Phone was dead, otherwise I would have posted sooner... You just can't pass up a photo opportunity with the greatest actor ever.

Not real, but a true 1:1 scale wax replica of the man, could see every detail of the man.

Some unemployed flop. Think he used to be something in retail, but not sure. I have more pictures from the wax museum including the back of Bruce's head in case anyone needs detail shots the wax figures at the museum were amazing. There a statue of some famous female photographer in one of the rooms we were walking through, my wife waited for two minutes to walk in front of her because she thought it was another tourist taking pictures , we didn't see the marvel 4D adventure in the same building, but it was a great exhibit none the less.

For now I leave you with an answer to why Einstein's hair was always messy. You see there was this really annoying bully that would taunt him every day. Later Einstein created nuclear power and the bully had to clean up after Einstein. Einstein May have had terrible hair, but at leasthis didn't fall out moral of the story if your going to be a bully, make sure the guy you pick on can't design weapons of mass destruction .

@vik, Einstein was indeed keeping himself busy. thankfully the mods have obliterated my pics, now no one will know who I am .
@shaso, that's in stein with his hand in his pants, I'm the goof messing up his hairdo.
@dr. H, you should have seen the picture of me with president George w. Bush. He had his had out looking for money so I got a snap of me handing him my credit card .
@dave, it was a great little side excursion. Lots of possibilities. One guy go a picture of his kid looking up Monroe's dress in a recreation of he famous scene .

So glad to be home. Kids are good, but the house is a disaster, just spent two hours cleaning. My other eBay order (for he custom decals) came, but the person shrunk it down to four per sheet so they were too small to use, sent the guy an email. You'd think that someone in he business of making decals would understand that SIZE MATTERS.

@dave, I'll mess itch photobucket this week, never created an account.

My wife deleted a Whole bunch of scenery pics didn't know hey I needed pics of industrial parks, rusty metal bridge parts, and sidewalks.

Wife needed a nap and kids wanted tv over cuddles. They have priorities as they only get electronics on the weekends, and were back for good. That gave me time to paint, so...

I think I need to pick up codex dark angels, cause I'm enjoying painting terminators. He's only partway done and I need to do some conversions on him to finish him up. His hammernators also o another basecoat of yellow and then the first highlight of yriel yellow.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Latest update on terminator sergeant, counts as Lysander.

His head is there in the pics. It's just he has a cowl and a mask on, which covers most of his face, then brown hair. I or got to o his eyes, that has since been rectified.

A good nights sleep and hugs from the kids fix about everything, but you know that to vik.

Painted for an hour today, of course it wasn't to finish any o the WIP pieces, but a new captain/ sergeant.

Also got a box in the mail and ripped it open, started gluing together and having fun before realizing it wasn't my order WGF sent me someone else's arms for their leviathan, I thought he order was a bit on the light side. Just contacted them, my order is still enroute to me, hopefully I can just take my stuff from the new box and send that back, as I don't think they want it back assembled. Otherwise I hope they give me the kickstarter price for these.

@comradepanda, he was originally my devastator company captain in my old chapter, now he's just a survivor.
@dave, his cloak I'll get more work in the near future.

In the mean time the leviathan got a hand and gun.

Here it is as the mortar.

And here with its slaaneshi cannon attachment.

Post by: Viktor von Domm

Slaaneshi cannon attachment...lol...

The highlights got shown off very good on these pics of yon titan...
The new captain looks good, although for my taste the gizmo on his back is a bit too large...

And boy, you have nerves dust ripping and glueing packets of other peeps together/apart...I always double check mine...not that I open a package of my wife...she would get furious about it no doubt...and we even share the same bed...no doubt someone has views about that behavior of yours to others property...tststs...you're in trouble noo

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/10/23 09:35:04

Post by: Theophony

Package was labeled an addressed to me, so no problems opening and building them. I went or the marathon approach. Open the box then grab one, build it, grab another and build it. It wasn't until I realized that there was only one layer of arms in the box that I had been shorted, then I dug the packing slip out and saw a different name attached . It's hard to remember what you order when the kickstarter is his late. The product is fantastic, and I will buy more when possible, but I'm glad I didn't order any wave three stuff. The kickstarter ended a year ago and these were about six months late.

modeling will be cut back a lot here shortly. Unfortunately I haven't been paying enough attention with school stuff, and have to get my in gear. I'll try and post from time to time, but this life thing has caught up to me again. Hopefully today's net review goes well. I really need to get something on that front happening. It's been unfair to my wife for her working so hard. I know she appreciates what I do around the house and with our kids, but I just feel like I'm a drain on the family if I'm not bringing home the bacon so to speak. I have no delusions, she's going to make more than me with her degrees, I just want to feel productive in a non miniature way.

You guys have been great, a blessing in a rough patch, and I plan on still being here. I just need to trim back all my fun time stuff to work on higher priority stuff.

John

Leviathan looking awesome and the captain / sergeant is probably your best figure yet

As to your reduction in hobby time, sad to hear but totally understand - RL has a habit of throwing the odd curve ball at us - Dakka will be all the more quieter though without your production line style updates

We'll all still be here though when you have time to check back in

I like the Captain's yellow belt for some reason.
Nice work all over. Like the big gun on the laviathan.

Sometimes, just sometimes, there are higher priorities to modelling. Happens to everyone, but we (as the gestalt Dakka) will still be here.

@ruglud, thanks mate, I'll still be checking in like now while th kids are getting ready for school. Never thought about the mirrors you'd think with the tech to build leviathans they could have the back up video monitors.
@dr. H, the yellow belt really does make the model, he's ready for the fashion show runway now.
@shaso, I love the look of the hanomags, and they are roughly the size of land raiders so they can fit the troops.

Should be doing school work......but ups got here while I was at my interview.
Glue has been thrown and knife has been flicked.

The hel cannon and ripper saw, the last two arms that I didn't have done already.

Everything went smoothly with the build, directions were great, only stumbling part was no screws , as with the other 4arms, there were no screws in the box, don't think the claws are supposed to have them, but the gun arms show them for the joints. I made due with superglue though.

Eat your heart out GW, I have a ranged attack with my chain fist now

Interview was great, pretty sure I have the job if I wan it, only glitch is starting pay. Hey are looking into what they can do. The hospital is part of a chain here in MO, and has been selected no. 1 place to work in St. Louis for the last 4 years. The benefits are excellent with paid time off, medical and dental, and all the trimmings. Forgot to check about tuition reimbursement, but I'll save that till I get an offer. Also got other callbacks today, so things have finally turned around there.

Somehow both of the twins broke their glasses yesterday at school, so I'm off to get them repaired, then parent teacher night tonight for all three of them......fun.

Talk about best laid plans and all... I should do so much for school, but instead of doing papers I bake cookies or clean the house, or paint my tank
I totally feel your paint here

The chainsword arm reminds me of a big open mining tool...I always wonder how this was supposed to work as a weapon...wouldn't the enemy's vessels get propelled backwards???

Magnetic rivets vik they pull the opposing vessel onto the blade more than the force pushes them off.

Painted up the nova cannon during movie time.

Also found the answer to the age old question of how storm talons take off when their VTOL systems breakdown.

They get a gentle toss from a leviathan. I'm thinking of using this set up as the base for the storm talon at the flgs,

Good thing I don't have a pilot in the storm talon then .

Worked on the ripper before everyone woke up.

