Thanks Cam! so you like the Heckler-Rheinmetal HR-91Ausf-B rifles and the Mauser Model-66 Assault Cannon, the Captain is using a Walther & Schmeiser 70 Bolt pistol of .50cal He is also using the Model 99 variable timer grenade, Nicknamed a "Potato Masher" for the Frag red top is Krak(I will paint the red tops for the Krak model. The earlier guys in the day armor have the Heckler-Rheinmetal HR-91Ausf-A rifles.

I never was a fan of those figs, but you paint scheme helps them out lot. I never could get into he game, seemed they took all of the GW ideas and pushed them further to the extreme of what I disliked. I almost bought some of he Japanese guys from them, but heard they closed up shop a week earlier, so i Bought more GW instead.
Yeah, some of the old figs of the 1990's were goofy looking, depended on the sculptors, but the 2nd edition Bauhaus minis were awesome. Psycho ex-roommate tossed all 52 minis I had of them out.
oh yeah... those manufactorers names sure made me smile^^
you certainly know your way around the german guns and gear producers i would (if you have it) use a tiny drop of wash in the eyes... a blue one... i think the rim of the goggles could be then a bit smoother... otherwise that is a fine looking troop!
also... for the more old school warrior look you could have tossed some wooden stocks in the mix... some brown would be a nice spotcolor for these...?
I need to color the breather boxes and their lights, highlight the gloves, and hoses. The R&H-91's seem to bne extruded polymers no shoulder stocks, more a paratrooper style, the shotgun I will black the shoulder buffer though. I will see if some black wash will help the rims of the lenses
These guys are turning out very nice , I almost miss the red on the Gatling though, kind of gave him a little character, heavy weapon guy who likes to use his gun to bash people too .

Well, maybe some reddish brown splotches may turn up, as blood does that when dry.

I still prefer the red, showing he recently went berserk and smashed the opponent besides, where would you draw the line between mud and dried blood?
Love the assault gunner looks like he cut a hole in the center of someone while firing, then shoved the barrel through the hole to shoot up the next rank .
@Cam, Yep, just needed that touch to be a force to be reckoned with, well at lest in my short story they will be, game and dice likely have other plans!
@Vik, that was a 2nd coat of the darkest wash I have left. That's as dulled down as the metal is getting.

Yeah, the T-storm cooled us down and I slept till now. College paper to write and then back to other stuff!
Yep, now waiting on the plagiarism checker to get done with my paper, then I can post it, and get some credit as the heat has had me unwilling to do it, and then falling asleep as the heat is prone to make me do.
University Of Phoenix Library has a Plagiarism checker for making sure credit for source material is given, present teacher though my 0% meant I was not quoting or anything, but I tend to take what is said, make the words into my own, and cite the sources hence the good scores, anything over 5% gets you in possible academic trouble.

Oh the next class has more stringent plagiarism rules. last mandatory class, then I have to finish with some "electives" but I need to get back onto the paint and stuff soon!
Sorry, been doing many things, getting work for schooling done, and am now free to once more ply my skills at working my minis. Meanwhile a quick fix is that I added a marking to the Marauders as they are now as most Vets, Diamonds amongst the soldiers.
"Melt" uses an arm with a bandage wrap, and I want to make it look like blood seeped thru and that it is less than a fresh bandage.....Hmmmmm, suggestions guys?
Dried blood has a brownish tint to it, but it's still red. Perhaps start with gory red and add a bit of brown? or a brown wash over red?
And then don't forget dirt that sticks to the edges of dirty band-aids
I would do a dark brown stain first in a sort of "eye" shape and then do a smaller red one inside that and then a little dilute black in the middle of that to make it look dark in the middle. (that is actually what I just did on my table).
Well, I have done the applied tricks and mixed red and brown for a dried blood effect, I added the pic here may not be sharp, but to show the color of the blood stain.
[/img]
A bit clearer

With the dirt added

I added the brownish washes, I did however leave a "clean" patch near the ripped shirt sleeve as it made sense to leave that in that condition.
[/img]
ieek... if it smells as bad as it looks... then that arm probably has to come off good work mate... i bet he could be getting his amputation on the docs table, eh?^^
also...on the subject of blood shed... i drilled my palm today... thankfully only with a 1.5mm drill bit... and i missed any vital parts..."pheeeww"
Heh! battlefield dressings that get dirty, well a fresh one from the medic and of course use of his cleansing powder in his personal kit from the Quartermaster(he may of course want to check the use by date) and he will be alright, of course the loss of the arm may mean the replacement by a cyber arm of course.
"Due to the injury you have received while valiantly holding the line, we have decided that you are due a promotion to the rank of front line fighter grade 2. Please leave you side arm, bullet proof vest and helmet with the supply officer and report to the nearest meat grinder. To ensure proper recording of future valiant acts swallow your dog tags. You will be honored by the imperium."
@Dr.H; Exactly, is just a battle field dirt thing, no green involved to show it is a normal, "clean" dirt. And that Melt bleeds like a stuck pig when wounded!

