Thanks man! I can feel the Ork taking hold of me!
Snrub wrote:Damn. You got stuck into those guys right quick.
The red nose on the Mad Dok makes it look like he's been snorting a bit of that good ol' fungus coke. Just the sort of thing a proper Mad Dok would do!
Hell yeah I got stuck in! they're so damn cool! ground fungus is a Doc's fave, in fact since he is a Doc I made his nose a bit redder so it looked kinda like he had a cold
Gitsplitta wrote:Both are excellent Damo. You are a wizard with a brush!
Gits as usual you are too kind to me but if I were a wizard I don't know who i'd be? Ganfest? Nerdledore? Nerdy Potter? Nerdlin?
monkeytroll wrote:Oh for feth's sake Damo.......you only posted the build yesterday, now it's bloody finished?
You can really go off people sometimes.......
Looks great, the red tones on the skin really bring him to life.
And nice build on the warboss too
Ummm Monkey I'm sorry for antagonizing you you may want to click away from scrolling down now.......... it's not finished but hopefully enough to annoy you slightly, like blowing on your dogs face

Fracking A dude.... That pain boy looks the tits. Color me excited for this
Which brush should I use dude? if I'm gonna colour you excited it may take a while, you ARE a hefty lad after all but I AM glad you're here for the ride!
lone dirty dog wrote: O great now you do green skins when you went marine I could stay away but now this I have to comment, damn you it look so damn cool Doc is amazing you have managed to lift out the detail nicely and the almost white coat is a great touch
Now I hate you as I aint even going to bother painting mine as it will feel inferior to this happy now go back to marines o yes if you didn't get it I liked it by the way
The conversion look awesome as well especially the alternative kan fist have we been shopping in China though
Thanks I think LDD glad you like the Doc! I gave him a doctors coat so there's no confusion as to role you gotta paint yours man! it' un-Orky if you don't or I can paint a character for ya? and whaddya mean have I been shopping in China? .....no,.....no I haven't........I've never been to China.......
You know it was a compliment don't you try and suger coat it You can paint a character for me by all means and a how to would be awesome from skin to teeth as yours is spot on I did not actually mean been there just errr purchasing from there nudge nudge
Yes I will paint it as they produce some amazing sculpts have to be one of my favourite Ork producers to be honest, I noticed you got the Kommando bodies they are some awesome looking bits.
Cheers dude nuts! Kommando bodies are great aren't they! and yes I may have obtained some bits from the land of the cheap resin, don't want to waste coin on conversion parts! I can certainly do a tute if you want? and I would like to paint you a character too if you pick one out for me to do! if you don't mind I can do the tutorial on he model you send? that way when you get it back you can see it first hand and see how I do it (and pick it apart )
Now, I did manage to get a couple hours in this morning before work on the Warboss O'MaD and he's coming along Orkingly! his skin is completed and every other colour is base coated and washed, I quite like his pants actually the brown camo suits him!
and there he is so far, now I had a happy find today too I found a box of boyz! I forgot I had been given them a while ago and put them away until I got my bits! so now I implore you to help me kit them out? I'm looking at 10 boyz, 2 with Klaws, and the rest with a pistol and a choppa?
(in my most posh English accent ) "God Damn I want to slap you man"
Another one so damn quickly and with tremendous results is this even possible
The only thing I can say is well the base is a bit bland Damn I have only just realised his camo trousers god I thought they were just brown I hate you and your talent
Ok I am going to put something together ( probably a mix of the Kommando body and some things from around the world if you get my jist ) then once I have that done I will send it on to you if thats cool
I gather you are using the spellcrow haul to kit the boyz out then ? did you get the left and right klaw sets ?
Lol thanks everyone! yep, I do tend to get a bit done when i'm in the mood. plus I feel like the last 6 months or so i've been neglecting my models and my hobby friends :-( so I want to really do something fun for myself and to keep the dream alive for you guys as you've been there from when I started and seem to like my stuff (and me for some reason!)
I wish I could video myself in real time so you can see how I paint 'so fast' it doesn't take long and it's pretty straight forward once you put in in words and pictures. My Warboss went from primed to the pics above in less than 3 hours today, although a squad will challenge me :-)
O great now he tells its takes no time at all to paint this little pieces of art really lie tell us it was a real ball ache to the point of pulling your hair out makes us feel you had to at least struggle a little come on man

Squads are a challenge because of how monotonous they quickly get. With marines it's 5 or 10 Max. Orks OTOH are 12 minimum and you probably don't want so few in a mob.
Also you can paint me with a paint roller. It'll make me giggle
I think that's all I can really say isn't it! especially as i've just finished the Warboss of my Ork force and he looks just how I wanted him to, which is big, mean, nasty, dirty, camo'd, and NOT to be trifled with
I've nailed how I'll do the weapons and i'll do some different camo among them all when I get into them, maybe some Glamoflauge?
hope you approve of him guys and next I'll have to actually spend time assembling some boyz so i've more to paint
Yeah he looks pretty happy with himself doesn't he! :-) nothing better to start the day than by ramming a spinning rotary blade through someone to really get the 'blood pumping'
the thing with the faces, it's something I always have at the back of my mind I read that faces are the focal point of any model and that they display the character and soul and feeling of a model. so I've always wanted the heads to be good because I like to have a feeling of each model and their own personality when I paint, that's why I choose to have plenty of bare heads even though tactically it's not an excellent choice. I do spend more time on the faces and usually do them first so it drives me to make the whole model meet the standard and feel I want :-)
Oh yeah LDD I based him too lol and eye. lurker eh! we'll bring you outta the shadows!
Got a bunch of assembled Orks for you today! I wanted to use a good mix of SC parts and GW so I can intersperse them seamlessly into the army
10 Boyz and a Nob and 5 Nobz
and Nobz. I armed these guys with 2 Klaws and the rest with slugga and choppa mainly because I didn't want to obscure the cool details on the bodies and I tried to amend the size difference between the SC and GW ones by adding some plasticard under the smaller ones and giving them more dynamic and 'larger' poses and getting their arms more splayed so they appear bigger but just as 'Ard due to them having more Bionics as the Cybork embellishments attest to. any thoughts on my execution of these guys please speak up!
So thats where I'm at with them, only have to add some greenstuff berets on them and depending on what you all say I may have to convert some of the Nobz pistols to represent more powerful wysiwyg weapons? then it's prime time and then it's time to see how damn fast I can paint 11 boyz and 5 Nobz!
Love the posing, all very dramatic and dynamic, which is perfect for orks. Really don't like the static poses they normally have. (must sort my own out!)
