If you were pro I'd say have little depictions of the tank shooting and killing stuff, but as you're not I'd say either (suitable) decals, vents, view ports or just leave them blank.
the vents idea is a nice one but currently i am without suitable bits in that regard and about the
little depictions of the tank shooting and killing stuff
do you mean by that some marks like:
that could be nice but only with small pics of tanks and other kiiled stuff...^^
blank panels seem a bit too bland for me...i think tho the tank has posh detail what he lacks currently is a bit of charcter...i think i have to look for some nametags and such stuff... scrolls and seals...
Scrolls are good..maybe with some inspirational mottos.
Regimental colour stripes in one panel? Kill markings on another, using little tank pics as you say. A couple with scrolls on, that's starting to fill them up.
Maybe a few tools, tow ropes etc on the main body. Possibly a few hand-holds too, that's a big beast they've got to clamber over there.
Darken the tracks and give them a devlan mud, badab black mix wash to give them a bit of definition and you're about there with those.
The 9 panels would be good as honour markers. for various campaigns.
The tops of the sponsons could be painted with a mini Viktorian symbol, so flyers can recognise friend from foe in the heat of battle
Oh and put the gun back on the rear of your turret.
I miss the regiment/ company/ squadron marking on the turret though.
Automatically Appended Next Post: In the story of the Iron Saint they had a scroll on 1 of the sponsons which listed the previous (dead) crewmembers, that had served there... maybe it could be the same for your tank.
Incidentally the sponson on the Iron Saint was believed to be cursed as this is where most crew would die in battle, therefor the newest crewmember must fight their first battle in that sponson.
If they survived they got to fight elsewhere and were indoctrinated fully into the crew.
Could do a similar bit of fluff for your steam tank
at shrike : yup somewthin along those lines i think...
at dantay, that bit of fluff sounds very nice indeed, you just can imagine that something like that would be true... also the scoll of KIA crewmembers sounds like a cool idea too! and the aircrat recognition sign is also a grande idea... man you are spilling those like a machinegun^^ the barrel of the bolter on the turret fell of and i have to GS it on again... same goes to the too often blind spot of the one side of the tank that i seldom show...as it has no bolters attached to the sponsons as i am too lazy to GS them in... simple glueing them in didn´t work as well... also i as i redid the brass work on the turret i had to redo the red inside the spaces and thus killed for now the regimental markings... but fear not i want them too to return^^
also the tracks are far from finished... in fact i thought about brassing up the angles of the shoes of the tracks... what do you think about that? ater that then there will be washe aplenty and my wife recently told me that she thought the tank would look better weathered down and dirtied up....i am at a split there... so all your opinions would be greatly apreciated or rather needed^^
at monkey.. i havent thought about adding tools...but i guess that would add lot of detail to the tank... have to rummage around for some long forgotten bits^^ the scolls i have to see if i can make some out of PVAed paper maybe^^... the hand-holds idea is something i should have tought about way earlier too...perhaps i could use staples or someting like that or even bend some wire into form for that...

oh yeah, that was in the... april 2009 white dwarf?
where the guy is dong the "drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword!" thing.
It would be cool having a little story behind the tank... maybe it's age, or a specific campaign where it's done the british thing and soldiered through?
might happen... but you see young padawan...we thought for quite some time that you where a prankster too that never would show us some pics...wasn.´t there that all time favorite norris marine? he? hè? he?
Viktor von Domm wrote:might happen... but you see young padawan...we thought for quite some time that you where a prankster too that never would show us some pics...wasn.´t there that all time favorite norris marine? he? hè? he?
hmm sounds like a good offer...haven´t found the time to look into my own decal libary^^ once i made quite a bargain... last time i used one it was for some marines... so there is no knwoning what i migt come up with in that collection... i let you know, but thanks anyway chibi! any little thing to make the world implode (even more likely as the world would be so aghast about such an event that it would draw breath for an unhealthy length of time, thus implosion is more likly...)...
at monkey...certainly not me^^
at shaso...yet again :: full marks on that one!!!
and shrike...you know the saying...silence is golden...er brass^^
well as for that theme i have to make some serious readjustments... i think some major time investments were for the waste bin... the current tank design put a bad spell on the airship and thus i think the airship has to be remodelled in terms of the tankdesign....also i have to make some adjustrments as i would like to have it a bit more realistc looking...for a given value of realsim...of course...
LOL! it is steam-punk sci-fi fantasy, now we do not have to have the exact real life perfection, it can be as you like, if you want to add "realism" then do whatever it takes to make you happy about the project, after all, it will be yours to use for when you put to the tabletop battlefield for VIKTORIA!
absolutly... the quenny would be not amused if anything wouldn´t be up to it´s best^^ you gotta have some standars at least^^ even in mid battle otherwise you would get chaos and we wouldna have non of that!...
on a side note ... i got my hand on some wartrakks...orkish by nature but i see such potential for a steampunkish realted certain army there...for now i won three of them and i think they would do nicley in my army... what do you think?
Good idea Vik
Bagged a couple of Wartrakks ages ago and was converting one to an easy rider Rokit launcher. But found lots of other stuff to do instead.
Might be able to use it for some skirmish games so I might just have to knick your idea!
at neil: thanks mate tho much of the said red variation is patchwork^^
at monkey:
i followed the thread early on but had nothing worthwhile to contribute and now it is almost dead sadly... also i have a buggy still that i have certain ideas about.... maybe^^ and you are totally right either you do a steampunk orky army or you "miss"-use the orky stuff for IG...either way weapons and vehicles have lots of steampunk potential right there!
at chibi:
that would be an honest honor^^, so nick away all you can carry^^ wasn´t it groucho marx who coined the phrase: you have won as much washingmachines as you can carry...?
to be honest i only know of the games workshop shops in my area... when i have a reasonably force together and maybe a list or two i will for real be looking for a group! this best has to be tested in battle!
Viktor von Domm wrote:to be honest i only know of the games workshop shops in my area... when i have a reasonably force together and maybe a list or two i will for real be looking for a group! this best has to be tested in battle!
Oh I am sure that there are also independent local game stores with gaming tables and groups for you to find in Berlin. I play at such a localized store, or at friend's houses. For my move to South Carolina, I have already started looking for game shops of that nature to pre-plan outings to., Such a monster tank, can be set up points wise it could be adjusted as I saw now odd weapons on it, but 33 structure points and there is 200pts right there, then add in for the weapons., armor, speed, crew, equipment. Superheavies also have some interesting rules that help, like low walls and similar low terrain is ignored. Just crushes it, but bigger pieces can slow them down if they fail terrain checks.
Battle cannon/Twinlinbked Heavy flame cannons, say S6/AP3 range 18" from muzzle, (that includes both ens of the 18"Hellstrike template. sponson heavy bolters and a Heavy-stubber on the turret, all fireable at different targets as the beast is lumbering. Makes a 45 degree turn pivot from the rear of the treads. I say it should come to say an easy 400pts. Armor 14/13/12 or front/sides/rear Making anything attacking the tank in HtH needs S6 or better to crack it open.
400 points would make a decent value to bring the army in some good points range...but this also calls for more tanks... a decent basilisk counts as and at least twoo or three counts as LR i think i should gather around the steamy...^^
from an lost ebaycontact i know that even in my direct area there must be privat gaming clubs that would accept selfmade taks and stuff...and i think i would rather game there then in a shop where the redshirt always tries to sell you something^^