Still need some touch ups, kids got up and said they are hungry so I'm making my banana pancakes. There's a problem with the dreamforge weapon arms, they were supposed to come with left and right shoulder armor, but only came with one , so right now I'm not building the armor on, hopefully they will ship those out to the is investors, but not sure yet.

Also storm raven

and those big hazard stripes on the blade look DA BOMB

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/10/26 21:42:11

Post by: Theophony

I'm just a light sleeper, and need to better watch what and when I eat, both of which I'm not very good at . I've been sleeping really well the last couple days, almost 9hours last night. My kids though sleep 10-11 hours on a good night, wore them out last night so they got 11 which gets me quiet painting time as my wife slept in longer as well.

The hazard stripes were really simple with the blade being so large (that's what she said). I was able o use my angle guide from the chop it iii and run it along the bottom of the blade, and measure the gaps between with a ruler. Then I used a fin point marker to create the dividing lines. Those stripes are 3/4" wide just for size reference.

Just finished carving pumpkins for Halloween with he kiddos. Our church is having a bonfire tonight, roasting marshmallows for s'mores, and chilli dogs for dinner. Services ill be warm in the morning even though temperatures have been low this last week. It feels like winter I right now.

Post by: Viktor von Domm

strangley we had around the last week around 20° celsius...thats 68° F for you... in mid octobre... not something you see here every year...but weird...as it gets rather dark around five o clock already...
but now it is starting to get really autum like too...with a hint of winter too...

ok... can´t ven remember the time when i had nine hours of sleep...^^...and my kids... well we don´t have any sleeping problems with them... the get to be rather easily...most of their friends really are quite bothersome in that department instead...but they usually wake up on a free day around seven... and me and my wife later......in fact i often am the one that gets up the latest...^^

i was about to get us a pumpkin for all hallows eve too...but as we went shopping by bicycle i didn´t had enough strage room for that too... so bound to happeb this week...tomorrow we need to bake cookies and cake for each kids school/kindergarden party at halloween...we will make nice pumkinlooking cookies for oskar and a cake with moon and vampire yellybabies for felix... i will make pics if they look good enough^^

with the hazard stripes... i think you need to weather these......and even tho or rather because...they look perfect these need to get weathered with lots of scratches^^

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/10/27 02:45:10

Post by: Theophony

Nine hours of sleep usually means I'm getting over being sick.

I don't like doing weathering, well just haven't tried it yet, but not going to happen on the leviathan . See my tech priests know ho to slop paint, and the servitors know how to wash vehicles. We don't slack off of the cleaning, it is a special rite that must be maintained for everything to work right.

Bonfire at church was fun, but it was so cold that whatever side wasn't facing the fire was frozen, and whatever was got really hot. I took pictures o the glowing fire for future reference I love people's lava bases, but they never seem right to me.

ah the half baked half frozen human concept... I am quite firm in that department. .... lost almost my eyebrows to a bonfire some years ago... and during military I almost ruined my boots due to too close exposure to fire...the soles literally came of due to the heat

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/10/27 10:28:55

Post by: Theophony

@comrade, thanks, but right now no weathering it's more of a choice than not knowing.
@vik, no eyebrows? Are you becoming observer vik? and we had so many separate conversations about melted shoes last night as well.

I wanted to talk about about ancient tortures last night with people talking about how hot the fire was, but didn't think it appropriate. The only distraction was the World Series game was going on at the same time and as our team was playing, everyone was checking the score on their smartphones. It's big deal around these parts of cardinal nation.

I was lucky my eyebrows only got oghtly scorched...my mother in law is of the kind of people that rather burns stuff aka junk instead of paying for the fee garbage takeaway costs...ever seen yellow green smoke???...some peeps behave like pigs...but I was helping her so I'm guilty by association....guess I was under the influence of the new son image, where you act extra co-operative...

And what did you want to talk about yesterday? Your iPad is giving extra weirdness again

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/10/27 12:19:31

Post by: Theophony

Vik being he good son in law .

Fixed the iPad goof, to early when I posted, or too late, I forget. I read about the way people were tortured with their feet put close to a roaring fire. The fat in their body would bubble and melt and their feet would slowly be burned off. Only the bones would last, but the people would live, and sometimes the tortures would hand them their leg bones which had fallen off. The greatful survivors would even thank their torturers for their legs back . Makes modern waterboarding seem civilized.

Where we used to live allowed burning of trash part of the year, but not all the time. One of my coworkers was burning his garbage when he saw the neighbors had tossed junk onto his pile. Unfortunately they had thrown a half full bottle of some combustible fluid on there. It exploded and caused some heat burns across his face. He's fine, but needed to put ointments on his face for a few weeks and go painkillers, it wasn't a pretty sight .

Forgot to show my gang, trying to get the brother in law to play necromunda. I'll play them as van Saar, limiting myself to the weapons on sprue.

Leader, auto pistol, grenade launcher, frag grenades
4 gangers, auto guns
3juves, auto pistols
Heavy, auto pistol, missile launcher, frag missiles.

@damo, couple weeks , but I am totally drained on ideas, even assembling the dreamforge stuff for counts as van Saar hasn't stirred me into production.

Tried to get some hobby mojo going late last night, but just not happening . Cleared my hobby desk, got stuff out o do terrain, put it right back. Got new colors of paint out, put them back. Watching final season of fringe, want to turn it off, but so close to the end.

I guess she has an internship? Otherwise why work if our not getting paid...or stinking rich?

Not a lot of motivation with modeling. The dreamforge stuff was out so I thought I'd play around with some more troops, but instead thought vertically.

Van Saar climbing he corporate ladder. All parts are straight from the sprues. Mark has so many options on their it's rediculous. The Luger is actually two parts, handle/hand and then the gun. I love the helmets, but for necromunda purposes he's just getting a hat like the rest.

I've had one of the mules assembled for months now, but since I have 8 more unassembled I thought I'd try to make something out of another one.

I'm going to add wheels (2 front and 1back) plus some stabilizers to make the base of a thunderfire cannon. Not going too well right now, pics maybe later this week.

@Bama, If they do, they're probably making kimchi out of it.
@brian, they have the pics up of the marines, multipart plastic , I hope they do the apc, and the dropship, but that would be huge on a table.

Well got more info for my job, orientation on the 9th , need to go get a physical this week, and send over other info.

In the mean time the baddest trike ever.

The solo wheel pivots, as does the turret 360 degrees, and raises and lowers the barrel.

I was thinking of a gun line marine army last night.

Use iron hands rules.
Hq= 2x master of the forge with conversion beamers (book no longer has 0-1 in their description), which then allows up to 2 techmarines with 4 servitors each, 2 each with plasma cannons, that's a lot of bolstered defenses.
Elites= 3 dreadnoughts with dual twin linked auto cannons.
Troops= bare tactical squads for capturing objectives and being meat shields.
Fast= 3 storm talons ( only if I have points left over, anti air)
Heavy= 3 thunder trikes , to stall the enemies, and blow them up.
Fort= defense line with quad gun.

I knows it's spamming to the max, my worries are tank heavy armies, but might give the marines meltas, unless the conversion beamers can line the big boys up. Put one in each corner for the higher range hits.

Didn't take long for inspiration to return.
ThunderTrike looks good, but I think it could do with a little more bulk/weight to the platform body. Maybe just like mudguards on the rear wheels, or something just to make it look heavy (so it functions as a firing platform).

