Theo, you been busy. I just caught up. I must say your hobby ADD has come to my attention, along with your job. You will be in walking shape in no time.

Wow you've been busy, congrats on the 100 pages

Great work on the junk piece by the way, haven't even started mine yet.

@cam, 4" paintbrush, its the way to go
@comrade, who said getting off your medication was bad
@hk1x1, thanks, I know yours will be awesome

In the mean time I started assembling the legs of mini leviathan, got partway done with the legs last night when inspiration hit. I've always wanted to do this other marine faction, but was afraid of yellow, so I never tried it. But now yellow's my , so I can cut out all the and start to . And if the previous sentences didn't give you a clue as to what I'm talking about then you need to pull your head out of your you

Wow that was cathartic
Angry Marines power boots

Little kicker inspired by the walking dead

Boy wonder my , your just Bruce Wayne's prepubescent .

And a helmet, cause no Angry Marine is dumb enough to walk around without head protection. That's just asking for some lame imperial guardsman to blow your head off before you get a chance to

Peace out

I sense the rage of a thousand suns floating in the post above. I know he is trying to communicate with me, I just know it, but none of it is getting through.

The legs of justice present themselves. Well done. Perhaps it should still be a mini lev.

Yes! Yes! The angry marine has been put to rest and the cork reinstalled, so no more censoring needed.

I present the mini leviathan with scrubs for size comparisons.

Well...I wouldn't be putting that angry marine idea too far away...but that first conversion idea made me puke a little in my mouth...
Better make it an open hand that holds a leman Russ turret in it ready to belt some heretics

@shaso, thanks

Mini still needs his at our, but this time he will not get it until all the underparts are painted. Also built the scythe according to instructions as my scratch building it into a proper handheld device was not working.

@ldd,thanks, the little bugger has just about as many parts as the larger model, if not more. Plus all the details on the bigger one are on the small guy too.
@vik, I didn't get much past putting parts next to it and saying bah!!!! So no real failed attempts. But I was dressed for work and my old bottle of superglue exploded when I took the cap off. Now I have this odd crusty stain on my work pants. Good thing I don't glue naked, that would be hard to explain at the hospital/ which is also my work.

@dr. H, I think it would be too large for a sentinel. The model is 4.5" tall so on par with the dread knight, and most of it was in the legs. Though it could make for an awesome mechanicus walker tank.

While building the body I thought about tacking a terminator on the front of it just to see how it would look... still better than the dread knight, but so much prettier by itself. Thought about buying grey knight termi's the other day and more mini knights, but I remembered how I dislike the look of everything on the grey knights except the helmets. I think I'm better off waiting for the dreamforge heavy troopers before making the grey knights.

Well I was hoping for some sleep Today. Got the kids on the bus climbed back to bed then my phone rang. The bus driver was dropping my son back off at home. He blew nurgley chunks on the bus. Wife came home early so I could get in to work early. Hopefully tonight sleep will happen, cause my next day off isn't until weds.

At least you don't have the most Amateur tree service ever in your neighbor's yard. It's not just the chainsaw sounds, but the Foreman or whatever insists on YELLING everything he says to the guy in the bucket and the guys on the ground carrying the logs to the noisy grinding machine. I'm seriously anticipating a log to come crashing through my kitchen ceiling

They were at my place two weeks ago. We always had people stopping to tell us how beautiful our weeping willow was in the front yard, but the power company pays idiots to trim any tree close to the lines and they hacked the out of the tree.

@ruglud, I've been lurking in the AVP kickstarter, but I'm going to pass on it. The models will be available soon enough, and I'd rather see them all first. I wish it was hitting retail at Christmas like they originally said.
@shaso, I love my life, but I am soooooo tired.

Just played my first game of kings of war using GW figs, fun quick game .

Post by: Theophony

My brother in law and I play bloodbowl somewhat frequently, and he and I both had undead fantasy armies collecting dust. I told him about mantic and he went out and bought another undead horde. I used beast men and chaos using Orc rules because there's no official mantic chaos rules. It was only 1000pts, but about the size of the old warhammer armies I remember fielding 15+ years ago. Took two hours, but neither of us had played before and we were discussing through all the possibilities of if this or that happened how would it play. That level of game usually runs 40 minutes or so, so could become a very fun adventure for us.

Sounds awesome. I had my first dip into blood bowl this weekend, I think I got to play about 2 turns but still it was fun.

I downloaded the warpath rules, short rules, seems fairly quick, and the tanks actually have sensible rules, like anti-infantry weapons shoot at infantry, same witht he squads! why shoot a anti-tank weapon at people in flimsy personal protection when there is an enemy tank bearing down at the same time as a squad of troopers? shoot the rifles at the troopers, and the missile at the tank!

Likewise, my tank does not have to shoot MG's at a tank where they bounce off harmlessly, but instead at squadies as it fires the main cannon at the enemy tank!

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/24 09:31:01

Post by: Camkierhi

When I actually used to play 40k, that's what the rules where. Individual fire. I Remember the fun one day in a GW store, having a battle and an ork rolling lots of 6's to sniper a tank at a thousand yards with a lascannon. Oh those where the days. My looted Leman Russ burst across the field and blew up on the first go before I actually had a go. Now I can't get on with the game, played a couple silly battles with my kids and Maaagh! Not very exciting, just lots of disappointment. "Sorry your troops are only allowed to use half there weapons at a time." What's the point of spending the points on giving your troops some diversity.

With my limited understanding, GW are giving up Finecast, and metal is dwindling, so they will have to go plastic for everything, I just hope they keep the variety of troops going, they seem to me to have dwindled that down and down. You are either Cadian or Catachian, that's it. Just stupid marketing. I would happily spend money on a Tallarn force right now, and a Praetorian force, and some cool new Ogryn squads. But as Dave said all they seem to bother about at all is a million and one varieties of the SM's who are all supposed to be equipped relatively the same. Blaaaaaaah!!!

Anyways sorry you unleashed the whinger in me, sorry, putting it back in it's cage now.

@shaso, I haven't looked at war paths rules, but hear they are just as fun as the kings of war. Sort of excited to se deadzonecome out as its their version of necromunda.
@ cam, no problem, I read most of them too, so I know what you were talking about and understand from doing the same.

Going to try and spend some time on the airship tonight unless inspiration hits me for something else.
Edit:

Front of the blimp

Rear of the blimp

Vent on top of blimp

Profile of the blimp. White plasticard on the gondola will get rivet strips and be made to look like windows. The front o the gondola will get closed in as well. The tank n the back most likely will be an exposed fuel canister, but I'm thinking of making the pivoting bottom turret into a giant flamethrower . No sure if I will add additional gun batteries, or just winglets with bomb/missile pods. The circular feature on the front I'm undecided on making it a viewport, putting ll sorts o antenna on there, or armoring it up.

