of T-34's and such with Soviet soldiers on their backs and then leaping off and attacking alongside the tanks yes?
Now some are so big that only 4 fit the tray!
From the left is the Malcador, the T-290, the Perun, and Bogatyr!
[/img]
are the tanks assembled your way of showing that you are not nice to your oponents?^^ this is one hell of a gulping you submitt your foe to^^
oh and by the way... that T-290 (right? the command tank?) is lacking in the muddepartment in quite a grand scale^^
and to be honest i haven´t seen any vids of that described methode yet but i know it from americans in most older tank wars and i think it was the same...

In such battles, one uses what they need to make the best fight possible. It also makes a hell of a themed army!
T-290 is behind on all paint works, just had it's camo retouched and awaits the black squiggles! How can I mud up an unfinished beast like that?
Ah, I can remedy that! at 4:41 you see tank riders. and at 8:34
Always nice to see the models compared, and also see what a wall of dakka they can bring to the Apoc battles!
[/img]
But yes, I really must finish that T-290
[/img]
Tallest tank i have even taller than a Baneblade!

Such an awe inspiring sight to see such beasts coming at you!

T-290 towers over the Malcador!

And to think this just 4 of the superheavies I own!

and i didn´t even wondered what was wrong... didn´t spotted that the black lines were missing...some serious re-working on the T-290 then...seems you have built up a new look of standards with the T-300 and 400...and now the malcador (already done) and the T-290 must follow

Well, I still also like this vid for showing a Khadrovian style attack on a place that needs their ministrations in the name of the Emperor!
Oh so true, next to the more combat seasoned looking pals, T-290 looks to baby faced!

T-300, muddied, yet looks still somewhat clean, but not as so as T-290

Now compare the earlier photos and see the the oily dirty look of the Badab Black wash all over the T-300
for my taste and my beady eye i deem the bogatyr finished methinks... am i right... he looks oily, greasy, muddy and splattered enough ^^
by the way speaking of beady eyes.... does i still see a grey knight there on your shelf... are you hiding secrets from us or do you do cameo´s on us^^ wasn´t that the force your buddy wanted you to paint for him.... that thread was awfully quite for quite some time....correct me if i am wrong...

Bogatyr is done,,,,for now.,
Cameo as I do some work on that same Grey Knight force, Capt. Drago with helmet for him. GK's are too Overpowered to be that fun, and also I did see that they could lose to the scenarios in 'Ardboy tourneys, as they were not able to cover enough situations to be dominant! this years contests favored simpler armies that could have enough to do all sorts of the tricks of the missions!
well i expect the Grey knights don´t come as a horde army ... so objection wise they couldn´t hold out for long if someone would field a horde against them...namly IG, Orks or nids...
Viktor von Domm wrote:well i expect the Grey knights don´t come as a horde army ... so objection wise they couldn´t hold out for long if someone would field a horde against them...namly IG, Orks or nids...
You might be surprised at what they can do. All force/power weapons and awesome anti-psy stuff. Daemon armies are totally boned by them. They can out perform many other Marines as they can take ammo that makes all ther weapons +1 to their Strength so a bolter now hits like a heavy bolter. They can be quite pesky to deal with. Orks could overwhelm with 30boy mobs, IG with massed platoon of same size or more. For Nids, it would depend on the make up of that army as well.
well the idea behind the GK is that they should be able to "bone" demons^^ bu i think it sounds a bit OTT to be better than average tactical marines or termies...after all they way i see it the GK are just a specialized branch of the SMs...well i know only the hardest and toughest get to be GK but still...