@dr. H, I need to still trim the extra axel length off the tires, and I was thinking of building some bracing legs for it as well.

Just watched the last of fringe this morning , glad season 5 is over, but I want more Walter. They could do a spin off Walter 2167, where Walter introduces a technologically advanced culture to LSD , he culture quickly turns into a caveman society where everyone walks around naked and has pet cows. So glad Walter go o say goodbye to gene, even though she was in amber. To bad she never got to meet her grandfather in the show.

That pun... is huge... and possibly black and white humor here. Nice thunder trike, 3 thunder trikes is a great support of fire. The dreadnoughts are not doing much for you. Lose them, take 3 storm talons instead - more viability/options. Take 4-5 5 man tactical squads as troops, maybe some servo sniper scouts. Tech marines with power fists can punch those tanks open if your conversion beamers wont do it.

They come three to a box out of the Dreamforge stormtrooper accessories set. with tons of weapons, bits, stick grenades, and military crates. They are a great value. I picked up three during the kickstarter, and I think they sent me one extra by accident (they shorted me on something else), but told me to keep it and sent the missing other item. Dreamforge and Wargamesfactory have beenexcellentwith fixing problems, wish they were a little more accurate with their expected shipping times, but the models more than make up for it.

@comrade, thanks, I'll look into that build, but I only have one storm talon, though I'd like to have more , also I just like the idea of a gun line with dreads and cannons, and marines to boot.
@Brian, Yeah, I know the feeling. Though the Predator minis they've shown are gorgeous.
@ Dr. H, I'm just at a loss for how to do the legs, maybe later this week.
@Dave, golf is no good around here. But Maybe for minigolf, but with it being Minigolf I just see shrine cars for some reason.
@ Shaso, Back in Black....and yellow.

Need to get a haircut for my photoshoot tomorrow. I go for the physical, blood work, TB test, and paperwork. I'm really tempted to shave my head, beard and eyebrows two for one as I will be mr. clean at work and I can be an observer for halloween. My wife would have a fit so it's actually a triple play

You keep thinking about building marines. I'm thinking about rebuilding Tau. Mainly because no one wants to buy this off of me.

Chapterhouse super heavy tau walker.

I've seen an excellent version of his painted up like a robotech Valkyrie, which leads me to think multipurpose. I didn't get in on the robotech kickstarter, but this could be a great enemy vehicle/vessel as well as tau super heavy.

So started painting again. The dreamforge guys still need a color pattern that I like, so thought I would try a desert camo, never really gave it a go before. Does it need white in it?

Base is rakarth flesh, spots of bestial brown and Gretchen green.

Nice pattern. I feel the green could be a little darker/more obvious. At a distance I don't think it'll show (although you'll be better to judge as it's there with you).

I don't think it needs white. Little flecks are an option, but not necessary.

My kids are off school today, so we swung overto grandmas house, while they hang with grandma I'm headed to the GW store. Been there once before, wasn't impressed, and what I see throught the front window I'm still not. They open in ten minutes and the guy has seen me standing outside for the last half hour. So as I was typing my last little post a teenager with his grandparents walk up and try the door, still locked, but the mployees sees grandparents and $$$$ so opens up for them . I walked in too and began shopping. Listened in on him trying to sell the new hhhobbyist a tyranids codex, I almost jumped in to tell him it will be outdated in a couple months, but I bite my tongue. The kid got a battle force and hive tyrant, primer , glue , and a couple pots of paint . Total was over $200.00 easy.

GW idea of a one man store is stupid, but I guess I works good enough to cash in on the uninformed, and those new to the hobby. I didn't buy anything, even gave the guy an opportunity as I told him I wanted to build a new army, but couldn't decide on which one. He was distracted by a regular coming in for a game, I guess they have Friday night tournaments.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Not much time yesterday with the kids off school, but I I'd lay down some base coats last night/this morning. This is my last weekend before going back to work, so will be pending time with the family .

@cam, I've had those plates for about as long as FW has had them on their site, these are just repainted. And thanks
@nerdfest, much like you I just cleaned some shelves to make space. I'll get a Jammed pic up post haste.

In the mean time, I started a drop pod repaint, but need input. I think the colors are too......not sure, too much yellow on the whole, or do you think this is good right now. This is not h final yellow stage just my blocked in colors. Should the top yellow fins be different color, or the side fins be changed, or keep it as is? Need quick response before I get too far.

Army pics thus far....
What's on the desk, 6 assault marines base coated. 4 deathwatch sternguard in their scythe of the emperor colors, and 10 dreamforge guys with their yellow basecoat.

You can see two tanks on the desk as well.
On the shelf crammed together.

I'll have to get them all laid out one day

This summer, at GenCon, the GM for our Apocalypse game was using the ipad 40k rulebook. It was surprisingly intuitive to use. Much more than a simple PDF, it had a very useful search feature. There is just something about having a paper book in your hands though....

@dr. H, thanks, the pod will have white eagles on it and the tactical symbols will be white as well.
@dave, I got the hardcover book, I tried one of the free I books, I liked it, but I like paper more.
@cam, I guess I need to show off all the marine madness again, its been a while.

Here's some fin options. I think I'm leaning towards black with the internal yellow stripe.

But there's also white

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/05 10:39:43

Post by: SirDonlad

try keeping the fins yellow and painting the bit you called the 'internal stripe' boltgun metal (or is it leadbelcher?)

the coulor scheme looks good; adding some metallic parts might couter-balance the yellow?

maybe the little linkages between the fins and the main body of the pod could go metallic as well? and maybe the stuff you left unpainted could look good metallic (with heat dicouloration round the vents perhaps?

but, at the end of the day; its your model mate - paint it how you like it.
the moment you start worrying about what people think is the moment you are dancing to someone else's tune - screw that.

@vik, no hazard stripes, I glued the doors shut, and if a marine drop pod isn't scary enough.....one in bumblebee colors should be

Got the yellows done, and the fins sorted.

I need to stretch, and get a new brush or two. Maybe some more yellow and black paint, for some reason those keep disappearing . I'm trying not to breakdown and buy any new models, the only marine ones I don't have are centurions, and I really dislike those, but I keep wondering if I could mod them somehow to make them look decent.

@vik, they pidgeon holed these dumb things into the history. They are exposure for on top of the power armor. They are to lay down withering amounts of fire, and look silly in the process. There are also assault versions of them.

Well just got to one of the flgs that I usually don go to. They open in ten minutes. I've only been here three times in the twenty years it's been opened. It's just out of the way. But it is the only place I ever saw man o war being played, that was fifteen years ago though.

@nafarious, clean the table with your opponent, then be like "anybody can win with these models" then take the money the first person gives you and buy your blood angels
@comrade, that line might work on nerdfest, but these raiders are staying put.

One side completed, black and yellow highlighted, might hit the leadbelcher with a bit of chain mail. The flgs stop was a bust. They had tons of stuff, and. Might go there more often, but nothing called out to me. Especially the centurion stacks they had there.

I'm at this point where discussing the Scythes of the Emperor I realized I have way more models Han I need for my chapter. At mos the scythes have 180 marines left. Now I could just keep building them and I'll eventually have the full chapter again. Right around the year 40k when they are fully restored to strength. OR I could build a second marine army with what I have , the only question is who to build?

Either way I've got plenty of me to decide who they will be.