One way of distinguishing your nobs as well is to make them "darker" when you paint them up. Supposedly as orks mature and move up the ranks their skin darkens, and hardens. Now with your brilliant paintwork, you have two choices, either make the nobs a bit darker, or make the boys a bit lighter. I think since your wonderful skintones are working so well, maybe when you paint the boys make them a little pailer. Just food for thought.
I also what to thank you for the advice on how to take photos of red. I'm using a darker background and I moved the lights further from the light tent. huge difference. the reds no longer look wahsed out
Coolness! :-) glad I've done the correct thing building these guys, I know all the old skool Warboss's can be pretty finicky with the Greenskins! if ive got the 'feel' right then I'm happy because I like how they look and the personality of each one I think comes to the fore? will make painting them a LOT of fun for me!
I'll mottle the older skins to make them different which will be fun too, I'll look at lizards/frogs etc for ideas.
Styro, mate, glad I could help :-) using the white paper at different distances from the flash to get the right light is the best thing for my photography! it's trial and error but once you get it on the day you can quickly snap a bunch and know they're all going to be the same.! :-)
Got the Berets on the Orks done and some small additions to them, the Nobz have had a rockit system attached to a couple of them as well as a severed head to add some more action to the pose as well as make them larger to the eye. I also filled in the spaces on the GW Nobz bodies by adding a knife/ammo or a chain of large caliber bullet
Kans done too! pretty straight forward build with what was in the box which differs slightly from what GiraffeX had written up for me but they should still be decent I hope. popped some pva glue soaked gauze on a couple which i'll paint up as scrim net or camo canvas
so a bunch of pics to just give you an idea of what's been built and how they look, hope you like them all.
And have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS tomorrow be safe and have fun, love those you're with and think about those who aren't with you and we can all swap tales in a day or two
Merry Christmas Damo. Hope you and the Mrs. really enjoy your first Christmas as hubby & wife. PUT THE MINIS DOWN and be sure to enjoy the day with your sweetie!
Thank you all for the Christmas wishes! we had a lovely day Down Under with the usual lunch until we can't move, a nap on the couch and plenty of gifts and love thrown about! nothing hobby related for me though as i'm the only one who knows what its all about although I did score some new undies and socks which I was happy about which also means I must be getting old? also got a 75th anniversary collection of Batman stamps
hope you all have a lovely day with your friends an family and we'll gt back into it in the new year! or as I like to call it Green2015
Green 2015 looks like it's in full swing! started my 5 man Nob squad today and pretty much finished the skin tones and wounds once I start blocking in the rest of the main colours they'll pop a bit more. I plan on keeping them with a small palette of colour throughout the force so their weapons will be like the Warboss' and a dark metal with rust accents I can bring in some spot colour with the clothing in the camo designs and so forth.
I also had an idea to make a Boy into a Navy Seal so I started that too and nearly have him all converted! he' got a nice little spear and Scuba tanks as well as a face mask goggle he'll be painted as if he's in a wetsuit so I think he'll be something cool to add!
And here's the Seal team member, needs a bit of smoothing and filing and he'll be ready for paint
Love to know what you guys think of them? good enough for a tabletop job? I know it little chalky in spots but all in all I can paint a whole lot really fast!
As usual I love them and hate you if it was not for the fact that you have never seen blade runner ( yes I know WTF and he calls himself nerd ) I would hide away in a hole in the ground
No you have made a great start I like that you keep the pallet simple which really pulls the unit together, some great combos and nice flow with the minis although I think you should have GS the arm joins with the torsos on the bare arms got you
Love the navy seal guy great idea count that as stolen although have a different take on it, have you considered adding flippers or at least one
Anyway great stuff mate looks awesome can't wait to see what other colours you add and happy new year to you and the family
Your technique of painting the green bits beige first is the way I'm doing my green skins too. Then I hit it with some green! Great minds and all that.
The Seal cracked me up. I also really dig how irritated the skin looks around the bionics. It almost looks a bit graphic, and I love that! I don't think the size difference of the nobz is bad either, rule of cool Damo, rule of cool, and your got that in spades
Thanks dudes! I've nearly got all the colours based now and ready for detailing I was going to gs the shoulders but decided I really didn't have the time to invest in them for what I thought would be a small gain in appearance I hope it doesn't distract too much? when they're all mobb deep it shouldn't matter.
Frogman! that's the best way to describe him from now on! he does indeed have one flipper if you check the blurry parts, not very detailed but it's there.
yes I see the strap now well great minds think a like as for the arms if you get the time later add a few thin strips of GS then touch up with paint like his arms have been sewn back on
Daaaaaamn Damo! Those are some killer greenskins! Great way to kick off Green15.
I do kiiiiinda wish you'd have GSd the shoulders, though. especially on the places where it connects to a bare torso, I think it does detract a little from your otherwise lovely painting (sorry, dude, I gotta play the bad guy xD)
The skin around the bionics is painfully raw (in a good way ), and I love the contrast between it and the green skin.
Looking forward to more of Da Seelz. Love that he has only one flipper
cheers boys! gotta find a chance to finish the last basing of the colours, choosing the camo patterns is the problem, i've bounced a few schemes off them :-) but they're nearly ready for a good session to finish them off in the next week or so!
I haven't done the mottled skin to darken them yet. still not sure how to do it :-( do I add fluid and drop small amount of colour so it disperses? do I simply add green/black wash in increasing concentration? or do I merely add dots like you see on 'Predator' ?
and just to annoy some, you can BARELY tel the arm join now there's more paint! :-) .......o.k you can see it slightly but lets just enjoy the models eh!
Oh and i'm getting BladeRunner on a thumb drive this week!
I would do the mottling in oils , you can really get super colour graduation with oils and lots of thinners !
But if that doesn't float yer boat, I would be tempted to try some of that acrylic drying retarder ( is that right ???) I believe it will allow you to apply small dots of colour and tease them out to a fine graduation, similar to oils.
Take all that with a pinch of salt as I regularly dip my brush in my wine and drink the thinners !
Thats a tough one maybe add the dot of colour that you want to be prominent colour then use washes to gradually fade it into the skin, the add fluid and drop colour sounds a bit awkward to control to me but hey what the hell do I know Acrylic Retarder I found can be a little strange to work with especially in small controlled areas, for blending larger colour it was fine but small was a bit tricky but then I had only tried it for the first time so with practice might work.