All part of the GW creed of codex creep, where each new codex is more powerful than all other codex's before it!
yup... i read that quite a lot...i know it is to make selling new stuff come easier...competetive players are likley to buy through their nose to get to the winners platform, but there should be such a thing as consistency and style...the way they are currently under way... the necros will simply stom the bloodangels and then the GK to dust...and so forth and so forth...
seeing the standards of paintingschemes on your bogatyr and perun you established the T-290 is in definte need of a serious overhaul...by the way what he too is in need of is a good name...since perun and bogatyr are so colorful names you need one especially for your command tank!!!
somethink about an allseeing eye maybe would be nice...
Ah, this was my very first major conversion piece, and as you noted, I have learned much since then! Well, with the way you put it, I shall name the T-290 "Argus" though it was the "Zhukov" originally.
argus sounds nice tho not russian enough^^ looked up zhukov and this is a fitting name too...chosen well...always tough to be between a rock and a hard place ^^
yup your first major one...and if you are about to optimize something for your command tank i would reconsider maybe the top turret... maybe you could do something to better balance it? maybe to the front flesh out the tower it is resting on?that might help...mabye youst a small structure addition...i think a small place for some extra secor arays aor something...
Gotta keep the 360 degree rotation for that turret! Not sure of any arrays that wouldn't interfere with that.I do have a few things that Might be attachable to the turret at the top that may give a more "command" presence.
well it is just a suggestion...i know nothing of your bulit so you must see what is doable... good luck with that...for me it is now sadly bedtime...see you tomorrow!

shaso! cool development...that diamond shape now in riveted lookout and then you added the aquilla as a centerpiece! that´s the style!!! i knew you could make it way better with such an addition!
lol... rivetgun... i see a pattern here... thr riveter... the rivetgun... seems like there is a movement going on here in these lands and it is most riveting^^ seems like we are forming a gang of sorts... with callsigns ...
we are all heading into epicdom^^
i had just a thoughtflash.... what do you think about adding a banner to the turrets backside? i saw that done on Klaus thread... on his last work...mabye i can find it..mom...
here:
how about that? not in that one to one style but something that fits the space available and your manouverablitiy is still ontouched of course...
yup... it is rather something that gets quickly done... maybe use an old bottle cap to prepare the stuff and then later aplie it to your turret and then paint^^
i think if you set it first you probably will be more comfy with the fit... and i guess you won´t get too much probs when having to paint it later... you are after all a very capable painter....
Thanks, i did a milky looking PVA/water mix, the "flag" is draped and drying before i paint it a red flag with a golden Aquilla having a bright red star over the belly of the bird!
yup... like you can later make a pressmould from it and multiply it...there must be a way to it... i like to experiment with such things... and i learn quite a bit form such endeavors^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:yup... like you can later make a pressmould from it and multiply it...there must be a way to it... i like to experiment with such things... and i learn quite a bit form such endeavors^^
Well, a decent such sculpt would then make me an excuse to get a mold set with resin mix for copy!
Viktor von Domm wrote:thought about that too but didn´t have the right idea yet...
See? all the things one forgets about during a storm of enthusiasm! Gonna have to now paint the flag on that turret, flexible even dry! deserves some art applied to it!
Mad4Minis wrote:Some crazy armor youve (still) got going there...the WWI and WWII Soviet designers would have loved you.
Glad you like them "comrade"! I do try to make them seem sensible and yet also fitting on the game system as 40k is soooooo WWi-WWII with lasers and power armor tossed in.
Synister_Intent wrote:I have a question, is there a specific tank in history that GW has modeled the Leman Russ after? By the way, very nice work.
Thank you! And yes, the Leman Russ is a hybrid of WWI/WWII tanks like the Mk 1-V series of the first world war to more modern tanks with the upper main turret.