At $140.00 I think not , think the forgeworld ones might be cheaper

Finished the drop pod

Hopefully it's up to everyone's approval. Now to find something else to paint I think I have a volunteer, its what happens when something sits on the desk too long.

Thanks dave

Yeah, it just got bumped a couple months back with the new apocalypse book. It now has the option to do both the bane blade and storm lord boxes, so 8 possible builds in the box. I think they did it so to cut the sales of it to hurt people like machinator who sell conversion bits for it. Or just to pump sales of the forgeworld variants .

Holding off on buying anything big for now. Might buy a mini leviathan when they hit the shelves, but so far no one has them except WGF, and they don't have their buy three and get 15% off anymore from what I see.

Okay, so a bike under coated, I honk they might just become all black or all yellow what do you guys think? Or one color for troopers and one for characters?

Also, iron man joins the team, why???..........why not?

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/06 07:55:45

Hmmm...wouldn't iron man be a most excellent proxy for a dreadknight? And if so...then the next chapter would be cool to include this model as it then could be a bunch of fancy schmancy grey knights? Of course not JUST grey but with a cool paintscheme of course

Post by: dsteingass

I think they just put the stormlord sprues into the same box. GW has a LOT of active SKUs all the time. But $40?? You'll always have extra turrets and superstructure bitz, great for conversions etc. But if you decided to build a unit of 3, you'd have a lot of spare parts.

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/06 12:38:05

Post by: Theophony

@dr. H, no weathering , I haven't gotten brave enough for that yet. Maybe when I get the whole shebang done then I'll go and do that. Good call on the monotone as well. I'll have to keep playing around with the pattern.
@ruglud, yes definitely genetically enhanced and in an armored shell.
@vik, I could kiss you.....except of course you in Germany and I'm here....we're both men....married....balding....Internet high five instead? I've been wanting to do counts as grey knights, but couldn't think of an idea, the mini leviathans were always part of that plan. Here's Valhallan42nd picture of his mini leviathan crusader 15mm scale on an oval base with other models to compare.

Now thanks to Vik, with an assist from Ruglud with the word "ceramic". I think I have a cunning plan. Another not to well known chapter of space marines that also fits the iron man concept, which could be why all the suits give the wearers extra powers, hence the grey knights. The only thing scaring me about doing these guys is the colors, I'll swing by the flgs this morning to pick up what I don't have color wise.

I've always struggled with white, and not a fan of green either, but lets give it a try

The other option I wanted to do of grey knights was a play on he name and to the Gay Knights. Assaulting the morality of this world with their hot pink armor and possibly feather boas . But that might be insensitive

Just got a call for another interview. Might not pay as much, but its in retail, which I actually love. Plus it's walking distance from my house, so no gas or vehicle wear. Interview is in a couple hours. I probably wouldn't have to clean up other people's bodily fluids either, or not as often. It would also be better hours than nights, and weekends. Here's hoping.

On another front I took my care for an oil change, long overdue , but then they showed me my radiator hose about to burst, and my rear brakes . Well who needed that $400.00. I'll just tell my kids that were turning atheist and won't be celebrating Christmas after all.
They finished the repairs, and are on their way to pick me up at home. Luckily my wife went to school with the owners wife so we get parts at cost and minimal labor. He saved me $200.00 off the regular price.

Iron man is done, except for some magnetizing and add on equipment. Pics later, if I'm able between the interview, and school tonight.

Edit:
Iron scythe

Shoulder cannon

Shoulder magnet

Missile pod

Big daddy cannon

Still working on big daddy cannon magnets.

Thanks dave I appreciate it .

Luck so far is going both directions today. First the car bill then the interview , now i check the mailbox before going out the door to find this.

New product from poweredplay gaming , even better it was all given to me by the owners as I used their stuff to light up my leviathan and got a few others to order from them as well I'm cunning like that. They had used the leviathan on their site too. So they sent m the new switch set/alpha kit, the new fiber optics sampler kit, and two new batteries. This is huge

Thanks Chris and Chris

Waiting for the interview now. Will let you all know afterwards. You'll probably get an answer before my wife , as she'll be in a meeting after school.

Well, started my working experience in retail , so I am biased about it...when I m concerned I'd rather clean bodily fluids than sell any yogurt to anyone... But if you love it I wish you all the best

kissing might indeed produce a help lot of new problems in our lifes...maybe when the kids are all grown up?

We recently had to kiss our car good bye...the outstanding repairs would have costed us too much so now we are fulltime pedestrians again... In Berlin an option that is actually viable...in the United states of A probably not likley...

The grey knight chapter scheme reminds me of the eldar biel'tan scheme... so you will have quite some xenophobian elves in powerarmor joking here as I would like to see that scheme done by you...bright green and off white or more dreamlike white...probably something dashingly good-looking I am sure!!!

@graven, I've seen some cool mentor legion stuff out there including an all left handed army .
@vik, the pedestrian lifestyle could happen, but less people would go to church, because even though there's one on each corner, it would always be a different faith than what you are
@dsteingass, experience isn't the problem, its pay. I have all the skills, but they could hire two part timers for almost the same as a full timer, and not have to do benefits. We'll see with obamacare .

Interview went well. He knows a couple of my former bosses, ones his best friend. He knows I have the skills, but pay is the problem, plus its only part time, No benefits, and they are going into the slow time o the year. They'll let me know by the weekend. Unfortunately I start the other job on Saturday,so if they could get me the pay and the hours, I'll be burning the other job.

I'll most likely be a janitor, no problem either way. Thanks for your best wishes and prayers.

Dude, where have you been for the past 15 years?? Companies have been doing that crap long before ACA was a thought. You really don't want to see that do you? YOU and I paid good tax money already to pay those companies to screw us.

I don't know about St. Louis area, but around here, NO new homes have been built, only new/expanded hospitals and Insurance company buildings have been constructed in the past 10 years. Wall St. writes their own legislation and funds political campaigns on both sides and gets OUR tax money to ship jobs overseas and pay Executives 330 times the salaries they got paid a decade before. I don't see how a man as intelligent as yourself can TRULY believe that this Healthcare stuff is to blame?? Unless you listen to Talk Radio or Fox News, in that case, you're REALLY duped my friend.

@dave, oh I know how bad its been, and how the pharmaceutical companies and wall street have ruined America, just saying about the blight that obamacare is/will be. Some of the people I know from church wok at other hospitals, and hey are more in the know than I am, an hey are worried. I am so disconnected from news radio it's sad I actually get more world news from you guys

Well, decided to basecoat something else before bed.

I like those DUST rocket tubes on top!

I worked at a hospital for 5 years, I attended numerous meetings and conferences and Joint Commission inspections, Hospitals (at least the small town one I worked at, mostly populated by old people) get 80% of their revenue from Medicare and Medicaid. They don't get paid when people get sick and go bankrupt and head into financial ruin because they can't pay their bills. Profiting on sick and dying people is just wrong dude. It's no different than owning all the water in town and letting people die of thirst because they can't pay for it.

Healthcare, like Road repair is an economic bads-good, meaning it should be handled by Governments because when handled by for-profit shareholder boards, greed ruins it for the customers. And dying customers is bad for business.

About 15 years ago, the Ohio Turnpike was handed over to a private firm, as a result, that is now the crappiest stretch of road in the entire state. Half of the rest stops/service plazas are gone now too.

