well lone cat...fluff wise they use coal... nice and dirty coal... nothing to make a good and lasting fire than smoke...well back in the victorian age of course...
i stick with the tau piece for now, it has that nice grill...i like the oven look of that...
and no, it is all plastic... no cardboard involved...
at all... yep that is what brings and lets me stay on this board... the banter that can sometimes switch over to a good discussion about much more important ideas and concept than plastic...ups...heresy anyone?^^
as for the update... no it is not on the walker...but on a totally if not entirely unrelated matter...
i hereby present to you
Rivetto MK I
he is the first of a new dawn of (experi-)mental carftmanship... the last resort in automated firefights... saving lives by taking lives by automatons...
steely clad and armed with sharp claws and the ever trusty teslarifle, rivetto marchs into the ranks of the foul enemy of the beloved empress queen victoria...
he will hit primer today...and hopefully see paint even this night... so it might be that a finished model might hit your eyeballs this night even....
thanks kind sir^^.... and he is supposed to look cute... imagin soething like that coming your way on the battlefield... to have an evil looking robot fighting against you is one thing.... but a smiling one... now that inspires pure terror to the fleeing enemy...psychological warfare at a new level^^
Lone Cat, why do you always drop into a thread, take up half of a page with a sloppy quote that you never edit out redundant pics, and then leave your opinion as if it is the only opinion that counts, and then never return to the thread to finish the convo? In case you don't get it, that is generally considered rude.
er...dave... i think you are basicall y right... have witnessed said behavior quite often with him...
and thanks mate^^
at MauS... could be subconsious... i like bender and futurama too^^ but the main reason i made him is that my youngest son one future (hruhurhur) day will have a need for an own army... and i have for now cleverly decided it will be a bit of a necron army... but a scratchbuilt one...
Vik! Where did that come from?!? (I think I was partially surprised because your title didn't change ) Great work on Rivetto, mate! How long did that take you? Is he reaching for something in his backpack, or is that a menacing gesture?
My only CC would have been similar to MauS':

Oh my... Rivetto is awesome!
I wish I could paint him... You can cast this one, you know? And it will be nice to see a whole bunch of those with different characters and some variations. I already can see a good band of charismatic robots!
Well done, El Vic! Keep it up!
Another possible source of "boiler" type boxes/cylinders might be
1 old film canisters (if you can find any in the era of Digital photography)
2 MnM minis tubes (or a similar candy container)
3 The Pegasus "chemical plant" kit
4 the mini "beverage" cans (stuntie coke/pepsi, some juice cans)
5 Batteries used as a form for rolled and glued paper (ala Bugbait's barrels)
guys.... you serious? hmmmm.... i take that as a huge compliment... but atm there are certain issues i have with this rivetto...that is why he is in fact named mark I... there will be definatly a second one... the limbs are not really what i want... next time i want to use different thicknesses of rods to make the limbs more working like looking...
but i think trollforge would be indeed a good idea to get this on the way... shouldn´t the mini then be in several parts to make it be cast in a more flexible way?
at ishkatar.... if you would paint him he would look ages better than if i do him^^ and it is already planned to make more of him... how and when is another matter but as i said, the army i have in my mind is for my youngest son...some necon like idea...
at jake :
Yes! You should do this! I would buy some!
wow....many thanks^^ we will see about that^^
at galron.... in fact i have lots of these items in my scratchbuild box already.... the filmcans specially i like to use...but they tend to not like glue... super glue just falls off and the plastic glue melts it but deosnt cure it anymore... it is a mystery...
well i tried to prime rivetto today... used smelly primer form the pot.... but some fingers fell off...so i had to reglue them on... now i will let it cure fully until tomorrow...then i can do some ugly paintwork to him^^
thanks for all the cheerful comments mates... they were very much apreciated...and needed today...
Viktor von Domm wrote: the filmcans specially i like to use...but they tend to not like glue... super glue just falls off and the plastic glue melts it but deosnt cure it anymore... it is a mystery...
Have you tried scraping the part you want to glue with a file or something and then using the Super Glue?
Or, you could drill into the canister, and use GS to bond the pieces together.
Or, I'm not sure if you guys have the small energy drinks over there,
They might be a bit big, but it might work.
shrike wrote:to complete the cuteness, add a top/bowler hat in his claw so he's doffing it to the enemy Great work, mate ^^
tied to make a top hat but i didn´t have the materials for that... but now i will search with more enthusiasm... i like that idea... told my wife what a character this robot should have... deadly and sevicable and a gentleman... " so sorry to do you in good sir..."
at baiyuan ...thank you sir!
at monkey... definatly with a different pose and i like to come up with a better way to make that boiler for him... and a nother head... cute how this is but i want something a bit more round looking...
at jake... i think i have seen these eergy drinks already... but they are in this smallish bottle a bit still new on the market...but i like the shape!!!
and yep... tried scraping a bit... but i think a redo is a good idea... GS and pinning with it,...sounds interesting...

ups missed your comment entrily... up now that is...
he is calling his fellow robots to charge... or as shrike now suggested doffing his hat... if i am able to make one that is^^
well he took some time... i would guess about two hours... the limiting factor is always the glue getting to cure... that is such a timestretching issue...
and many thanks rawson... by the way... about the cuteness... he has even a winking eye if you look closley...