Well, it is not exactly a Baneblade, so I could not see 500pts for it. But it is massive, well armored, and has more guns than a Leman Russ tank. If you get some leman's make them some similar smoke stacks for a maching theme
See? you can find a play group out near you, no Redshirts, no hassles.
well fellas time for the promised update.... added a few details, some GS ones and some curtesy of Zinge industries yet again, a stepladder for once...
also i glued/GSed the bolter to the sponsons, ther was no simple glue a match for that somehow...might be the material of the photofil boxes that was not inclinded to bond with the plastic bits...well with GS all gets done^^
i then painted the sponsons in metall and added a scroll to one side and also a banner nailed to the turret. from my bitzbox i also added a WHFB shiled and i think it quite fits the job well!
see for yourself:
new fullshot tankpics:

and yeah when i finish this tank i porbably will do some smaller tanks to go as Leman Russes and these of course will be made and sporting some stacks and a boiler too as there s no escaping the steam in the punk!!!
well the tank has soem serious work still due....washes to the red, washes to the metall and writings and decals...sooting to the flamers and stacks...
on a related note... i want you all to go deep thought and come up with some suitable names for this maiden of steel...which is coincidaly my entry to this little agenda of namefinding...^^

so let me hear your names...
iron maiden?
ol' bessy?
viktory?
iron lung?
viktorian pride?
well obviously not iron maiden, also ol`bessy is more apropriate i think for a big blunderbus but i wont be the judge here^^ but you can add new names when you come up with some more^^ don´t hesitate^^
Been lurking this thread since day one(not the whole time i assure you, i did sleep occasionally), so it's awesome to see where your at now with your creation, although i am secretly holding out for the blimp you started It looks great so far, love the burnt kind of look on the boiler, kudos all round , goes to show what you can make out of everyday material.
As for a name, i'm throwing in a simple one: The duchess, or maybe the red lady, as it would be a testament to the might of the viktorian empire, so it'd have to be something queeny/ladylike IMO.
The steampunk feel for the tanks are very cool. I think brass is a great color. maybe the smoke stacks from the manufactorium model or the steam tank model for fantasy empire would work well, if you can buy them individually. Ive got a steam tank lying around so I might try putting that on a leman russ.
at mikzor:
nono don´t be a stanger mikzor! be a regular... but then if someone still nows this guy here:
my favorite coment of him was: "are you regular?"
don´t hold your breath for too long might take longer than you are able too^^as the airshop is a heavy one to finish^^
for the namesearch i will make a list...adding is still possible so get your grey cells in line^^:
iron maiden
ol' bessy
viktory
iron lung
viktorian pride
The duchess
red lady
The Defiant
The Prince Albert
Pride of the Empress
Big Red
Spirit of the Empire
Scarlett o'hara
Red Devil
Crimson Tide
The cardinal sin
maiden of steel
H.M.T. Indominitable
at shaso:
yep there should be a fluffy official name, then a fluffy name as a nickname from the crew and the whole footsloggers and also a name that i am able to put on a nametag^^
at monkey...
you know what was the first google hit i came up for prince albert...urgh... but on a more official note... a quite good choice...still...urgh...look for yourself and get tainted^^
at djdutton:
yeah i could have ordered me the plastic stacks from the steamtank set... but i recently discovered that when you begin with cardboard you should have stayed with cardboard... getting other materials like foam and then plastic in the mix screws up some work... my ext project will probably be all cardboard then...as it is so handy and cheap and...did i mention cheap?^^ but for a conversion with a leman russ i would love to see that done... feel free to add your own steampunkishness here! i comand thee!^^
at chibi...: thanks for the keeping of follower standards around in these parts! but i know you are just itching... itching i tell thee, for naming a name for that red beast...! so don´t keep it to yourself!
at dsteingass:
nice avatar pic by the way^^
and the name is collected for the list^^ and thanks for the compliment for the fretwork...it was one of those fresh and clear moments when you think about a certain problem and well just like someone puts the solution inside your head like a disk^^ and then i knew that it would work^^
at chibi:
your names too added! like the decription of the imperial ruby! sounds fluffy
so list now as follows:
iron maiden
ol' bessy
viktory
iron lung
viktorian pride
The duchess
red lady
The Defiant
The Prince Albert
Pride of the Empress
Big Red
Spirit of the Empire
Scarlett o'hara
Red Devil
Crimson Tide
The cardinal sin
maiden of steel
H.M.T. Indominitable
Her Majesty's Hammer
The Granite Pommie
Imperial Ruby
who woudl have known that someone out there even invented insulting words for britishs...man people these days... i had to look up Pommie by wikipedia and quite some explanation came up... or as also was stated..."cor blimey"^^
Aye, the brits are also known as Limey's due to the carrying oif limes aboard their ships to avoid the disease of scurvy as we do not make our own vitamin C in our bodies, hence why veggies and fruits are so good for you.
Hmmm, loading that puppy up with a barrel of limes in miniature would be interesting to see amongst it's externally stowed kit.
yep^^ a landship all right^^ hmmm i have indeed some ogre barrels still in the bitz box...nice idea...hmmm... will have a nights sleep over that idea... and how to execute it^^
somehow i have to think about a red potato when reading pomegranate... but that would give the tank a certain french and german mix to it... like some peeps i know of foreign heritage tend to call germans "kartoffel/potatos" and the frnch word is pomme de terre...
Back in my days in Neu Ulm, I would find the Hauptbahnhoff candy sellers had Marzipan Kartoffeln, besides the Gummi candy and chocolate, they were also bought.
But yeah Green Stuff Limes in the barrel top would be cool on your massive pomegranate tank of Viktorian making.
hur hur hur...chibi you are one of a kind! i guess it wont be for long that gw actually cobbles something together along those limes... er lines i´ve meant^^
i think scorpion green woud be good start?
and marzipan kartoffeln are one hell of a munch^^ i like them very much and we in germany already have all the christmas food stuff in our stores!!! and we still have over 20° C!!! isn´t that fun?^^
well treied myself in a field i am not so acustomed with...namley decaling...here are the pics... note i also did a bit of freehanding there too...some killmarkings... the crosses are for the campaigns the tank has already fought in...the rest seems rather selfeplaining^^
smallish addition here for you to oggle on... made as suggested by dantay a airrecognition sign on the two sponsons... the paintjob will be alternated as it is currently... so red will switch with white...used paper cut to pattern and thus i hope to get some raised detail too there...will keep you updated on this hopefully tonight...
Automatically Appended Next Post: well this is the possible automatic attached update as promised...
the aerial recognition completed and also i detailed the turret in every space between the fretworks... all additions aren´t completed this is the task for tomorrow...
at mikzor:
wellllll.....i can´t see that happening^^ at all...ever...sorry^^ to burst your bubble^^ i am no artist, merely a merry mingler when it comes to painting...
chibi do you mtalk about those big "templar" crosses? they are there for the campaings the tank fought in... the kill markings are on the other side with a small tank and a small plane...but i see where you are coming from... i have to rethink about these campaingsigns...
at neil...and the devil too...thanks for the chevrons, i just had a flash about them and knew a way to make them with my unsteady hands^^
No the campaign signs are fine Vik
Scratch what I said matey, I was being dense. Just seen a pic of an artillery piece using a Kill Marking system like you have used, with tank and plane symbols.
The kill markings may still be a bit over scale but is not a big deal.
i still know where your coming from, you have a point nevertheless...the thing is the marks on the tank killpoints is from the Leman russ decal set, so thought myself secure in the realms of the justified^^ the campaign signs are a bit too german looking for my taste atm but one day maybe they will make more sense as i would like to make a chaosy IG army based on the warzone minis...got quite a few of them and they will be more of a WWI style of german troops then so the iron cross is rather a mocking of the arch enemy...
also about the size one more thought... they are for pure show off effect... so i guess any good crew would love to make thema s big as possible to show friends and foes alike how good they are...^^
thanks bebop, the effect was aimed to be brassen looking but whatever makes you happy i guess^^
at dsteingass, oh yeah thats klaus and his gorgeous models totally scratchbuilt at that i might point out, he has by the way a thread of his own here on dakka too....:
i recommend to read that only if you are sure not to wee yourself when you realize that this level we can never hope to reach of modeling...in fact i see klaus work lightyears from my paintwork...but it is a vast source for inspiration!!!
for all interrested this week i will complete something to make my pics in the near future a bit more nice to look at, i have been daydreaming about some kind of diorama that can be used with different terrain pieces to raise the effect of any pices i want to take pictures of...stay tuned as i hopew this will be a smallish revolution to my work^^