On a totally different note the hospital called, orientation was cancelled because of construction this weekend, they tried to move me to another orientation on Monday (holiday here in the US), but I already tried to find a sitter as my kids are off school and my wife has a teacher work day. So the next available orientation is the following Monday and I will have to be late for that because it starts before my kids get on the bus for school and It's a hour drive in traffic from my house. @Shaso, Thanks, hopefully their sting is more potent, or my enemies are allergic to bumble bees.
@Nafarious, The space chicken is the converted plane there made from parts of the stormraven, drop pods, sentinels and plasticard. It was meant for a servo skull army to be fielded as either a storm raven, storm talon, or land speeder. I have other pics of it in one of my galleries, I think under the necromunda one. The landing gear look like chicken legs, but they can pick up a dreadnought, so that's how I could use it as a storm raven.

got the base layer of black on the other speeders. will see about doing more painting tomorrow

Investment was made long ago. Commitment was renewed with the color scheme, it's the right amount of obnoxious yellow and basic black to keep me going, and it's oddball enough of a chapter where I'm not stuck with story written by mat ward.

I played one game of third edition, then our group all came down with serious cases of life. I actually haven't mini gamed in years, and it's been about 4 years since I role played. I'd love to get back into it. But even playing bloodbowl with the brother in law has been hard to do over the last few months because of different things going on. There's enough gaming stores around me that I could get back into it easy enough, but when I go up and the gaming is happening there's always one load mouth that's cussing up a storm. That's one thing I really don't stand for. When I managed a comic shop and a hobby town USA, cussing was the first way to get you thrown out. I had to throw out one of my groomsmen and ban him and another guy from the store because they got into an arguement over fantasy in front of a mother and her son who were just starting to look into the game. The mom left with a huge purchase not bought on the counter, never saw them again.

Post by: Nafarious

Yea I curse a lot and when I am at the FLGS I have to watch it, because I will get called out on it and if I do it again after that I will be asked to leave :/ it is something I ended up letting myself do too much and now I need to chill out with cursing.

What part of the us do you live in Theo?

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/08 21:03:32

Post by: Theophony

@vik, I slip to, but really am a lot better than when I was in my twenties, plus now with kids around I really police myself.
@nafarious, that's the thing though, the closest flgs which has gaming every night and plenty of tables doesn't censor the players, or even ask them to lower it down a few notches. I've even seen/heard the employees cussing in front of customers I'm in St. Louis, Missouri nafarious. It's a great place to live, we were living just outside of saint Louis for 8 years, but moved back into town just over a year ago, and its been great. I don't have to drive an hour to a flgs, and Walmart isn't h only game n town besides the bars .

So I got the yellows on except on the bumpers, I'm thinking of changing those out to black, or maybe even red. I had it all leadbelcher, but that looked stupid. Will work on the lack areas next.

And now to kill off he followers of this thread.....per request......a close up . Guess I'll be back to scratch building after all the boos, hisses, and laughter fade

On an n related note I just realized starting season 5 of breaking bad that my last two favorite series the main character was named Walter , who have atypical sons, and the world is trying to get them. Last night I watched the season four finale where Gus gets blown up . When he walked out of the room I was like WTF, then I threw up a little in my mouth when they showed his face, straightened his tie, an fell down. When I first saw him It took me a second to realize he's the guy on he show rEvelution. I'm waiting o watch season 2 of that next. Hopefully he doesn't get typecast as the evil S.O.B. in everything he does. But he does it so well.

Very nice Theo, but yea that does suck that they have no filter. Breaking bad is fantastic as well You have quite the force. I have decided Blood angels aren't for me though. I just bought a drop pod and tac squad for 50$ on ebay, and now I am looking at starting up on my Star Phantoms again. Now that FW has given them a special captain and their own tactics, it doesn't sound like a half bad idea, seeing as how i can use that drop pod and assault marines and devastator squads

the only crime i see comitted on that last pic... and believe me i zoomed in like a good puppy...is the murder of a mold line on that safty railing

the highlights are very good looking... the eagle needs a wash... and the frnot antenna (?) is still unpainted (read wrong painted?)...

and cussing in front of customers...? i think sometimes the wrong peeps are employed and the wrong kind of peeps are sitting their behinds soft at home...... really... that is rule nr1 in business... never yell never cuss at/infront of hands willing to give you money...

i only ever watched one (partly) episode of breaking bad... not my kind of show... really... i still have a hard time with the amount of unfair violence and loss in walking dead... but there the suspense is really keeping me looking... too many nice characters have already biting the dust...+§%&§

@vik, i just watched carol go her own way on walking dead. I think we'll see her again, probably with the "governor". Breaking bad took me a few episodes, just too many people were saying how good it was, so I stuck with it. In season two/three things really start getting good with Gus, Saul, and Mike I just love seeing the ineptitude happening

@nafarious, I know he star phantoms changed their iconography in the forge world books, but if you want the shoulder pads from the old ravenwing sprue that has the winged skull, just let me know. I've got enough to hook you up to give the army that much more style.

So rummaged through my bits box this morning looking for some shoulder pads for nafarious. I knew I had a few of theses pads sitting around because I collected over 1000 of the ravenwing sword and wing pads for my old custom chapter, yes I am nuts and YES I was building the full chapter plus all the vehicles and servants , glad that insanity is over . Well I found them, I didn't have 100 of them like I thought , I have 303 new off sprue sometimes my own insanity scares me. But then it tells me to shut up or he'll have to fix me

Group shot, 50 per bag.....I feel like a drug dealer.

Also in the shot are some Easter eggs......might get some painting done before I leave.

Edit: Easter eggs revealed....

You might remember these robots I had built from way back. Well they have now joined the scythes of the emperor. They also have gotten the black completed on the legs since this pic, but I'm n my way out the door. Depending on how long the orientation goes, miniature market is just a few miles from that location, so might swing in .

Couldn't sleep last night, new job jitters, this won't be good, hopefully I'm not sitting for the six hours of orientation watching videos, because I've got to get up and move around or I'll fall asleep.

Back from orientation. Seems all the last minute about construction and rescheduling was because the group was so small, not good lying to new employees right before sending them to orientation and talking about conduct . Met 3 others going to the same hospital as I am and in the same department. We're all excited to be there, great company and its not or profit, so not like those other greedy hospitals.

Wife and kids will be home hotly, they were at a nieces bday party while I was oriented. While there I got an idea for my linear terrain piece for skalks blog. But I can't tell you about it, cause that's the first rule...."no one talks about skalks terrain competition entries" , and no WIP shots either so just stew in it .

Tempest chicken almost complete, just need to do the various chin mounted weapons. Chicken legs done in black with yellow talons now.

You may not remember, but the tempest chicken was to be a delivery system for the battle bots

And in a GW universe the tempest chicken is right in line with transporting the iron man battle bot. After all if the flying bricks of the marines can function, and a rhino can fit 10 marines, then the tempest chicken can carry iron man into battle and still be a fast attack beast

@graven, "what else floats in water?" This is how I learned logic
@vik, well we could call it. Drop ship
@dave, flying marines exist. They just leave no witnesses.

Iron man needs no dropship, but I just wanted to see if it would fit. It's one of hose things like when people make bigger and bigger guns, just to see if I would work. I call it pushing the envelope afterlife would we have broken the sound barrier if we didn't keep pushing?

Off to church, kids are off school tomorrow, and I have my first day of physical work tomorrow night

@cam, thanks, never seen yellow and black candy before though.