@comradepanda, no , but I have been told I am bat crazy

Decided to use the existing turret to mount my cannons. Added the front plates to the gondola, and a rear plate as well. Tried a couple ideas for the turrets, but like I said I decided on using the main one again.

Blimp-tastic.
Could do with more point-i-ness at the front and, of course, the addition of fins and fans (or propulsion solution of some kind).

Turret works well.

and don't forget all the other small details before you get on to the riveting.

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/25 21:42:35

Post by: Theophony

Thanks dr. H, I think the front will probably stay a flat nose. Unless I find that an old Lego piece fits it now that I think about it. I had envisioned it being a glass domed viewing area there before I added the gondola. Now I think it might just get an imperial eagle on the front.

I think I need to check the size of a FW thunder hawk and really annoy people with using this as a stand in . Yes my blimp is transatmospheric and can deliver 30 space marines to their destination THAT fast. It's a valued piece of technology that predates the imperium and existed during the bleak days of old night.

@Ruglud, I might be channeling VIk, but he'd need to hop a flight to the US to brainwash me. Besides my German isn't good enough to be an international man of Mystery....or is it?
@comradepanda, of course ruglud makes more sense (horse sense), I was at work and getting off of my break when I saw your post.
@Cam, Yes, I have blimp envy of Viks, That is why I started my own. It's like thecold war all over again. one side of DakkaDakka makes a blimp, and I must retaliate with a bigger blimp
@LDD, Glass houses and all I complete just as many projects as Vik does.
@Shaso, curses foiled again by the USPS. Just when I start thinking of stealing Viks identity. Besides Vik has more mad riveting skills than I do. Besides I could never have the love/hate relationship with the royal family that he has.

I am so wiped out from work it's not funny. Shouldn't my energy level be coming back up? I work tonight again then off for the next two with the holiday. no rest for the weary here as the kids are off tomorrow through the weekend. Might be getting another Kings of War Game or 4 in this week .

I'm also looking for what to buy myself for Christmas with the gaming black Friday deals out there. An extra 5% off of Dreamforge? Gamesworkshop? or Mantic? cant decide.

currently theo is not online.... so no possible way to verify that I am not theo in disguise.... ...

at theo...I think the droppod bit looks amazing at this place, but how do you want to get the bit and the bottles flush together? that will be something worthwhile to be seen... I think that bit I will order in my next bitzhunt too as I see lotsa uses for that...

as for your energy issues... I think you choose a pretty lame time of the year to start working again... the loss of sunlight might be the cause of such energy drain... try to get out more and grin at the sun... it looks stupid as hell, but you can "leech" sunenergy" with you perly white teeth quite good... soo I've heard... my wife is very low on energy in wintertime to... this is nowadays a common problem in our society... if your working indoors all that artificial light is really pulling you down ...I will cross my fingers for you that you can cope with your workload hopefully sooner than you thought! you´re needed here in good spirits for the betterment of all of us

@dave, thanks, if its the intake at the top your talking about those are from the storm raven wings nd plastic card.
@nafarious, I don't need another GW item, but there are some nice bundles at miniature market, but no extra discount
@galorn, I just can't stand the look of the mantic dwarves, one elves or I'd buy some of their stuff. I'm using the Orc rules for my old chaos and beast men figures.
@vik, yeah I'm indoors all the time, and by the Time I get up to the levels with windows to look out, the sun has set. No worries about me though, even hen I've tried to cut out my time here I usually wind up spending more time here .
@hk1x1, thanks, I wanted a separate turret from the gondola, but it didn't look right with the space I had. Guess I could have fixed it by drinking another 2liter soda
@ruglud, I see us as more Pluto and goofy. Not sure which one of us is the dog though
@vik, and were on both a the same time, although I could have flown to my home in Germany an be on my cellphone at the same time, so there's one more myth for the myth busters to try and debunk.

Today will be a day of rest. So say I. At least that's what I told the kids. Back from breakfast out and now I'm chilling watching a show called "doomsday bunkers" I knew there were nuts out there, but a guy who will pay $500,000 for 1100 sq. ft bunker. Pretty neat other stuff like automatic gun turrets .

Another dude has 10,000 rounds of ammo in his house , wonder I his insurance agent is aware? just think what would happen if there was a house fire , can we say one hell of a cook off?

Well the quandary has been answered. Miniaturemarket started their blackfriday bonaza today.

156 miniatures and 6 GW paints(including the blood for the blood god, ryza rust, and nihilak oxide technicals plus three various greens for my Orc horde and a half.) 31 of the models are cavalry. In GW land that's over a thousand dollars, but in mantic land with Black Friday prices that's $200.00 mostly because the GW paints didn't get any discount

@vik, whatever I do to you I do to myself as well, so ha

The GW paint got 20% off as usual, but they are still butt expensive for the price.

I assembled 10 of the boar riding orcs and a couple troops, but we have church tonight (no school cause of the holiday), and going to our brother in laws church tomorrow morning. Then to my parents for lunch, followed by a return trip home for n evening with the in laws and game(s) of kings of war. It will be a late night of glueing to be done.

The special character that came with he big box is all metal , and doesn't fit well. That's why I started all plastic marines.

One of the things I like about KOW is that you don't have to model the ignores appropriately, just so long as the bases are the right size. There's lots of fantasy players making heir bases with only half he models on it that it should have, but doing custom scenery along with it. So things like the zombies and skeletons moving out of the ground with tombstones. I think my cavalry will just have the front rank, but be trail clouds o smoke. That aLos means that I will have more units with he models I have . They also don't care who makes the models, as long as they are on the right sized base and you can tell what hey represent.

@vik, do they have Black Friday in Germany? If so just consider thanksgiving the pig out buffet on carbs so you can shop till you drop the next day.
@shaso, so was ours
@ruglud, everything was great, even better in the morning. What I look forward to each year is the stuffing that my aunt makes. Now my sister has taken over making it. I usually only get a little turkey, then load up on the stuffing as it has turkey bits in it.

Did some assembly on the Orc king of war army.

23 ax wielding orc warriors plus the bodies of another 50+

30 gore riders
1 lord on a gore in metal
32 great ax orcs
16 morax (Orc with two ax )
Would be further along, but each peg on the head doesn't fit the holes provided , so I must cut the pegs off of them and glue them on.

I didn't glue the gores (pigs) to their bases as it will be easier to paint them later without the base attached.

So how does Kings of War play vs. Warhammer? I've heard it is much more streamlined, but is it also fun or does it feel like an overly simple game?

