For those of you who know me you will know that i have been working on this for a long time, the game has come together over the course of several years and im trialing it now on Dakka for the first time
the game will have to played slightly differenntly because of the nature of online rpg games. This may cause a few problems but nothing that cannot be handled,
The game is a Medieval era Role Playing Game where you take on the role off a character who is following the Stone storyline,
The game will grow and evolve as it is played so dont be discouraged by a lack of background, it will appear over time.
Anyhoo:
Races playable in Stone.
Humans: The UHTC or the United Human Traders Confederation, fair and honest folk who love a good bargain but are not particularly greedy or arrogant.
Dwarfs: The Dwarfs live in their mountain fortresses constructing great engines of war for the prophesised conflict to come.
Elves: Fair and tall, natural mages, and all of them are undying.
High: The general peacemaker not inclined to battle but if the need arises they will bear spear and holy light against all enemies.
Wood: Rangers and guides, inclined to be incredibly serene to the point of baffling all others with a calm and steady hand, even in the pitch of battle.
Dark: The mages of destruction and stealth, those who would never see their adversaries face only their back or scorched legions of dieing warriors.
Orcs: Ancient warriors that adhere to tradition of close combat and shamanistic beliefs.
Goblins: Small green creatures often found in the darkest of forests or caves and usually in great numbers, a wily intelligence and cunning offset by good-natured humour.
Ataani: Tall feline warriors clad in magic absorbing obsidian plate, all Ataani use druidic magic of the land that envelops their race, and use a handful of weapons proficiently.
Magi: Demonic paladins sent to scourge the land of undead, little is known of these shadowy beings.
Dragorans: Short stocky men with the appearance of lizards, these warriors are dedicated to individual one on one combat at the peak of honour.
Satyrs: Men with the heads and legs of goats but considerably stronger, wielding scythe like weapons they make fantastic assassins and heavy melee fighters.
Twinings: Druids who have become so attached to the trees in the forests where they live, they have actually bonded with them, now they walk as men with bark for skin and moss for hair.

Act one: The Evening of Light
Tyranic slowly drew his mount around, the chargers sides heaving in the dawn, The skeleton warriors were getting bolder, the Neromancer must be near.
He and his knights charged down the hill and into the press of warriors, none survived. The knights ripped through them with ease.
They may be gitting bolder but they wernt strong enough to beat the knights of The Lady Phobos.
-------------------
Dekkanso followed the tracks. The undead army had landed here. Nothing would stop his warriors when they finally caught up with those wretches. The Dragoran looks through his helmet slits at the Dying ground. Nothing survived tehm, nothing ever did. But the warriors at his back would. They had to.

Ah, well there's your problem. The Rp community is as slow and proverbially blind as a badger with heatstroke. As such, it can take anything from a day, to a month to get responses. Additionally, you may have noted that
"Do you want to play a game?" thread is up, and it contains most of the regulars.
"Stalemate" is also up, and that, again, has most of the regulars.
And the Zombie rp, which has since died ( Despite Darks persistence) has recently been up.
I'm sure once these have died down, if you put this back up again, people would be far more inclined to join.

Indeed for the moment there is an overload of rp's. In wich the regulars are already participating.
Wow, that means we have a real small RPG community: i think we are around 12ish active players

Woohoo, I like fantasy. It looks like the game is starting up now, so... Name - Ranun of Crisela Age - 34 Class - Warrior Race - Satyr Weapons - A large 2-handed club with metal spikes on it, and he also has a dagger. Armour - Chain Appearance - 2 meters tall. Handsome, as satyrs go. Alignment - Lawful/Neutral Ranon was born in the Woods of Crisela. While he was a small child, his parents and clan were killed by raiding orks. He had managed to survive by running deep into the woods and hiding. He wandered the woods for days until he was confronted by a pack of hungry wolves. The wolves started to close in on him when a she-bear came between him and the wolves. What compelled her to do so, Ranun never knew. The she-bear fought off the wolves, and then took Ranun to her cave. The she-bear raised Ranun with her other cubs. When Ranun was of age, he left and went wherever the road took him.