Nothing new o show, getting ready for work. Turns out my kids DID have school today , my wife put it on our wall schedule as them being off. Needless to say they were about two hours late for school today , oh well, at least they got to play a little this morning. We're expecting snow tonight , my first night at work an there would be a snowfall. I didn't even learn the code at work for blizzard, but we did learn the one for tornado .

Bad idea just hit me, with skalks competition I'll need to keep my eyes open for scavenging goodies. I guess medical waste would be inappropriate material for a gaming table right???

@Theophony - Can i ask where you got or what you made the missile launcher from on the back of the forth land speeder in your last photo (nearest the right), I dont recognise the part/s and they look interesting?

regarding the medicinal waste thing....ive already done something like this. Ive used spent vaccine bottles liberated from my Wife's veterinary practice in several of my terrain pieces to date, they are a decent scale for 28mm, and not too overly gross/dangerous!

@scrunty, those are very cool, and reminds me of something to use in my terrain piece the missile pod are from a DUST tactics walker I picked three of them up from miniature market.com on their clearance deal of the day a few months back.
@dave, still just rain here.

Back from first night of work. Four hours of videos on the computer , luckily another new hire and I had to share the computer and answers .

They had lots of call ins tonight (snow scare ), so the guy who was supposed to watch us kept getting called out every five minutes . We learned very little. They want to certify me to clean the MRI machine , so when I want to get fired all I have to do is forget that pocket full of change I have, walk into the room, and watch the coins rip my pants off as they fly across the room. Contrary to popular beliefs I have no steel plates or screws in my head even though I've busted my head open three times.......explains a lot don't it .

It could be an old hell in the cell reference, or whatever the big boss man's matches were. if you zoom in I built scale handcuffs that are hanging on the fence on the lower left. I was inspired by the walking dead with the fence line, just needs some wire to close off the gap. That and the zombie hanging out to warn people away. like the camper that hung himself in the woods

Post by: Viktor von Domm

Funny you should mention the walking dead...I am watching the show just now...Laurie had that car crash... And the first impression I had while looking at that fence was indeed...walking dead...very brutal with that hanging corpse and the cuffs look very good too...what are they made off? Wire? I like that setting very much...and now I need to change my plans...originally I had thought about making a wooden board fence...but I now am thinking about something more gaslight related...bricks and mebby a lanterne...

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/12 21:38:47

Post by: Theophony

The handcuffs are bits out of the bag of watch parts I bought a few months back. not sure of their technical name, but they looked like cuffs, and I used three links of jewelers chain in between them. I really am enjoying the walking dead series. I am totally caught up now , and I think I only have one more episode of breaking bad to watch. I've given "Arrow" a go, and so far it has entertained me. My T.V. show watching will be slowing down as I'm back to work and they are giving me 40 hours a week. jobs taking away my excessive hobby time .

On a much better note I had to deal with some school stuff which got me to call the IRS for paperwork, which after 40 minutes got the release of the rest of our tax returns from last year. Seems like the person who was supposed to handle our case was let go this summer and all the cases were sitting in his files with no one working on them . The guy who answered the phone for me did a great job, put me on hold 4-5 times, but was apologetic every time he did it, but he resolved the issue and we will see the money in 3-4 weeks well that's $2300.00+ I didn't have yesterday , Christmas is back on.

Wooooo....that's some spectacular news! But 40 hours workload each week...I hope your family can cope with that. I know when my current school time is over and I can work as a nursery nurse its only part time for me and my missus...I think an equation explains it quite good...time equals money...and you either have plenty of the former or the latter...both would be fantasy material...

Well walking dead is an amazing show...seldom have I seen so much action and so much sadness on one go...I think iI know which part of zhe innards of A clock you used...good idea!

The schedule sucks, I'm working all evenings, but it works for the family right now. I'm still looking for something else, as the benefits they described aren't nearly as good as what was shown in the orientation class.
I would talk more about the walking dead, but your a couple seasons back, and I don't want to spoil anything this good. I think a trip to the hobby store is overdue and I'll pick up some more material and continue this fence theme for my board.

Good Job Skalk, you've gone and derailed me again . Honestly I didn't know what to paint next with the Scythes anyway, so Skalk just becomes a conveinient scapegoat.

How can they offer you benefits in your orientation and then not give them, surly that must be some kind of misrepresentation.

@LDD, During my interview they talked about medical, dental, 401b, paid time off, vacation and tuition reimbursement. We have access to all of those, but not until AFTER 1000 hours of working, and being permanent part time. At part time that's a year away, not right away which is how they explained it .

"arrow" is the t.v. Show name based on the Green Arrow character from D.C. Comics. I was never a big d.c. Comic fan as I was more about mutants (x-men), so it's nice to see the character more developed than what I saw from the justice league unlimited cartoon.

My wave two stuff was just more arms for the leviathan. I got one of each claw, a HEL cannon, A laser cannon, and (2) Beowulf/Grendel arms. I only assembled one of the last gun as the barrel changes out on it easy enough. I had someone piggieback their order onto mine to save on the gun costs, and have shipped him his goodies. I'd like a Mortis, but I'm really fine without one. The dreamforge stuff is amazing, but I'm just done with the delays. WGF has really just upset me with the Tim its taken them to get these out there. They are a year behind right now and no word on wave three, and when he said wave two was a month out it turned into an additional six . The gun arms were up posed to come with both right and left armors, but only came with rights, so now they are in a cost ineffective area to ship armor prunes to everyone . There's been no talk of the rules at all either. Don get me wrong, the models are amazing, I'm just frustrated that the project seems to be so poorly organized.

@shaso, the funny hing about the ethics was they lied to everyone scheduled or Saturdays orientation telling us the building where it was going to be held was being fumigated and we were not allowed in because of toxic gases. Turns out he just had o few people for the Saturday orientation they wanted cancel and move them to the Monday orientation to save money. But it was all about ethics .

@vik, horsey , can't wait to see it. Work will be fine, my wife is more excited about I than me, but we'll see.

@Dr. H, thanks, now I need a compound.

Thanks Dave, but I spoiled it already for me... On two, three days they aired the first two seasons...I am still not really through these yet, but watched the very last one live of the third season as I was too eager...so I know in essence who all bites the dust sooner than later... Beside, since I have my smartphone I research stuff while watching to ease a bit of the thrill for me when a scene gets too intense...I must say that this series is really getting to me on an emotional level like no other one before...

At Theo...be wary of that company...or for that matter the lot of them...if they had been nice peeps from the start they wouldn't have gone corporate in the first place

I had a feeling it might have concerned the Green Arrow might have a peek at it then, so it was more of a case of misleading rather than an all out lie more this is what you will get "cough" but slightly longer than we are making out.

So are the missing left arm armour pieces on both scale weapon load outs ? I thought it was just the 15 mm versions

Yes, it is dragging on a bit now but that is down to WGF rather than Mark, I personally think they have over stretched there capabilities and took on to many projects myself.

I have no idea when wave 3 will hit but I have a pile of crap to build so no real worries there, plus I have my 3 Mortis to build ( which was the main reason for pledging ) I just want to convert the hell out of 1 of them.

