harlock movie looks spiffy
It does look good, and I like the tie ins to SBY with the type 99 space pistol in the scenes there, same type of pistol from Space Battleship Yamato. And I saw what you did there, SBY-2199 is plastered all over Japan, hard to miss one of the biggest shows in Japan with all the advertising the re-invisioning of that show has had, and I think we may see more with the new Harlock movie. Just placed an order a few hours ago for the Yamato itself in 1/1000 scale, if will be 33.3cm long when built.
I have to hand it to Bandai, they made the build of these models such that they are strongly built almost liek real ships with all the "bulkheads" that are part of the kits as compared to the old kits of the 1980's which were simpler, hollow shells and easy to break apart, just the small bits can break off, but the majority of these kits will take a pounding during a move far better than older kits.
I'm totally not following your blog any longer. My wife threatened me with divorce if I were to buy the Yamato fleet and you with those gorgeous ships are not helping .

Ooo walkers.
I am arguing with myself internally as to leave the AT-43 walkers as is, and explain the different pattern of camo, or just do my own camo and decal them as the other units have been, and maintain unity of theme?
Leave them as is for now, they are the remnants of a destroyed guard army that have recently been combined into your platoons. The camouflage they have will get repainted to match yours, the request paperwork is just tied up in imperial red tape.

Odd thing is, they really did have multiple decked version of real carrier5s in the 1930's look it up on wikipedia, apparently they did try it, then went for the mono deck any way.
So, here is the other carrier, the Polmeria, but I call it "star-fish" it has the big cannon in the center. the clear yellow plastic needed a few coats of white paint behind it.

hey mate... i just wanted to say hello after a long (in my view too long) hiatus...
and that i am eager to see some heroic scaled models done by you...all these starships...tstststs the last ones i don´t even pretend to understand... they look way more alien to me that is good for my health
@Theo: Size matters when placing things on a display shelf!
@Vik: no worries, once I am done painting the carriers, I have a lot of Amexadian soldiers to paint, great coat heavy weapons to build and paint, a company of Kruegerian elites to build and paint and their titan as well.
@Dr.H; It is a homage to the old German planes, DWG-229 LOL! Ho-229?? The space stuka is easily also likely to replace the DBG with Ju for the 87, all the Gamillon planes are using German WW-II numbers with different letters in front
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh wait! I still have 3 fighter kits and the Yamato to build!
Ahh, I didn't really look at your numbering of it closely and I didn't know the designation of the German flying wing so it didn't ring any bells anyway. It's always been the flying wing to me...
The space-stuka also looks cool, as did what that is obviously a homage to.
And the comparison between AT-43 and GW walkers, Dotch Yaga is like a 4 legged Leman Russ and very deadly. I just am thinking to paint it to match the rest of the armored fighting vehicles of my forces.