To get super glue to adhere you simply need to sand the plastic a little with a fine grain sandpaper (200+ grit, generally is black) or use the film canister as a form for a rolled paper cylinder soaked with PVA glue.
Ha love him he is amazing How could you fight that you would stand there and go ARRRRRRRR!!! then it would turn and melt your face of how sweet …. great work though its like Benders nicer brother turned out well and you must build a top hat most definitely the pose screams it and its steam punk.
The next one needs a bow tie and monocle just to tie them together
Great work and nice use of bits how many pieces are on there by the way

reminds me of a red dwarf episode:
"The poor wretch. He has a faulty gun. He has accidentally shot me five times. Oh, how I love him!"

Good Luck!
honestly I don't drink this stuff. too dangerous to me.
now that is the best comment tortured robot... (and because of your name as well...) to get my new update rollin´!
in the following pics you will see a newly made (painted and hat donned rivetto...)
also...and i am fully aware of this...i have an update on the walker! yeah you´ve read right... today you get two picture updates to the price of one look!!! you won´t get a better deal at this time anywhere else!
as for the current demand of new steampunky robots... fear not, soon i will prsent you a new update on the current build...
at LDD... love the idea of a monocle and a bowtie... ...i have to see how i might be able to do this...PC or GS... we will see about this...
at tortured again... only a luke warm flame war^^
at fatty.... nice offer...hmmm... have to think about that...^^ sometime in the future...i want to start a new project... i am not really sure what this might be...
at shrike... lol... that is the way i had in mind.... ^^
at galron... will try that methode...
at rogue... thanks mate!!
at dave...
Domo Arigato Mr. Rivetto
somehow that reminds me of a simpson episode...the one with homers mug on a japaneese washing soap...
at shaso...thank you sir!
and now to the for now finished Rivetto...:
and after this little entrance of cuteness...
here comes the current walker status quo...:
don´t mind the clothpegs tho...
the toes will see work as promised soon and also there is plenty of other work still needed with it... this is just the merest shapeing of the vessel...
yeah... i felt it deeply needed to finish a project in a sharter time...not something like my other projects that get eventually finished and if so in a geological timescale^^
thanks...and watch out this space for more robots...^^
Great job on all Rivetto looks mighty dashing there with hat and all …….. now he needs some chums to thin the lines of the infer dales …… the walker is coming on well was wondering how you would connect the barrel turned out well and BIG WELL DONE for the paint job
That is AWESOME Vik! Rivetto kicks ass! And the boiler is pretty cool alll mounted up too! For a monacle, why not use your hole punch on some clear plastic? THen a smaller masking tape punch for the center, then paint a brass rim? I'm sure you can find some cheap jewelry chain somewhere too ;
ohoh... the monocle even with some chain attached...ohoh...you guys make some serious suggestions here...will see about that... i still have some of that very thin pC around so this might come in handy here...
thank you dave and LDD... the rivetto was rather fun to do... just pure inspiration and impulse at work here...
"good day, kind sir. I shall now proceed to blow your head off, if you don't mind. Cheerio!"
the walker reminds me somewhat of a bird hopping along the ground (In a good way), it seems all that family stuff has gone to your head and now you're making a goldmine of cuteness ^^
it seems all that family stuff has gone to your head and now you're making a goldmine of cuteness ^^
lol one could call it that way^^
or i reached out into the dark and grimmness of the genre and came out the other side...and now i flood the table with sinister cheerfulness and that helpfull attitude that lets oponents use their lives in wonder...
yesterday I was listening to some iron maiden in the car with my brother... he makes a point of putting his earphones in and turning the volume up. I ask why he's doing that and he says "what? these guys are pathetic" he listens to "dubstep" and "screamo". I spent the next 5+ minutes staring at him emotionlessly.
the only reason I didn't hit him there and then was a) because I was sat directly in front of him so it would be very awkward and b) he's stronger than me ^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:ROFL... but if he listens to this stuff...how can he beat someone anyway...? i mean...he only is able to cry someone then into oblivion...
90% of the reason he listens to that stuff is because his "friends" do, 5% is because it's modern and he immediately dismisses everything old as bad (even monty python) and the other 5% is because he's an idiot.
that gives you 100% justified reasons to put him out of his misery... family mercy doesn´t aply here... just say the cops later on that i am ok with your decision^^
order...more likley... and i think it is more of a thing of doing a job poperly...
so i get the results tomorrow? and don´t forget... xenoemos need one in the face and one un the chest... better safe than sorry... because...who watches the watchmen...? Us...of course...
That robot is some great stuff. If there's something we can all agree upon, its that robots are amazing.
The only problem is when I Mr. Rivetto is, when I see him, all I can think about him dancing around like Sex Robot from that Whitest Kids You Know skit.
A spectacular double feature! Excellent work all around, Vik!
I'm not the biggest fan in the world of a Rivetto army, but the scratchbuilding skills used to construct the lil' guy are commendable! Also, he served his purpose in giving you a break from the walker
The walker progress I'm more excited about! It's really taking on the steampunk look with the boiler on now! I'm looking forward to seeing a finished project soon!
ah...the bird is far from finished... this is but the basic structure... did some small scale work on the smokestack...and there is no just so much stabilizing and covering work...and if i am feeling up for it then i need to do something that makes it better looking...some details for the steampunk frilly feel...
as for rivetto mkII he is inbetween stages...later on i hope to present an update...
sometimes it is inspiration...help from friends...and sometimes the air is just agreeing with me^^
your lil "sketch" helped too! and if you are up to the task you could help me in fleshing out the bird...it needs some serious work still...something of a power transition to the legs...
this is the itchy part... would love to start with the riveting process...it has been felt ages to get into a rivetingfrenzy... boy i am needing to rivet something up...
Viktor von Domm wrote:this is the itchy part... would love to start with the riveting process...it has been felt ages to get into a rivetingfrenzy... boy i am needing to rivet something up...
The Dreadnoughts have a bit of spacers between the legs and the extra armor of their legs. That is where the main rivets can be set in, and then edged rivets all framing the plates. I see rivets spots all over the plates of the main body and platform.
legs look a lot more sturdy with the armour and angled shape, as opposed to the right-angled shape without armour plates.
Good work!
I'd love to see more rivetto's though ^^
maybe (if you get into the gaming side of 40k) counting them as stormtroopers might work.
Definitely coming together the more armoured legs make it look more sturdy as well so good call on that , the boiler is looking better as well with the extra detail you can really see the model coming together now.
This will be one fine walker when it is finished, what kind of weapon layout are you thinking for this will you be adding any other kind of detail maybe a search light or even some kind of megaphone on top victorian style
Looking forward to seeing this finished with a slap of paint but first pipe work gauges and rivets lots more rivets
lone dirty dog wrote:This will be one fine walker when it is finished, what kind of weapon layout are you thinking for this will you be adding any other kind of detail maybe a search light or even some kind of megaphone on top victorian style
Those sound like good ideas, LDD. You hearing this, Vik?
Sorry Tortured-Robot that was a bit daft of me to not link it
I dont think they are in his store as such but if you ask him he is usually able to sort you out dam he sounds like a back ally dealer , well in a way he is I need another hit ……..
zinges stuff is amazing... i have some of his vents and ventilators and also some guns...and some of his cool looking tesla coils...maybe if the underslung vickers attempt goes awful i will make a tesla gun...
as for the lewis gun... how could i forget her... i think this will be my next weapon attempt...!!! thanks for the reminder!
i have to sort out some items of zinge soon... his stuff gets better`n`better!
anyways... later on i will spoil you with some eyecandy on the walker AND the new Rivetto MK II... i am a bit uneasy of this version... as it is looking quite different... stay tuned...updates will follow shortly...
Thanks guys! There's still some work to be done, I want to run a tube down the rifle barrels and maybe one up to where the scope will go for the sniper rifle...you know, random piping for the steampunk look. And some more random cogs and such. And some bands to hold the barrel onto the stock. Still some more sanding and GSing to do.
And Shrike - I'll have the scope cast separately when I get to that point, so we'll see then if it looks better with or without the scope.
Or.....I could make a smaller scope for the standard rifles! Hmmm.
these guns look indeed totally fabulous... i really like them and would love to use those on my chaps... the scope in particular looks mighty fine!
there seems to be a major amount of sculting involved in the production of these...for now i only used PC to make my own guns...well i knew the way to finer detail was always GS work...but i am such a shy GS user...
at shrike... i too have that mauser ...have you seen that zinge made a new broomhandle? fit to be wielded by orks? i guess it will be in the shop shortly...
at rawson... yep these would fit very well the guardsmen... and it is indeed a blessing that i am such a slow painter^^ as i am thinking about a major overhaul of my footsloggers... so gunswap and a major headswap...pithhelmets or the pistoliers you used as well...or maybe even something enterily else...i would love to come up witha conversion i could handle on my own...
as for your second question jake...:
taaadaaaaAAAAAAA!!!
here comes Rivetto MKII... he is a new concept... and although he looks cute...i might have gone a bit overboard with cuteness on this one... it is of course the round head...
what the pics doesn´t show is the fast progress i made in the late evening... i created a nice boiler/oven with stack for him... that i will show you tomorrow as i think it justifies a daytime pic as well...
so here is Rivetto the second...
he uses this time a more projectile weapon...as to be seen with the mag...
also i tried to use ball-like joints this time instead of the disc shaped joints of the first one.... if that will be the new fashion remains to be seen...
there is still much to be done...as it atm has no rivets (*gasps*) and also i think the knees and elbows need more work...same goes for the ugly feet... there i need to commit a miracle...but at least it is already based... which is quite a feat (hurhurhur...)
so...comments?