But yeah., I have been able o watch 1-22 of Yamato/Starblazers 2199
The models are the old 1980's Gamilon so small it will be a destroyer aka escort class
the two in the box set are the heavy cruiser and high speed light cruiser, they will also have a reflex gun satellite as an extra.
so, 150mm for the little guy
240mm for the light
270mm for the heavy or bigger version.
they are releasing a battlecruiser at 283mm long withthe 144mm space sub.

Okay, your patience is rewarded! here is what Rat does, before a battle, he makes a new pointed sharp object to attach to a stick or metal rod, and then makes a simple flag and inserts it into the melta barrel, and it is yes, a corny joke, but Rat likes jokes both corny and sublime to also practical, such as one time emptying out the fuel tank of a general's staff car and replacing the promethium with the general's 18yr old Amasec! A whole case of the stuff!, well except one bottle he brought back to the ready room for the lads to share as he told of his exploit! The general in question never learned who did the deed, and was at first wondering why his personal staff car smelled like Amasec being distilled.

I unpacked a box which is part of the one thing peeps have not had a chance to view, my work on a unusual Chaos army. The massive armored troops coming thru the portal in my story along with the Daemons? I may have used the last edition codex for these but they are not exactly space marines who have been exposed to the warp.
Meet for now K' ah-Tes-Rahk war leader of the Kraal' q Dominion, the old owners of the sector of space the other races are living in. Their ancient ruins and monuments are scattered through out the "Pearl Strand " sector.

These reptiles went the route before humans of worship of the dark gods
[/img]
Their colorations of their skin denote their initial affiliations of the Gods, their armor denotes where they have been walking along their spiral path to ascending to their own power.
[/img]
They have starships laying about that have been only viewed as massive hills they have sat so long waiting for these dark masters to return to start them back up
[/img]
The weapons they bear look primitive at first, until they hurl the energy of the warp making them the equivalent of any present day weapon with the added bonus of also being close combat weapons.

Galorn wrote: They look pretty good. The pictures make the m look very monotone. If there is shading it isn't really comng through.
Two factors involved as I did shade them, I have odd eyes in that I can actually see gradient subtleties past what most other guys can see as males actually have varying degrees of colorblindness so while I easily detect the edges where I used a lighter shade fo red or purple, I tend to forget others may not catch it.
The other factor is the flash can "bleach" out colors as it is so overwhelming, so I took some unflashed pics. the downside is more shadows

erm... from what details do we recognize that these are ladies???...
slaanesh looks the furthest in completion... but the rest is rather early WIP, right?
@Vik: the Reptus line has it listed as females, the only clue is the wild back scales that protect the neck and head. Yes, Slaanesh one is further along, I got interrupted on the other two.
So, with the remake and retelling of Starblazers/Yamato 2199, I got nostalgic when I ordered a kit and added the old 1980's kist of the Gamilon ship, the proportions seem comical as the tiny ship has almost the same sized barrels for it's turrets as the new 1/1000 scale kits and the bridge is almost the same height though more cramped looking if used in that scale as a 120meter long patrol ship.
But here are pics that will show major differences that have taken place from then to now.
Original kit
[/img]
Size difference between kit boxes
[/img]
[/img]
HUGE differences!
[/img]
Nostalgia kit built, and paint on the ramming blade, and it has a 60mm companion, a scout ship.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
Next to the first segment of the 2199 heavy cruiser version! HUGE!!!
[/img]
Nostalgia next to sections 1 & 2 of the 2199 version, and already dwarfed!
[/img]
3rd section as shows the parts slide together and this model is bulkheaded! double bulkheaded! it would put shame to the Titanic!
[/img]
More to come of this new kit as there are 2 cruisers and a satellite in the bigger box set.
On the ladies I think you need to do a dark wash on the green one to bring out details on the wings especially. the blue one could use it as well, otherwise they look good for female lizard deamons
Theophony wrote:On the ladies I think you need to do a dark wash on the green one to bring out details on the wings especially. the blue one could use it as well, otherwise they look good for female lizard deamons
I have azurman blue for the Tzeentch one, and Thrakka Green for the Nurgle one.