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/11/30 07:18:39

Post by: Theophony

Sorry bbb I was headed out the door earlier when I saw your post. First, welcome. KoW is very similar to Warhammer fantasy, just with a lot less rules to worry about. There are only a few armies righ5 now and they each have very similar troops, but each has its own you inquest abilities as well. The rules are very cut and dry with no army having any rules that break the game, or at least none that I see. I play orcs who every unit has "crushing strength 1" unless otherwise stated. This gives them a +1 to penetrate enemy armor. Undead if they do damage in their hand to hand combat removes a point of damage that they have taken. Dwarves are more likely to stay in the fight than others. The rules are totally free to download from manticgames.com. You don't need to sign up or anything. You buy units by their sizes, so. Can buy a unit of ax orcs as a regiment, horde, etc. each one has a different profile for attacks and their nerve, basically the more in the unit the more attacks and higher their nerve, less chance to be broken. If I charge you then I roll my number of attacks on a d6, and consult my attack skill. Any roles that are higher tHan my attack skills "hit", then I roll those hits and compare the results against your armor. An rolls hat bea your armor are wounds. The part where this differed is in KoW you don't remove casualties . Instead you just write down the number of wounds taken. After my attacks have been calculated and wounds determined you roll 2d6 and add in the wounds done and compare it verses the nerve of the attacked unit. H nerve score has two numbers, which always seems to be a number followed by a second number 2points higher than it. If my combined score of 2d6+wounds is lower than he first number tHan your unit holds, and on your urn you get to strike back. If it is higher than the first but lower than the second, then your unit is shaken, an does nothing on your turn. Finally I he number is higher than the second number your unit is destroyed. Really simple. If I charge your flank, then I double my attacks, triple I I hit the rear of your unit.

Check out the rules, they are quick to pick up, after all they are made by order GW rules writers, and are fairly similar to the older editions o warhammer before it became hero hammer, Death Star, or math hammer.

Right before I left or work I completed assembly of all 156 minis. Games Saturday, possibly at the flgs, otherwise in my basement.

Gotta test those rules out after all! I have the Warpath rules, and they were also simpler, and sensible ones to follow.

Still waiting on my puppets war APC's and for the Hanomags from Dreamforge to go retail, more purchases from MM if so. Or from Marks own site store.

I'd buy from mark, but the retail stores are discounting even more than he is .

I am so doomed at tax time next year, not sure I mentioned here, I think I put it in shasos thread. Miniature market is about a half hour drive from me. In march/April next year they are moving about a mile from my house to a much larger location. When I had moved here a year ago they had just moved away and another flgs moved into their old building. The current flgs does no discounts, and I haven't been able to make any inroads there, just not very outgoing. Plus they let he players using the tables cuss like monkeys. Now that I have my brother in law into tabletop gaming, I see my cash flow disappearing at an alarming rate. Good thing my KoW army got built for $200.00 and really doesn't need anything else to play a 2000 point game.

@bbb, really reminded me of old warhammer. Before all the other armies came out and their special rules killed everything. When a complete rules section with pics can be 32 pages, you know it's going to be a quick game.
@shaso, it's going to be tough, unless they hire me

Brother in law was a no show , story looks like he had a warhammer game set up at the flgs, but then didn't answer his phone all day. Last minute plan changes have really ticked me off lately. They canceled after thanksgiving dinner get together, today, and a half dozen other times recently. Most are lame excuses, but I think something else is going on as well so....

Church, then setting up the Christmas tree, and work tomorrow so no major updates.

Edit: Christmas tree reprieve, the girls went out with friends from church, and my wife and son are on a date, so I got a half hour before I leave for work.

Junk terrain.
Not sure if I will use this or the Derrick that I made. Most of what's on here is trash from my new job as a janitor at a hospital. I couldn't get pics in the process of picking his stuff up as we are not allowed to have our phones on us. First time is. Final warning next time you get the exit door. Or at least that's what I'm told.

The clear bottle to the side is the packaging from some microbeads I've used as rivets before. It will make I onto the base at a later date long with some other items, just for painting sake it is separate right now. Most o the plastic parts came off of IV tubes and are syringe covers, or one items that were loose on the floor. All the award outs stuff went into biohazard bags and sharps containers , I'm not workin in a dangerous place. Their is also pieces from a mantic sprue on there as I just ought a king o war Orc horde this week and have assembled 156 orcs and 31 riding pigs (boars/ gores). The hanging flag/tarp is a thumb from a latex disposable glove. I have plenty of other gubbins to toss on, but they must be done in layers....like an ogre . Off to work shortly.

@monkeytroll, thanks, I hope the tarp idea goes over the way I have it planned out. I have other uses in mind for it as well.
@vik, there's more story behind it for sure , just I don't want to go all Jerry springer here. As for the tarp I am hoping paint is all it will need.
@shaso, definitely, also one of he guys there I me at church a few weeks ago, hoping that might help. But here's no way they could come close to my pay and benefits at the hospital.
@dr. H, well they say one mans junk is another mans treasure , I was half thinking about making "crazy Ivan's tent of trinkets and bobbles." He finds neat junk and polishes I up for you, at a reasonable price after all. NO REFUNDS/ OR EXCHANGES
@cam, thanks, and the horde will be fun to get to work on. I started with fantasy many moons ago. I actually learned to read when I was four I was reading at a third grade level, all from playing dungeons and dragons with my older brother and his friends.

Well hey changed my schedule so. Have to work tomorrow so right now I'm doing laundry at 1:09a.m. So I have my uniform ready. While that's going I decided to work on the blimp. Extra kings of war bases became porthole windows and walls for the gondola.

The green area I think will get some armor plating, and if the latex glove thing works out maybe some sand bags or rolled tarps.

Well o to get some beauty sleep.....or a slice of leftover pumpkin pie

"Mr. Kirby....we have a problem"

Spent the last hour and a half putting some legs together, they are that detailed, I was also distracted by a Muay Thai martial arts movie which had samurai and ninjas in it as well , I think the only thing they missed was making the samurai a Caucasian dude like th old 1980s b movies. Anyway here's the progress.

Here's a profile view how in the extension available even after assembly, ankle armor not attached for future painting.

And just because you never see the bottom of a model doesn't mean it should be left without detail work right?

Vik, the leg is articulated like action figure toys. They bend at the ankle, knee, foot(both front and back), and pivot again at the ankle, hip, thigh and the pistons actually look like they function as the rod goes into the piston. Finished o this point I can twist and bend the legs to get the right pose I want for the model.