argh... so lovely ideas there... i am totally eager to see how you will be working fuurther on these... have you considered making a flamer? or the greanadelauncher... i think the new rivetto wields some kind of mix between a shotgun and a thudgun...
Awesome! Kind of reminds me of a gum ball machine! I like the round joints. The gun looks very robot-y too! Nice!
And as for the GS part of my guns, I just used it on the stocks because I am more comfortable with GS than with Plastic Card. I used GS for the gears too, they can also be done with thin PC.
Cheers Vic! Looking forward to the pics of Mk II with the boiler!
I'm loving the head of Rivetto mk II, but I feel it as a whole is missing something... maybe the hands and feet need redoing... maybe the hands have have fingers or something? I don't know...
at shrike.. ups... forgott to emntion that he has already fiungers... i bought a L-shaped rod at the artshop at the weekend just for this specific use... so i wouldn´t dream about making a hand fingerless...*shudders* will be revealed tomorrw too...
at jake..lol gumball machine... more like gunball machine^^
yeah the smaller gears are way better to be done with GS work... i tried to do them in plasticcard but it always look dumb... so i tried to avoind them for now... maybe i use a stamoing idea i have...
at monkey... very good idea about the horizontal slots on the feet... i think that will be done tomorrow as my first deed...
at dave... thanks mate!
by the way... i also want to anounce that i am atm also working on a heavy robot... he will be wielding as LDD sugested a lewis gun...the drommag atm gievs me some hardships but i think i can do it... he will be a tad bigger than the first two... also i try to make the pistonlook on him far more detailed...
To all intents and purposes, the last one is, but scaled down I was thinking it might look cool...
and the helmets I didn't think they'd fit with your more personalised rivetto's ones, but I was thinking the torso and arms more than anything...
i´ll see what i can salvage form these pics... actually they are already in my gallery on my pc for quite some time... there is quite a big gallery of my researches already there...and it gets weekly updates as well... after all you have to keep well informed about other works^^