WOW... what a mega upload of an update mate! that flag is stunning... love the freehand...that aquilla is very convincing! love those thin lines you did for details...and i congratulate you to your fine work of sculpting the falg so that the turning of the turret isn´t hindered! that is a lot to do...man you are busy! one thing still on my mind... the flag needs a wash or two...otherwise this is freaking cool man and i hope you feel half as proud as i feel about you^^
Well, tread-head is the main term, but well, we all like the tanks with some character, if they look like they sit in a show room all clean, then they seem a tad boring!
show room... like in a morot show... is that possible? like ...can i get that leopard in yellow with purple strpes instead of these ugly brown freckles all over... that como is so out of fashion this season....oh and i think i would like to have that parking assistant too...
Viktor von Domm wrote:show room... like in a morot show... is that possible? like ...can i get that leopard in yellow with purple strpes instead of these ugly brown freckles all over... that como is so out of fashion this season....oh and i think i would like to have that parking assistant too...
Yeah, something like that.
Much better to have them set in camo, decals and then "dirty"
always wondered what these small bits are for... now i see they are too some sort of sensor array? looking very good... but i realised now you need to touchup those barrels... some not wanted colors there... but i guess it is me forgetting cam perspective and scale yet again^^
ah... ok... i only can apreciate the look from tanks... i rather know next to nothing about tanks and this specally comes to surface in your thread here^^
So, you have learned of track shoes/vision blocks/Hatches/glacis plates and decks, exhausts and drop tanks for extra fuel. (as seen on the T-290 backside.) Sponsons too. What else do you wish to learn of?
well i have seen the pics in dimitrys thread ... the one with the inside shots of the transmissions and i have yet to master all these parts... the tracks are still something that need exploration as i think one day i would like to make a scratchbuilt attempt at an open track... so evry partz is visible...i know this might take long^^
Ah, like the more modern open tracks of today's tanks minus the side skirts
The wheels on the track and ground are the road wheels, the little ones supporting the tracks are the return rollers(The french tanks like the Char 1 used a set of slide guides) the wheels with the teethe is the drive or sprocket wheel, and the other large wheel is called an idler wheel,(usually loosened up to ease tension on the tracks for maintenance)
The road wheels are also usually attached to torsion bars and shock absorbers or in the old days springs.
Landline ...ah ok... thought you had that already given your online ...but is that working differently in the U.S. than here? without a landline access you won´t get internet too in germany... well actually that´s not true as i am contemplating to move our telephonbe and net connection to a connection via cable (as in cable TV)...
I have a cable band phone modem now, and that will allow the phone to work with the headset I will work with to take calls.
Oh, I bought the "boat" and see how i can make it work as Ghost and Doom Ark. Have also the finecast Imotekh mini, they gave him a 25mm base, but his stance demands a more boss like 40mm base.
the boat as you state it is the bark?
sadly the new finecasts stuff of the necrons don´t ring my bell..somehow they look to wanted to be cool but not actually cool...for my taste i see too much SM referrence on them... dunno how to explain that...
is it moveable? i mean ingame??? also the orange black scheme from your buddy sounds nice...could work quite well on the footsloggers... how it will look on the bark i am totally unknown...but i guess you show us the way^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:is it moveable? i mean ingame??? also the orange black scheme from your buddy sounds nice...could work quite well on the footsloggers... how it will look on the bark i am totally unknown...but i guess you show us the way^^
The bark I got is MINE! it will have that gold/green blend I showed in my own Necrons thread.
Oh yeah, (oh that was in case ant of my friends out there were lurking, and seeing the mention of the bark, can't allow them the wrong ideas! )

All part of the plan for the Khadrovians to overwhelm all opponents via strength of numbers, and a plethora of patterns to confound and confuse the enemy!
True, they do clear up well, the other pics I took a the glue was still drying, and hence still white, but you know how they will look once the paint is applied over them!
Well, caught some fresh work to do on the three turret monster of the T-350. Fresh lick of camo paint. But first, I wanted to show just before pics.

i think your techdesigner of the khardovian production facilities was brought up by orks...seeing the tank going toe to toe with the necron boss i think it is clear that there is no room for further dakka^^

Likely it is the early work of conversion I used, but this tank actually pre-dates the Orky thing from Forge world, that is the uber grot landship, I have seen it.
Any tank at that range had best have damaged or destroyed the deceiver, even the new down sized "shard" of such, as they are still classed as "monstrous creatures" with all the ability to tear into tanks that implies. Good thing Battle-cannons are so long ranged as they are.