Ok well we may as well start.
(tralyn) Your bow creaks under the strain as yu carefully target the stag infront of you, through the foliage you are completely invisible, before you can loose your arrow something spooks the stag, as it bounds away through the scrub you see the shadowy but loud shapes of movement in the trees.
(Kozac) You drop silently to the parapet, your feet making no noise on the hard stone, your cloth shoes absorbing all sound, infront of you you can see a pair of guards, their backs to you talking away their shift, in the distance your eyes spot the window of the nobleman, Keyal Randostal. The brotherhood wants the man assasinated quickly, before his political veiws spread to far.
(Ranun) As your feet pound heavily across the lightly wooded hills you feel in tune with nature, the birdsong is clear in the morning light and animals can be seen in many places, looking up you see the fortress of the knights Costellar, before you in the hills are a group of knights charging down some skeletons. The scene is harsh in contrast in your mind from the peacfulness around you, the clash of battle reaches your ears
37018
Post by: mezorgon1234
i circle around, keeping to the cover of low shubs and trees, trying to get a better veiw of the shapes making the noises, but keeping unseen and invisiable.
34885
Post by: Tyranic Marta
Through the shrubbery you can see the creatures making the noise, Dragorans, how they got their you have no idea but their scaley skin is unmistakable, their handswords are out and cuting through the sacred trees

i climb two meters up a nearby tree, quickly loose two arrows, one straight through the back of a dragorans head and the other into anothers back. i leap off the tree and take two more by supprise, cutting their throats with my two dagges before they could react. thrusting one of the bodys back into the remaining dragoran, knocking him flat then loosing another arrow into its scaley throat.
standing there, for a moment, panting from the adrenaline.
i search the bodys.

i sneak up to them. and try to do a double kill with my knives and do it silently

"Yes, some sport," thought Ranun as he ran to join the knights... anyways, the sooner the skeletons were destroyed, the sooner it was once again would be peaceful.
Ranun takes out his Kanabo (what I was going at... just couldn't remember the name), and charged at the skeletons yelling a loud battlecry.

(Tralyn) The bodies have little on them, all that you can find is the strange skinlike material that they make their clothes out of, and their handswords, either they wernt going to be here long or they are part of a larger group.
(Kozac) you move forward silently, your knifes darting up and out slitting their throats, they gurgle softly as they sink to the ground.
(Ranun) Seeing you the knights hail you as they make anouther pass "Wherefore are you headed Satyr? Your assistance would be appreciate in this fight."

"I am headed nowhere, but for now, knight, it would be my honor to fight with you. Let us not tarry." responded Ranun to the knight.

Though Ranun was fast and light on his feet, he couldn't keep up with the war-horses. He hit the line of skeleton warriors right after the knights had already shaken them with the charge. He swung his kanabo down hard on the first skeleton in his path. Btw, here's a Kanabo:

Post by: Tyranic Marta
(Silentsong) (nicely done) The guard doesnt notice as you quietly slip through the door, you are in a wide vaulted room with a low ornate ceiling, ceveral doors lead of from each wall, the room is quite well lit.
34885
Post by: Tyranic Marta
(Ranun) your kanabo happily smashes through the skeleton, sweeping blows from your weapon obliterate the skeletons around you, in the air you can hear a steady holy chant, kept up by the leader of the knights. It seems to fill you with fury and your blows release small flashes of light when they strike the skeletons.

Post by: mezorgon1234
"follow me." i take the small army of elven archers to just outside of the clearing. every elf had a look of hatred on their face because of the intruders. the elite archer signals silently to incircle the camp.
once the camp is incircled a loud battle cry is yelled and a volley of arrows is fired into the camp, each elf having its target, and each arrow meeting its mark. every elf having its bow once again tensed and watching and waiting for any sign of movement.
34885

(Tralyn) The dragorans fall quickly, the camp is quiet for a moment, then a strange screeching sound meets your ears, the statue in the center of camp moves, and you can see it is a dragoran, coated in leaf gold. The warriors sword flickers batting away the arrows fired at it, the warrior moves forward slowly, his aincient eyes glowing through his doublejaw.

Ranun continues to strike at his foes. Whatever the chant of the knights, it makes Ranun less cautious and he charges deeper into the horde of skeletons yelling, making wide sweeps with his kanabo

Post by: Tyranic Marta
(Ranun) After a time you realize that the skeltons have been destroyed and the chant dies away, you turn to the knights, they barely look phased by the battle. Their mounts are calm and even in thier heavy armour they arnt breathing any heavier than normal.
You yourself are quite fine having spent your entire life in martial pursiuts, your body is incredibly powerful able to withstand much more than the pathetic blows of the skeletons.
One of the knights turns to you, "You fight well, we would consider it an honour to have you eat with us and lodge at our fortress this night. There are other bands of undead around, we would appreciate your aid in defeating them. The knight takes of his helm to reveal a mane of pure white hair, "My name is Tyranic Marta, I am the captain of this company, and i invite you to stay with us and fght by our side for a time, unless you have other matters to attend to?