@skalk, I not have a foot fetish.....at least not a metal foot fetish...well not yet.....
@dr. H, no only do the feet work, but the claw arms work too, I can change the hand pose from clawed swipe to flipping the bird. The waist pivots and the cylinders on the chest function as well.
@vik, battlefield Berlin carries them, not sure of the cost, but I just ordered another last night for $90.40 including shipping from WGF as a cybermonday special. Compare that to the fogre world Titan, and you save $350+. Plus the arms hot swap, which means you turn hem 90 degrees and hey pop of and you put a new one on in seconds. @Nerdfest, I'm headed to the store shortly, on my list of things to get will be a santa hat for the leviathan to wear in the final pic that I intend to send to GW Corporate.

I have challenged Mark, the creater of the titans in the N&R page to get everyone to send family pics to GW for Christmas with their titans , escalation indeed GW, Bring it.

Edit:forgot o get a Santa hat , but as I'm trying to eat healthier I though I would buy some V8. It's two full servings of vegetables in each can, something I need to eat more of, so why not buy the big freaking case o them at SAMS club. On he way home I opened one to try....
Spoiler:
i would just liked to say I have never licked the sweaty testicles of a monkey, but I imagine they would taste very similar to a V8 drink. I hope the flavor grows on me, because I have 23 more to drink I have a new way of eating healthy, every time I want to eat something bad for me I can....I just have to drink one of these first without throwing up.

Assault Trooper test print

Here are some shots of an Assault Trooper, warts and all. I did not spend much time cleaning up the print because it was not going to be used as a master, just to test fit components such as the shoulders, tasset and tabard.

The Heavy troopers are scaled to be a good match with the Stormtroopers. About 1mm taller than the Stormtroopers (some shrink can be seen in the print), and a bit more bulk overall. Keep in mind when comparing to other mini lines, the Stormtroopers will be on the tall side, so although these may look a little small, they are large enough to look like steal the milk money from many of the other popular mini companies lines and small enough to look like Eisenkern Stormtrooper sized person could actually fit into the suit.

WGF China informed me that they are making progress with the Heavy Troopers so it seemed appropriate to post this. Enjoy!

Still..even though we are hardy northerners, during the first snow/ice, Darwin always sorts a few out before everyone slows down and gets their heads on straight.

@Dr. H, silly Brit, BBQ happens all year round, and in all weather like mailmen.
@briancj, yes Texans cuddle up to their cows on cold days, sometimes while they can still moo , other times after it's been cooked.
@Dave, this will be juju beans first winter won't it? Also the hospital was crazy busy last night, lots of accidents, bad falls, and flu going around.
@nafarious, I guess since your in college you don't have one of those big Texan pickups to ride the range yet . On a totally unrelated note, please tell me your working towards a doctorate in some field, having just watched despicable me 2 I need to have a connection to Dr. Nafario (us)
@shaso, I'm sure you'll get your snow soon enough, until the your army will just have to continue playing in the mud.

Snow day for wife and kids, it was so nice all of us getting to sleep in, never happens around here. I just didn't enjoy the 4am phone calls from their districts telling us there was no school. Lazy morning of hot chocolate and reading. Just gave the kids the okay to start watching TV. I'm going to get ready for work then maybe get some modeling in before I leave.

Probably why the British aren't known for their BBQs. We wait for the 1 (maybe 2) day(s) of sun in the year before thinking about BBQs.

We also have issues when it snows. Considering that it happens nearly every year, you'd have thought that we might be ready for snow and ice... nope, panic and chaos every time...

@dr. H, excuses excuses, at least now you have a toilet manufacturing facility for all of those excuses , bad weather makes BBQ taste that much better , I am not a big griller, but I love BBQ almost as much as I love bad chinese food.
@nafarious, well that's all right, you may not become a Dr., but I'm not calling you master either way.

Time to look at the junk pile rules again, I'm not enjoying what I built and its becoming more of a task than a fun event for me.

Theo: That's a tough one. It is meant to be fun. Try looking at the previous pieces of terrain you've made and make a junk pile to match them. Don't think of it as a competition piece, think of it as an addition to your sump or the janitor-skulls (maybe like a hazard piece for sumpball...).

Sorry guys, really tired, got home from work and wanted to work on my competition entry for skalks junk pile. I've been having troubles making something for this, as most of you know, I have a problem with eclectic stuff, most of my necromunda build stuff is clean and my territories in the underhive are parts that have been cut off for centuries, but now accessible because of a recent hive quake that reopened pathways. I have a very orky mentality, but I just don't do ramshackle very well. Here's my WIP photo, thought I lost it, which would have sucked, because I came home and finished it .

The base is a 40mm mantic base leftover from my Orc horde purchase. The white things are the tips of fingers from non-latex gloves from work. I really liked someone else's trash bags they made for one of their builds, so I thought I'd give it a go. The arm(grey piece) is a spare Orc arm from mantic. The "bags" are full of pieces of paper towels I used to wipe my brushes on and bits of my desk from cleaning the Orc horde. There other parts to be added on here, but the basis for this is a good old fashioned body dump gang style . If you ever saw rumble in the Bronx with Jackie chan and what they do to the gangers you have the idea , although one arm didn't fit into the tree chipper.

Everyone should fear the 18th street Dames

More scythes , but I need to redo the highlights, went too crazy with them, but I think that's because my brushes are pretty well shot and I need to get som new ones.

My free times getting eaten up by finals this week and papers, like vik, mayb we are the same reason after all .

Oh and looksie what just landed on my front porch, actually heard the driver sigh with relief when setting the package down

Another 28mm crusader with the limited version of the Excalibur sword , I have an extra one now.....unless I get another crusader .

Centurion: Jealous newbie marines wanted a Marine version of a crisis suit that gave S/T and 2 weapons in one fire turn and an extra W, so that is my take on the Marine Turducken

There's hardly any snow here, not even on the mountains. MA, CT, and NJ have nowhere to ski now.

I'd invite you to ski here, but there's a serious case of flat happening, try us in a few thousand years after some earthquakes and we might have enough ski areas to go on . Seriously though, most of our hills that could be skied on are covered with trees, with only wide enough paths down them for the power line trucks or cell tower service vehicles to get up to them. Most of our stuff has been ice with a dusting of snow on top, and Friday were getting more. Hurray for typical Missouri weather

Needed to buy paint brushes, and was by the flgs yesterday, so what did I get....paints . Must remember to write myself a note

I've been lacking variations of the metals so I thought I would pick some of those up. Dreamforge trooper still trying to figure out his color pattern. I tried white thinking Star Wars storm trooper, but shading whites a so now he's going to get a third paint job of different metal colors, because my grey knights might be brass, chrome, or bronze

Edit: what about Minotaur colors?