er....wow mate... you are sure rolling the dice now...one of these days i need to invest in dropper bottles instead of pots... really... that is the future...
the GW pots are 12ml for 4bucks USD, these are 17ml for less than that, so more paint for less money, a little less, but still, less money for more paint that will last me longer. I can now toss the GW colors that have gone clumpy and will not water down any longer.
i think you will do great out of this new paint range... blending will be so much easier... out of pot painters like me never really get donw that lane so good and easy...
and well... of course almost any range is cheaper and more inteligent than that of GW...but that goes without saying
Envious of the paint set for sure. I'm not sold on the droppers as I always squirt out more than I'm going to use.....that just sounds wrong for some reason .
The dropper bottles allow me ot do one or more drops on the pallet, add water to the brush and see how thin or thick coat I want to apply, much more control of the paint than GW pots where you dip the brush, an have to worry about over dipping, and then wiping excess off on the lip of the pot, which may dry and not regain liquid status, etc.
Another advantage is the pinhole opening which helps keep the paint from drying out. I got one from 2009 as a sample from my old Oregon FLGS which still is liquid, and the older paints Dave sent with the plastic emergency drop he maileed me and I have no idea how long he had the paints but they too are still viable whereas the GW paints seem to harden up in a short time if you do not use them fast enough, worse if partly used. :(
And for 3.29 a bottle of 17ml compared to 4.00 a 12ml bottle of paint from GW one comes out ahead buying these dropper bottles if you are doing the hand brush methods like me, the HD series can be used in airbrushes they say,
Neat new paint range. Yes the good old bottle dilemma. If GW paints came in dropper bottles I wonder how the argument would change. I pour mine (GW) into empty dropper bottles. I could just switch ranges, but i already have 80%~ of gw's its cheaper to just replace what I run out of.
Well with new paints, I expect new painted models.
Theophony wrote: I paint from the pots I also lick my brushes which caused me to glue a brush to my tongue a few weeks ago I really need to change that habit.
I found their Pheonix red dries as close to the color of the plastic of the red carrier to be a more perfect match than wazdakka red, I find this as awesome sauce!
More work is don on the long red carrier, I gave it the flight deck and have the Battleship beef up option nearby for the "in case" and used the 1/1000 scale DWG-229s for what normal flight ops would look like besides the odd mission of carrying the drill bomber DBG-88.
Hmmmm, I like that white flying saucer now very much! If you ever make eldar then this should be your scheme!!!
The carrier looks really cool. I wonder if you could paint those lines on the flight deck glowing? That be amazing I bet...
@Vik: I decided that paint would be vbrighter than the grey decals that came with the carrier kit. That flying saucer is actually the detached bridge for this beasty;
73cm of superdreadnought class warship.
@Theo: Got that right! as you can see there is a central elevator and 2 side elevators for the carrier.
@Dave: Thank you Dave! that ios so far the longest of the ships I have collected, the starfish of doom carrier is 383mm to the red 390mm total length.
And to order expanded army carriers for the minis I am making and painting. I have new Heavy weapons teams for the great coats, I have the Amexadians from Defiance to paint, and the platoon of Eisenkern, err, Kruegerians and their heavy weapons and the Leviathan Crusader to build and paint. The AT-43 and Dust stuff I am adding as well.
cormadepanda wrote: sweet jesus shas you been busy! best of luck, and that super dreadnought class looks exciting.

Oh yeah, another drop arrived today, the Factories across the Konfederacy have been very busy Komrades! the Khadrovian Iron Guard has new armored assets, new walker assets and now some air assets as you will soon see.
Sad that AT-43 is OOP due to Rackham not staying alive, or selling the IP to an active company, so more for the Khadrovian Highland Tundra camo pattern have arrived.

[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] Hard to believe that they each are spawned by the same plastic model maker, the Great coats are purely WGF, and the others are also made by WGF for DFG and the differences in design do show through like night versus day
THe difference is all in the design. Mark from DFG is a designer, the other guys make models for war games. Just like the Leviathans, Mark designs and engineers the pieces to be functional (even though they are scifi). Where the other guys make guns with barrels, ammo hoppers and a stand, mark looks into recoil and how the crew will need to be deployed to design the weapon system. Not sure how much technology goes into marks work, but It looks so much more functional.
Nice dump.
Lots of nice walkers.
I thought, when you talked about them before, that the AT-43 things were for Dust. Now I see the boxes, they are different companies.

Well, Mark has won me over! I will buy his "Protectorate" troops when eh gets to making them. The designs so fit my Konfederacy and will be the latest of Khadrovian gov't design protective uniforms and weapons. The Cadian/Tau influenced uniforms will be older units, but new uniforms will be the platoons of the Protectorate style ashanka helms and masks

Theophony wrote:Wasn't AT-43 designed by the same guy who does dust? That's why they look so similar.
They were kind of competing, and the release of the Dust stuff made Rackham change th game from Alternate Timeline 1943 to After Trauma 43 and out in space setting where the descendants of space colonists became the UNA, Red Blok and ONI, the Therians were what became of the folks who remained on and developed on old Earth and came seeking out to make the big change to all life in space. Dust stayed firmly in Weird War-II and beyond.