have you got any ideas as to what models it will involve and what will they be doing?
I was thinking maybe "connor", the scout with the pistol, could feature
oh the major idea behind this is to make a two walled and ground diorama that can feature any model i make in the future... i am sick of the white background and need some stimulus when making pics....so a basic landscape and such things... funny you should mention connor the scouting pistol wielder, had him in my hands this very day and thought it was high time he got a treatment ^^
so there was i bigmouthing something about a future diorama... well here are some shots of the Dòmhnall Dubh`s 32th Light Infantry Regiment marching out withe the steamtank through some ruins...keep a watchful eye open mates, enemy is close at hand...
thaanks mates, i dreamed abou one day making scenic pics with the minis... that is of course if i have one day enough painted minis, models and terrain to go... as for the foam carving tho it was quite tedious it should have been even more tedious as when i do it next time i try to make the indvidual stones smaller...or what do you think? currently the bricks are about 1.5 times as big as a cadian torso...too big? or just right.... wanted to do them in a brwonstone kind of look...
Not really Vik Wouldn't worry overmuch as the bulding with the arches is of some size and eminence. iirc the bath stone in Bath are large and also some of the blocks in tenemants in Glasgow
A torso is only a couple of feet and I am guessing the blocks in this pic of a smaller building are not far off:
Am liking the dio matey
Edit: They stone here is probably a bit smaller looking again, but I still wouldn't worry about it as the size of the stone blocks in your fictional setting is highly plausible imho What I would say however, to save you some time, is that although the lower storey has very deeply rescessed lines between the rows for decorative purposes, the upper storey is tightly faced. This could be easily represented by drawing the lines with a pencil and require no carving.
Bloody hell , where did that come from? looks like you spent some time on that building matey, nice work with the carving , and great archway pillars , I bet that wasn't easy. Nice dio too.
thanks chibi for the reassuring comments and all the more for the refference pic, something along this lokk i had in mind when going into full carving^^ by the way, the carving was done a couple of weeks ago and i tried before to make a dioframe by cardboard but some things just have to have a certain stability to it, lest it falls over itself once you really want to squeeze some use out of it^^ so i used the multiplex i think it is called for the frame , the foam as said before was of stock i had when restarting my modeling...in fact mostly leftovers form the tankmaking really but i can´t helping securing bigger peices for further needs... i am for that like an old women keeping used strings^^
dsteingass, lovley building, and no misstake! the wood effect only gets betsed by the feel of the stones in the lower floor! don´t humble yourself because then you humble us all! is that all foam or what else did you use?
well neil mostly tedious work, as each line i carved had to be carved in two direction to get that slightly curved feel to the brickwork. glad you like it^^
small update, i have sort of primed the foam and the frame with cheap wall paint in black for a first coat and i think after drying i will aply at least a second black coat and then i start drybrushing same color as first installment of my tank got... the ocker color...:
then washes for the lines of the stones...also i will try myself to make a scenic skyeffect but i think this might be above my current abilities for now but it has to be done^^
then i ponder what to do with the ground... some of my models have muddy bases and i wanted to go for a muddy feel to the dio ground too... or should i go the grassland fell? or for that matter should i do a cobblestone look and if so how???
I built a set of these for my uncle, who is primarily a 20mm historical wargamer. They are 100% scratchbuilt, foamcore construction with balsa timbering and card roofs. I experimented with some textured plasticard on one, but the carving into the foamcore with nothing but a sharp pen worked best.
the entire album (with WIPs) are here in my photobucket for them
http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/1%2072%20Scratchbuilt%20Buildings/
it's no diorama, just the grass side of my gaming table with some trees and shrubbery thrown into the pic
oh, and this one sparked the 20mm Stalingrad project
i wnet to your photobucket account on my own, before you posted this...i was amazed!!! and i think i will try some of the techniques you showed for some of my own needs...currently something like a hollywood westen city with only fronts to the houses springs to my mind^^ i really like that style of your building! but don´t get me wrong, the historical middleage houses look way more spectacular then the bombed stalingrad...^^
Thanks everyone! The Stalingrad ruins were meant to be gaming-friendly first, the European buildings really amount to LOS blockers. I actually want to build a Wild-West set like this, but that is a huge time and effort drain, still maybe someday.
this is the prototype, this time though they are more gaming-useful.
It is foamcore but mostly made of these pine craft sticks I found at Michael's craft store, they are like big stir sticks, and stained using an alcohol-based wood stain-pen. I printed the wallpaper from a pic of a repeating pattern resized to scale on a color laser printer, I like the effect meself.
Sorry Vik, didnt mean to hijack your thread bro I'll shut up
Hey vik , Glad your making progress, I was thinking about your basing issues, what about going muddy but adding a few loose cobbles and static grass shoots , best of both .
here are some nice pics of arches , i downloaded for research
@dsteingass , great work on those houses, they remind me of a an old white dwarf that had templates for those .. i used it in my gcse art exam at school... only got a c though :-( bloody philistines !
anyways, all the 20mm scale buildings are made from the same standard storey/window/door height template I made in Visio, printed, cut, and pinned them to the foamcore and cut, so all the doors and windows are a standard, uniform height, remember, maximizing gaming usefulness often forces you to trade off some realism.
If anyone wants the file, I'll gladly share...but it is for 15-20mm scale