The oils could work well but the drying time can be a pain depends how much time you want to invest enjoy BladeRunner although I am sure you will but incase you don't never post again
As for the arms I wished i never mentioned it now I was only trying to find something to have a dig about I am sure you can barely tell now

Arrrggghhh thinners nothing better for washing away the days blues
Oils take for ever to dry but you can cheat buy sealing them in with varnish after 24 hrs or so and cracking on with acrylics as necessary, I use Pledge floor polish, works really well and is cheap as chips.
Judging from your previous camo, Im sure you'll find a suitably cool pattern to put on em! Remember that you can probably get away with using several different patterns in the same squad- they're Orks, after all!
As far as the skin.... I'm afraid I dont have anything productive to say on the matter. A mottled look might work with wetting the skin area with just water, then dotting washes over the wet areas. Should get you a spreading blob of semi-transparent color where you apply it. Similar to what you might get with oils.
Actually, speaking of which... Even if you dont end up using oils on the orks, I'd suggest giving it a shot on a test piece. You might find they're an interesting tool to add to your arsenal.
Haven't watched BladeRunner yet i'm still waiting on it from my mate at work but never fear I shall be sure to regail you all of my thoughts of this apparent cult classic
But I do have some photo's if you want a look at where I am with my Nobz?
so far as I mentioned they pretty much have nearly all the colours blocked in and most have some washes done fun times! thinking I may even add some small dots around the parts where the arms meet so it looks like thread holes from stitches? since I neglected to GS
Wow, awesome work on the Nobz- I like the change in skin tones you have achieved around the cheeks and lips. Plus the areas of irritation on old wounds and surgeries is great.
Glorious my friend. The builds are just fantastic to begin with. Dynamic poses, interesting gear, nice mix of bits. Add your fantastic skin-tones and you've really got a winning unit!
Wow, such awesome ideas. I love them all, so much character, but the one with the bionic skull showing on half of his face is my favorite. Beautiful (can orks be beautiful?) work on these, very unique.
more updating of the Nobz today, not a huge amount done but I was pretty happy to see how the addition of work on the metals made such a difference to the overall look I started to add the rust and scratches, need to still wash and re-scratch areas on the klaws but it's coming along
I think my plan of using the same technique for each matching area throughout the army will work nicely, i've seen Goffs do it so why not BloodAxe's
anyway here's da boyz
and that's it for today, I bet you're getting sick of them by now I promise no more updates until they're finished!
HA, the O-Team! i'm so gonna do that! :-) great idea and right up my alley. I'm also going to use that metal technique style on my Kans and Trukks etc. then add some spot colours on bolted on plates with hazard stripes and reds and stuff :-) that way it's time friendly and keeps it looking Orkish and dirty.
I've finished and based 2 of the Nobz! but I can't pester you with a half assed update so you have to wait :-)
What the? Im a Marine lover dammit! MARINES YA HEAR ME YA SCURVY DOGS!!!! then why the hell am I enjoying converting Orks!? WHY?
Soooooo, you wanna see my first Stormboy I kit bashed? I made some bases to give a squad varying heights and action poses then made a simple Orkish rocket pack from bits I got in the Secret Santa last month! chucked on a SC head and arms and presto a pretty damn nice looking Boy leaping into the fray and oozing character
next I might make my own Zagstruk?
A squad of ten is going to look freakin' cool if apparently hopeless on the table!
It's not strapped to his back, but he's obviously ridden in on the turbine to get a boost for when he jumps off with his own rocket-pack Turbine-surfing, it's the future
Propulsion is the name of the game here hence the leap of faith fromt the turbine, add the rocket pack " in this case littarley " hey presto self made kamikaze pilot
You have created a nice characteristic look here but the question is can you continue it with the rest
Lol thanks dude I think I certainly can keep up the characteristic characterful poses ;-) but it's up to you to make sure I do it correctly and they are up to snuff!? do you think I should make a Zagstruk? or just a squad of Stormies?
nerdfest09 wrote: Lol thanks dude I think I certainly can keep up the characteristic characterful poses ;-) but it's up to you to make sure I do it correctly and they are up to snuff!? do you think I should make a Zagstruk? or just a squad of Stormies?
Well the question is do you want to build Zagstruk ? after all if you're not bothered then I would say no for the simple fact you have to be inspired to do it
However I would like to see your version of him I am wondering what other items you could use for basing, how about a turbine facing straight up pushing the storm boy into the air just another take on your idea but following the theme.
So what can I obtain to use as a cannon? is there one already available I could utilize? plastic empire or Ogre something? i'm not sure on fantasy model ranges :-)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Trampoline is already in production
Nice painting on these orks Damo !
I like the skin tones, and the rusted metals are a classical on orks, but yours look interisting. I like it.
However I think I wouldn't have painted the eyes red, they don't pop enough because of the red berets and the rust. At least for the bionic eyes I'd change the color.
Maybe it's a detail, but since they look good overall, details are what we can help for.
Thanks Minus, feedback always appreciated mate! :-) I like the rust on these guys as it's easy to do in large area and amounts so we'll see how it translates into trukks etc later on!
the eyes are just how i've always known Ork eyes to be! red eyes with green blood! I've held back on the fungal green blood but I'm afraid i'll stick to the red eyes! :-) at least in photo's they won't get redeye.....
Oops last time I commented I clearly missed the last page The storm boy look awesome! I realky think Zagstruck would be a great conversion to do and the up-facing turbine suggestion's definitely a good one
I have finally finished the first phase of the conversion, o he's posed and together and next I will tidy up the gs and joins etc so he flows better but I wanted to show you and see what you thought so far? I wanted him dynamic and similar to the original, looking powerful and determined with just a cool look to him! I like the pose of his arms in particular the Ork boy arm with the shooter looks like he's twisted holding it to his side as he splats some marines!
here he is so far
and against a assault marine for scale and if he looks right
Pretty happy with it so far and looking forward to finishing my Nobz tomorrow Oh and I bought a new house........
Looking good Damo! Love the turbine pack One thing though - he looks rather unbalanced (especially in that last shot). Can't wait for further progress!!
Oh and great stuff with the new house just casually slipping that on in haha
AWESOME !!!! looks great and what a use for power claws love the pack oversized just perfect and the swinging arm I love at the end of the day you cant beat a basic Axe
The only thing I would add or do is some kind of harness for the pack attachment, also add some kind of toe claws to the sides of the "power feet claws" and angle them as if gripping the wall section.
I think the way most people use GS to make straps is they'll mix up an amount, let it set just a little bit, then cut it into strips that they'll put down how they want to go. But then you'd need to worry about things like buckles or buttons or whatnot for the connections, too.
I think you should make a bunch of different bases for him- one with a member of each races toughest infantry being "DYNAMIC ENTRY'd" on. Then you could swap him out depending on what race you're playing, for that psychological warfare angle.