More close to Tau. There are actual camoed ships like that with other colors used in the show, I have seen them in some episodes. Even a battleship, with a single white camo stripe., they have the standard plain green, and blue for the Imperial Guard, they are not nice at all.
Oddly enough, looking at the size fo the bores of the turrets on the little version from the 1980's the things seem almost as big as the updated ship's turret weapons! except the side blister cannons, they stay small looking in comparison.
[/img]

Camkierhi wrote: Loving the ships, like your camo especially, great job. Nice work on the glow for the engines too.
Thanks Cam, I went back to the show a few times for that glow color for the engines. Camo was in the show and in pictures that others painted their models of these cruisers in.
Plain greens and camo for fleets of the Gamilon forces, Blue is just for the Leader and the Imperial Guard since blue is the color of the leading Gamilon race, yes, even in space there is racism. Guy in charge of the Imperial Guard of Gamilon is a major jerk, and yet it works for making him the right character to hate. The new version of Dessler seems to be a bit insane, but he has been Emperor of the Gamilons for 103years.

I have absolutely no frame of reference from the Anime, but DAMN those look great Shaso! If these designs were from the 70s..I can clearly see how it influenced a LOT of 80s and beyond stuff.
Hey Dave, I sat through these, they are subbed, so some reading is needed the first time or so, but the styling is awesome, I liked the original, but now that I am no longer a 14yr old, the dialogue in English seems corny on Starblazers.
New 2199 is more serious
This website has episodes 1-22
http://www.animeplus.tv/uchuu-senkan-yamato-2199-anime
But the small Nostalgia kit is what the original looked like, and the bigger stretched version is influenced by it. the original Gamilons were cool designs, but rare and hard to find, and compared to today's work, very 1970's cartoon like.
These remakes are amazingly detailed and like a real ship, building the Kelkapia reminded me of when I built a 700scale or so model of the German cruiser Blucher

Kelkapia High Speed Cruiser(HSC) has 4 x torpedoes in the lower chin, 6 x torps on the hull forward in a grouping, and 2 x torps to the rear, 2 x more blister launchers for bigger torps, a aft firing missile battery which fires 6 missiles, and has 2 upper hull and 1 lower hull particle beam turrets with three barrels each.
Destoria Heavy Cruiser sits with 4 x torpedoes in the chin, 4 x torpedoes aft, 4 x wing mounted cannons fixed forwards, 3 x triple barreled turrets upper hull, 1 x triple barreled turret lower hull. and 2 barbettes on the side hulls with triple beam cannons forward and aft.
And kits always go fast for me, scratch builds take longer as there is a lot of thinking and effort to them.

With my legs, I am more likely to get a smaller vehicle, but it would still be the Troop Transport taking my armies for games for the most part. IG is in roughly 4 containers, so I would need such for Apocalypse games, Tau are also in another 3 containers, Orks in a duffle bag, Necrons are still small enough a force for 1-2 boxes or 1 army transport. My SM are 2 containers worth
Oh yeah, gonna buy reaper paints from now on, 4bucks for GW pots is now just making collectors look dumb! I know Tom Kirby is looking to retire with a galleon's worth of wealth, but this is too much!!! I get paint in the eyedropper bottle, and it will last longer if I am not using it, for 3.29 a 1/2 oz bottle, the GW paints are what a .4 or 1/4 oz bottle for 4dollars is just insane!
dsteingass wrote: I prefer the thinness of the airbrush paints even for brush-painting.
With my pallet, I have the control over the eyedropper paints to thin or leave as thick as need be the paints. Reaper says also that their stuff is compatible with hand or air brushes, which is pretty darn flexible.
dsteingass wrote: I prefer the thinness of the airbrush paints even for brush-painting.
I've actually gotten bite by the painting bug because I mixed all of one color of my paints to use in the airbrush, then had leftovers. It goes o much smoother.
Looks about right for a painting table. But what is this strange word you used?....organ-ized, is that lumping them in groups roughl the same Olof as organs?

I still have yet to finish the other walkers in the set, and the soldiers as the set was the basic primer only version with the decals already on the walkers, so I will be careful around those parts.