That is the article that this idea spawned from!! GMTA
neil, the lower section of the spoilered pic is exactly what i had in mind...the sandy colored brickwork you get in certain areas! thanks mate, and in your link there are a bunch of really lovley arches and the site is really inspiring!
i first thought when seeing those updated pics of the western saloon that the wallpaper is so lovley! i think you have a great knack for building buildings (that sounds weird written by me, if not dull^^)
is the front of said saloon also only carved foam? it look like the real deal, sometimes it is unbelievable what one can achieve with material like foam and "stirring sticks"!
and you can´t shut up just now... i think you should make a seperate blog for those buildings... scenes like that celebrating guy coming from the throne is just priceless!
heh thanks, the wood siding is actually a sheet of balsa wood that had been milled with a clapboard siding pattern, got it at my FLHS Phil's Hobby Shop - this is HO scale
so just asking is H0 more true to 20mm or would it work for 28mm heroic too? i always wondered...
milled with a clapboard siding pattern
??? sometimes technical terms are hard to understand to me... some of the other guys here have had a hard time from time to time to explain cartain things to me^^
20mm is smaller, uses 1/72 scale figures (usually softer plastic) and vehicles, HO scale (1/87) is useable, 28mm or Heroic like 40k needs a bigger footprint. We play a set of rules known as "Flying Lead" http://www.ganeshagames.net/modern/ It's great fun!
:facepalm... used the translation site i use and translated backwards "fräsen" as you showed the link and felt a bit dumb as it is exactly milling^^ so i understand you now^^
yeah hands up how wants a WIP blog of Dstein for awsome scratchbuilding buildings (oh i went there again^^)
well as rules always goes i am too lazy to actually try to tackle them... currently i dwindle around with painting and building and contemplate the thought to one day have a full army and then i will give the rules a go...till then i stick to making whatever springs of my mind like a cheaper version of zeus waiting to see a pegasus^^

Vik, that is exactly what I have been doing for the past ten years, piddling around with this and that, I hadnt even played 40k until about a year ago, the modeling and painting is what attracts me to the hobby most.
As for a blog, ok I can do that. Would it be best to have a seperate thread? or combine it all into one mishmashed thread?
i would suggest opening a new one and you can never know how long they stay alive anyways...so opening is dead cheap and i would do that... for my own needs i opened several ones and mostly now i have one working but i will switch when necessary... so i guess it is over to you^^ but one thing more threads mean more work but also spreads out for new comers your bloody good work...so i guess it is mostly win^^ and i think your work is pretty much off the scale so you could get the apropriated followers^^... me for instance^^
oh and lol... yep that sounds too pretty much like me when you describe it like that...tho i hope that in that timeset i will get my sons to play some games with me... both are still not reading so rules and such games are a tad too early but they are very much ithcing for their own armies already^^ and i would be damned to sooth them in their interrest^^
haha, precisely! Stocking up on basic supplies is the key thing, and the basic supplies are rather cheap really. Then your imagination and commitment to time are your only limiters.
so mates been promising to show you some WIP pics of the dio... well here it is, about four layers of cheapo black paint and then respectivly layers of brownish/sandy paint over that... and made an attempt that still needs to touched up of a skyline and also the floor got painted and gluepainted and then sanded and then painted again and again^^ and then washed with one heck of a dirty soup i made from the cheapo wallpaints... well...
on a toltally unrelated note... my wife today got me a walker from playmobil...new range of galxy freedom fighters and that mech i instantly said i had to have... well i fully well knew then that i wouldn´t buy me one and she said well thats for your birthday then... but as we had a bit of rumble at home lat days she bought me one of these as a make amends present kind of...^^
sorry for toppled pics... i think they will be erased shortly... was too dumb to turn them before upload...
well thats all folks^^
tomorrow i hope to get a wash of that cheapo wash over the brickwork to make the recesses stand out a bit more and if the lords of time allow i can drybrush over the bricks yet again to make the stone effect done...what do you think about adding later on some grassy basing material as a stand in for poison ivy or other plants like that???
Noice job Vik! I love the color! My Girlfriend and I buy each other Lego (her birthday is tomorrow and her Diagon Alley just arrived) so, she's a keeper too!
lol... yeah lego is one of my first loves too^^ in my youth i liked to combine lego and playmobil together...that set if of the harry potter stick isn´t it? is it available in stores at all? or ebayed? quite expensive^^ and boy thats the second time you talked about here being a keeper^^ lol...
For poison Ivy or vines, just make a little run of glue and sprinkle flock or oregano, or whatever basing stuff you have. Once it dries, blow off the excess. It would probably look best if you mix several green flocks.
I ordered it from Lego.com, you can only get it there or at a real Lego store. I never had Playmobil as a kid, it just wasnt sold around here back then, although my neighbor had some I remember, a big flying saucer playset.
i had that one... loved it to pieces, same with my big pirate ship... ah the fod memories...^^
your description is better than mine but it is as i had inteded to do^^ combination of flock and basilikum/oregano sounds great! this will be something that i will enjoy^^
my kids are currently more into the star wars stuff from lego... quite nice really and true to the first movies i have to say... i am one of those guys that still wish lukas wasn´t in it only for the money and hadn´t filmed the other three...horrible stuff^^
lego is for a company that is around for decades one that has so many licences.... batman, spidey and starwars and also harry potter...oh and dont forgett spongebob^^ they are all over the place and even invent new stuff like spinnig toys that you can battle with... if you ask me mostly the stuff is not worth mentioning but some things like a jawa sandcrawler form lego is quite amazing when you see it brick by brick... and no this sadly isn´t our childrens room floor^^