Yeah hobby sections of a lot of other stores can also be good sources of less expensive brushes. I never buy GW brushes anymore, they are overpriced and not great quality for the cost, they overrate all their GW brand stuff

Going Down: Beyond the Gates of Antares  @ 2013/12/12 19:34:56

Post by: Theophony

@nafarious, thanks, I usually pick my brushes up from the local hobby store, much cheaper and my skills don't require great brushes.
@shaso, the only GW stuff I want to buy any more is the paint, sounds stupid and expensive, but its really more because I'm used to the quality, I like the few model colors I have, but I dislike the dropper bottles.

Painted another storm trooper, keep threatening that I'm going to build grey knights. Tell me what you think. Yes I di just notice a mold line on the leg, much more pronounced after the zoom from the iPad.

Should I paint areas different colors, like.
1. The boots
2. The gloves
3. Elbow pads
4. Knee pads
5. Get out h stripping agent o give him another coat of something else?

The snowpokalypse is upon us , 4-5 inches here and still coming down. Of course this is my weekend off, but the streets look like its clean enough to go holiday shopping, or to buy a new dishwasher cause ours blew up Thursday night . Last night at work I was covering the trash guys shift, always fun stuff cleaning up the bio hazardous waste . But cleaning out the pharmacy trash I found some useful stuff , no not drugs , foam. I had no problems bringing it home as the pharmacy trash never has gunk in it. Plus the sheets are thick enough to protect minis and just larger than my box for my mantic Orc box . The parts I trim off will be perfect for sponge painting too.

Well off to do snow angels with the kids.

@shaso, I'm not that bad off, but it does take longer than even five years ago.
@graven, there's so much waste being tossed I shake my head. The company talks about how much debt there is and then everyday I see boxes of new stuff brown away because it would mean employees take an extra couple steps to do something .
@nafarious, I check in on my hone a few times a day usually. I try and update frequently, but right now there's so much ls going on including a daughter who took six+ hours yesterday to get a half hour assignment done so the whole family suffered.

Nothing yesterday due to daughter drama and dishwasher replacement. The guy who remodeled the house before we bought it had plumbed the connection for the dishwasher without a shutoff, or covered it with cabinets , so even after shutting the water off to the rest of the house there was a mess. Hopefully today. Can get some hobby time in, but since I'm off tonight again it will probably be more family time, I'll get to do stuff after they go o sleep though. The snow here was great, about 5", and it was a good packing snow too. Each of the kids made snowmen before we found my daughters teachers note about her late project. Driving last night to the store there was a snowman on each lawn for about a block and a half . My other brother in law and hi kids made a 6' tall snowman in their yard, posted it on Facebook, I looks great.

Edit: getting that itch for something terrainish....maybe build some zone mortalis boards???? I think someone mentioned the squares were 3"x3"

But the trooper looks good, and the goggles close to what I plan to do, blue lenses for the helmets, I may use a darker blue base for the goggles, maybe green lenses now.

@nafarious, I might check out their sites for some inspiration, getting some urge to do terrain again.
@shaso, the goggles just happened that color cause the new GW oxide paint was in front of me. It's very glowy

Not much to report, really just bored right now. About to leave for work, but I did toss a little bit of paint on the mini leviathan. He's getting grey knight colors, but I think he's going to get hazard stripes. I'm thinking of fielding an alternate universe iron warriors army using grey knight rules. They don't have storm bolters, just modified bolters to throw more ammo down range. The psychic powers will just be "siege" devices that could go wrong. Of course mini leviathans will be dreadknights, and the big ones are the siege engines .

I just finished angel exterminatus this morning after not having read black library books for almost a year. Glad this had iron warriors and perturbo, also got more insight into those purple pansies the emperors children. I'm going to try and pick up betrayer today, hopefully there's enough smurf killing in it for me to enjoy.

Hey guys, thanks for the visit. I've been lurking for a while, just not very motivated. Just to back from the clinic, my oldest has influenza a, we honk the boy may have it too, but can't get into the doctor until tomorrow with the twins. So much for hem singing at the Christmas cantata tonight

@vik, like the dead pool idea even though I wasn't a huge fan of his. I know one one previewed some ski masked heads, but couldn't find hem when I went looking just now. Maybe just a traitor Marine army of soldiers that have broken their oaths to the emperor and have decided to just loot the imperium of wealth and live high on the hog.
@ruglud, the weather changed this week and we hit 70 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday nowall our beautiful snow is gone . Then it cooled off 30-40 degrees last night and we had flurries again .

well...being sick in this certain age is never a picknick...regardless of the season... we parents always get worried and frightened when our beloved we are used to see running and yelling around get all quiet... a sad moment then indeed...
for that matter... we went to a local Christmas fair...not that much fun there we had... in the end my kids played a bit on an old "dry" fountain...well...it ended with my son felix (age 7) who slipped the last hop...and got himself a nasty cut on his chin...it actually needed glueing with superglue (medical stuff) in the hospital...something truly new for all of us... but he actually took it like an honourable champ... after the initial well deserved crying he then let him get treated by the doc or the other helpers without so much as a flinch... very brave... so long story short... I hope your kids will get better soon...especially since being in these days not able to go to church must be something really cruel for your family...
by the way... I think we all will go to church on Christmas too...there will be a play and music and suchlike... we four of us need to find us a bit of a family Christmas tradition...

as for the socks heads...I think they were from mad robots?

@nafarious, I'm just glad they will be on the mend. Last night at work I got to witness a stillborn baby being taken into the morgue , never a good thing, but especially at this time of year. Had me all screwed up last night and all morning.
@vik, thanks, couldn't find the masks on the website, but found it in the kickstarter thread. Might have to source some of those. The local church that did the all German service has stopped the tradition, I guess the priest changed churches or something .

In the mean time I thought I might try and clean off my desk to see if I get some motivation. I need more of Dave's Walmart paint shelves, that tote on the side I full of other paints.

Oh and the heads I was thinking about.

I'm thinking the first one, although the last would make a fine beachhead .....yo joe , 40k g.i. Joes (guard issued) except in marine armor.

@graven, thanks, the desk was left behind a our old house in the basement. It is SOLID oak, and weighs so much that I think it's why it was left there. Also I think it was downstairs before they finished basement, because there was no extra space to bring it up, I even took the handrail off the stairs to get it out.

Well I was snoring soooooo bad last night and he wife has been sleeping lousy with her cold so I hit the couch. With two sick kids in their rooms it wasn't very restful either. At 4am my hird child woke up with the same hard cough, fever and headache , good thing she and her twin brother have doctor appointments this morning.

On a silly note the busted dishwasher was in our backyard by the fence waiting for the trash collector today, but someone jumped our fence and took it , I don't know to be sorry for the person now, are when he gives it to his wife for Christmas and it doesn't work .

Sent a message to mad robot bout the heads, still not on the website, so I have a little reprieve.