The knights lead you across the plains quickly realising that you can happily keep up with a slow canter, nearing the fortress you are awed by the sight, The gates are made of a pearlecent light that shimmers as you watch it, one of the knights dismounts and grips your upper arm, as the pair of you walk through the light it parts around you, the knight looks at you "If i hadnt gripped your arm the light of phobos would have registered you as unholy and would have smited you with holy fire, because i am touching you i have given you a temporary blessing, you are our guest here, you need but ask to leave if you so wish and one of us will aid you through the lighs of phobos."

(Ranun) Marta dismounts and heads towards one of the buildings, "walk with me satyr". This fortress is not placed here by chance, the two of you walk deep into the fortress, passing great doors and facades made of wrought gold and silver. He opens a door and you see stairs leading downwards.
At the base of the staris, some 400 down you come out into a huge chamber, Completely circluar with a large crystal set in the center of the room, it is about 9 feet high.
Marta stops and tells you to walk forwards, "No holy knight may enter the circle of Phobos without a blessing from the Grand master of the fortress, but you may approach, do not touch the cryst."
You walk forwards, noticing lances of runes, in massive spiraling patterns criscrossing the floor, when you get close to the cryst you look into it, set into the cryst is a massive skeleton, about 8 feet tall, its withered body still clutching a massive greatsword, made of pure obsidian.

"I have traveled and seen the greater part of the civilized world, and never have I seen or heard of such a device.
My mind is filled with many questions now. What is it, and what is its purpose, and how does this relate to the undead?"
34885
Post by: Tyranic Marta
The being you see in the center is one of the great undead ataani lords, known as the sons of Plague, the crystal is a highly rarefied form of mineral that you would know as diamond, however our order knows it as angels tears, as this stone was formed when a thousand angels wept over the body of their fallen champion, that was this warrior, he was ressurected by an ancient entity, known as Plague, but was trapped in the cryst formed by the angels tears, if someone were to touch the crystal it would shatter, and he would be released. And not even the order of Phobos could defeat such a foe. The undead scouring the lands around are attempting to free this evil."

2:1 death contraption (small ball that once thrown erupts into a spikey ball that is razor sharp, for the purposes of this game we say that it kills whatever it hits, within reason)
3: Wrist grapple

Name- Iliad Ulmethire
Age- No truly knows, but records indicate he is at least two thousand years old.
Class- Undeath Knight (prefers the term 'Bone Lord')
Race- High Elf
Weapons- Bone greatsword
Armor- Golden plate armor
Appearance/Bio- Born in the glittering glass towers of Linthesa, Iliad lived with his siblings after his mother and father tired of life and cast themselves from the Cliffs of Serenity as was their custom. Training in the arts of the Duskblade, learning to wield both steel and magic with equal skill, Iliad set out to prove himself, leaving the protective barriers of his homeland to test his mettle. Fighting the dark elves for a time, Iliad was mortally wounded by a dark elven assassin, and as his blood spilled out onto the cobbles, Iliad had a vision of a man in golden armor promising him life if he would only serve him for a time yet unnamed. Young and foolish, Iliad agreed, and was restored to life, and fought off the dark elves, and claimed victory. As the years melted past, Iliad forgot his oath, and returned home. When the necromancer Gogoth-Mal marched his undead hordes upon elven lands, Iliad took up the call, and battled the dead. When Iliad confronted and slew Gogoth-Mal, the golden figure appeared once again, demanding his service, he refused, and to his horror, Iliad had his soul ripped from his body, and held by his malefactor. His body began to rot at an accelerated rate, leaving only a skeleton behind. Forcing his soul back into his withered shell, the Golden Man once again demanded his service, and Iliad had no choice but to obey. Two hundred years later, Linthesa was burned to the grounds, and a strange golden warrior led an undead army to battle. Now, Iliad wanders the countryside obeying the twisted edicts of the Golden Man, praying for his death to finally claim him.