Lots of pics today! got a full squad of NOBZ and a finished Zagstruk conversion to show you!
So, first I want to show you all my Nob......Z
This guy seems to be the head honcho, no idea why he just has always seemed like the leader next is a guys I imagine to very surly and quiet, communicating in grunts accented by large gobbets of thick drool and an involuntary twitch.
Ah now this guys is my ode to the 80's action movies he just Ooozes Commando
This Nob is just angry all the time! something to do with a brain injury? he's a very short temper and is always trying to be first in the fray
lets see who's next! Ahhhh Spikey McHeadcracka has a very nasty dislike of Marines almost but not quite as bad as Dsteingass! you can even see on his base the shell he cracked off the severed head he's swinging around
and now my conversion for Zagstruk! all done, straps of greenstuff and some minor tidying and now he's ready for priming, slightly changed how he sits on the wall and added another claw to the front of each foot which while a small change makes it look much better! and next to his Stormboy charge he looks suitably larger and suitably nastier!
I think I might start on my Boy squad next as well as a cool boy conversion I thought of today, have seen similar but I wanted my own take
Fantastic work man! These subtle kitbashes are really making your orks something special and unique, ah man it's been too long since I left a comment, I dont know why but I sort of receded to checking out your blog in silence like a fly on the wall, but yea, I love the way they're looking! Keen to see some paint on Zagstruk
Great squad love all the individual characters but some how still retaining a unit feel The extra claw toe was a great idea really adds more balance to it good call.
Cant wait to see what you come up with next .......... have you watched Blade Runner yet ?????????????
He looks fabulous. The only thing bothering me is the rivets on the knuckles are a bit big, they kind of catch the eye. Not that we dont all stare at rivets!
The big question is are you going to break the rules you have put down and "colour" him up, and if so, bright Yellow??
Lol o.k o.k I'll finish him his claws are the leftover smaller power Klaw claws then I sanded them to angle into his arm better. you're right about the rivets too I just think I rushed putting it together but hoped it was alright. you can rest assured I want to paint him properly in lovely yellow spandex or similar
Okey Dokey dudes and dudettes I have some news I touched on earlier, Nerdwench and I have bought a new home together provided all goes well and no hiccups we get the keys on the 28th Feb so this also means I will have a new address and not really any time to hobby until we move in from now I shall keep you posted on progress and what's happening, but it is a damn lovely place with 3 bedrooms, sunroom, en-suite, walk in robe, large decking area, big lounge, double car garage with a fireplace in it! plus plenty of room for the 3 furry kids
So now of course I'll be in a better position (and I say this honestly) to have any Dakka travelers to our state come and camp in my spare room I'd love to entertain some of you and I'll be setting up my gaming table in the garage for games and the other spare room as my painting room!
I'll pop a link up when I know 100% that it's all gone through well and you can check it out!
Sounds lovely Nerdy, glad the Mrs. is finally making a responsible man out of you. Two questions... what is an "en-suite"... and what is a "walk in robe". I thought all robes were walk-in... otherwise you'd be all nekked after you bath & have nothing to wear on a lazy Sunday morning!
I thought you were some carefree, no life nerd like the rest of us. But now, you're getting married and you're buying a house and gak. What went wrong?
Did we not pay enough attention to you? Is that it? Not enough Dakka love?
Congrats though dude. Big steps.

En-suite is a small bathroom attached to the master bedroom. You sometimes get them with guest rooms as well, but that's less common. A walk in robe is wardrobe that is big enough to literally walk into, rather then just being a free standing unit.
So a walk-in robe.... would that be the same as a walk-in closet then?
Anyways, wow. Congrats dude! This has been a huge year for you already! Gonna get married, gonna get a new house.... Damn. Absolutely amazing! Don't you worry about us- we'll be here, anxiously waiting for news on the NerdCastle!
(You know, I might have to show up at your doorstep one of these days, myself )
Lol Thanks everyone! :-) Gits, an en-suite is when your master bedroom has a small bathroom leading from it so you can attend to your hygiene and personal needs without traversing the rest of the home ;-) and as explained a walk in robe is just a big ass closet you keep your (fiance's) clothes!
it's not a huge step for me as I already bought a house when I was 26 so I'm just upgrading to a wysiwyg home! :-) I just never thought i'd move is all! I love where we are but the new place is just too good for us to pass on!
Whaley, your room will be ready when I finish decorating it for you........ :-) heh....heh
This is something that would probably surprise most Americans, but in a lot of other countries (such as those in Europe, or Australia) rooms generally don't have their own built-in closets, and so Wardrobes (as in, Lion, Witch and) are the 'default'. As such, calling a closet a 'robe' makes much more sense.
Good gravy! These look so good I almost miss 40k........ OK that might be a lie but damn Damo your inner Ork is awesome! I also find it funny how you can just tell one Ork is the leader just cause. It'll always happen with orks for some reason, one stands out.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and grats on the house!!!
Makes perfect sense, thanks guys. 'Round these parts we'd call that a "master bath". Though in very fancy houses... the master bath can be quite grandiose.
No hobby work guys but my home has just dropped onto the market yep, the Nerdlair is up for grabs! would make a nice summer home it's a strange feeling selling something i've worked so hard to make comfortable for Nerdwench and I well, I hope it sells soon and for a decent coin! http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-tas-evandale-118992139 open homes on Fr/Sat this week and we move in the new place at the end of the month so hopefully i'll be able to get my nerd on soon thereafter
Don't forget to send me your new addy when you move in. There's a guy with a hammer and flamer with your name in it. Maybe a housewarming gift in there too.
Good luck with the sale and new home mate although it is sad to leave the old but its the memories and people that make a home
O yes checked out the link where the hell is the man cave not a model in sight how you going to get anybody to put an offer in without displaying the goods
Missing my nerd-fix too... Stop holdin out on me, man, I NEED IT!! *foams at mouth*
Im kinda fascinated by the construction aspect of your old house. At least around here you never (well, rarely) see brickwork indoors, save for a facade or interior accent wall. Yours appeared to have it all throughout! Kinda neat
Well, my man... Best of luck in the sale and move. Hopefully everything goes off without a hitch!