And more BT-walkers making 4 total of that design in my collection
[/img] [/img]
On a Huge hill that would be a challenge for a healthy man let alone one with all my health problems Comrade, so the models help me be busy as I while away the days stuck here, and I have to fix my license so that I might be able to get about on my own some and hit the game store a few miles away by car.
So, walkers got finished from Hasslefree, very easy to assemble. I did some mods and have made them specialized compared to the all rounders last time. One is for anti troops and light armor
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
I'm glad your grabbing all these kits, I've looked at most of them, but its always great to get a customers pics to see the imperfect parts that are sent out. Interested in seeing that jeep done
Dr H wrote:If you live on a hill it's easy to get out.
It's difficult to get back home afterwards though.
Yep, but I have tried downhill walking, painful very tiring to go back up as it is a 9 degree incline that scares some of our delivery drivers from usps and fed ex and UPS
Theophony wrote:I'm glad your grabbing all these kits, I've looked at most of them, but its always great to get a customers pics to see the imperfect parts that are sent out. Interested in seeing that jeep done
That buggy is badass! But it needs an autocannon or Heavy Stubber up top! Hasslefree makes some great stuff don't they? Curse these Damn badass British mini companies!! I also like how you varied the camo markings on each walker. Much better than the old US Cold War woodland scheme..they went to great trouble to camo all the tanks exactly alike.

Yep, I personally feel that if the tanks all look exact, or in this case walkers, well, a very bland and boring army it would be!
Theophony wrote:That's the jeep, any other angles would be great
I do have a side on view as well. It came with a pintle mounted weapon of more a rifle size quality

Agents afoot as well. These two take their work very seriously rooting out Heretics, muties and other nasties of the ruinous powers as well as Xeno interference.

With abhuman agents

Dealing with crazy heretics!

Major heretic here, and based on her good looks we can figure which of the Gods of Chaos she has fallen sway to, or two?

I have some .50 cals from a Tamiya 1/35 kit that I think would fit nicely there. If you have some try them, they'll look weedy compared to GW but everybody knows that GW are compensating for something in their weapons

M.
Compensating for lack of quality
The jeep is cool, thanks for that pic, can't wait to see you paint it up
I envy you for all these nice new suplies, but not for howyou got them...
The painted walkers are sweet, period! Those ssquiggly lines again made such a unique look, you certainly mastered this camo!
Sorry to get here so late...but I sure got me an eyefull of eyecandy and no mistake!

Thanks Vik, heck of a way to get them i know.
Now get ready for more such eyecandy, the squigglies have taken over!
And here is the KV-33 "Stalin" with twin linked Vanquisher cannons

You know that drop walker is definitely not a worshiper of KHORNE because he has a Splatter shield on the chainfist , he must be a prissy little ultramarine or something

I have the some off-whites that will make for good belly colors for these flying armored beasts.
Blue rotors? Will they get yellow tips? Because all helicopters have yellow tips on their blades, so you know just how close you can get to them without getting a free hair-cut...
Also to the belly colours. Will the blades get the same treatment, I've seen that done too?

Civilian rotor blades get the yellow stripe/tips as most folks can't be counted on to duck
Theophony wrote:No yellow tips if your dumb enough to get close to a rotating helicopter without ducking low then you get the special haircut to prove it.
They look great in your camo scheme. Can't wait to see the leviathan dressed up
He gets a bigger version of the storm trooper camo
shasolenzabi wrote: Civilian rotor blades get the yellow stripe/tips as most folks can't be counted on to duck
I was going to come back and say that most of my model helicopters have them, but as it turns out, of the ones that aren't packed away it's only the Bell 47 MASH and the Apache that have yellow tips.
However, you go looking for Apaches on google and I only saw one picture where it had yellow tips on. Must be an old thing then... *shrugs*

those heli´s look great... but tell me... why white bellies? why not grey ones? i thought aircraft usually gets them bellies painted grey as the sky is rather more like grey than an off white?
Especially liking the vanquisher and the spider, and your pics of the helis have convinced me, I've been toying with the idea of grabbing one of those for a while, nice to see more pics of them.
Dr H wrote:Lots of progress. Liking the nearly white undersides of the choppers.

