Strip off all armour, weapons and tools. Set a respawn point inside the center of the maze and then flood the arena, darkening everything totally and have the player try and get out.
Hey, I was thinking of making a pyramid made out of Netherrock on the Dakka server, and I wanted to know if it was ok.
I'm asking because I was thinking of setting it on fire afterwards, and I know fire is annoying, can burn down trees and can increase lag sometimes.
I was planning on building it near Shrikes holiday home, n0t_u's Arcadia and I think it was Frenchyvines condo house thingy, so I won't do anything without their say so. Or, I can just build it in the middle of the ocean (a different one, ie not directly above Arcadia.) Which ever is best for everyone.
Someone stole my 18 diamonds, plus 20+ blue dye, a saddle and and almost an entire stack of iron.
Last time I was connected was this night, at around 2:30. Corpses, you're the last one I saw around my secret room. Did you close it when you left as I asked you?
Damn it this server sucks. Why can't we never trust anyone? I'm just gonna bury my resources somewhere. And BE WARNED. NO ONE is allowed near my new villa. NO ONE. That's it, if I ever see anyone near my house, I'm gonna throw my wolf pack at you (I've got more than 12 wolves by now). I'm even tempted to destroy my portal to isolate myself definitively.

No I wasn't on at that time. Last time I was on, was when you were working on my secret room. So this hole was made by the griever.

Maybe the server logs might help. How many folks in total were online between when you logged out and corpses logged in? Anyone that seemed to stay around until the server was emptier? Any recurring names in particular that log in around the time your stuff seems to go missing?
I've decided against doing the Netherrack pyramid on the dakka server, as I made it on a friends server instead.
I had to decorate the outside of it as it looked like a giant fire and I don't feel it's completely done yet, and I still need to work on the interior. I'll take some screen shots of it then

It is unlikely they are an established player and it is more likely they were online when we were talking about the room between 12 and 2am.
Also, is there anything in-game to indicate a server admin as a server admin? My thoughts are - what if Lego made a small secret police? Next time he selects a couple folks to be admins, don't announce it. Keep it a secret. A Greifer is far less likely to greif if he -knows- an admin is online. But if he doesn't, then that'd make it far easier to track him through the logs.

Well, I remember that dark and masterfett were on towards that time because they were sometimes chatting with us. But other people might have been on. But the log on listing doesn't go back that much in time.

I agree completely. It would really cut down on griefing, and even if it doesn't, we'll be more likely of catching them.
There is a crudely built frame there at the moment, that will soon be housing a great big bell (once I grow balls big enough to go spelunking properly, alone...)
Will be a lair underneath, not sure how big it will get though I'm afraid (not huge, I know that)
I reckon anyone caught griefing should be summarily executed on site before being whitelisted,

That would require their co-operation (coming online and staying for you to do so), which is unlikely. I'm looking through the logs now.

nah, I'd enjoy seeing more variety to minecraft, and I think mods might be the way to do it, though not with guns and planes....a bit too technical for minecrafts period.

Between when I was last on (12:30 ish) and now (1:30 ish), some douchebag went into my cabin and stole 32 blocks of iron.

On my new server we have a system in place that eliminates greifers, we can only build/destroy on our own land (we actually have a mod that does this) and can lock doors and chests.

Shogun, according to the logs, you logged on today at 18:16 GMT (not sure what time that is where you are) and almost immediately said your iron was missing. But you hadn't logged on since 06:13 GMT, that's a 12-hour gap during which it could have gone missing, not a 1 hour gap. It's gonna be extremely hard to pin that on someone. I've got two questions for the owner (well, 1 question and a statement), can I have some of the dirt from your chests, and mobs are able to spawn at the back of the pyramid (inside) and in certain craters.
If anyone wants to debate why I have the diamonds I do (only Corpses and possibly Dark know the amount I have, since they're the only people i've let inside my house and the amount has only increased by 2 since the last time I invited Corpses over about a week or two ago) then they can go and have a look around my mine.
I trust that the size of it coupled with the fact that it's placed on an elevation between 1 and 20, where the world generates diamonds will be enough to persuade anyone that my diamonds were obtained fairly.
The only diamonds I have used, were making a single diamond pick that I am still in possession of (and have been for a large number of weeks, I remember Dark having to re-spawn it for me when it was lost after he'd got me off the nether roof - The roof incidents having taken place long before now), and two jukeboxes that have been in my house for months.
I also wish to point out that i've not been online for the past 3-4 days.
Furthermore I wish to remind people that anyone bar Corpses and Dark who knows how many diamonds I have and aims to wrongly accuse me of theft, will themselves be admitting a charge of trespassing on my property, and since entry to my property is impossible without destroying blocks, you will also be admitting to griefing.
You can't just accuse me with no evidence... I had just built a house far away from everyone. Laodamia had it in his picture. It is miles away so i don't get griefed!