Without initially realising it was Deadpool, that marking on his knee took on a whole different meaning for a moment when I first saw it...

Hope the little ones improve enough to enjoy Christmas.

While I was in Birmingham, it was a common occurrence for people to leave things like fridges, etc. out on the street and wait for someone to make it disappear for you, when it would otherwise cost money to have it taken away. But usually the other people would wait for you to at least put it out on the street...

@Dr. H, you mean up right , I'm just glad to be doing something, I've been stuck in the dull drums lately.
@vic, I wouldn't recommend swimming in the underhive, real water is hard to find, sump water has friends to make Jaws look like goldfish.
@cam, thanks, were on the mend, but I'm starting to feel the onset. 40k milligrams of victim an C here I come

The kids got to open 2 presents each last night, of course they picked the biggest and littlest packages . That meant pogo sticks for the twins and watches for all three of them. My oldest opened a medium sized box after complaining she didn't have a pogo stick sized box , and got a Spirograph set which she loves and played with for three hours not even stopping or dinner .

The all have new bikes in the garage which the twins found earlier this week, but the oldest doesn't know about. And my son will be catching you to my Lego collection more today, he still has 4-5 big sets to open. Should be fun to watch all the rest as well.

Only bummer so far I the blue ray disc player I got for the family room doesn't work Walmart cheap stuff on blackfriday.

They had bottle rocket jump packs or diffused (tried to anyway) the m80 bombs that cobra had in our neighbors 4'x8' 2'deep sandbox .

It reminds me how much I want to build a sand table for gaming on.

I totally understand you there...and I try to act in that way too... try to avoid the rubbish stuff tho...but it accumulates nevertheless... once in a year we go to MC D and then we get their toys too... which is always rubbish...but sometimes can reincarnate to good stuff (hobby )...

sounds as if your kids got a huge Christmas haul...compared to our stuff...my kids make a jig dance even for a chocolate santa...

They are pretty spoiled, but they have all their grandparents and a set of great grandparents who lavish them with gifts.

I also mention to family members not to buy the knock off Lego or junk toys, they'd rather get smaller sets or fewer toys that are longer lasting. Then our family buys the good things, sees that there are fewer boxes, and go spend MORE to fill the space under the tree , yes I'm evil.

Is there a list of future releases out there somewhere? I'm thinking of using the 15mm leviathan as a forgefiend, and was wondering when you'll be able to buy separate mini guns and if the mortis is coming out in 15mm as well.

Post by: Theophony

@shaso, the tower might well become a platform for workers to use to repair my leviathan after battle, its almost big enough.
@ldd, I haven't heard anything solid, but I also have a lot of flgs around me and most don't carry them, and haven't heard of them. Also most of the big online sellers like miniature market and warstore don't seem to be selling them very quickly.
@bbb, I watch everyone

Well Damo inspired me to do some scratch building the other day, I just didn't get the pics up. Probably a one off, but I must do some more work especially on the wall.

Also I picked up some paints at the store before work today. I keep teasing that I might do this army, I just don't want to get too offensive, so I need everyone here to help me not push the boundaries too far. Mark at dreamforge might scream at the travesty of it as well. But the grey knights are about to become......."The Gay Knights" led by chapter master Kaldor Dragqueen and the mini leviathan (dreadknights). They are here to turn the empire on its .......well you get the point . Hot pink here we go!

Okay so maybe not......hot pinks not my color

Well, you have a point, but then there are slaaneshi marines after all. As for being full eunuchs, I think in the grey knights book there is a part in the story where a female officer sees a nude grey knight and says to herself "what a waste" not sure if she was considering the bits that were left, or just imagining what it would be like attached o the rest o a sculpted Greek god like the marine looked like.

As for price I have a full first company f terminators sitting next to me in my old chapter colors, that's why there's a test subject, he was on top . I also have a little bit of cash to toss at an army and I I did the gay knights h right way it might be 16 terminators and a couple dread knights, so maybe 250-300 through a discounter.

But seeing the pink in real life.....not sure. I might just go with the silver of th grey knights, but use pink as the heraldry color instead of red. Also talking it over with on of my buddies from work, doesn't play, but has had a blast discussing it. I think I'll hav hem be a division of the grey knights ho have been ostracized, an have left Titan and are based on...........you guessed it uranus . Four year old humor

Okay, so negative feedback a plenty on the gay knights , there goes my idea for brave sir robin . Well I'm wiped out. Work has been brutal, and with everyone sick my mental capacity was strained to say the least. The wife is just getting her voice back, I'm almost lad to hear the nagging , and the kids temperaments are getting better by the day as hey are all better and we got to go out of the house for a while.

Brother in law was over last night so we built a 1500 point king of war army. Honestly even though I go to get a game In I was so tired at that point I just wanted to get some sleep. I didn't put much effort into the list at all, and fielded a massive Orc cavalry army, with a giant and a wizard. Next time no wizard as he was useless, then again I rolled more ones in that gam than I rolled playing d&d for twenty years . In one fight I rolled 32d6s and got 20+ 1s . I forgot about my generals inspiring presence, as well as the inspiring given by my standard so I lost at least two units I shouldn't have.

Next time I will field some blocks of Orc ax, and great ax as my gore units just to tar pitted against hordes of skeletons with spears.

Glad I got another game in, and h left his rule book here so I can read over the extra magic weapons, fortification rules, campaign rules and stuff. I just have the free rules and the 32page rulebook that came in the box sets.

Will try and catch up with all the posts soon, but must take h wife's van in for repairs again on Tuesday , getting to the point we may have to get something new , not what I was wanting to do.

Well thought I'd get some pigs on a stick. No not a corn dog, but manticgames.com gores which my orcs will ride into Da fight. The only thin I don't like about hem is the quality of the casts, huge mould lines as you can see. Glad it's a beer and pretzel game, and I'm not concerned with winning awards.

I knew keeping all those old GW whippy sticks would pay off.

Here's how the first turned out, I think I'll stop by lowes on my way to work and pick up a can of brown spray paint though and give that a go.

Also saw the new league competition, must retread the finer points, but the piggies might just be getting a dude ranch . In game terms I guess we could call it a tar pit, have some nice wallows for troops to get caught in and die. Of course there might b some feed troughs, picket fences, and a sign for fast food. you catch it we'll cook it! No I'm not officially in, just had the idea while typing.

Happy new year everyone.

Spent last night with my family and about a dozen other families from church ringing in the new year at one of their homes. All the kids were playing Xbox either in the garage with the screen projected onto a movie screen, or in the basement on the big screen. We adults acted like children and played party games like headbandz and taboo, both were hilarious. It's always fun to see "church people gone bad" hen their Irtysh minds come out .