Hey guys! I've missed you all (seriously, I really have!) but I spent the last two day moving house and have emptied the one in Evandale all into my new Nerdcave in Blackstone Heights! it was a hard slog but I chucked on my Space Marine helmet and felt the power surge through me with the strength ten times of mere mortals
I might be able to paint late in the week if I can get a good start on unpacking boxes to where they belong but I will pop up some pics of the new home and where my Nerdness will now take place! I've got many ideas and things I want to get my hands back onto as I picked up some second hand bargains from a local guy, I got 3 Deffkoptas, a Trukk, 6 bikes for my Orks cheap and I'm gonna have a play with some Damo-esque additions for them.
as far as doing stuff for mates goes, I'll have some more from Whaley soonish consisting of Vulkan and whatever else he needs doing and BigH has gifted me a Baneblade to Orkify or strip into constituent parts for fun and I am painting some models for his boy!
Cheers guys I appreciate your still being around for me! shouldn't be long before an update albeit a small one probably towards the end of the week
so what do I do with the Baneblade? whats a skullhammer? and could I Orkify it and use it? or do I strip it for constituent parts? any images for inspiration will be devoured and mixed as biomass and evolved into something!
and boy have I missed you all and the hobby of course, but it wouldn't be as much fun without my friends!
Lots of pics of work in progress stuff and a bunch of the NEW IMPROVED NERD LAIR! so I better get started then eh!
I managed to score some cheap Ork models being 6 Bikes a Trukk and 3 Koptas locally so decided to try and subtly convert them to fit with my Orks head swaps and the addition of swag rolls on the bikes and a front guard on a couple with some new headlights looks the business. the Trukk just lost 2 wheels and got some stowage added, I don't have the codex for them yet so am not sure if the co-pilot-driver on the Trukk is there with a stubber or if I should equip it with a wreckin' ball?
So here's the Trukk & Bikes before priming
So I primed them as well as my Boyz ready to get some proper paint!
Now, my best mate is coming over for a game with me on Friday I now have a gaming table we'll assemble in the next day or two so I got the itch to paint some terrain I had lying around with a quick but effective scheme
And now for my new home totally happy with this place and it feels comfortable and very different to my old home which is now an investment property for us and being rented out this one is much bigger and laid out in two sections which separates the master bedroom from the rest of the house, its a bit quirky in spots and doesn't flow as you would expect but it works!
Spoiler:
new Nerd lair!
Lounge room entering from the front door.
dining room looking into the sunroom/office area with access to the master bedroom.
the little walkway to the bedroom
the master bedroom love this room its just so big, light and friendly. a very relaxing space!
doors in the bedroom open onto a little patio deck in the backyard
and from the backyard this is the bedroom and decking areas for entertaining and finally, I have a SHED, not just any shed but an EPIC SHED! gaming table progress and finally, a Beard update yes, I've ditched the pencil beard and am growing some length for the first time and loving it it's also my first 'selfie' in my new house! this pic is pretty much for Kingcracker as he's a Beard aficionado like me!
Well i'm back and looking forward to having a game on Friday (2500 a side against Ultra/Blood Angels vs Flesheaters unbound) and painting some Orks!
hope you like my first update back from the abyss, love to get your thoughts.
We'll be expecting a batrep come the end of Friday. And a painted Ork army too!
Your new house looks awesome. I like the two tier deck and the exposed inner roof set up. The bedroom>back yard is an interesting feature too. Kinda nifty.
The wood stove in the shed is a nice touch. Dunno how well it'd heat up a big open area like that though...
Also, loving the beard. The pencil beard worked for you, but the full length set up is pretty bitching too.
After spending the better part of a month going over your work, I must say that I love your painting style. Everything you do looks amazing. Very nice work!
How wonderful to see you back in the swing of things Nerdy! Love the head-swaps on the bikes... especially the enclosed mask ones. Hope you're settling into the new digs nicely.
Great to see you back Damo! Things werent the same around here without your shenanigans! Cant wait to see some paint on all that stuff! Needing my dose of inspiration!
Got sidetracked today not a bad thing though, I went to buy some bread and walked past a Toy store found a Tony Hawk skate thing for the little boards and it was like $4- so I grabbed it and made a 40k-esque generator/water pump station/air purifier....etc......etc
here's a look before prime time
and after some primer and a little cutting and light globe action!
getting pumped for my game tomorrow gonna be awesome fun and BIG!
With this bigger better nerdlair I expect mass production from you! And now that you have a shed to host your local weekly game nights a battle report will also be expected from you! Also, I have magnets on the way and I can't wait to show you what I've been up to!
Thank you guys and girls glad I still have enough 'sex panther' to attract some people! the game is tonight and i'm using a bunch of models I just want to try! there may (o.k, there will be) mistakes and missed or misinterpreted rules but it's just for fun so don't be too harsh on us
I got distracted again today
made an object marker and painted the pumpy station!
Sorry about lack or Orks but there's Orks on the horizon!
Got this years first sort of commission to do BigH kindly sent me a Baneblade and for payment I offered to paint some mini's for his son LittleH he also sent me a bunch of awesome bits to use for conversions and things!
and after seeing the tank in my hands! I can't cut it up for Orks and felt the need to bring back Bruce Willis to own it
Here's the eclectic mix of models I'm due to paint! this is a great mix of stuff for some basic paint jobs and some I'll get to lavish attention on I'm planning a skin tutorial when I do the Dwarves.
Who's this guy from? I need to work out the correct colours
and lastly a little teaser of our game we are on turn 3 and had to leave it set up, all other pics were blurry but it's fun so far and my Naimad (Dante) just cut his way through 4 Sang Guard in one turn!
Fifthly Nice mix of characters and good opportunity for extravagance
Sixthly I have no idea what that last mini is but it reminds me of Howard the duck for some reason
Finally Great to see the shed being used to its potential, looks like a clean start to the game and glad to see the grog is making its way around the shed as well
Great colour use on the terrain too ! I've often noticed in real life how you have grey rocks laying about but get tan coloured sand, well done old boy !
The unidentified mini is a Slann warrior from WAY back first edition WHFB, kinda like a Jungle killer Frog on steroids if I remember correctly……
Progress is progress and I have a little today started the skin tones on a bunch of the H-Team models, just skin base and a wash of Ogryn flesh. looking good so far I'm looking forward to those Dwarves also having a strong face as a focus is great with the hammer guys as I want them to have darker clothing.
Oh you know what i'm like by now right? so I primed the Baneblade! and started washing my nuts.......or rivets if you prefer, thinking Catachan this time
Hey dudes! so looking at the consensus you guys like my shed and subtly want me to Orkify the tank? I won't lie to you seeing it sitting next to my Ork Boyz I can certainly see how it would look so good! only thing is what would it be? is it similar size to a Battlewagon? or does it have to be a stand alone only for big games? I have this crazy idea of painting it up as loyal and then literally converting it to be looted by Orks
now, on to the progress got my flesh on today and everything you see here i just 2 or 3 colours, Tallarn flesh, Ogryn flesh wash, and vallejo 'sand' starting with Tallarn Flesh I coated all my skins and then washed them with Ogryn, following with tallarn again slowly adding a little sand colour to highlight and watering it a little more each time the only other concession is a tiny amount of scab red for the lips and cheeks/nose.