@ Dave where was the spoiler issue mate Rick handcuffed Merle in the first series

@LDD, I think it was the picture of i see dead people . I don't blame mark, except for not being more accurate with his info. Multiple times he has stated that something would happen in a week, or a month only to be months off from it. WGF has taken on a LOT, including moving their factory and warehouse. They also have shipping issues as both waves I have gotten the wrong order, and wave one they miss shipped me the wrong thing twice before getting it right. I think they are trying to do too much. They shouldn't be a distributor, they should be a producer like Walt, and leave distribution to Gus
@Vik, its a faith based not for profit company that was started by German sisters (nuns not relatives). So of course I'm wary
@Dave, don't you wish you owned a mouthwash or deodorant company in the walking dead universe? You really could clean up

I'm just waiting to see someone who has lived as long as the other group come by with a car load of gold and jewelry that he's taken off the dead, so out of touch that he's going to set himself up as king after everything is done and the plague is over.

I think my necromunda terrain will be taking on a more the walking dead look now. I can have the gangers be in a lower part of the hive fighting off the plague zombies and mutants (crazed survivors).

Spent the last hour watching final breaking bad episode and gluing my fingers together , good thing that's a delayed face palm otherwise my hand would be stuck to my face . Well the result of it would be more terrain. Now I hane to place another bits order to get the resin overcast pieces I'm using for the bases

Back from my first night at work, actually doing stuff. I'm glad I left the pedometer at home, because I don't want to know how many steps I took. I am always amazed when companies that one would think would be more ethical, lie, and make excuses rather than own up to the truth and be honest and sincere.

Faith based organizations who practice such always come out looking the worst and most hypocritical when it comes to light that they have been unethical and dishonest in any shape or form, and I have seen all denominations do this. The main reason they go Not for profit is tax write offs and immunity.

Anyway, back to the wonderful paint work of these Scythes of the Emperor!

@Shaso, Learned a lot from the meeting , mainly just do your job, CYA, and the management team is hired in to run the facility, and are not promoted from within.
@Dave, I'll give it another go in a little while, but theres a few others in the cue and now my down time is more limited.....stupid work.
@Nafarious, It was fine. It will be mind numbing work. and the machines are built for short people not someone 6'5". Sweep, Scrub, Buff repeat ad infinitum. Now I realize the imperium was looking out for the mental health of the servitors by lobotomizing them for their own sanity.

Well out of everything last night the thing I got the most enjoyment from was the elevator. The nice womans voice saying "Going Down" reminds me of My DakkaDakka Blog . Working the second shift has it's advantages, most of the hospital is quiet after 7pm when the cafeteria closes and most procedures are done. Everyone is friendly, forced rule of 5/10. At 10' you must smile and acknowledge whoever is around you. At 5' you must say something to great them.

Lots of walking, my legs are hurting from not moving around as much over the last 8 months, now I'll be walking loads every night. Taking the wife's pedometer tonight. I am curious how far I make it. If you figure I walked every hallway on two separate floors 8 times each last night it is many many miles. Most of the hallways got extra paths when you figure 2 trips each for dust mopping, 4or 5 each for scrubbing and buffing. not to mention the trips to replace E.R. Curtains and to grab supplies and such.

I hope the weightless comes with the job, but the guy I work with is about my size and he's been there four years.at some point your body plateaus and get used to the physicall exertion, and weight loss stops.

When we went to New York a few weeks ago and walked over 10 miles a day was less exertion than here at the hospital. I wasn't pushing machinery or carrying stuff either, but I have a feeling that I was doing more distance at the hospital than on vacation. Last night was a wasted effort. There was a construction crew there removing the MRI machine on the first floor, which cut out half of my territory because you couldn't get into that area, or the area on the level below it. The machine weighs so much they area fearful every time they move it that it might come crashing thought the subfloor , plus it still has a magnetic field that it affects, so everyone had to clear out. The machine has been having problems since it was put in less than a year ago, so the manufacture was replacing it at their cost.

Speaking of broken stuff

My electric razor died the other day. The battery has been getting worse over the years, but with it plugged in for over a day and no charge, it decided to sacrifice itself to my terrain competition

Oh and I picked up a couple more of the Dsteingass miracle shelves.

I really need to organize my area now.

I can see lots of useful bits coming out of that shaver and the outside would make some nice Tau (and maybe Eldar) shaped things.

Yeah, MRI machines have some tasty magnets inside them (that can even be expressed in whole numbers of Teslas).

I'm not keeping the plastic shell as parts of it broke while I was gently taking it apart . But yes, there are some nice bits inside.

Also pointed out to my coworker the stickers on the ceiling last night. On every other drop ceiling cross arm there was a sticker saying "security permission needed to access:high magnetic field present" or something to that extent.

Every KHORNE player should have a shaver on their table to give their opponents a little off the top when playing.

I think I have a new plan for my terrain entry, but it'll have to wait, just got home and I'm beat.

Recovery day . Church this morning after working last night. I actually took the pedometer to work last to see how much walking was happening. They put me on trash duty, so I was walking a lot less with frequent stops, and lots of lifting of full bags of soiled linens and half trash bags of waste stuff. I logged over 13 miles in my 8 hours of working, and came home not even half as tired as when I'm scrubbing, buffing, and use mopping. I laughed at my mother in law, who works at the same hospital (she's an ICU nurse), when she said she walked 20+ miles a night. If I calculated the other job as even twice the walking then I walk a marathon each night . The pedometer also showed I burned approximately 1300 calories during my shift from walking. I will be headed back to church shortly for bible study, but just wanted to take a quick picture. My brother in law was over and while I was rummaging for some empty bases for him I found.....
Spoiler:
the legion of undead superheroes)

Green arrows bow broke, and I can't find aqua mans right arm which had the trident, I'll keep digging.

I have building orientation tomorrow morning for a couple hours, then I have work tomorrow night. Tuesday our new mattress gets delivered. It's one of those memory foam mattresses , we couldn't afford the adjustable base right now, but I almost fell asleep at the store yesterday when I tested I out

The league of undead...wasn't there even a comic once based on these? I know there was at least undead avengers once...

And boy I pity you Theo...so much walking...can't be that healthy for a grown man...

As for that memory foam mattresses...we have one for our bed...but I. Still not fully convinced that this was a good decision..
We both wake spent and twisted up on too many days to say such mattresses grant a good nights sleep...can't put my finger down on exactly what is the cause...mattress is now around three years old but in good overall function...

Been looking at the tuts on wiring, seems I ma on the right track, just need hot glue gun, but I had to get a bigger screwdriver as that itty bitty one that came with the Leviathan was more for eyeglasses repairs.

@dr. H,thanks, I was going to make more, but I'm not a huge D.C. Comics fan, so I was stuck.
@shaso, the screwdriver is so small I can't even find mine now and I had some eyeglass repair to do a couple weeks ago.
@vik, I feel like the walking dead by the end of the shift. I know my tolerances will grow to take care of it. I think it was the Avengers comic that inspired the undead league, I just went D.C. As the marvel characters have too much silly ness with their costumes. My wife went nuts with the mattress, I am concerned on it as well, but they felt great in the store.
@galorn, I thought about making another version of a zombie trapped in a phone booth
@cam, thanks. I o lots of silliness that winds up being leagues of things. The league of extraordinary servo skull Janitors(I'm now a card carrying member, so be be turned into a servo skull), the league of undead superheroes, the league of extraordinary riveters, and the league of we don't talk about the league .

I got o get the kids up and out to school this morning, then get to my building orientation (I'll be an hour late, but they said to come anyway), then I have a few hours off until I go into work tonight. With orientation this week I'll either get overtime , or they'll have to let me off early this week, not sure which I'd prefer.