I think there are probably smaller parts on the same sprue that are similar, so they mold different colors to make sure widget 12 goes where it's supposed to instead of widget 21.

Actually, it is quite common in Bandai mold making to make colored plastic for the areas where the paint would go of that color, so that some bulders who do not wish to paint just have to do a wash or inking of the detail lines and vents, then add decals, or, to have a base color for paint to go onto as they have the primerless needed specialty paints from the company Gunze-Sangyo, they even made Yamato 2199 named and themed paints as well. I tried some years ago, it has a feel of plastic inliquid form rather than paint as normal paint, water soluable but weird stuff.

@Dave, Thanks! All of this is like a revamp of my youth. I was in early high school when I caught shows like these ships come from in New York in the early 1980/1981. It was a big thing for me I can tell you.
Now for a very interesting update dear readers and fellow =L= members! I decaled the markings for the UN ships, so here is the Destroyer Yukikaze. Weapons: 2 x three barreled 12.7cm positronic shock cannons, 3 forward torpedo tubes, and 8 dorsal missile tubes

Thanks Theo! I do try my best with what I have on hand and in spite of the arthritis! Hence why Vik gave the respect earlier as he is aware of the issues through PM's
Anyway, I have now the Destoria class Heavy Cruiser(A Battle cruiser is due in October), It is armed with 4 x torpedo tubes forward, (chin mounted doors) and 4 x torpedoes aft, 4 x triple barreled 330mm Particle beam cannons (3 x dorsal, 1 x ventral), 4 x triple barreled 280mm particle beam cannons that face forwards and aft, mounted on either side, and 4 x wing mounted particle beam cannons, (Likely 280mm as well).

I have smaller decals on the other ships, and will show the Kelkapia next.
Theophony wrote: They look awesome shaso. I think the side turrets could use a bit more definition from the hull, but otherwise it looks great. Love the decal work .
Just a bit more inking and they will be less "Blended" into the hull. I have seen images with them having limited aiming due to swivel, but the kits did not allow for that sadly, so they are more static than the belly and back 330mm turrets.
Now the Kelkapia High Speed Cruiser is a monster torpedo boat at 240meters long. Weapons are; 3 x triple barrel 330mm particle beam turrets (2 x dorsal, 1 x ventral), 1 x six tube missile launcher facing aft. 2 x aft torpedo tubes. 4 x forward torpedos under the chin, 6 x torpedo tubes forward upper hull, 2 x larger torpedo launchers forward in blisters.

Insignia is really small, I hope to get more large sized ones when the carriers arrive later this week.

I am also expecting a different Carrier Battleship hybrid
and 2 sets of cruiser+destroyer for a more fleshed out Earth force, that way I will have 2 red/white cruisers, 2 red/gray cruisers, and the same for the destroyers.
Okay, here are the dual pack of Kripiteria class destroyers, they have a shared base. Weapons are 1 x 280mm dual barrel particle beam turret ventral, 1 x 133mm dual barrel particle beam turret aft dorsal, 1 x dual quad missile launcher turret aft dorsal, 1 x 8silo missile launcher fore in hull. 2 x blister forward firing beam batteries left/right, 4 x forward torpedoes medium sized, 2 x medium torps aft, 4 x small torps aft. a lot of weapons to pack on a 160mm ship!
[/img] [/img]
lower 280mm the wings prevent the guns firing to the left/right but can fire forwards a few degrees and more so to the rear, as these ships are peppy and move like fighters in space, it makes some sense as they do all kinds of moves

Space Battleship Yamato 2199, a reboot of a 1970's anime that broke some molds as it were. Outside Japan is called Starblazers,,,then they had less to work with, the newer show and models are well planned out and as you can see the look is cool! I have my Gamilons, with more on the way. I am waiting for the Yamato kits to be replenished in 1/1000 scale so I can order it and some more stuff. Just look up either Starblazers 2199 or Yamato 2199 in a search, it will pull up info. Youtube has the original series someone hosts it. Kinda silly english dub now that I am older but still interesting as in the 1970's no one had dared animate full on space fights.
Looking great shas! How does the carrier ship work? Does it only launch aircraft in planet atmospheres? I only ask because void fighters would have a BSG-type launch bay right?
Or are the aircraft similar to Tbolt fighters and Marauder bombers, capable of both void or atmospheric operations?

There should be enough space under the torso to one side or the other of the spine. It would be hidden from Line of site, yet accessible.