yep most definatly^^ ...plastic crad has grown on me immensly in the last days... it is a very nice material...
so.. suns up and i promised some more updated wip pics of the second rivetto...
that structure on top of the boiler made me thinking.... maybe one of my next bots should be a wound up one? like...a close combat one...all "wound up"...get it?^^
some little finishing touches now and he is ready to be painted...
the heavy is getting on fine... will present to you later on his likeness...i am quite pleased with him...
and the walker is getting on fine too... pics of these willl happen later...

Love the new edition very cute indeed though I am waiting for the paint job to make finale verdict as all the bits and colours are distracting me a bit , I feel this one could do with a clock work K9 to retrieve the corpses as he has that country gent out for a bit of hunting feel to him
a mechdog...now that is a nice idea...i will have to do some research for that... that is why i love this board... mindtank all over^^...and thanks LDD...
and you are totally right... it kind of keeps me from really seeing it too...using not only white plastic makes it indeed hard to see the overall look of the mini...
well what would you like for your army?
- if you want furious assault robots go for khorn or BA - if you want intense close fire fight go for SW - if you want zealous robots that go forward every time somebody dies pick BT. which would be nice as you can mix and match robots in one squad although the rules for BT arn't perfect for robots.
- if you want long range fire fights pick vanilla marines
- if you want a lot of big robots with smaller robots go for vannila marines with techpriest and 6 dreadnoughts (big robots) or BA with all the dreadnoughts you can ever want.
- and then there a DA for which i don't have an idea
- and before i forget we have the GK but i can't think of any connection accept there silver, which is a metal, robots are build from metal, robots often appear to be silver.
that should cover everything. might i add that i would go for long range fire power with lots of techpriest, squads and thunderfire cannons.
the thing is robots have a lot of metal and with the back packs you gave them not a lot of people can disagree if you call them count as space marine

that is a very indepth explenation...thank you sir... and all of these make sense... tho i have to say the BA idea strikes me of a very interresting idea... making even bigger robots as counts as dreads...i think that could be easier as i then could work not on such a small scale in the beginning...
and yep, those backpacks sure help to bring a count as SM look along...

wooden barrel boiler. is this based on the real life Stevenson locomotives?
transmission systems please. will it be 'shay geared' or will you connect the leg mechanism directly to the powering piston just like any steam loco?
Viktor von Domm wrote:
have you considered making a flamer? or the greanadelauncher...
I didn't see this question yesterday.
I have been working on concepts for flamers and plasms guns, but original ideas are escaping me at the moment. And for a grenade launcher I've been thinking of something similar to the Vietnam era "Bloop" guns the US Army used. Like this:
For my own Steampunk force, I've been either trying to make them like Steam Guns (same template, but with Steam instead of fire- and high powered steam/water jets cut just as well as torches do- They're Burnas) or have a sort of small furnace near the nozzle as the pilot light.
at ishkatar...
lol...yep...the whole concept is based loosely on the pinnochio theme... so yep...you are thankfully seeing the motivation behind the loud appearance^^
at anvil and jake...steam guns...as a sort of flamer stand in...good idea!... also one could muse about the idea of a waterpistol filled with acid? same effect really and even the look would be similar...
at hazzer...
yep...it is rather now almost like work getting online^^ so many threads are on my sbed list...and all are so important to me that i want to follow them closley...*wipes brow...*
at jake...love that thump gun...the M79 has a huge history...and i love seing it in movies and tv series of the `80s... nowadays they all use the dumb talon...the m79 had style and a nice "voice"...
at lone cat... that is an interresting question... i think anvil has some good ideas but i stll wonder how i can execute this rather simple plans into a convincing construction.... i am secretly thinking of avoiding the issue... maybe thats why i haven´t made progress for now due to that matter... if i leave that out, then i would hate me for ditching out on that one... i think i have to grow a pair and get on with it^^
at LDD...that dog is coming soonish... you certainly have sparked my ideacentre^^
The automatons are great!
I like the new Vik! (I said it before, something has happened to you. Have you been abducted by xenos recently? The must have given you some extra time with the "creativity in plasticcard" anal probe...)
holy... baiyuan... now you are trying to lower our standards as we tried to do yours?^^ lol...anal probe... i am not cartman you know?
well it all started with a longing to make good models...but cardboard didn´t cut it... and my own suply of PC was somehow frustrating... then dave jumped in and got me the current beginning of my stock of PC...which has grown quite nicley...and the material is very good for such small projects...
i guess it is a case of:
"der appetit kommt mit dem essen..." i think i am not able to translate that sufficiently...
Yep, I think it's just the plasticard that's made the difference - cardboard and junk is great for a variety of things, but adding the plastic to the mix has enabled you to get closer to your concepts.
I keep waiting on him to build that Vickers MG, but I don't mind seeing his other stuff develop
Give a talented man a miniature, and he can model for a day. Give a talented man an envelope full of plasticard and sticks, and he can model for a lifetime.