Yeah, collecting sandstone is boring because it is just clicking and holding a button, but i like exploring caves because it is fun. I dig down and find diamonds. They're easy to find ffs! The only reason I asked for sandstone was because I didnt realise it spawned naturally, So I used about 7 shovels collecting sand. I havent even seen this 'house', I only made it because I like the look of sandstone which reatured in the Yogscast, Shadow of Israphel Tomb. I use the same texture pack, GeruDoku) and I had the Iron and 13 diamonds legit, which I found in Dakkatown. I seriously havent done anything wrong. Half the time im on the server, Im on my XBOX. Ask EagleArk. I only go on the server during pregame lobbies (hence the reason I always say 'brb' when I join) I actually havent done anything wrong.. Anyone on xbox live, send me a friend request and when I say brb, You can check my profile (usually playing Modern Warfare 2 or Call of Duty, Now playing fallout new vegas) My gamertag is 'x ReacTzZ UK'.
Yeah 3 stacks of sand... I dont even remember doing that Lapis Command, Me and my brother share accounts. He might of tried it as I let him play on my server and he uses /give. He likes lapis anyway because he likes to dye sheep..

Yeah that's mine Avatar I'm aware that mobs are able to spawn, it's a minor concern and you can have as much dirt as you want I dont need aything from those chests.
Guys, sorry I can't and haven't been on much, I have just been doing other things in real life, and spending my computer time on Youtube etc. But don't worry, when i'm around I will either be in Brandywine, or my winter Stronghold mob factory out to the South.
I've been having troubles logging in earlier, probably due to versions of Java, or the Minecraft site was experiencing faults.

the best way is simply buried in a place only you know with a subtle marker (maybe in the corner of a room, or under a flower),
or maybe with pistons a hidden lever (buried/behind a wall) which reveals a hidden room.

a) 1 min 45. That's exactly the time it took me to get from my place to yours. After walking 50 blocks away from my house, I could see yours. Quite isolated indeed.
b) Then, your house was clearly inspired from mine, everyone that saw the two houses agrees. Which implies you "visited" my place, and liked what you found in there.

I walked for ages and dark even knows I walked so far, I was lost. Half the time I am not actually playing and I saw your house, but didnt go inside. No one had been where my house was, apart from me as dark was telling me why my items hadnt despawned after a day. It really is time to just start burying valuables and bypassing this drama and frustration, guys.
Even with all my chests full of stuff in my main room by the mob farmer, I still have stuff secreted away that I view as worth a lot. It's so little hassle and nips stealing right in the bud :(
the thing that makes multiplayer minecraft difficult is the fact that anything you create can be destroyed by someone else, so even if you make everything out of obsidian it still can be broken into its more difficult.
even traps can be bypassed once someone comes across them, it would be nice if certain blocks could be toggled between being only destroyed by the owner or anyone.
I have the largest structure on the server as far as I can tell, with tons of people visiting and building, dozens of chests in the open with all the rare stuff in hidden chests. People are invited to take some materials and help build.
not had one block stolen or destroyed, when someone throws something rare-er in the donation chests I grab it and put it in a hidden area.
But really if you hide your chest room behind a wall in a non obvious spot with no door or anything leading to it, its fairly difficult to find, if you leave no open air blocks around it it won't be revealed by wallhacks, and if it is, dark is very good about restoring missing stuff and removing the offender.

Take the portal in mordor, that's the cobble building in the middle of a lake of lava in the nether. It will lead you "the Moria". You'll understand what I mean once you get there.

I was more implying that alot of people get shown the castle because its cool and you literally walk past a dozen chests on your way in and we do not have a thief/grieving problem, at all.

It's not in the nether. That's just Shrike's Mordor. The portal in Mordor goes to Gooda's place. Gooda's place is in the normal world, but is underground.