I also use herbs for foliage.
For an climber covered monumet stone I started with strips of scourer, then added the herbs and finally primed.
Spoiler:
Re Lego Star Wars
Good way to get some gaming with the youngsters would be to play Mutants and Death Ray Guns. There is a fanlist of character stats for Star Wars and some guys use the Lego figures to play Ganesha games. Could be a lot of fun.
the elves are just priceless chibi! yeah lego for gaming sounds like a great potential! and getting LOS issues would be of no problem as you can raise any model how you like it^^ just put another slob on the base^^
that scourer tip i will definatly try out... ordenary wire would work too don´t you think? by the way did you use sponge parts for the additional fluffy effect there on that stone?
have lots of apointments today ... will hopefully get some things done for the bricks will show you in the evening/night...
Not on this one Vik Just padded out with the scourer
But am going to cover the mound with shrubs so will possibly use sponge for that. Although am now thinking that I will just use the mound itself to provide the main bulk of the shrubs and keep their tops lower if you see what I mean
the rumors of my alleged death are mostly exaggerated...
tank pics will follow tomorrow and also i hope i can present to you some stony brickwall ruins... for now sans vines but they will come too...oh and the tank is still red^^
hello lads and ladies...a hearty welcome from the lands of never completion...
i have been daydreaming again and since the big red tank is till big red and tanky and a bit boring atm...he is almost finished and thus a tad on the obligatory side for me...
i have been musing a lone big (and red) tank is somewhat not enough for a good emperial army...so i have been playing around with some ideas... namly some smaller tanks to be flanking the big RED and helping her... my main point for such a project is the treads yet again... the paintwork on the red BIG one teached me one thing... foam and spray is something that i cant combine thus i had to prime by hand which bothered me quite much... so i forgone the whole foam treads concept... it being for a smaller outlay of a tank like my version of a leman russ anyway...so i played around in my big head with some ideas and when going for some hobbyrelated shopping i had a vision of some sorts... the outcome you will see in the nxt following pics....as i am totally helpless and clumsy with crochet my wife helped me with these first testmaterials made from cheap packaging string.... two already primed and drybrushed with boltgun metal paint are doen with an art called Macramé... the other non painted versions are done by crochet....
all pics are in two versions to better show the effects of the materials...with and without flash... the string is cheap and able to soak in the paint and thus be a good material for me to work with... also PVA would work very good too with said stuff...
and afterwords behold my design of a smaller steamtank...
you know the drill don´t tell your wife and chumps what silly stuff i did...tell me instead...^^
thanks mate! so a bracelet done in leather strings in that fashion when i was shopping and imidiatly thought this might work as treads... and string is very cheapo so this is so straight up my alley as anything^^
Wow mate , now you are fusing together a new form of model making. This is ground breaking stuff indeed and should be followed through to completion. A macrame tank track is a completely original thing. Take note people this is creativity at its most pure.
high praise man^^ thanks... and i hope my wife will help me through with this as if i was on my own i would fail this attempt^^ but with herthis might work...we use completly different languages when doing this but thankfully she understood as much so that i could come up with these pieces^^
Interesting solution to your problem Vik! Also, that tank design concept so fitsd your army theme, you could have it as a Leman Russ, but steam powered and of a different shape, very nice!
And remember, you can have a bow mounted Heavy Bolter, or Lascannon on that smaller tank, along with sponsons if you desire! Medium tank project for Vik! I still have yet to make that smaller than Perun, bigger than Leman Tank, maybe this will inspire me to do it.
monkeytroll wrote: a mix of PVA and paint should get a nice solid feel to them.
yup my thoughts exactly^^

thanks mate!

thought about that too, will have to see if that is doable...the design is currently in MKIII stage it gets a bit trimmed and tuned for working and desgin reasons but the general design is a keeper...lol^^
Medium tank project for Vik! I still have yet to make that smaller than Perun, bigger than Leman Tank, maybe this will inspire me to do it.
we built together the perun and the big red one so this would be only fitting!!!^^
by the way... there were lots of cool names out there from you guys for the big red one... like:
iron maiden ol' bessy viktory iron lung viktorian pride The duchess red lady The Defiant The Prince Albert Pride of the Empress Big Red Spirit of the Empire Scarlett o'hara Red Devil Crimson Tide The cardinal sin maiden of steel H.M.T. Indominitable Her Majesty's Hammer The Granite Pommie Imperial Ruby
and now from my wife: Red Storm
and from me as i am currently thinking about going into the king arthur saga...: King arthur Uther pendragon Excalibur Lancelot (mostly for Leman russ version...)
it is after all time to name the beast to finally complete her...
Hey man, all your work is great.
I wont pretend to have read the whole forum, because when pressed for time, I just look at pictures. From what I can fathom, you are doing an english victorian steampunk ww1 era themed battlegroup. If Im right on that, you should try and throw in some highland scotts with kilts! They where big in ww1! That`d be sssiiiiiiiiiccccck!

lol... you are all so whacky even i sometimes get surprised^^
definatly british WWI feel to go with viktorian steampunk
and as stated before from shaso, i have made for now a smallish force of kilted warriors...paint has yet to happen to them^^
also i think every new face can be easily forgiven not to read everything from back to fron...er.. or was it the other way round^^...so much jittering around these parts^^ `tis like loitering with me as chef bum^^
well i had a good thinking when making some laundery and then switching over to tankmaking^^ and i think i will go for a name for the big red one with:
EXCALIBUR
i think the whole scheme and the feel of the army would prosper with a bit of a hint of the arthur saga... (is that the right name of the story? if you would now be so good as to use those big heads of yours to come up with some names for the counts as leman russes? that would be apreciated^^
also: chibi, you i think of all the guys here owe us such a piece of fiction for a laaaange time! i would love to read a childrens novel...in fact you can be sure to get that one then read out to my kids as well... they don´t understand zip english but they love to hear me talking gibberish^^ i from time to time read them my terry pratchett books in englsih and felix in particular loves it...great potential right there^^
oh and forgott to say, a first start of the tank was somehow a bit error strucken but i am now on a good way i think^^ updates in the later evening/ night CET
Sir Bors
Percival
Galahad
(the three grail knights in the Morte D'Artur)
Launcelot
Gawaine
Owein
Ector
Kay
Uriens
Can provide a full list but these are the main knights
bit brain dead atm so can't think of the many others that did raze together as two boars and so sorely strike each other that they did brast their launces all to shivers.
The Siege Perilous would be a good name
(It was the seat at the Round Table reserved for a special knight, who turns out to be Galahad) but it sounds good for an engine of war somehow!
The Questing Beast would also be a good name imho Need not mention Arthur or Merlin of course (doh! just did!)