I'll start with these guys, they have the least details on their faces or at least the most shallow still looking passable for sure and I think one looks like Owen Wilson!
also have some on the Dwarfs too! now these guys I like lots, so much character in each face, they really have some awesome personality yes you can tell the last guy is my favorite lol
and the Dark sorceress is tricky only due to some muddy details but I'm getting there with her
The dwarfs are looking good and full of character nice job so far, the Vampire temptress is coming on nicely as well like the robe colour very fitting.
Orks are a bit basic so far but see where you are going so looking forward to progression on these
Nice family shot kids are white and fluffy and the wife looks very happy so you are doing better than most of us
Well Im glad to see nothing has changed around here
New nerdlair is awesome, Damo! Love the red carpet. Looks super plush!
Count me in for a fair bit of shed-envy, too.... what I could do with that much space~!
You are making amazing progress so far, nerd- And fast, too!
Well, this took longer than I expected I had the intention of just tacking on some bits and it'll look like an Orky tank! well wasn't I wrong! as I started I sort of fell into the fuge of making it look right in reference to having the tank look like the Kommando Orks have found a blown up one and tried to make it look like a real imperial one so they can sneak close and boom thingz to deff!
I wanted to still have it look like a Baneblade .....but not I wanted it to look like an Ork vehice........but not so, I think I've got the balance right and the look and feel spot on for my army! I added H beam rods drilled through with bars and rivets to hold the side turret back on that was obviously shot off at one stage my favorite part is the turret driver guy! I like the languid pose not usually seen on Greenskins.
anyway lets have a look at it, I spoilered the work in progress and before the re prime incase anyone wanted to see what I did.
Spoiler:
So there we go! a counts as Battlewagon, we have 2 shootas and a rokkit launcha and transport room!
I don't know what stroke me the most.
That baneblade or... are these giant living fluffy plushies ? ^^
Your custom of the battletank is really nice, it's subtle enough to not be ridiculous, but at the same time it looks orkish at first sight. I love the wood planks on the side, that's definitely an idea an ork could have.
Oh, and the pilot or gunner, well, the ork on the turret has the perfect face.
Ha the Orks prevailed and you have done a fine job indeed, as Minus said you have managed to balance this well as it resembles a Baneblade but screams Ork !!!!
The bits I love are the wood detail inside gives that anything will do theme, the cabling running from the side turret into the armour plating crude but efficient, the laid back attitude of the tank commander kind a like he can't quite squeeze his gut in the turret
The thing I really love though ( and going to steal ) is the oil barrel for a turret Brilliant !!!! along with all the little scrapes and gashes in the body work really pulls it all together.
Now I must go to ebay and look for a cheap baneblade kit
I like what you did with the Baneblade Damo, quite a cool idea having it Ork disguised as Guard disguised as Ork !
The guy is the turret is fantastic !
Nice one mate , chuffed you did something with it after it had been in my bits box for so long !
Waaaaagh! I had a really nice day today just painting and not really rushing anything, I wanted to still give myself the goal of finishing the turret driver which I did and am suitably stoked with how he looks, it sets the tone for the rest of the work on the Wagon-blade!
I did nearly get the two riggers finished as well, but not quite yet. the guy hanging from the pipe on the interior is removable for ease of painting, I wanted him to look a bit grimy and oily as if he's been in and out of the smoky innards. I also didn't mention before but in the hold you'll see the rear wall doesn't quite make the opposite side? this is intentional to give the impression that there may be more room behind the bulkhead for more Orks in the squad
I was having a little trouble with working out a good direction and colour for LittleH's knighty hammer guys? I thought they looked regal so purple would suit them, I also wanted to steer away from just painting the mail silver/wash/silver so i used greys and whites instead the faces look better now after another wash in the recesses but they are still fairly rough by what I like to produce, a bit more work and they'll come right
So there's today's fun and frivolity, I'm trying to balance a few of my own model interspersed with the fun other stuff
I like the way the.....Banewagon.....Battleblade....whatever is turning out. I think in your hypothetical apoc game it could stull run as a Baneblade too, always a plus.
Yup yup, really great stuff...i love the way you paint orks man, they are almost glowing, between that atomic skin color and the reddish brown rust, All super warm colors, i love em! This army en massse when finished will be freaking EPIC. Youll need to post some pics...still hoping to see that fat dward make some progress...i love that sculpt...and dont you have a treasure chest with teeth lying around that needs painting...?
Cheers guys! :-) Shaz I'm gonna have to google that one lol! and Bebop I do indeed have a toothy chest on my table ready for some love! I just haven't learnt how to paint a wood effect properly!
Thanks Gits, I think that's why I am falling so deeply in love with the Orks! it seems tht each individual warrior really has some character that you want to bring to the fore as a hobbyist so people can see them and imagine them coming to life and doing what they do! in fact I had a nightmare thought I sold my entire Flesh Eaters army and used the proceeds to build an enourmous Ork force! OMG!but that's never happen.......would it?........ :-)
Also, I'm actually glad it can still work as a Battleblade? or as a Looted Baneblade :-) even though it's a slim to none chance of me playing Apoc, I've always loved having the option juuuuust in case!
Banewagon update! went over the entire tank full of rivets with umber shade then highlighted them with gunmetal, then I used my Orky metalz meffod and washed them with a heavily watered blazing orange, some I went over heavier and others I left subtle it's a good look overall and I haven't even touched on doing any edging or highlighting yet not even sure I need to? I also painted the searchlight and then I went and had a nap
anyway I want to follow through all the vehicles in a similar vein with washed rusted metals and muted greens with the occasional coloured panel or hazard stripes?
more Ork boyz tomorrow I reckon then i'll finish up LittleH's stuff.
To echo Gits, I think its really great to watch you go through your process on this. Ork conversions are just such a personal thing, and you can really hide in a lot of little details and story. I particularly like the tacked on length of I-beam on the sponson.
Fantastic work man! That looks freaking epic so far! I love the colors you used for the light/glass...perfect choice! And the super contrast between the rust and the green..also perfect. Cant wait to see it finished man!
You guys were thinking pretty much the same as I am! it's the little things that might seem pretty simple by painting standards but when you add them together they really look effective and are quite fast (if you weren't doing every rivet on a Baneblade!!)