But it wasnt me. I swear down. I have a map in my chest. You can see the route I took and I walked it and I did find the diamond legit, its not hard as I dig to layer 13 and dig a massive corridor 3 blocks tall and about 9 wide. As for Zn asking for proof, i've previously caught you inside my house without my permission. There was a perfectly good portal that you used to enter it that you could've also used to exit. Having my portal doors destroyed, my house attacked (someone burrowed through the wall and replaced everything not quite as well as they thought they did, as well as switching paintings on the walls for no apparent reason), my portal used despite the door being closed (the lava trap was removed, as was the door that was previously closed) and my porch being half destroyed, with the missing materials being discovered in a castle project that you were sharing...
Only you have been known to commute using my portal without my permission, and the fact that nothing was stolen from my house bar what was missing from the porch, with the front door being removed and found underneath the house implies that someone wished to use the house as a shortcut. Seeing as you've previously been caught doing that very thing, it shouldn't come as a surprise that you're seen as the offender this time.
You have offered very little in the way of defence. I've seen your mine, and there is no way that you could've found all those diamonds in such a small space of time whilst wandering around, when it's taken me weeks to collect the amount I have from extensive mining.

While I can appreciate the work that goes into something like this, it seems silly to praise someone for making a model in Classic. There's no real "challenge" (insofar as there's a challenge even in Survival) in simply placing and removing blocks. Whereas if someone were to do this in Survival...well, it would be a lot of snow/wool to collect.

Since chunks of the world aren't updated until you actually travel there, I'm sure if you travelled far enough on Dakka Prime you would eventually reach a new area that would have ravines.
Find the co-ords of your house, and divide the x and z by 8.
Then, build a portal at that positon in the nether.
That way, it will link to your portal.

we were discussing this earlier, and I pointed out that though it would fit nicely, I doubt notch would make it so that you have to make a nether portal just to let you go into an entirely different world. there isn't really anything as easy to obtain but awkward to handle as obsidian, so I think the method of lighting would be different.

In the Aether though, notch will think up something stupid to do. I mean in the nether he made giant floaty marshmallows that spit fire at you and scream when your close. He will probably end up adding Ostriches that can fly and 'make' baby ostriches. They will keep coming. It will be covered with Ostriches, as the nether is filled with... Mushrooms! Eventually I want notch to make apples fall from trees (1% chance when destroying a leaf) and cocoa beans to grow, like wheat.

Nether travel is a good idea.
Will helm's deep be on the Dakka Server?
helm's deep will be on the dakka server. The plan is to find a large cliff/make a decent sized one bigger, get the caves for the women adn children and use as a temporary base, then basically expand outwards, from the keep, to the keep's wall, to the inner wall, to the outer wall and the deeping wall to the causeway.

Seeing as if I go on 3 hours a day solid walking, without stopping at all, It'd take best part of a year, how about we do it in the nether?

That's still a month of walking. Assuming a ghast doesn't find you along the way.
Plus, if you corrupt the dakka save file you're going to upset a lot of people.
meh. If we are careful, avoid lava/build cobble bridges with rails and bring lots of bowls, we should be good.
corrupt the save file? That would be bad. Lego? Could dakka handle a trip to the farlands?

because if we travel a certain distance, then wait for a server reset, then finish off the trip, it could just be rolled back, say, 30 minutes previous.

The wiki says that it would take 800+ hours to walk to the end… I don't think you will make it XD
Imagine how annoyed you'd be if you got there in the nether, made a portal to the overworld and it still linked with the closest overworld portal, about 799 hours in the opposite direction of where you wanted to come out.
I have just logged on to SSP, and found that I think 2 of my worlds have dissapeared, my best ones!!
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix?

If you have windows 7, type into the start search bar '%appdata%' and click on the '.minecraft' file. Click on 'saves' and then leave that open. Next, search the name of your world into the search bar.When you find it, drag the folder into the 'saves' file. Reload Minecraft and it might be there. Just find the world and drag it into the 'saves' file. That is all. If its not there, try scrolling through your worlds. You may have got to page 2. If it is not there, it could be deleted for good.
Oh one other thing, have you tried shutting it down and rebooting it?
Do you have any addons or mods installed, Raptor? Try disabling all of them. I had a world that I wasn't able to load once. I could see it, but it would freeze when it would try to load mods. Disabling the mod fixed the problem.