that is the abolute truth... i like the carving and slicing of that material... it is a blessing to the projects...
cardboard is especially fine for large areas... i think i will sometime in the future revisit the cardboard for terrainmaking... there i think it has a great potential...
at shrike...well... i have lost track when the postcount started to explode^^

Give a talented man a miniature, and he can model for a day. Give a talented man an envelope full of plasticard and sticks, and he can model for a lifetime.
...LOL...
and yep^^ that is what happened^^
by the way... terry pratchet used that quote too...
"give a poor man some wood and he is worm for the winter...light him up and he is warm for the rest of his life..."
lol... the third is already "heavy" in the works... he will be a heavy hitter... a bit taller...also i am working on a doggie... some sidekick for the trio...well i say trio but i guess this is a vast expanding idea^^
nice referrence shot there fatty... that weill indeed come in handy...
lol mordian...^^
at shrike... i am atm a bit more attached to the first one... but i guess all will be considered anew when the third and fourth will be hitting the screens...^^
at ishkatar... you are absolutly right... rivettos will be marching^^
at RW... thanks mate...but you ain´t seen nuffin yet^^ the best is hopefully still to come^^... care to explain why you think the second one looks better?... just for design ideas to further explore...
yepppers, that vid was just so cool... i like ackbar^^
ok ladies and gentlemen...
now i want to present to you my recent work...it is time for a hearty update!!!:
behold the threefolded roboty creation^^
at forst two groupshots...heavy, Rivetto MkII and ROVER...
then in full detail the completed Rivetto MK II...
did some more work on the boiler... hope it is done now...there was some minior bottom issues i had to solve...
then comes ROVER...credit to this idea goes directly to LDD...as he came up with the need of a doggy sidekick...
and here is the heavy gunner... all is still very WIP...the gun atm is too tiny for this robot´s scale to look like a heavy gun... so he will get a new one... a gatling... i still have a complete gatling (the barrels at least) at the ready...
also i do realize now that the pose needs tweaking...as he looks as if he is taking a dump...
Firstly great work again love the new guy hat looks good but where is the bow tie the gun could be bulked up a little and still work as a heavy IMHO …… As for taking a dump maybe he is just constructively constipated back to it again
Secondly the upgraded no 2 bot is still looking dashing all though the camera picture is a bit drenched with light to pick out the detail on his back ………
Thirdly and now my favourite Rover I might have a given you an idea but hell you executed so well It reminds me of something but cant put my finger on it at the moment ????? anyway great job love it but it needs ears how will it hear when they whistle ….
there will be a means of hurting other for the R.O.V.E.R... (besides... i need a full name now for that abbreviation...)
tomorrow i will show you daytime pics of all these... maybe evn some pint on the MK II...one might never know^^
atm if i would try to re-pose the ankles i think i would redo the feet...also i think it is not to be seen but he even has waffeld soles on his feets...^^
the gun will go to a worthy other roboty fella...so heavy...as yet unnamed...will get a nice gatlinggun^^ yummy^^
oh and i will see how a bowtie can be donned...at least he has a neck...so it is possible^^
no i like it... robotic is kinda obvious but this is at the same time something that makes it kind of sacrastic and is a tribute o some of the more darker comedy series ...
Seriously though, Vik, these things are perfect for casting and selling- they're small, simple, but full of character and integrate easily into multitudes of gaming systems- you could even use this style for Dystopian Wars if you wanted. Figure out how to cast them (or outsource- I'd be willing, or Chapterhouse or whoever) and sell them for around 2-3 Euros apiece (casting is much, much cheaper than that) and you'd probably be able to make a bundle.
It brings a whole new meaning to the term "Muts Nuts"
He is very cool, i now have images in my head of steam being vented from the back ... urm ... vent may be the best word for this time of the morning lol.
What sort of other people hurting device will R.O.V.E.R have?
well firstly he is a CC doggie...so jaw and claws...but i am thinking about a lil thingy that might spring from his back...or possibly some lil guns from his sides?....
morning vent... now that is a nice picture^^
had to look up muts... lol...manual ultrasonic test? that one? quite fitting and something i could do some weaponcreating around that... sonic ray -gun?
by the way, there is high talk that you´d be interested to become a riveteer?... before we teach you the secret handshake and the thing with a paddle we need to see something riveted up... *looks to his watch...* er....^^you know...that big skullturret of yers...nudge, nudge, nudge^^
at LDD... today i repositioned the heavy legs as suggested before by some of you...and i had to reglue the whole set of legs to rover... the fell off for some reason... but this time i used the testors glue and it fills even small gaps... so the hlaf round "claws" of rover are tomorrow finally done i think... i too have thought about adding radar ears... and i will have to figure out how to do that... parabolshaped discs... now that is something of a challange^^
by the way... whats the word about adding a nose??? shant or should?
There are many ways to rivet, ALL forms of riveting are allowed, and encouraged. There is no single correct way to rivet, we do not discriminate on riveting methods, only that you rivet, and rivet Extraordinarily.
Firstly no nose to much realism to robots does not work they are to represent not to replicate
As for joining the league it would be a honer and a privilege, however I do believe Vik's remark was aimed at MOrdain and some how the attack was turned to me
I will be creating a thread soon I promise but I am trying to get some stuff together to start it off with….. and after following your threads I have a lot to live up to ( once you get past all the rambling, yes I am looking at you Vik ) lol
Dave you have a lot to be blamed for I was all set to start painting but after seeing your airbrush skills I feel I cant start now till I have one to achieve the same results plus Micro Mark keeps sending these bloody emails with great stuff that I think that will be handy and i can do that with one of those and o look how cool but what is it
Aww No Man! I mean, if you're ever bored, look at my airbrushing on the round beebopdrums tower, I was horrible, then it's documented there in pics each time I used it, the more confident I got.
Just build, paint, convert, and have the camera there for snapping a lot of pics. Don't be shy man, we'll help you along.
LDD... don´t get frightened by the amount of stuff...odd stuff most of the time at that from all of dakka members... there are so many threads around that would not be up to any good and still are thriving... there is no point in saving up for a thread if you ask me... i think you got your head screwed on right...or make that rivetd on^^ and i think you should jsut make three or more pics of your stuff...in whatever state they might happen to be...heck some of the guys here started a thread by just showing full sprues of minis... and i know you have minis at least assembled already... blurry pics and too dark pics... all can me mebded and be forgiven...but no pics and no thread... man, just give yourself a nudge in the right direction...! how long do you want us to beg you for that?
and we don´t make errors... every rivet is aimed at the righht spot... we have our beady eyes upon ye... you gave lots of cool ideas...so we assume you would also make a good member...see, we didn´t see nuffin yet of yer stuff and already value you...^^
seems the no nose faction is pretty strong^^ so if no one steps up for a lil nose action i say it is a no nose design^^
and i have a hard time every time i go to a hardware store... if i would have endless cash...there is no telling what crazy powertools and other stuff i could end up buying...heck i probably would have a wooden tank in my backyard by now...IF i had a backyard^^