Ranun woke up refreshed to the sounds of birds singing. He got out of bed and started wandering around the grounds of the fortress.
34885
Post by: Tyranic Marta
(Ranun) As you wander around you gradually get to know the fortress better, it seems to be layed out quite simply, the main cathedral is in the center of the fortress, with the knights living quaters arrayed out around it, the civilians seem to be housed agaisnt the walls, their homes backing onto the walls, between the civilian residences and the knights residences there are a great number of training feilds, usually these would be utside the city, but because the knights of Phobos annually hold contests of jousting etc they are insidde the walls for the civilians to watch in saftey. The armouries and smithies appear to all be below ground and the smockstacks from these appear on the towers of the walls, as they can also be sued as signal fires in times of need, smoke signals that can travel high into the air.
Each knight maintains his own weapons and armour as a rule however the paladins get their weapons just before battle from the smithies, the Clerics tend to live inside the cathedral except on festival days when they roam the streets preaching to the townsfolk.
The many gardens throughout the fortress are home to many birds, and many of them are songbirds. A great variety inside the fortress means that it is never quiet.
The markets and such that usually abound in a place like this are absent, instead it seems that each civilian home is a two part affair, the bottom story is a shop, the upper levels for residency.
Around the fortress are great fields of wheat and other produce, however only on the rarfacing side of the fortress, and are enclosed in great curtain walls to protect the farmers.
All of the knights have the opportunity of eating in the lower levels of the cathedral just below the sepulcture, and ringed around this great hall are the guest rooms where you are staying.
At about midday when you are having your meal the knight you met yesterday, Marta, walks into the hall, in full plate armour with a sword at his hip and his great shield at his arm.
He looks around briefly and sees you, walking over he hails you, "How goes it Ranun? I wonder if you would ride with me to battle this day? The skeletons are massing in a moderate force just south of the city, your aid would be greatly appreciated."

(silentsong) Upon waking you go out into the streets, its a long time scince you have been here and much has changed, but the knights of Phobos still ride out daily to fight the encroaching hordes from the sepulcture.
(Ranun) You look a brutal sight, your tribal armour making its mark on the paladins who look impressed by your massive prescence. The layered plates of your Iron armour make an interesting sight against the bright white of the burnished steel plate of your allies.
The horns of war sound and a low chant springs up in the ranks of paladins, you can feel the energy flowing through you, the paladins draw their double swords The ring of metal fills the air, you see the swords in bright clarity, ever burr on the bright steel showd to your eyes, you look around the fortress and find yourself able to pick out the face of a housewife hanging out washing on the other side of the fortress. Whatever the Fanatics are chanting, you lie the effects.
Just then the entire company starts moving forwards and your allies continue their chant, more terrifying to the enemy than a thousand warcrys

(Iliad, Cruor) The two of you and your warriors move closer to the twon, you all sheath your weapons and look at the dull landscape, one of the knights speaks, "Why does the great Necromancer even wish for these lands? There is nothing special here"
Anouther answers, "Do not be a fool, the Necromancer wishes to be the one who ressurects the great son of Plague, who is imprisoned in the fortress at the center of this land, that is our final goal."

i walk outside and hear the chant as i hear it i know that i must wait for the kill. i walk back inside.
"brother, we must wait with the kill, we of the brotherhood are killers but we are not heartless so i don't kill him and see this city slowly die because they cant choose a leader as it is war. i ask you to ask the masters permission to hunt for the enemy general so the kill can be made a lot quicker. oh and can i get a nightstalker ale? i know its your specialty. and i think i don't even have it finished before i get a answer back."
the barkeeper and silentsong smiled as he gave silentsong his ale and sended the message with his shadowwing.

(silentsong) The message does indeed comeback swiftly, the target is not up for debate, however i agree, killing the high priest now would create a war we cannot hope to survive when the tides of undead wash over the continent... you need to infiltrate and gain the trust of these holy warrirs, then when the war is over against the undead... then you may strike.

"For Syrnga!" Yelled Ranun furiously as he charged the skeletons. (Syrnga was one of the Wood-Goddesses) Though it may take skill to wield to blades, Ranun was not envious of the Warriors of Phobos... all it took was a really big stick to compensate for them. Ranun and the Paladins swept into the skeleton horde. Ranun leaped into the horde and started crushing the skeletons before him with his mighty weapon.

(ranun) as you purge your way through the skeletal horde yousee larger figures astride undead horses and sightly smaller figures wielding sythes, the undeathknights seem to be calm, their great swords held almost casually across their laps, but the Sythe wielders seem to be agitated, every now and then one will spout gouts of insects from its skeletal mouth and will spit them out, a feat you find impressive for they have no lungs. Then one aches its hands towards a mob of paladins and one of your new allies explodes, showering his fellows with rats and other vermin, the battle has become a whole lot more serious

ok stage one of the battle
The dark tide of obsidian clad warriors halts in the gloom of early morning, their forces are arrayed thusly as you can see, large forces of heavy infantry appear to layer the entire front, thick spears held out in defiance, archers can be seen stringing massive bows behind them.
A steady drum beat rises up as your cavalry wheel into position, the archers and infantry following, your heavy infantry goading the lighter skeletons forwards.
The drumbeat is joined by a lighter rythym and the cavalry halt whilst the archers string and laod their bows, then the rythym stops and clouds of arrows blacken the sky as thaousand uf undead archers loose their arrows. you cannot see the effect of the shooting in the gloom but you are confident of its success,
an aid looks to you and you hear a telepathic question, "Do you wish for a nouther volley or should i have the standard bearer sound the charge?"