I think I might have an idea for cams competition. This will have to remain underwraps, as it is a huge scale project , but something I've always wanted to do. Also have a second idea for a project, which is much smaller.

Everyone I finally getting better and were doing Christmas at my parents house today before I go to work.

Thanks guys, a few minutes till I clock in, but the funniest party of the headbandz game was one of the women got the bedroom card, and everything she asked question wise was misconstrued by everyone. Like "is it a place where business is conducted" and "is it a place often frequented" or "is it well known by the general public....or at least the members of our church" . Everyone was three shades of red by the end of her turn.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys , everyone is up and mobile again....just in time for the blizzard to hit today . We are expecting 6-12" of snow between his evening and tomorrow mid day. I have to work tonight and they want us to bring a change of uniform to the hospital just in case and they'll set us up with a spare room to sleep in if the weather is bad.

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but I'm really tempted to get into the x-wing miniature game. People have been showing off the models ( you majortom and your excellent repainting), and the space mats to play on. I'm tempted to buy a set because the prices are good, and then build a Death Star table complete with a trench run.i just need to get at least another person interested in it. Thinking this might be the game to get my kids interested in gaming with dad.

Before he snow starts we are off to get the kids new glasses.

Hopefully will have something to show beginning of next week, unfortunately the duldrums have not left yet.

i actually play x wing its pretty fun simple to pick up and you can get some neat named characters for pilots. and each plane comes with like four or five pilots to choose from in the starter set you get luke skywalker and biggs for the named x wing pilots in the blister you get the other named one...i wanna say deg...but i might be wrong if you pick up the TIE advanced you get vader, boba fett for the fire spray (slave one) and the mellinium falcon has hans and lando for pilots.

Well decided not to stay at work, maybe if we were allowed to sleep in empty patient beds, but they cleared the inference room and threw own some cots. Ladies in this room, men in this room. Set up for about 50each. I snore and get up a few times a night usually, so group sleeping snt going to work for me. Even on mission trips in Nicaragua we managed better sleeping arrangements than this. Going to Joplin MO right after th tornados hit a few years ago there were about 150 of us sleeping in a church sanctuary for a few nights, but hat was set up by FEMA, and had decent shower and bathroom facilities.

My kids just woke up and ran outside as soon as they got their snow suits on. We have 5" of snow right now , and its still coming down hard. The road crews haven't even tried to clear the street next to our house, and its a secondary road, they must be trying to keep the highways clear. I only have to get 9 miles to work, but will leave a few hours early to get here on time. They discharged most patients last night that were in acceptable shape, but I'm sure there were plenty of call offs.

No worries for food around our house , we stock up on bread and keep it in a deep freezer, along with plenty of butter. The wife and kids were going to be making home made chocolate hip cookies for Christmas, but with being sick that didn't happen. About the only thing were low on is milk, but we have plenty of juice and water so just no cereal for a while. If it gets really bad we can always eat the kids, although they are a bit gamey .

Haha stay safe bro! It's really dumping here now. We usually buy half-gallons of milk for the two of us, since it goes to waste otherwise. Yesterday, there weren't any half gallons left. 2quarts...crazy people buying way too much. I think the attitude of "I've got mine, screw the rest" will be our downfall

I tried going to work, still no plow has gotten near us, two hours and I got less than a mile and stuck three times even with four wheel drive. 12" iswhat my kids just measured in the yard, and visibility is less than a quarter mile. This is the light fluffy snow, and the winds are just scattering stuff everywhere. I'm sure my kids and wife will be off school tomorrow if not Tuesday as well, most other major school districts have already cancelled.

My kids just made ice cream with snow, vanilla, heavy cream and sugar tastes great . I might try to go in later, if a plow goes by.

Well -7 degrees with -30 windchill factor, my 4 wheel drive is in my fence, and have been outside for over n hour and a half trying to get to a friends house because she doesn't have a phone or a shovel . She was able to get on her neighbors wifi and send out a help me using her old laptop and Facebook. Her cat chewed her iPhone cord in half two days ago , guess she'll have Chinese food for lunch .

Forgot to post this yesterday/sat.

Mini crusader has a basecoat going. I decided to tone back the areas getting the yellow as it was overpowering. Armor plates are being painted on the sprue and attached later.

I think that was a rather good decision... would have been indeed too overpowering with too much yellow...

I watched a CNN weather newsreport... and at first I thought it was just that weird farenheit stuff which I still doesn´t get... but then I realized on the radio that the numbers I saw were in actual Celsius...around minus 50 degree Celsius...wtf??? is there some clever terrorist out there manipulating US weather by remote or what?...sheesh... stay indoors and stay healthy... nerdism never was so sure a way to stay unharmed...

When it gets into the double-digit negatives Vik..Farenheit and Celsius are pretty close to the same:
But they are talking about the windchill most likely (what it feels like on your skin in the wind)
Right now, the snot in your nose freezes in seconds
Temp here is -12°F (-24°C)
Windchill is -39°F (-39°C)
See how they are the same?

I had to camp outside when I was at the army ...we had -30° c...one of my mates burned the soles of his boots so that the soles came off at the fire... he was that close to the fire ... it is doable to stay outside...ask our Russian friends at dakka...... but I agree...if you´re not used to that cold it can be devasting... specially if you take cars and streets and bloody stupid drivers into account... then it gets really messy...

Didn't I say, get some skis...

Hope the fence isn't too knackered and your car is fine (other than being stuck).

Those sort of temperatures are silly. Stay in, stay warm.
If you think of them in terms of Kelvin they don't sound so bad (-30degC is 243K )

@vik, my day without shaving has my stubble just long enough to act like Velcro for my hat. I've was able to pull my stocking hat down really low and it held fast .
@dave, its a 6' high dog eared picket fence, and I was trying to back up then rock forward and couldn't get any traction. I tried some sticks, and salt on the ground.

Dave, take a cup of hot water and throw it out your front door, it'll turn into snow before it hits the ground it's that cold.

It took me about 8 different 15 minute sessions (most of the day) to get my driveway shoveled out, and a bare-minimum job at that! I'm not going out there for anything else! Bean won't even go out back! (she is peeing on a patch of snow on the back porch)

Spare patches of rug/carpet are also good for un-sticking cars.

Vik, the car repair was only $500.00 so no new car in the near future. The snow is so thick that it was pushing up between the tires and getting the engine, and lifting the wheels off the ground.

No kitty liter dave. No kitties either, they make me sneeze, even though I like cats more than dogs.

My toes are just starting to unfreeze now, and I've been inside for over an hour. I took the wife's van out since my truck is still stuck, and got steak and shake chili for the family. Stopped at the flgs at the same time and picked up a copy of x-wing . Time to start playing with little toys.