I think I have finished the turret on the Banewagon I painted the boss pole with an Emperors spears helmet and some Imperial Fist bits that just need a little detail added and then it's done but the majority I am happy with, it does fly against my usual methods and way of painting due to no edge highlighting! I could go back and do it but I'm scared I'll ruin the overall look? thoughts welcome on this quandary
and do you remember those rather boring and bland Ork boyz from a pot or two ago? well I finished the skin on them and it makes a hell of a difference to the overall look and feel of them, keep in mind all i've done since base colour is just the green skin! even I was happily suprised at how much more advanced they look! so I've picked a few to show you the skin tones and the start of the weapons.
Oh you guys make me blush except for LDD...... he's a hat ...... kidding of course........ I can't write what he is, i'd be banned
anyway I've more cool stuff I fiddled with today, let's not spoil it by telling you so I'll just show you...one...at....a ...time
firstly the weapons on the boyz I finished them off by highlighting edges with silver and then a light drybrush on parts, a touch of nuln on some bits and they look right proppa Orky and easy to do en-mass
secondly I added a rather fetching ram to the front of the Banewagon! I think it needed it and sets it off just nice!
Thirdly Bjorn the fell handed chasing Orks..... wtf!
Fourthly I felt the Wagon needed a little more Orkyness by the addition of moar Grots! to balance the visual weight of the vehicle I wanted a little character on each side and two in the centre (turret driver & hold Grot) I really like this guy, he's holding a powa lifta with another I beam they'll weld on and in hi other hand I've got him balancing himself by gripping another cable he quite doesn't look to sure of
Fifthly I finished the interior cargo hold of the Banewagon HA! made you wade through the other stuff to get to finished bits!!! I'm so evil.....*ahem* I like the Grot rigger hanging from a broken fuel pipe leaking fuel onto the ground and the broken computer screen behind him with the buttons showing only a few still operating, it just has a nice feel to it all I think and believably could house a bunch of Orks! well, by GW standard
Sixthly I got a package of a small commission from Gitsplitta a bunch of Cyborks to work some oily grotty mechanical mayhem on! I'm thinking darker metals to contrast the skin and operation wounds?
seventhly...... nothing I'm gonna have some dinner and a wee then lie on the bed and read some Sons of Fenris.....
Well plenty of pictures lost half an hour wading through but well worth it (thought I better be polite this time )
You really have pulled out all the stops on this one and plenty of character getting crammed in
The grot with power lift claw is a nice addition just wondering how you can reflect a live cable with sparks though as that would look awesome ( challenge )
As for the interior love the hanging grot, leaking pipe and the broken control panel but I think you need to add a big flashing red light as something has to be in a state of warning
The front ram is a good call but needs Orkifying maybe some h bars across the top to reinforce it.
The weapon pallet is fitting has that mix of metallic and rust with a hint of miss use
The only issue I have is your first Ork has a unpainted wrist band or have you just not got round to it yet
O yes ORKS DONT RUN
Now go wee and read
Gits group look an interesting mob looks like you will be having some more fun with them then, also is that one slipping in a pile of squig gak
Bane wagon is looking great! I did the same thing with my grot mega tank... adding some grots to it here and there to give it some character & focus. Yours are much better though. Love the grot with the klaw & wire. It's like he knows *something* isn't quite right but hasn't figured out that if the cable isn't tight... it's not going to help him balance at all!

Thanks dude! no I haven't forgotten the wristband i've just done the skin and weapons so far, everything else is still base colours to work on! and I think (for once ) you're righta big re light of some design is needed! I shall attend to that soon as I can.
GiraffeX wrote:All those little grots add so much character, the bane wagon iz looking pure awesome.
Thanks my man! character iz good right! thats wot itz all about wiv Orks!
Gitsplitta wrote:Bane wagon is looking great! I did the same thing with my grot mega tank... adding some grots to it here and there to give it some character & focus. Yours are much better though. Yep, sumfin's not quite right wiv this wire? I think he looks just the right amount of Grot for that spot on the tank now I need to find others for my other planned vehicles! some already have from the great Ork conversioner Camkieri!
Heya damo, everythings looking wonderful!! I have two thoughts...on regarding your thoughts on edge highlights...i think it does look fantastic wihtout, certainly more realistiic, closer to the forgeworld models, so you could go without. However, perhaps a few spots here and there strategically placed, could benefit from it...but again...thats purely up to you because as is looks effin great. one thing im not sure where you are going with, is the yellow black hazard stripe plank. While i know it was painted that way to look like an orc haphazzardly painted it, however, it looks kinda like "not well painted hazard stripes". (excuse this if its unfinished which it probably is) I think what i would do, to change that, is to add some pretty sharp edge highlights with chips and scratches especially all the way around the edges of the plank, to ground the mental image. And you could make the black lines look more like they were painted by a totally jacked paintbrush (28mm size for an ork). (in fact using an old brush dipped in super glue is a good way to get that look) errant slashs and unevenness abound. As it stands it looks like it painted with a miniature painting brush...you know what i mean? all this to say i think an extra step or two will sell that idea better Other than that, its totally epic work as usual
Heya Bebop I will probably leave the edging off the tank as I like the look so far but hey, ya never know wiv orks! :-) I think the thing that is throwing me off is the fact that it's not a hard way to get the tank to look like that and I almost feel it's been done too easy! it's only been primed with 3 colours straight from the can then the rivets picked out with browns and rusts, granted it's not a fast thing but it's pretty simple!
and the hazard stripes haven't been touched yet dude lol :-) I've worked from the turret to the interior then it'll be the sides and top I want to heavily chip and distress the panel so it's nearly unrecognisable
Awesome! Yeah i know what you mean completely. You get into the difficulty of putting those edge highlights on all sweet and sharp and someone comes along with a different tactic, looks amazing and took 90% less time!! seecretssss. And yeah i figutred it was incomplete, just wasnt sure which direction you were gonna go with it Either way, epic work my friend!!!
If I was to paint up a Ork Warlord in heavy Mega Armour how would you like to see me paint him? all weathered and rusty with cables and hazard stripes? or clean and brighter panels with chipped paint and little corrosion? should I add any gore or keep it more subtle?
posing,? striding forward with gun arm pointing forward or Power Klaw arm forward? should he have a lower jaw armour or a more visible head? kustom head or just a swapped out one or one made to have 'Predator' style mandibles?
Hmm. Good question. I'd like to see both. Can you do two Warbosses?
At any rate I'd like to see him standing around surveying the battle field. Big gun resting on his shoulder and an oversized stogie clutched in his powerklaw. I'd say go with a bare head but have a grot (or team of grots) lugging around an all enclosing helmet. Something flashy.