Viktor von Domm wrote:those heli´s look great... but tell me... why white bellies? why not grey ones? i thought aircraft usually gets them bellies painted grey as the sky is rather more like grey than an off white?
1980's Soviet Helicopter used a off white as to why? only the Soviet Airforce knows
So, I was having trouble with the fact that Captain Isseki (Not Batou) had normal looking eyes, so I did some drilling once I found the white round stock plastic that fit the bill and now he looks more like he ought to
[/img] [/img]
The Major, which Dr.H has been anticipating wildly! Based on all we know, the one person the Mad scientist will wish to avoid having anywhere near his labs due to her innate badassery and force of her will
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Touch ups with fine brush needed, yes, but hey, worth it as I have top notch agents here now.
Good job on the eyes too, that is the only proper way.
The Scientist would be very interested by the Major (I have plans for Tomliand Bodyguards for him ). And of course there's her extra curricular activities to consider...
But yes, she would be the one person to completely scupper all his plans...

Well, she is a one woman wrecking crew, worse when she has her whole team in support of wrecking jobs! Being an Inquisitorial agent as she is for me, her Adamantium will is likely to be the bane of many heretics.
Viktor von Domm wrote:those eyes i have to agree are brilliant!!!
I have 2 colors for the eyes, the sides will be chainmail and the lenses Mithril Silver for the extra shiny!
Major will get her signature red eyes and purple hair as per S.A.C. In the first movie she had black hair and ice colored irisies
Yep, you don't mess with someone that can, not only hack her way through pretty much any computer firewall, beat the hell out of any number of martial art programmed robots, but can (just about) pull the hatch off a tank!!!
In the manga, she can change the length and colour of her hair at will (and has clothes that do the same). As well as using many alternate bodies stored in safe houses.
Dr H wrote: Yep, you don't mess with someone that can, not only hack her way through pretty much any computer firewall, beat the hell out of any number of martial art programmed robots, but can (just about) pull the hatch off a tank!!!

She has also shown a propensity in other movies to jump and ghost all through the cyber-net at will. How do you fight someone with so much at her beck and call and skills, and abilities? try to find her? in cyber space she chameleons more than her cyber bodies! In real world, all those bodies are not all the same build, she has even gone to child bodies and snuck about unnoticed!
If caught by your character Doc, I dare say she is so scary good at what she does that depending on how much she wanted to study him, would show if she took 15mins to 24hrs to dismantle his entire set up as she has in the past shown the ability to wreck large facilities or short out some dude's personal head ware. Why else would Batou refer to her from their shared past as Queen Kong?
There's a great bit in one of the manga where Batou interrupts some of her "recreation" time and she hacks his arm and punches him in the face with his own fist (and he's supposed to be almost as good a hacker as she is...).

They used it in the anime, possibly 2nd gig she made him feel stupid as they were discussing why hekept using weight lift equipment when his battle frame was already tweaked to top strength, just he was in habit mode from his old human body. He chided her for not getting a male frame and she was showing how she did not need to switch frames as she was more comfortable in her female battleframe, and hacked his arm and upper cut himself, he was surprised and a bit mad.
Great work shaso the eyes are wonderful. Also I will have to watch GITS now, I have the original on VHS in the garage, afraid I haven't done too much anime since I got married. My wife is not into cartoons
@Cam; I had to grab them as I do enjoy that anime.
@Dr.H: I am using online screencaps for color references hehehe!
@Theo; Oh you can also sometimes catch it on Cartoon Networks, late nite adult swim or Saturday is their anime schedule and this show is a major rocker or was.
@Vik; The Major is the gal with the purple hair, the boss of the good captain in the fur lined coat., LOL!

Liking the Panzer Fausts and the heavy weapons (especially the 3-barrelled mortar thing).
Is the bloke with the binoculars in that last heavy weapon team looking very intently at the back of the weapon, or can he see over it?
Yep Doc, he can see just over the gunshield of the quad Heavy Stubber, the trilauncher mortar will be as much a pain as a Thudd gun to my foes as well the tank schrecker cannon
Now for the latest in skin work paints
So, yes, of course there are the massive abhumans to worry about, use of them for cannon fodder and breaking enemy lines is approved to help thin their numbers in a productive manner, hence the largest make good shock troops, provided that they are pointed in the right direction, allowing their enthusiasm for violence and bloodshed as well as their stomachs to be indulged. They do grasp the idea of grenades and guns, but still have a love for blunt weapons
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
With a squad leader giving simple directions

Skin is based in Reaper olive green with a dry brush of pale olive patched with GW Vomit brown and washed in Thrakka Green
interesting way to paint the muties skin...a wash more would do them good methinks...
and holy...how many of these eisenkern troops did you get?...interesting poses... many variations... does goepinger wield a luger?...and since i have shot with the MG3...always funny when they try to tell us you can shoot with a twelve kilo weapon standing upright as opposed t it´s inteded use to do it kneeling or lying flat on your tummy ...rambo is never far from any of us , eh?