yet again chibi:
I am truly hurt and disappointed that you rejected Nigel the Big Red Tank as the name Vik!
nigel is a cool name and tho i couldn´t bring myself to name the tank that way i sincerely hope you will grace us all one day with a nice story about said red tank named nigel...(no puns inteded...this could be a very nice twist to the general grim dark theme of 40k in a form of an ellipse...like a fable form ASOP and such likes...) and you know you are the one for that kind of job!
well... and now to something completley different...
at least they wore pith helmets^^
promised you dear foloowers of this madness some new footages of my endeavors for the crown...and indeed i did as claimed...
behold... my ever vailiant associates (steelruler, cardboard, knife and cutting mat and my idle fingers...) fought a raging battler to which extent has hitherto not been witnessed...which resulted in the current constructions of coruscant crusiers ... note the part that looks like a fright position... this will later on be used to hold the boiler...hopefully my wife will later on (maybe i can enchant her enough to) start macramme-ing around the place to make me the first two treads... so that i can cut out and complete the set of tracks as shown futher on...
a turret is still in the design phase as i am thinking about a conish or round or other form for it...
i think i will do some kind of defensive sponson weaponry... mabybe my all time favorite would be apropriate... either a gatling or a vickers style gun...
so here are the pics without to much furher addo... see...i am a totally motormouth^^ rowenamosgallant.... read at your own risk^^
Vik has a good start on his smaller tank! I have cut the templates for the track sections for the latest of mine as well, so we shall see what comes of this all.
I think we have a friendly competition of an "arms race" for tanks of odd design! Viks tanks certainly have a place in my seeking out oddball tanks thread.
we porudly broadcast this newsset from straight out of merlin forge productions were our plucky welders and constructionworkers are working feverently on this new lot of steelhides for our beloved and honored majestys forces! may her rule last surprem and forever!

seconly we want you to witness a first glimps of the new fourbarrel vickers special we have developed supremly for this new tankdesign....it sends a stream of bullets to its victims in less then a truning of a hand and in turn it makes any oponent a very sore looser indeed!
lastly we want you to show the sight of any mishappen villian that oposes our forces...they have to face the steely wrath of the newly baptised Flamberge, the swift reaction tank section of her majesties ground forces!
completion of production of the first batallion of these knights will be done shortly so that they can be dispatched to battle the sorry enemys of her majesty!
stay calm and faithfull, and be here next time when we will reveal more to the singing swords...
sorry I haven't been on lately, lots of gaming and skype chats going on.

keep it up mate, and hopefully one day I'll release an update of my own ^^
The sponsons leave me feeling with the idea of,,,,cramped, and not having the 90% angling of the Leman Russ, maybe a re-do of the small sponsons is needed? can it be done?
hmm i figured these are like spearheads ...forward but not realy built for too long survival...so a wide angle wasn´t needed... if i am lucky i can pull off the small stripe of cardboard and allow a wider range then...i have thought about getting certain parts anyway a coat of paper after the built...thus i could cover eventual mishaps...
Well, just saying that if it is Leman like, go all the way and that includes the 90% sponsons. But yeah, you can simply leave it and count it as having the 90% so the Vickers can shoot straight out to the side of the tank.
Hey what's going on here? I miss a day and vik's already built a tank? That can't be right, that's like me putting finished mini's up. He's been hiding that somewhere for sure....
monkeytroll wrote:Hey what's going on here? I miss a day and vik's already built a tank? That can't be right, that's like me putting finished mini's up. He's been hiding that somewhere for sure....
He showed us his tread sections and when he saw my almost finished T-300,( just hours after I started it, ) he was in shock, and that spurred him to build before the Khadrovian military machine out-shone his own.
Very steamy vik! I'll have to agree with shas, that 90 degrees creates a feeling of familiarity, ties it into 40k..little things, always always end up being the big things when you look back.
fear not, the sponsons got a redo today...the 90° are garantied... saw the error of my ways^^