Well, I will dig some stuff up this week end and take some pics, cant promise anything great but it will be a start plus it will be a real random thread
Plus be aware I have not played for years (any format) and as to fluff it will be a shot in the dark or a bolt round to the back of the head at least …….
Dave as to the airbrush I meant I want a new airbrush so I can achieve a better result Mine was a real basic one with no real adjustment to spray which really pissed me of as that was what I was after (don't buy from evil bay ) yours was given the results that I was more after achieving.
Vik you have been a real inspiration and encouragement to start a thread (all though I would call it bloody pushy ) and I have enjoyed your updates and rambling banter on what seems to be a daily basis so as to this I know pledge to go forth create, paint and archive so that one day I will be able to join the league of greats (rivet masters) and then maybe carry the banner of commitment

no need to thank me... it is all acording to the position of mine^^
and one thing further... i have never played so far a game that would count, have lots of unfinished projects, heck tons of untouched mini in my cupborads (yep, i have gone to the second volume now^^) and this thread is as random as it gets... so what was your point?^^

Yeah, we tend to do that. But once you get past the outer layer of oddness, there's... well... another layer of oddness, then a little layer of banter, with a third layer of oddness thrown in, then some humour, some more oddness, then some comradery, all around a core of green stuff, held together with rivets.
Kind of like a kinder egg, but with more layers. ...and more odd.
well there is hard talk atm going on about the casting idea... need a better design fist... seperate limbs and such...
at all do you have a preferrence on how i for now have created the lombs, joints and torso as well as the heads? you have seen different desgins already and for this idea it would be nice to have a sort of favorite choice that could help me decide...
if i read your comments shrike...thank you so very much... seems i ramble around like an old fart... what a bloddy bunch of friends have cluttered here...like in a snakes lair...
at alpha..i hope you become now a regular! the more madmen come together the merrier...^^
and dave...pastor vik...ohoh...i dunno if i want to live up to that... i do my rivets as i see fit, but i am a sinner at heart, just not in terms of riveting... so can you be a naughty boy and still be a pastor of the first church of riveting... is that possible?...maybe it should...booze, women, loitering and making good rivets wouold make the world a better place...food for thought...
Pastor Vik in all faiths i think it is a case of do as I say not as I do so you are fine sin away , you just punish those who sin not your self
I think you need to build a temple for ritual riveting pray …. I believe thats a job for the construction team I think they know who they are
Now I do feel we need a set of commandments at to what is expected of us followers of the rivettons we all need rules plus how we achieve enlightenment and how we earn our place in the league so that one day we can excel to greatness ……..
Pastor Vik in all faiths i think it is a case of do as I say not as I do so you are fine sin away , you just punish those who sin not your self
i see you had contact to some major religions already^^ seems you have seen the perfect job in the world...^^ doing it that way...there is no downside^^
temple...temple...well i would think someone needs to read that...an image of a certain person forms inside me head...^^
feel free to add commandments as you might see fit...that would also count in the leauge for something i am sure of... i stand with the high comand of riveteers on a very close relationship...^^