They will have another wash, just have to let the 1st layer dry.
I got the command parts, 40 troopers and 9 heavy weapon teams, I will have 3 x Tri-mortar, 3 x Quad Stubbers, and 3 x anti-tank cannons, so a command squad will leave me with a small Grenadier team as well.5 men each. Goeppinger is wielding the pistol that is similar to a Luger for the army, the Walther-Krupp L-50 pistol. I owned a G-3 once, and it was a weapon I could fire one handed if need be, but is best serve for accuracy held in both hands as most of the men are shown posed. Except the man looking for a grenade worthy home!
The main rifles are Borsig-Rheinmetal K-43 rifles with ammo drums
The one specialist is wielding a Heckler-Ruger G-9 SMG with underslung grenade launcher along with his Panzerfaust
The other specialist is dual wielding G-9's as a practitioner of a gun based form of martial arts.
Whoa...now the khardovian army is next to being unstoppable...a titan ...we re all doomed now!
My son is staying today at home...kindergarten closed and he saw the leviathan...he went wow
But tell me, what are those nasty holes in the neck for???
I am torn between ordering more marines, starting my gay knights, and ordering more dreamforge stuff including mini leviathans (gay dreadknights) or even a full scale mortis your stuff isn't making it any easier.
I have a full light kit and battery that will make my Leviathan all lit up for battles. My route is blue eyes, red at the exhausts, green or yellow for the lamp targeter for the head , the other lights may be running lights as most vehicles have some.
Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW, this guy is already turning out to have heft to his parts alone, let alone all asssembled! Oh what hast though wrought Dreamforge?
The thing is vik, I'm the one that got him to order the leviathan, and the lights . Well like they say "Paybacks a "
Amazing how it all feeds back upon itself eh!?
Now for the 3rd squad under Sgt Steiner, they prefer compact weapons for close in spaces and close quarter battle, of course a few anti-tank grenades couldn't hurt. [/img] [/img] [/img]
Sgt Steiner [/img]
Command squad under Lt. Rommel [/img]
Comms and weaponeer [/img]
Medic and 2nd weaponeer [/img]
With his hat at a rakish angle, Lt. Rommel shows off his "Gun-fu" [/img]
Matched set of Leviathan guns, and yes the barrels spin [/img] [/img]
achem... i just leave this here for you to decide why i left it here...ok?...
the comm guy look really good... it is the current strongest design in this range in my view... such equipment and posing is lacking mostly in other ranges...
and those two gatling arms... i would just grab them and make lil engine noises before i let loose the hounds of hell....
Viktor von Domm wrote: ye can never go wrong with that name serious badassery taking place now^^
Rommel was a man amongst men, officer, gentleman, hero who protected his family over saving his own hide as others might have. And kicked major backside in 2 wars.
The mules are awesome. They can be driven by remote, or given basic drone functions. Load them with ammo and send them to the front lines. The front lines load the wounded on and send them back. They can convoy too
well... to be honest... i really think those mules look silly...( i know with such a statement i am not making any friends... but my optical tastebuds just all feel sick whenever i have to look at these...)
Leave them their, just pain them as weld joins. fine khardovian craftsmanship that can't handle the pressure of the rof and force, and needs constant repair.
I already scraped a knife across the mold lines, and it made them look like they are bigger than they are, but any left will get some "padding" and look more like heavy repair welds as Theo suggested.
Theo, you have Miniatures Market down the road, so, for you temptation is too close, me, I have to order such minis and wait for the shipments to arrive.
Between the 40 troopers+command set, and 3 x heavy weapon teams I have 67 new soldiers and 3 servo bots And the Crusader
I also intend to get me some armed "Bricks" from Puppets War and some armored trucks from Old Crow for more transport ability. Hannomags when they come out for retail at last for the stormtroopers
About a week before we moved here miniature market moved and. Different lgs took their spot. They moved to an industrial complex and took over two warehouses. Supposedly they bought out and filled two more in the same area. Now they are buying the location near me which will have 4x the salesfloor and a plastic crack warehouse to rival.....nobody as nobody is hat stinking big. I'm going to try and drive by it and take pics of before and after . I like ordering from Neil at thewarstore, but the nearness means I don't pay shipping but I do pay taxes.