And vik - Sir Percival Bysshe Shelley should be commanding Her Majesty's Tank Prometheus. Get to it
hmmm this sounds like a good name for a hellhound...non?
also no hiding involved...only a minor case of motivation caused by a friendly armsrace...like: is that a nuke you brought with you to class? got enogh for all of the others? sure misstress...one nuke might nuke whole landscapes^^ hurhurhur
at chibi... yep remeber that mythic scne in the movie excalibur... i think i don´t know where all this leads but it might be possible to get a knights name for each tank and thus maybe make a whole battlergroup consisting of each knights name of the round table...
at dstein...
yep small items are the important thing in modeling! definatly and will stay so forever!
at shaso... your measurements helped me to rethink some few things... the sponsons will be shown later on... also worked on the detailwor a bit of the tracks...
currently i am a bit unsure of the style of the turret... you recon this is the way to go? or should i use paper to make it look rather totally round ... would aprteciate your input...
by the way... i had a conceptual thought regarding this battlegroup ...each tank will be set apart... i think i couldn´t bear with having faceless tank in my army... so each one will be made after its own fashion... but still true to a generall design...i hope i have enough creativity in me for that^^
yeah but i also thought about individualizing each tank in more material matters...steampunk is an artform that produces handmade craftsmanship instead of asebly line productions... so each one would look slightly different...this tank for instance has a curved front...the next one could be more blocky looking or the turrets would be built differently... weapon loadsout not regarding this would make individual tanks that still would blend in into an overall scheme...and yep...crew inlfuence is a given thing^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:yeah but i also thought about individualizing each tank in more material matters...steampunk is an artform that produces handmade craftsmanship instead of asebly line productions... so each one would look slightly different...this tank for instance has a curved front...the next one could be more blocky looking or the turrets would be built differently... weapon loadsout not regarding this would make individual tanks that still would blend in into an overall scheme...and yep...crew inlfuence is a given thing^^
I can see different shaped turrets on your tanks for such things.
hmmm, thats thre spirit! also i had just this vision... instead of dozerblades i could come up with a ram? like the tank would be named lancelot... because he lances alot?^^
What you'd want to do for a unicorn-ram would be something like a snowplow, or the prow of a ship- two curved plates, coming together in a point- then the unicorn comes out of that point like the figurehead on a ship.
No, first you need to go to n enchanted forest with a virgin and get her to capture a unicorn for you, then you can tie it to the front of the tank. I'm sure that would all work out well.
And a tank for each of the knights? I seem to recall Malory saying the full complement was 150
well sir robin did indeed run away...and as i recall after the last scenes of Monty Python and the Holy Grail onbly arthur and Bedevere were still there... the rest got mollested by virgins... or were having a good time hanging from trees and getting arested by the police or other pleasantries...
so i am half way through^^
well the idea with the virgin would have been about 8 years too late now...marriage and strange virgins doesn´t go well along^^
at anvildude... hmmm... if i am in a mood i will try myself on that idea...could be nice ideed...
the turret top was very rawwip on that pic it is now a rounded shape and also got a ring around the brim...by the way... this time the tracks will get a cover on the topsections... thus i plan to hide the knots and whatnot that i will be getting when this macramme methode finally kicks into gear...
as for that monsterrabbit of Caerbannog... well i saw someone actually making this one as a demon prince here on this board...
updates of tonights work i will show you fair lot tomorrow...this consists of the top of the mainbody and some sidework and marking the position of the tracks...for tomorrow i will have to copy the detailwork of the first track ...
ouch.... me aching heart... that got straight to into one eye and left through my torn breast....remember... the chief element of steampunk is handcrafted metal and wood...polished and lacquered to a fine look... like a highly valuable piece of furniture or even a musical instrument would look... so the wood i would (hurhurhur) use would still be as tough as armor as steel...for fluff sake^^
really just a steely monster?...
i don´t know if i am capapble of commiting such a style crime...^^
the second one is brilliant! rule britania....!!!! what a song for an army! i watched this song every time on the last night of the proms and it send shivers down my spine...!!!!
i have thought about making treads out of card yet again... but this time with the holepunch for help... to create some patterns...will muse further on this and if something is worthwhile to be posted, i will show you then^^
I say, go with wood on the turret top, upper decking and boiler... it kind of reminds me of the ship called "monitor" used in the American civil war, or the first dreadnought class ships used by the Royal Navy.
I think that a nice oak or very dark mahogany coloured decking would give it a nice luxurious land-ship kind of feel, go with brass trimmings and a dark hull, maybe not red, but a dark grey or black..... then it would fit in with the 32nd (black devils) and you could name it something like the Black Knight, to go alng side your other tank, the Crimson Goddess ( I do not know what name you have chosen, but I like that one)
Work is tanking along full steam ahead on this baby tank, looks like the Von Domm factory is working at maximum efficiency . Love the style already , very creative matey.
Ah, but the Monitor was truly Iron clad above the water line. The wooden section was all under water if at all any wood was used. But I agree, a good Oak a nice hard wood, like iron oak. Painted planks like a oak wood color and then stained for weather sealing.
There is a competition on a friendly scale between the Von Domm Tank factory and the Lenzabi Tank and Motor Works
at lone cat:
no harm came to any animals in this production^^
at dantay:
yep i was all in for lots of wood...the reactions of peeps for the steamboiler for excalibur (thats what i called then the big red one^^) were very encouraging! so there will be lots of wood on this one...
black knight... now this sounds nice... and a referrence to the black devils sounds also very promising! and i see where you are coming from with the monitor...yeah the wooden effect will add a good deal to the steampunky feel of the tank...hopefully...^^
at neil:
yeah full steam indeed! in fact if it wasnt for the treads... my wife had a very hard workday today and the treads are thus still undone... and i am too dumb and a half to do that by myself...the tank could be rolling already....
well^^ oh and thanks mate... getting a
very creative matey
from ye is like getting full marks^^
at shaso:
yep von domm tank and associated productions factory is in full swing...today i covered the treads with a supportive band and they are almost ready to get assembled to the main part...
proof will be uploaded shortly...together with latest works...
good to see, I think this new tank of yours is coming along faster due to experience gained and familiarity with the materials and concepts. and it is smaller.
also it is way sturdier... a feature that was very important for me... the excalibur is much more fragile than is good for me...the turret of the new one is stabilized with cut up pieces of ...don´t laugh now... toiletpaper rolls cut up to height of the turret to make the top sit on it...will take now some pics...
a rounded viewpoint to the front.... note the barrel got filled with glue... later on when painted i will have a nice black hole and not an endless tunnel that i cant paint properly...
second one: i covered the tracks to better support the treads, whatever they may be...when they get glued on...looks like the needed transportband i gather...
topview of the body... as i said lots of rivets added...
the shiny look is from the cardboard that got laminated with PVA... i did that also for a wooden look...i run over with a hard brush when the PVA was curing and got very fine lines thus into the surfaces...hope this will lead to a wooden look...
the upper section of the side got laminated too as also the tracks...this is for sealing the rivets... with my technique to needle them with a spot of PVA and then put them in place, sometimes the rivets come off of rubbed at... thus PVA coat and later on they stay where they should...
now this is my plan B... new shoes for a scratchbuilt tread... what do you think? i did a test version... lots of shoes, glued into place and already primed black and then drybrushed bolgun metal on...you still see some loose shoes there too...i used the holepunch for this job to create a clawlike shoe...
with the tracksystem side by side...
so yer thoughts?
well this is the show and tell of todays amount of work done by von domms tank and associated productions factory...^^
Vik, that is fantastic! You are truly the Master of the hole punch! go with it...except, make the pointy bits point forwards. I really want one of these!
the pointy...clawlike bitz are meant to be the forward ones.... it is meant to claw its way into the ground...hmmm....we´ll see what i will be using tomorrow... i still would like a go with the macramme...^^
The viewport is totally badass Vik, that should be fine oak, but trimmed in brass filgree! Put red velvet curtains inside! Ooh and maybe a gaslight searchlight?