simply ignoring the last sentence.....
I am not worthy as I have only just started to learn the ways of the Riveters and therefore only a sheep being lead by thy shepherd , I feel the commandments are left to those known to the ways and therefore have the knowledge to lead and guide us to the correct path.
There is one who springs to mind the creator of foundations and walls the keeper of tombs they call him DAVE!!!!!! he will bring us the formation and dwellings of pray as it has been written in PC ,,,,,
As for ignoring the last quote I have no doubt LOL ……..
doubt is the path of going astray for those about to rivet...things...to things...^^
in a way he already teaches the ways of the riveting in his manmade temple...some unknown would call a garage...but a scaled temple...now i think this is a worthy project...
worthy... or not...that will be judged by rivetto alone...he who sits high on the I-beam in the sky...riveting our fates as he sees fit... we are just mere pieces of scrap metal, bended and twisted..only by staying true and focused to the ways of riveting we will be heated enough to be shaped into proper rivets in his grande scheme of riveting things...to things... and then we will be placed were needed most for maximum structural stability...if needed with a righteous smacking by his hammer...

and here comes freshly named Rapid...
he wields a fully independed powered and highly deadly gatlinggun...through his extra vice like steelgrip he is able to wield "her" without any further means of support... tall and deadly...here he comes:
thanks for watching kids... see you next episode...when it is time for...limb from limb...
Excellent work Vik, your puppy reminds me of the robot dog from the first battle star galactica series or maybe the puppy from the old Dr Who series.. I'm not sure which yet I have a mental picture in my head.
With your creation of this robot army are we to assume your mad scientist ways make you responsible for the creation of the Necrons and other similar robotic cyborgs in the future? Do you want Skynet to win?
That dog is so cute And so's the gatling gunner (not sure about the pose, but I don't think the pose would be easy to make with such a model so ignore me if this is the case ^^)
I'd love to see a group shot of this lot when the squad's done
at dave
many thanks mate!^^
gatling was made of a cap from a feltpen, a cap from a baking rum aroma bottle, then a curve of sprue and some PC rods...also for the front i used a thin thread of PC ...and lots of testors glue... for some reasons when facing softer plastic i use the testors and let it fully cure...then it holds quite well together... revell plastic glue would fall off...dunno...must be in the formula...
at shrike...
hae you seen the shotgunturret?... a gentlemen hound^^
the posing was a bit fiddly of the gunner...hopefully he will be cured tomorrow... i need to add some smaller items and then he is done...so full squad shot as is should happen without too much delay...
at jake...absolutly...i think some righteous smiting is in order...
at hmelrose... well no skynet for sure... but a lil squad of servicable robots never hurt...er...on second thought^^...
that dog fro m glactica even had fur...lol...nope that one was not what i used as referrence... i used mainly inspiration from jimmy neutron... and his dog (forgot the name...)

Definitely, because no good gig ends in "and we all went home early to get a good night's sleep"
Pimp my pooch he has been upgraded dam fine machine and mans best friend I think thats doubtful now lol…. Like the weapons add and radar ears nice …...
Love the gatlin gun nice job looks pretty nifty and can kick a punch … like that makes sense but you get my gist
Still no bow tie though Hmmm you need to rectify that even if you have to build a new one for it
I have actually never understood everyone's fascination with "Stairway to Heaven". It's a decent song, sure, but the Guitar's almost plebian in complexity compared to some classical guitar, albeit executed with mastery.

Not everyone likes the song primarily for the guitar. But when a person wants to learn to pay guitar, Stairway becomes one of those songs most people want to learn to play. The melody/hook appeals to people.

all i know is that seeing my dad play guitar growing up, and learning to myself, there is always 1 song you cant moraly play...

so as a example:
Vik - robot marine army
Fatty - Grots in power armor army
LDD - dude just make a thread already

ok fatty i consider using SM codex forthe robots... but for now i am not really convinced completely which one...
also sanity is so overrated^^
as for LDD... started a thread yet?^^ lol and that pic i will need definatly for referrence to make my own lewis gun... very helpful...shows how much detail is indeed needed to make that convincing look...in essence it isn´t that much...which surprised me in a way...
shrike...Definitely, because no good gig ends in "and we all went home early to get a good night's sleep"
that is such a cool line of yours...that made my day^^
at alphaomega...are you referring to your current amry project of the britanians? lol... but as long as everything here keeps you here we are satisfied^^
at RW...thank you sir...^^
at anvildude and the rest who had thoughts about casting the robots...well...
today i began to work on a project that might or might not lead to creating "bitz" to make a posable robot...i try to keep for now true the Mk I concept of rivetto...with some minor tweaks that needed to be done... on the following pics you can see almost two complete all PC robots...in the making of course... as i need to rethink the build and the components i need to make a full robot i built for now four sets of arms, four sets of legs ...the plan is to built one robot completly and while doing so getting the hang of things to make a freely posable robot kit... thus far i have kind of that achieved with the legs and will tomorrow invest time in the arms...
see and judge for yourself...:
hips and shoulder joints...i plan for now to keep thse seperate for better posing abilities... the set might be a bit special as it might need more parts to assemble than a guardsman or marine...
at alphaomega...are you referring to your current amry project of the britanians? lol... but as long as everything here keeps you here we are satisfied^^
Yes I am. And there are re-enforcements on the way this week so more puppetry madness (and maybe the conversion of a puppeteer to come too...)
But I do have to say that this Blog has helped keep me interested in wargaming, been reading even if I haven't posted, the banter, the homemade minis and the comradeship are pretty incredible
I may not rivet but I do like watching others do it
and i too realized i have no quote from you in my sif...unforgivable...and to be changed... but i fear this wont stay there for long.... whan you come up with something better i will update it^^
done!^^