Closest thing I have near me is the Keep in Princeton, WV a small flgs. To have such a massive warehousing of the plastic crack would overload me!
i think it is my only salvation that anything hobby plastic involves me driving with public transport to some location some would call...well...lesser districts in my town...so that keeps me a tad away from spending there too much money... and everything miniature related... well let me put it that way... i woudn´t even know where by foot or car i would be able to get me leviathan...so i am safe...for now
I think I'll wait for the guard book to come out next year then go nuts on dreamforge.
@vik, I think I've seen Battlefield Berlin is a stockist for dreamforge.
I got o believe that they will still have troops. With the disappearance of finecast and metals I can see them releasing a plastic mordian, tallarn, or steel legion sprue set. But I think they are just about tanked out. I know there's still a need for a plastic hydra, and a couple variants, but really new ground there to play unless they make a mid sized SUV for the troops.
Likely the rumor of plastic stormtroopers with accessories will occur,,,,,5men a box though, with the new paradigm of base squad sized box sets like the 5 necrons or marines or such per boxes
Players have been wanting plastic stormtroopers as long as they were wanting plastic great coats, my first discussions of several modified crisis suits were on their old site in 2000, took them till 2002/3 to have forgeworld make my ideas real, XV-81/84 and 89, now the 89 idea is part of the add ons for a suit, and the idea of a larger, more hard point command option suit finally comes about as It was also discussed by myself and others as was a collaborative idea for a fast attack light vehicle which got split into the tetra and piranha. The point is anything GW gets from the player/fanbase seems to take them years to finally come to grips and work on making a model of the things. Likely a debate has been should they look like the original swat like mask wearing ones? or the Kasrkin looking ones?
This
or this
or go with several design styles and make money off the results? there are fans of either design. Also, what will be the optional parts?
There are 80-fething -billion Space Marine options in plastic, and 2 for Guard.
Strategically, Storm Troopers are going to be one of your opponents first targets (right after your HQ and Artillery) no matter how you play, they DO cause brown stains even in power armor. I just want them to go out in style and buy me a few turns to try and take an objective. Every Marine player's weakness is their ego and overconfidence in their units.
well... to be honest... why should GW do plastic soldiers for IG anyways? look at mad robot for valhalan, or the plethora of praetorian look alike producers...tallarn is probably due soon from someone too... i think GW over the years has dug it´s own grave... and probably rightly so... i bet it will be an overpriced flyer and a new tank... and that´s that...
LOL...told my wife just the other hour i will need some more mecharite red soon...tho... it won´t be in a pot anymore... this will be the first dropper bottle one from another range ...see GW...?
dsteingass wrote: Yes, there were, and they had exactly 1 pose and were all British ww2 commando-looking clones.
Why should they? Because they have gotten exactly $0.00 from Dave in 2013 and they need my money to feed Mat Ward's nurgle babies.
If mat ward writes the codex, then everystormtrooper will aspire to be a ultramarine tactical man He got away with some of the worst in 40k history. I haven't even bought any of the new marine stuff and I was going to build my chapter to the full extent.
My marines know what a good kickings all about because of the nids. It's humbling to know that even though you are a genetically engineered super soldier, you can still be digested by a cockroach.
Well, in 2000, I got into the Tau and created a DiY sept named Kal' Dath it's military under the guidance of Shas' O Len' Z' Abi or as the Imperium knew Shas' O Lenzabi a Tau commander who had sewn discord and fear amongst the regional imperial governors with his lightning strikes of mechanized and gunline force applications.