The charge's impetous has sunk them deep into the ranks of the living and your infanrty follow on, exchanging blows with the ataani infantry

stage two of the battle,
The Ataani lines shuffle slightly, great shadows can be seen dep in their ranks, these solidify into massive steeds, thrice the height of a man, carrying eliete ataani horsemen
these elite troops charge towards your remaining infantry guarding your archers.

(Silentsong/Arnash) The paladins are silent for a long time which you are thankful for as your lord sends you a particulaly complex incantation, the feelings you get seem to indicate that that this will mask your powers from magical sight.

omg sorry nocturne
(Silentsong/Arnash) You will not see the rites for some time yet, first you must learn the sacred text of Phobos, it is not long, a mere hundred pages, but learn it you must, learn it well enough to understand the lessons in its pages, then you may see the rites and chants that our paladins learn.

(Ranun) The undeathknight topples from his steed, which promptly flees the holy warriors around it, the knight hits the ground with an earthshaking crash, his many layers of plate armour smashing into the ground, they do not hamper him however as he rises, his massive greatsword clenched in one bony fist. His shoulder makes a strange grinding sound as he loops the weapon towards your head.

(Iliad) The pikes feel the weight of the cavalry smash into them but hold their ground as the area infront of the archers turns into a bloodbath, the archers firing loose into the enemy at hand, your cavalry push forwards slowly making ground against warriors that match thier hieght on horseback. The necromancers in the midst of your infantry begin to raise the dead ataani, grim facimiles of what they were in life counter charging the Ataani army. The light ataani infantry break and flee as their friends attempt to kill them. But the Heavy infantry are more grim and unforgiving, holding the line against these new horrors, but then your heavy infantry smash into them and the battle begins to pivot, your cavalry pushing a wedge into them and your infantyry widening the gap.

Battle Plan
Call for the pikers to engage the infantry, using their reach to their advantage, the rest of the deathless host will pile in, butchering the rest of the Ataani.

(Iliad) The pike men stem to the front of the lines, forcing the enemy infantry deeper into the press, your warriors pile in fighting toe to toe with the ataani warriors
At the rear of the Ataani army comes a loud heavy drumbeat, rolling without pause, it goes on for a long time, rippling through the ground, the Ataani turn and begin to march away from the battle, assive strides outdistancing your shorter warriors but the cavalry trap several squads which your army quickly turn to the walking dead.
From the source of the drum beat can be seen 30 warriors in full armour, massive swords held in their hands, at their fore is an imposing figure of an ancient Ataani wearing full armour bar his head which is bare and showing his pure white fur.

(Silentsong/Arnash) The paladin hands you a slim volume with the symbol of a radiant star on the cover. "we will contact you when we think you are ready, continue with your duties we will watch as you learn, then we will approach you again" You open your mouth to ask a question but they are simply gone, no getting up from the table, no incantation, just gone.

(Silentsong/Argash) A feeling of interest roils through you as you open the book, a quick look at the first page tells you that the book apears not to be a mixture of teachings from some prophet, but the gold flowing ink and ippecable penmanship tell you that this is a magical copy of a gods (or goddesses) handwriting.

With the sheer number of corpses I have at my disposal, tactics mean nothing. A massive host of Ataani dead rush the commander, pulling him from his mount.

(Iliad) As your hordes approach the white haired figure he simply waves his sword and the ground ripples beneath your hordes, suddenly a massive rift opens beneath them sending hundreds to their doom, as the white haired figure walks forwards the rift snaps shut infront of him,
(Silentsongetc) As you read the book your lord becomes more and more interested, you realise you are going to have to read the book several times.

Battle Plans
Calling upon the power of the Golden Man, Iliad advances through the hordes of the undead, raising his great blade in challenge to the feline warlord. "My god is stronger than yours, I think I have proved that beyond a doubt this day. Lay down your arms, become immortal..."

(Iliad) The warrior strides ahead of his force and swirls his sword, a massive wall of rock explodesw out of the ground around the pair of you, trapping you in. he smiles, "you are no match for the powers of Gaia, she will crush your bones to dust."
He advances forwards, "but your god would be able to halt your doom and we would battle eternally without success if we were to engage in a battle of magical will, so come, let us fight."