You should buy a bag..it's great scale gravel AND good for un-sticking your car..no cat required..buy the cheapest stuff they make.

oh it soaks up oil and other spills too!

Indeed Kitty litter is a must have item. Used it myself. Also If you have rubber car mats they are great under your tyres just to get you going. I have a large metal plate I have attached under my cars engine specifically to protect against the snow.

Best way of getting around is foot. I have walked 10 miles to work before, though I would say don't bother unless you really have to.

Get your self some tennis rachets!!

That! When working in a supermarket we used it to get spilled oil from foodoilbottles from the floor...no quicker and better way there to get rid of this...hot water and dishwashersoap just aren't good enough...

Not too worried about the oil spills, the driveway is a half job that was done by the guys who remodeled the house before we bought it. I'll have to replace most of it in a few years anyway. I'll pick up some kitty liter in the future for such an emergency, but I just remembered I have a chunk of unused carpet in the basement. I might try that in the morning. In the mean time I was up and couldn't fall back asleep so.......in a basement far far away

Oh and I'm not saying I'm in a competition related to habitats......

Glad everyone is watching, but I'm about to go back to sleep.

Started watching the movie "timeline", and punching out all the fiddly little card bits and making pew pew noises with the game pieces.

The models look great, and I hear a game takes like an hour to do, so that's always good. I've seen lots of great third party stuff, mainly the plastic maneuver pieces and parts to replace the card stock bits. I'm looking forward to building a fleet, which in game terms isn't much. I'll get the rest from miniaturemarket.com as they seem to be 30% off the game all the time. I actually got this set at full retail , when I could have gotten it and an extra plane or 2 from MM.

As for the sounds, I have a telephone post next to my driveway, and it has one of the heavy wire supports that anchor it to the ground. In the films hey got the sound effect for the lightsabers by dragging a wrench across one o these , an extra bonus for buying this house . I'll have. Pick the movies up again on blue ray, as I only have them on laserdisc , yes I have had 2laserdisc players, one still works, but its a pain to connect. I'm sure the new films have better features now too.

As for my spoilered picture.....

The mech repair facility for my leviathan crusader. The central part leads to the tunnel out of the facility, its a giant garage door, the two sides will be maintenance bays. Maybe some scaffolding in there, I'll have to check my materials that I have. like I said though, I'm not officially in , that way I don't feel rushed, or upset if I get sidetracked.....by a deathstar

Everyone wishing me to stay safe when it's cold our gives me a warm fuzzyfeeling , but where are you when I'm trying to cut tiny pieces of plastic card in my hands with an exacto knife, gluing brushes to my tongue, or using spray paint in enclosed areas . I appreciate all the concern guys .

As for their underwear dave, I think a few of them skip that part of the outfit on a daily basis , and these are the people who clean the hospital rooms . That's why I am a do not resuscitate person, and I want my plugs pulled even before I get to the hospital.

Edit: highlight of the night is that I was doing trash again as the guy that normally does it tore his bicep this weekend. While pulling all the trash and recycling I scored another 12 pieces of the black foam that I got a few weeks ago. The stuff is identical to what chessex used to use in their miniature cases years ago. Seems that they are the packing dividers for one of the tools used in the cardiac cathider labs. So I should run into it every week or so as they go through them often .

The stack is 8" tall 10"x15" and there's a total of 19 pieces.

The point I think of this job was to have an income for the time being and still work on your exams? So ...if it bothers you too much concentrate again on school rather to let working get you down......maybe you need some days of sickness at home to reload some batteries?....I say sickness for a given value of sick...sometimes being sick of work is enough to stay home and tell that you have a...*coughs* ...cold

I'm more sick of the morning crew doing nothing during their shift and leaving everything for me. In my 8hours I can usually on. Regular night get through all the floors three times and still do a couple special projects. I have been there two months as of today. There are guys there that in an 8 hour shift don't even finish one trip around the place. The other big thing that annoys me is the daytime manager is so separated from his work that he doesn't realize half his crew sit an play cards for an hour or two each Day up in one of the utility closets .hes never heard of "manage by walking around".

Well I left work today just in time for more flurries to start falling . Supposed to get 2-4" tonight, so far the schools haven't called off for tomorrow. I hope the wife and kids go back.....I love them, but I need to see less of them and get my quiet time back

Edit: due to 4" more snowfall my wife and kids are off school today too . Which weatherman do I have to sacrifice to the dark gods to stop this runaway greenhouse effect?

Edit 2: leviathan house

The parts by his feet are rollers that will attach one on each side of one of the I-beams and have hopefully a block and tackle attached to it. Hopefully the other side of the entrance will have a sliding crane/gantry section on it.

@vik, the model actually doesn't have an access port on it for the pilot. That way scale is not an issue. But I itchy make a little car with ladder on it like the airports , it's a cool idea you just gave me.
@cam, if you got some spare that would be excellent as I forgot I used the last of mine on the necromunda swingset

I'm going to make some oil drums, and ammo hoppers, although I have some GW ones that might just get added. Some of the league of extraordinary janitors might take up residence on the diorama also . There will be power cables and wires and pipes and what not. I'm thinking of a little control office to the side where damo's servo skull might just be slaking off (yes slaking, not a typo sickos).

Well, didn't have anything to input on my own thread while I was at work, but at least some of the stress was received while I was there. The one other floor guy who's been there 14+ years and is very argumentative, and just not fun to work with was fired on Wednesday after I left, so no more dealing with him and his 15-20 cigarette breaks a night(were a smoke free hospital campus too ). They also got rid of a lady during the day shift which always left the other housekeepers in a bind for the evenings. On a bad note one of my coworkers tore his bicep and will be out 2-3months at the minimum. It's bad because he was a great guy that I could talk church with as we are both believers, and he is a hard worker to boot.

On other work fronts......Score!!!

8 more sheets of foam, now that I know which area of the hospital these come from I know where to keep my eyes open for them.
Also the I.V. That the hospital uses comes pre packed with these bits of plastic that we don't use because of our poles and connectors/machines. My boss thinks I'm crazy, but lets me have anything I want out of the trash as long as its not from a contagious room, he obviously is not a fan of papa nurgle. Each of the IV packs comes with a nice piece of clear plastic tubing that is 6 1/2" before the curve and they are shaped like candy canes. I got 12 of them tonight in one shot, they look like 1/4" tube with 1/8" inside diameter. Also each IV has 2 pink bits and a clear white bite, but most of the time those fall out of the trays, but tonight I rescued 4 pink and two white. I already had 6 pink and 3 white from other pick ups. I also got some (4) cool looking silver (looks like needle covers), which look like good sci fi turrets to me .
Close ups.

The little pinkish bits I think will make nice wheels/track boggies.