thanks mate^^ a big compliment by you^^
if i was a bit better at GS i probably would have attempted something crazy as these puppets myself... i love them but atm i don´t have the funds to get them...but they are simply sweet lil chaps...and a puppeteer?...how...i like that idea... but shouldn´t this one be then substantial bigger than the bretonians?...
you truly ain´t seen nuffin yet... when the chop-it arrives there is no holding back then... for now the "bones" of legs and arms are not really precisley cut... that will change and production will double...heck, there will be no stopping.... i porbably could outbild resin casting then^^
i will measure them tomorrow... but they are a small bit taller than your average guardsmen... maybe i can make a comparrision shot witha termy, SM and a guardsman.. i think around 32mm...also it depend on the positioning of the legs and the hatwear...
Looks like your PC stock will be running low at this rate your on a rampage Nice job with the multi pose and good call on doing the joints separate will make it easier for lining up later and look more realistic.
Thats the problem when trying to do multi pose parts I did some torsos which I casted they were ok but slightly out so nothing matched properly bugged the hell out of me …….
This multi pose set you are producing what will consist of different heads, toros, legs, arms, hats, weapons ect and how many parts will you be manufacturing
Plus your guard have you stopped with them or are they still moving along slowly in the back ground ….. just noticed one in the back picture
Why do you think resin gives you cancer, I thought that was only if you sand it with out any mask
well i think it is unavoidable to to work with resin and not having to sand it now and then... and since i work in the living room...i coudl of course go into the cellar...but our neighbers look always as if i would butcher kids there when they see me in the cellar... and i am not a good planner so i skip planning for spontaneous hobby work... so i couldn´t make an all resin session in the cellar...
well shortly i have to invest into some more PC...that is for sure... need more rods and other shapes as well...also plain card too...^^
Thats the problem when trying to do multi pose parts I did some torsos which I casted they were ok but slightly out so nothing matched properly bugged the hell out of me …….

...totally with you... that´s why i have benn thinking about it for quite some time... actually i am atm not that satisfied...the feet, namly the ankles need a rework too...
good question... how many would be good for a full sprue? or should i do just a one mini sprue? but with so many posable limbs in parts to get a fully individual posable mini?...it is a conceptual question and i´d be thankful for a descriptive answer to that one...
and the IG...that is the true IG´s will see more work... probably when the effect of working with PC has run out a bit, paining IG´s will start again...(i might be disatracted a while longer tho as i plan to make a tank out of PC soon too^^)
Well, firstly you have to be careful disappearing into cellars it will get you a bad name and strange looks from your neighbours thats for sure … so for the mean time resin is on hold as for an option.
As for a sprue I would go with 1 maybe 2 torsos designs 5 heads hats as a separate option, arms 3 of each (left and right just incase) unless you are doing double handed weapons in which case 2 sets of them as well legs 3 sets of legs 4 if you want one kneeling.
Good I have been looking at your IG and I had done a few similar using the pistolers set which I dug out and have to say was keen to revisit and was hoping you were carrying on with yours as well.
i am looking forward to see your sprue.
and what is it with neighboors that think all sorts of stuff
heappens in cellars. I know my neighboor grows some plants in his cellar..... where neighboors come on we know every one in our block

Does this neighbour have a lot of visitors by any chance
i am currently stretching out my tendril to make my regular IG cadian footsloggers look more steampunky... rawson and i have been talking about some headswaps there...and jake is currently working on some new guns... so this is something i have to take into acount fro when going back to those minis... tho i still have some pistoliers heads that i want to use on some already put together guardsmen...
as for the sprue...who...that is quite a big list... for only two true robots that could be made... you have to see that all those arms and legs could be easily be made into full minis by just getting a small box as a body...that would be pretty unadvatageous for me...i would loose on much money^^ but in essence that is a good idea i would wish for my own needs^^
well it is a rather open cellar and lit by sunlight most of the time...so not really the place for any sinister schemes...^^and it is godawfully untidy^^ and cold these days too...
What kind of head swaps are you talking of ? as for the sprue I thought you were doing it for your self so you start to build a larger force quickly, however even for resale you still do 2 torso designs just enough in the pack to cover all arms or legs.
This way you can bring out an update sprue which relights the interest and encourages people to buy more of the first set …… we call it marketing after sales GW could learn that instead of running law suits all the time
LOL....well...i doubt that that would be a good career move...
a guy i knew back in school always played around with a lighter...whenever someone was getting on his nerves... he was a friendly guy...he just played the pyro...^^ well as much as i know anyway^^

that i ahve to reread tomorrow... i think that is an ineresting point there...
now i need some sleep...it is always so hard to get the key´s out of my nose when falling asleep at the computer...^^
Or you could just drag a large bin bag with a dummy in it down to the cellar and then punch it on the way quietly saying shut up then smile at your neighbours

Depends how much snow you're getting. My town is surrounded by hills so we don't get much snowfall, but it's a good few inches, which is more than normal.

Yes we seem to be getting a rather heavy full here at least 4 inches in the lower areas more where it has collected with the wind up to 6 inches or more, was just wondering as we were not really meant to get that much according to the weather HAH HAH LOL ….