He'd also need a big banner. Something you can bust some freehand out on. And instead of a trophy pole have a large string of skulls and helmets wrapped around his chest. Like a bandoleer. But skulls. A skulloleer. A skulloleer of leering skulls.
Have him standing on top of a mangled tank. That always looks good.

I'm partial to the Action Shots myself. And I'm not talking about dinky little 'one leg in front of the other, both solidly on the ground' sorts of 'action', but DYNAMIC ENTRY kinda action. Mega Armour doesn't actually slow the model down, you know, just makes them less agile. A MAWBoss is gonna be 2 tons of very angry armour bearing down on you at 15 MPH, dragging his powerklaw through the armour of the tanks he's running past, in order to smash you in half with his head.
I say action packed bright but grubby and power klaw of course but add some touches to prove his worth and strength, firstly underfoot stomping and crushing the head of a marine (god I hate SM ) secondly maybe with the power klaw back handing an IG in a thrusting motion crushing his body in the process.
O yes on top of a crushed tank ........ No wait make that a titan
Brilliant stuff boyz! that's what I wanted to hear, how you envision the Warboss on the field of battle! so here's the rub, I AM going to be doing a super kick ass warboss, because I scored a finecast Ghazghkull Thraka model pretty damn cheap (should arrive soon) I want to convert him slightly to be more 'Nerdy-style' and had some ideas as to posing etc. I think I'll make the Klaw the focus as far as weapons go, it just screams Ork Powaaaaaaaa! I prefer bare heads as I'm pretty partial to having a good focal face!
I'm thinking to make him taller as he looks pretty hunched? and changing the arms to be more action pose with the Klaw more visable and the gun arm sort of swung backwards as if he's moving forward at pace? I now want to have Grots holding a plate metal helmet as if it can be bolted on! a space marine not as a really obvious addition but being squashed under his boot!
now I need to find a good head for use with him, I like either aftermarket and good or a GW one I can gs some Predator style mandibles just for giggles I've googled some Ghaz conversions but nothing is really jumping at me that I want to replicate, which is good I suppose as I'll take the project on a very Damo journey
Heh. Maybe you could have him vaulting over a low wall or something with his gun-arm down and the claw outstretched.
Though I do like me a Big Choppa on a Warboss sometimes. And they give you the opportunity to get those really nice torqued twisted torso poses, where both hands are on the shaft of the choppa and he's just bringing it around in a big home-run swing.
Im all on board for a very Damo journey! Loving the concept of the warboss so far, especially like Snrub's grot pulling a helmet idea... Now to see how ya build it!
I know they're sweet aren't they! :-) would love to try them but they are MASSIVE sized and takes freakin' ages to get anyhting to where I live :-( if I can find some in Aus I'd pay for 'em
Well, I suppose a Waaaaaagh!!! i in order!? got me a Ghazzy and got straight to cutting him up as you'd expect I went a little crazy I decided to not change the legs as they are pretty solid bit of resin and made the base to match them, but I straightened his body to be standing taller and opened his power klaw as well as changing the position of both his arms to be more dynamic I also changed his shootas to be a dual drum fed assault cannon just for gaks and giggles! a few cables and some armour plates followed by some rivets and he's done! and looking hella mean! I've still got his normal head at the moment until I decide what I want to use? should I stick with the stock one? or use a nasty looking Maxmini one? I also squashed a marine on his base for fun and gave his gun arm an attached chain to flail around if anyone gets close.
and a couple of shots to show the size comparison with my Gutrippa model and some Nobz and a Boy and a hapless marine!
I really hope you like him as much as I do! he worked pretty much as I imagined him in my head I won't paint him until I finish those models for LittleH but he'll be done soon......
Does he have a Twin Linked Shoota? You should add more gun if so. Can always use more gun. I like the extra bulking out thought, makes him bigger and more dynamic at the same time.
Nice.. Really like the size difference with the normal orks. The fluff should make him super large and the pic in the books show him towering over tiny guardsmen!
The only thing i'm not sold on is the assault cannon. it's not really orky.
The Black Orc and Savage Orc boxes see a lot of use in Ice and my Waaaagh!.
There is a bareheaded Black Orc head I adore. Missing an eye and a toof and just looks a ruckus. Also, there is always Grimgor. Grimgor is the fantasy equivalent of Ghaz. Perhaps a bit mo stompy,
Solar_lion wrote: Nice.. Really like the size difference with the normal orks. The fluff should make him super large and the pic in the books show him towering over tiny guardsmen!

What part of "Moar Barrels for Moar Dakka" is un-orky?
Cheers boyz! glad there's conjecture about him, it's how we get him just right :-) I originally had 3 assault cannons on his arm lol but it didn't look right, it made him look too unbalanced I might go back before priming and just stick some other Orky shootas on instead?
I haven't gotten any Black Orcs yet! might need to go a googling :-) and who is Grimgor? a head worthy of Ghazzy? my gut wants to replace his head for the sheer individuality of doing it but then Like Gits said, Ive basically kitbashed my own version now and the head is an anchor point to tie him to the name?
Ghaz looks massive, good looking thing. The way the wires on the claw arm go into the metal piping looks a little strange to me, needs something like bandaging or webbing.
Changed Ghazzy's gun arm back to a more normal Ork style added some more rivets with pins and gave him a more Blood Axe Kommando style back banner taking shape now.
I also managed to finish LittleH's Hammer knight guys? whatever they are nice and crisp and I didn't do too bad on the faces on them although I've cheated and shaded the sockets as the eyes are bloody tricky to do on a couple of the smaller scale ones and I wished them to all look the same
Now, this next bit is a kind of experiment beginning I primed the SW Dreadnought with a mid blue then zenithal sprayed it with a light blue then finished with white from the top, I want the model to have a cool icy feel and look as i paint, I want to use mainly washes and my swirly designs to cover it in subtle patterns that blend from white into the blues? I have only done one pass with white to get a feel for it. I think I can do something 'cool'
Sorry it's not much today dudes, but had a busy couple of days at home and away, had the parents and my sister and niece over yesterday for a Easter Friday lunch which blossomed into them staying....and staying..... and staying and as soon as they left a friend of Nerdwench turned up with her partner and their two dogs a poodle cross and a German shepherd which wouldn't be a bad thing except we're already Dogsitting a mates two dogs! another Samoyed and a spitz cross! So 7 dogs is a bloody handful I can tell you! had to put Oscar away ashe didn't want to play nice with the German! and today we went for a trip to an antiques store! and went for lunch.......