The G.A.Z.-77 "Chameleon" This is the Khadrovian Military's aggressive p/u truck. a pinlte mount for a Heavy stubber can be mounted above the cab, and a man in the p/u bed can stand behind it and fire the MG. It can also be used in goods and supply carrier, as well as transport a small 5man squad of soldiers. The "Chameleon" with so many roles earns it's name.

As can be seen, the G.A.Z.-77 also has external stowage mounts for tools and other equipment. [/img]

T-103 "Uhlan" this tank is lighter, and faster for making spearheads and forays along with the MBT-90D, and the T-104 Fast Tanks. Both of which are respectively 40 and 60tons in nature. the T-103 also has like the heavier tanks, a loading servo arm that loads the shells into the battle-cannon. The crew consists of Commander-Gunner, Augury/other systems operator, and driver(he get's to fire the servo Heavy Bolter) No higher than the T-104, the T-103 is slimmer, and weighs around the 15 ton range. This version also has the advanced augur, targeting systems, this is what allows the tank to attack at high speed, and still blast the target,. dsteingass wrote:Awesome Stuff!! I especially like the armored car-looking thing with twin-linked guns. You DO realize what would make them all look 100% better right?
Oh you know the "rivet-gun" is going to see a lot of use!
lord_blackfang wrote:Those look like nice casts, if a bit plain. Can we get some scale shots next to 40k minis?
This was just the debut, I will have a 40k soldier for scale for the next sequence before priming as I must add rivetty-rivets!
@Mad4minis: Oh, I have a nice chestnut or other dark wash waiting to bathe those treads in, before I slop the mud all over them, then the last wash to add depth to the "dirt"
lord_blackfang wrote:Those look like nice casts, if a bit plain. Can we get some scale shots next to 40k minis?
The Old Crow stuff is great, I have one of their Sabre tanks. They are a bit plain, but the lines/casting is as crisp as can be, and the come very well finished...he actually sands any irregular mating surfaces and such. I definitely plan to buy more in the future. Im thinking I may pick up a couple of those little scout trucks. for 7 GBP they cant be beat.
So, before I went to pop rivets all over thee fine vehicles and prime them, I was asked about a 40k model set next to them for size reference, and I felt that a Catachan would do just fine for the job as most here know fy\ull well wht it is and that it shows how the new tanks and other vehicles are in the Chimera size and smaller based on this volunteer's service of posing with the differing vehicles.
With the smallest to the largest

Rivetted one of the Lancer alternative turrets, and one attack buggy, and the P/U-truck version of the buggy. I also did a checkof size compared to the "Sabre"(T-104) and the MBT-90D and found the T-103 may be better classed as a 15ton tank, making it a licht-panzer!
lord_blackfang wrote:Thanks for those pics. I definitely wanna get some of those buggies.
No problems, having a soldier for size workj helps a lot of folks see how well they could integrate these vehicles into their armies, just a few minor adjustments and voila!

These are for when I want some transports with the "Auto-cannon" option from Imperial Armor books(still need to order that one for the costs of the cannon.)
Otherwise the half as large servo turrets will suffice.Carries troops and a bigger gun with the new turret, amazing eh!?
I like those vehicles, especially the heavy and super-heavy tanks. Just a solid lump of thick armor and a gun, no baroque foolishness. I wish they would make some battlemech-type vehicles in 30MM scale with the same design aesthetic.

Well, some of the vehicles Old Crow makes are also in G.E.V.(hover craft) or anti-grav options. For my tatses, I went with tracked and wheeled as my Tau/Necrons already have enough anti-grav to go around!

The missile launchers get a color code for the Krak=Red, and Frag=Green
As for the drilling of the guns, that is planned. They have a start tap but they are not so deep, some flat black will also help with that once they are painted.