Thinking about swinging out to miniature market today to pick up a mini leviathan (jumbo shrimp , gotta love oxymorons) or maybe some mantic stuff as my brother in law wants to play kings of war.

how tall is that mini leviathan? i was recently looking for that and it costs a heavy 40$ too... and i doubt it is half as tall standing as the big brother...

yu are a tall guy so hopefully you picked your mattress right... it is no easy feat to have a good nights sleep of your a certain hight... peeps often forget about taller peeps issues... we get way often backhurts or ruined knees... strained necks is something i have recently way too often...also...cushion check should be your next job then

Remember all the fun I had with my orientation........me neither, they rescheduled I days building orientation to tomorrow morning. Half of us didn't get the new date sent to us who do I work for?

@vik, here's a pick that Valhallan42nd posted on the dreamforge news and rumors pag at the beginning of the month showing the mini leviathan, the regular leviathan and some other stuff for scale. Glad I'm not the big leviathan, someone seems to be gunning or him

WGF has the mini listed at 4.5" tall, o oughly half sized. Not sure of the dreadknight a height.

Talking to my brother in law yesterday made me reconsider building a grey knights army. Use the min leviathans as dreadknights, use draigo and terminators, ain't them all hot pink and have the "Gay Knights", always looking for a immoral incursions and dealing ith rear actions
political correctness , and I am he one ho complained about the people cussing and acting childlike a the game store

Well to call your gray knights that way would be tantamount to a bitchslap
Better refrain from doing that
It seems you are working at a highly efficient planning institution

Thanks for that reference pic...my only issue with the tall and small leviathan is the tummy section...that looks awkward to me...the head section tho has grey knight written all over straight from the beginning...

Here's my beginnings to the junk competition that Skalk is running.

It is a broken oil/promethium derrick. The pipe is made from the unused end of a wooden skewer we used to make s'mores the other night, the two liter bottle cap is the main pipe down, the little grey thing on the front is a step up to look down the shaft. The black piece is a bracket to hold the two pipes used to release built up pressure from down below, and one to pump down a heavier replacement fluid into the chasm. Both those parts came from my worn out electric razor that I replaced last week, as well as the motor itself which is hanging above as the drilling motor. The tower is a part of one of my sones old hot wheels cars race tracks that got broken when we moved, I knew that part would come in handy at some time. It all barely fits on a 60mm round base which won't be used, but is in the picture for reference. I will cut a piece of plastic card the same size, but with it being flat it will be closer to the ground and the step will look more in line with what I had invisioned.

Super zombie for scale purposes only as the well broke ages ago and he wasn't around to save the poor workers , much less all the bodies dumped down the open shaft.

Edit: Wooooot!!! 100 pages, I didn't think I'd last three

Lets see some other work in progress boys.

@Dr. H, painting.....and a hammer
@vik, good thing I have some bananas around about to sucker them
@cam, I've been locked up before in a third world country no less. Nicaragua

Don't try to smuggle rocks out of the country , just plain rocks, not anything rare or valuable.
@vik again, yeah, I'm not sure if this hits the mark or not, but I plan on adding road debris also

Well, tomorrows orientation is off, I have to be at there for the start of it they say, and that's not possible since my littlest one just came home sick from school and won't be ale to go back in the morning due to having a high fever. The Flu is going around church, hopefully it's not that , so I will be cuddling my daughter all day tomorrow

There's two "why"s to that last post of yours...
1. Why is Nicaragua so keen on keeping their rocks?
and
2. Why were you trying to "smuggle" rocks out of Nicaragua?

@shaso, yes, but if I go down that road there will be pink paint involved
@Dr.H, 1. Hey x-ray'd my bag and saw a really large dark void, and I was headed back to the U.S.
2. Everyone else was getting souviners, but like my marine army I don't do anything small. On rock was the size of a softball, I had that in my carry on with the small rocks. The big one was larger than my size 13 boot, it didn't fit my carrying bag

That's really not a prison door, but the security door at the church we were building in Managua, Nicaragua. It just looked like a prison door so I got the photo. I did get x-ray'd at the airport, my bags searched, and me walked from one end to the other with guards holding AK47s. I thought "this is awesome, I'm about to get martyred out on the Tarmac." Until they took me on the Tarmac, then it wasn't so awesome. Walked to the baggage area where they had me open my bags at gunpoint. Mind you I took 5 years of German, 2 years of French and I went to a country that speaks spanish . When they found the rock, and the bottle of chili sauce that was a gift, and 20 bags of premium coffee they knew they were dealing with a true criminal mastermind . They took me back to the loading area, still with the two security guards who didn't speak English and their guns. Sat me down next to the ticket taker and stood by me until I was on the plane. I tried to get up once . My pastors and the 30 other people in my group were not allowed over by me, or even to talk to me . I was the first person loaded on the plane.

To this day I'm not sure if I'm welcome back to Nicaragua, or I I'm red flagged anywhere. But I have my rocks, and friends got their coffee straight from the plantation at less than a dollar a bag .

Moral of th story is if you want to be first one loaded on a passenger flight out of a Foreign country, just fill your bags with big rocks nd bags of coffee .

Funny last night at church they were talking about sending some people to Ecuador on a mission trip. First thing I though about was my rock collection.

On to modeling.....this on is vik inspired

The Good Day Blimp. Figured I needed to start something large for 100 pages.

How curious. Reminds me of when I came back from Poland and when they x-rayed my bag the very-military looking bloke there said in a strong polish accent (unsurprisingly) "show me something electrical". For a couple of seconds I forgot that I had put my camera in that bag...

@nafarious, yes, better pics will come.
@monkeytroll, thanks, but the Derrick is sidelined as it is not junky enough
@dsteingass, yes the mini crusader is the shrunk down version, but the arms are still hot swappable, and the possibility is the same too
@Dr. H, that seems to be where the polish jokes come from if he expects that there is a bomb and he asks to see something electronic......like the remote detonator
@vik, the gondola is indeed an apc from the dollar store. It will get plastic card treatment. It will be more modern and the rear engines probably will not be there, just tacked on currently.

I took the blimp out and gave it a quick white spray primer. It's too cold here so not sure how it will turn out, but I had made it so airtight that the bottle began to collapse in on itself because of the temperature change, now that's neat science in action .

18 miles artwork yesterday, man am I beat. I would have slept like a log today but my daughter is home sick so we have been cuddling. She got a full nights sleep so she is wired. Also the new memory foam bed arrived and I set it up. Tried to get my daughter to take a nap on mommies side of the bed while I took a nap I slept last night daddy , can we watch more sparkle faerie princesses? Yes Dear

I have been picking up loose bits off the floor last night at work , and I need a new idea for my junk terrain as the Derrick doesn't seem to fit the profile of the competition.

did skalk say the derrick doesn´t fit or is it your assumption based on my own doubts? if the latter... don´t... as it is a cool model! if the former...dang....

i will soon reveal what i did for the junk comp... my entry is a makeshift wall...maybe that can serve as a new inspiration

your daughter seems pretty much on the mend... it is always a sign of progress if the kids are not interested in sleeping anymore... if my sons get to snuggle on the couch or heavens preserve in their own beds... there is something seriously wrong with them...

for the blimp... to save you from possible harm... have you thought about using expandable foam inside the bottles? to strengthen the build on that part?... probably not needed as the finished model won´t be able to take any real punishment... i like the idea that you take an apc for a gondola...this will look brutal!^^