gaslight searchlight... sounds cool...filigre... i wanted to make these smaller ones a bit more spartan looking.... no posh style and fancy silken things...you recon the front viewpoint should be oak too? hmmm have to see if this still can be done...
If you are doing a number of these like a production run and the big one is Excalibur, what about giving them all names from Arthurian legend, like Camelot, Galahed, Guinevere, etc. You could use a dragon sword grail or crown as a tank company symbol too...... Sorry i am starting on now.
i like the viewing area immensely, but with it not centred I assume there will be a gunners compartment next door to it?
dantay... exactly in all concerns! you are stright to the point... i choose the battlegroup to be names the flamberge... a group of at least four (maybe even more) tans that count as Leman russ...each individually named after a certain knight of the round table...the symbol ideas are all cool and i have to see what i can artistically do myself...each one would be a very good fitting one!
also i planned to make a gunners compartment next to the round viewpoint...will have to see how to do that...
thanks shaso^^ i have thought a bit and the thing i lacked doing with excalibur was putting a tad effort into stbility... thus the new tank and others after him will get more and more sturdier! the viewpoint consists of sandwiched cardboardstripes to measure the size of the viewpoint... then those halfdisks to get the form...and ater that then the faceplate and then the viewpoint.... in each step i used quite a lot of PVA that further strenghtened the built! i bet this beast would now survive a full fall from the desk!
todays work went into making cookies^^ and the treadshoes i showed earlier....i have decided to do this tak with the clawtreads and thus i cut more and more out of thick cardboard in the fashion i showed before...then i tried to be really acurate about gluing them in place...the pics you see below will show you that...tho there are some minor glitches due to the strong material i now have to compensate...
if you see the sides of the treads you know what i mean....if you have any ideas how to fix those and make them blend in to a complete structure let me know!
LOL! Dantay, i was tempted, and thought the class is Bogatyr for the T-300, maybe the tank itself will have Potemkiin painted on the turret.
Hmm, vik, any way to make those claws "crimped, so that part of the shoes lay "flat" and the claws overlap the flat plates, like the WWI tanks did? (that is some chewy looking card stock there!)
Look close, you will see they have a "lifted section to each shoe allowing that overlap.
Automatically Appended Next Post: even better shot
i decided to go for very thick cardboard for the shoes...hmmm... i think this is now to late to do...
a potemkin class tank would have to be even bigger than the perun i figure....hell i am already sold on that idea^^ a true landship....like:
just for the lulz^^
well dantay... can happen to overlook.... for my taste some blogs are way to texty^^ mine too^^lol
i saw yesterday the red lion on a coat of a singer from the royal albert hall...a proms.... looked quite good.... but i cant seem to be up to that job i think.... crown and grail tho could be more my cupa tea^^
Automatically Appended Next Post: one day i have to get me a plastic kit of a mark V....or a tadpole even....dang^^
But the images show how crimping might shift the shoes? I hope it is not impossible. Also, may want to just have a flat surface for the bottoms, this way the eweight will look like it is making the tank sit in the ground, I may take that Akuyku and at least clip off the bottom shoe cleats.
i had thought that too to leave the shoes off on the bottom...for a sunkien in look...
do you have any ideas to crimpen the shoes i already glued and hardned?
Unfortunately I can't think of a way to save the ones you already glued vik. It's either go with those or re-do them I think.
Shame, as they look excellent otherwise.
If you re-do them, or utilise the same design again I'd suggest the flat piece you glued the shoes to should be recessed slightly, so the 'claws' are visible from the side, but the gaps are hidden.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Hmm, might it be possible to remove the whole track section and trim a mm or two off the edge so you could recess it?
Great progress Vik , the new tank treads look really effective , i also like the sunken look, as i can imagine it in the deep mud up to its knees ;-) ( if it had any )
The idea fro the knights of the round table as names is appropriate for these armored knights of the realm. what names have you decided on ?
at monkey... i fear i will have to cover the not so nice looking sides of the treads...dunno how but i will make an attempt at that tomorrow...to remove the tracks or the "belt" or any such things would result i think in the destruction... i shoveld my own grave by aplying again and agian PVA on the system.... this makes it one piece now i think....well we live and we learn...
at neil...
for now dantay had suggested the black knight for this tank... i dunno if i choose this yet or another one... i can think of making as much as the prominent ones of the table rounde for the tankslist...so there will be a gawain, lancelot and so on...
i wish the game would allow bases for vehicles.... then this could be properly based and i wouldn´t have to think about that^^
Sounds like a new addition to the wall or armor of the track section to cover the sides of the shoes it is then, (I see more rivets on the way!)
Well, while it is permissible to place a tank on a base of sorts, much times the terrain would likely hamper your movements as the base gets caught on terrain.
Well, while it is permissible to place a tank on a base of sorts, much times the terrain would likely hamper your movements as the base gets caught on terrain.
yup your right, but even cause your right doe´sn´t mean i can be wrong^^ and feel bad about it^^
i think widening the outer armor of the tracks is the way to go... IF i am able to get it as thin so that it doesnt get too much covering the treads now this is a whole new thing^^ and this will ultimatly show if rivets are needed...hmmm
I think shaso's thinking of a strip that extends over some of the existing armour, and vik's thinking of adding a thin strip flush with the old armour to extend the current armour just enough to cover the bottom of the shoes?
i think the first version is much more doable than just covering the accusing area....hmmm.... i knew when logging in today for a check a good idea would be there to read and prosper form^^
at shaso... i am already using smallest rivets.... until i am ableto get my paws on a smaller holepunch it is 2mm that is my smallest size...there are of course smaller ones around...but i haven´t got one^^
at monkey
And I think that's a badly worded sentence.
thats understandable to me and thus allowed... also i think my spelling style has much(ly^^) degraded in the last weeks.... like someone is putting a spell on me^^
i am currently chasing after such a device... found one via ebay.... but i would like to have it in my hand before buying one... i once bought me a holepunch and that was crappy as hell... it bend itself instead of cutting the card.... now that is what i call NOT a bargain^^
today was marked by the packing of some stuff for our starting small trip off to some needed battery recharging.... yes we will be heading a bit into the hills of good old germany with kids and stuff and hopefully will be having a good time...
so not much work done, but this is my attempt to compensate the errors of the sides caused by the shoes of the treads....
used simpel string to cover it up....two rows of that will cover it nicely i think and the end and beginning will get hidden under a treadcover plate...see perfect ending^^ and to hopefully satisfy any contra arguments.... i plan on making these stringcovers to be brassen...see nice idea....non?^^
vik
oh and dstein... sometimes i find riveting with such mall bitz quite relaxing.... i have coined the phrase rivet -zen^^
Rivet-zen! LOL! great bit there Vik! glad to see you have things in hand there, and I also am letting you know of the massive picture dump i planted on my thread for you guys to follow.
A banding of brass so fits your concepts Vik, absolutely brilliant!
A Capital idea as they would ay in Victorian, (or in your case, Viktorian) times. You also came out with a way to have Leman russes w/o buying the kits!
Names of Arthur & the knights:
King Arthur
Sir Galahad
Sir Lancelot
Sir Kay
Sir Gawain
Sir Bors de Ganis
Sir Geraint
Sir Lamorak
Sir Gareth
Sir Tristan
Sir Gaheris
Sir Percivale
Sir Bedivere
You forgot the brown leather elbow patches and the tweed cap. There are a lot more knightly names. I played tribalwars a while back and had around 45-50 villages before i gave up all named to arthurian legend.

I can't find the list in my Morte D'Artur
Could swear there is one that goes on a bit so that ones' eyes glaze over.
May well have been edited out of your edition Monkeytroll for such reasons
I need a better edition tbh The one I have was edited by a well meaning Victorian who wished to produce a version that could be read by boys without corrupting them with tales of lust and violence.
How times have changed!
have found an abridged Morte D'Arthur which won't have the list in but will have knights in the lists I trust
Forgot I had this one
Adam knew Eve
which is a big help in matters of procreation
I mean it is hard to reproduce with someone you have never met. Long distance relationships can only go so far so to speak.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Dsteingass, if you look at the way the guys at GW set up Europe, Germany was where the old maps of the Imperial palace were set, and Brazil was the great library, and England was the Ecclesiarchy seat.(I think)
And i found Vik's Unicorn ram tank!! so he is on to something!
