You missed the "the" before three. That's why it seems a bit off.

Again, this one looks great because it's fairly understated. There's enough to establish the Legion identity and then it just stops.

To me the word bearers seem to be space marine fraternity boys who all woke up after an intergalactic kegger and found that someone wrote all over them with sharpies. Maybe that's why they started the hersey , Roboute wrote "tosser" on the aureulians forehead the emperor couldnt stop laughing for days, now its personal

Having worked in a school for the past two years they make me think of the odd kids who sit in a corner doodling on themselves and get kind of aggressive if you try to make them stop. Yours is much funnier, though.

Re: Vorax. I still feel like the insect head is a bit incongruous. Neither the Thallax nor the Castellax (or Thanatar for that matter) have a face, the latter barely have a 'head', and I like that. It emphasises that they're killer robots. The rest of the model remains super cool.

I appreciate the winner modeling his Warhound to step on a Wave Serpent.

Well, the Vorax is in essence the re-make of the old Rogue Trader Crusader robot and as such draws heavily from their design and distinctive features just as the new Castellax battle-automata is the evolution of the Castellan robot.

Updated Crusader concept-scetch by Jes Goodwin (1993)

Imperial Robots (released 1988)

Another of Jes' updated robots, this time the Castellan, the ancestry of Forge Worlds robots becomes quite clear.

Oh, I agree but it's not what I expected when the email stated that it was a very large mech unless this is like the Knight variants and is somewhat larger than the original. Still, I like the look of the guns on the arms.

Seems a bit of an odd choice though, when there are still loads of FW books that haven't had a 2nd Edition yet. Vraks part 1 is still 4th Ed for a start.

Oh, that's cool! Stealth update, I didn't know that. I've only ever seen the original copy of Vraks 1, so didn't know. Even so, 5th Edition is still pretty outdated though, and whilst the Siege list has been updated to 6th, the Renegades list and some of the special characters (Belphegor and Arkos) are still at a 5th Edition level.

The change in FW newsletters to a more begging stance over the last 6 months or however long is becoming tiresome though, given that I can get such info from forums anyway I think it's time to unsubscribe.

The bundles always annoy me as I've already brought most or all of the ones I'd want. They also highlight just how much I have spent.

The vraks bundle of three books for £50 is good value if you just want the fluffy bits. I know the rules will be updated soon (probably in time for Christmas I would guess) but if you don't plan on running the rules or can obtain them from elsewhere then the books are lovely resources for that amount.

I think GW is a lot more predictable and less random than FW. FW just throws out random models each month with no rhyme or reason. GW would have put out all of the Imperial Knights at the same time. FW is just holding on to them and mixing up their releases. And, FW will go and do a whole IA update then release more models for that army 6 months later and have to provide a PDF for that unit's rules. I love what FW does but it needs to get its s--- together in the model/rules release schedule.

Interesting that you're now not far short of being able to take a pure knight army of the forgeworld variants: You can only take one each of the Lancer, Castigator and Magaera without violating their respective rules.

Quite irked that whoever put together the Siege Assault Vanguard bundle didn't read their own rules (you must have three dreadnoughts in a talon, and I'd much rather have had a legal talon than the random achilles alpha which isn't currently legal for the vanguard).

Still, it's a nice bundle, even if it is expensive for a 1500 point block.

Interesting rules for that Knight. Tough to kill, but not as strong offensively as some other knights. The double tap battle cannon or the melta is better than the lightning gun, I think.

On the other hand, I look forward to fielding one in a Mechanicum army. also curious about the Volkite variant.

Forgeworld 2014 News & Rumours - p#132 Questoris Knight Magaera @ 2014/09/19 14:05:10

Post by: Nicorex

Actually I think the Lighting gun is better than the melta.
Sure it has a lower S and AP but with rending and shred added to it, plus an added 12" of range should make it a great killer.

Forgeworld 2014 News & Rumours - p#132 Questoris Knight Magaera @ 2014/09/19 14:11:14

Post by: Paradigm

That thing does look tough to put down, with the Ion Shield giving a -1 to the S of attacks on that facing or -2 if they're blasts! The Large Blast AP3 Rending Shred gun is going to murder MEQ or other infantry as well, especially combined with the Plasma Fusil.

I'm surprised that the ball thing that the normal Knight mounts its tilt shield and heavy stubber on isn't something special (like a Mechocculum or something), given how the Magaera's looks so strange. Unless that's supposed to be the plasma fusil.

I like the new Knights, I really want to run a 2k list with one of each Knight for kicks and giggles.

The Magaera in particular looks cool. It doesn't look like it has the raw firewpower of the other versions (I mean, it's better at killing infantry than the Melta cannon variant, but not as flexible in engaging armor), but works really well as a blocking/forward unit with that shield (effectively giving it a front armor facing of 14 with a 4+ invul from the start there, nice).

For the knights, they're complete kits, the Magaera is resin parts plus a plastic Knight kit, while the Castigator and Lancer are completely resin for the entire model.

I'm more interested in it aesthetically. That said it's probably gonna be tweaked Volkite Carronade, which is probably bigger than what's been shown.

It's wonderful. Of all the great Mechanicum-esque details, the thing I like the most is the Cyclopean head. It looks like the head of a war machine where the plastic knight head, without a visor, looks decidedly goofy.

Is he? The Castigator is 380pts, and this is 395 right?
They probably won't release the upgrade kits separately- FW hasn't done that with kits for awhile.
As for sprues in the box, it may not include an entire knight- If there is a plastic sprue that has parts entirely replaced by the resin, then they won't include it. My FW Vulture only had half of a plastic Valkyrie in it.

Castigator is all resin, thus requiring moulds for all its pieces, and is much bigger than the standard knight on which the Magaera is based. Makes sense for it to be more expensive.
